Hello everyone!
As i know SLIMM is the best ROM for this device. But now it is discontinued, so there is the question: is it still the best?
And please owners of this device who tried different ROMs, give the advice, which one should I install (i want to install stock based custom MM ROM).
For me in priority is functionality, stability and performance coupled with good battery life.
So I have a question about kernel: should I install EliteKernel 3 instead stock kernel (or maybe Advanced Stock kernel)?
I'm not a newbie, but there are really a lot of ROMs and i'm a bit confused...
Also, are there some good MODs for this device(like Cyberian Camera)?
P.S. Sorry for my not ideal english.

I use Concept Plus ROM with the Kernel 12c custom kernel.
Having an amazing experience with it so far.
The only problem I have is bluetooth headphones but if you dont use bluetooth accessories this shouldn't matter much.
For camera mods I use Cyberian(yes even if not compatible).
Even though it ain't compatible part of it does work, the camera app which comes with the mod doesn't work but everything else does. The camera snaps photos much faster and overall better quality.

Mate Concept ROM Plus is based on Sony's Concept Software,it is theoretically stock.
But between those I would go Existenz.

Well I haven't used it personally but I believe it was definitely the most popular and best ROM for Z2 before it was ported to Z3c.
It has lots and lots of customization options as you may have saw.
And by reading the thread replies from all of these ROMs,I have saw that people don't really complain much about issues regarding ExistenZ rom.
The best way to know is to try it out, create a backup and flash the ROM,if it ain't working well revert back to your backup and you are solid.
Concept Rom may sometimes get weird. By that I mean it had the lollipop's YouTube and Video Recording issue, though that can be fixed by changing some system file parameters. I used Concept and I loved the design, stock Google design and I loved it. I've used SliMM for ages. Whenever I tried a new ROM I just had to revert back to SliMM. Because it has the best battery life for me with the best performance. I'm using ExistenZ ROM now, hadn't have any issues but to be honest, battery life is worse than SliMM also the performance too (even though a little bit). I'm using ExistenZ right now because it has many customizations in itself which means lack of many xposed modules, which means (somewhat) better stability. I'm thinking of reverting back to SliMM though, FYI. I tried the EXPERIENCE ROM too. And it was a total disaster for me. Because I didn't like the modifications that Marilia has made into the ROM and I simply couldn't live with it, the phone felt a bit too childish. All in all, the best was always SliMM for me. If you have any question, shoot it mate! (I haven't tried the MX ROM)

I am using Experience and i like it. Even adoptable storage shows free space right. Battery is good, about 2 days with 5 hours screen on time. Supersu update from playstore works fine. Very good and stable rom. I have tested AOXP and MX rom. Both works but Experience was easy to make look like stock with 16 GB adoptable storage.

The only proper answer for this question is and will ever be: Try them and find it out for your own.
You are already know the four candidates and now its up to you... All four are working. None of them is a failure!
As you see from the given answers everyone has other preferences and whishes.
There is no better or not here...
But if you want to:
Try all four ROMs, use each for one week and make a Rundup of them. Sure - this will reflect only your optinion in particualr but may help other to decide. As faar as I know such an comparrision is not existing up to now.
Actually this is want you are askiung for...

Yes, EliteKernel v3 and after makes phone experience smoother and games r more fluid with some other options available too :highfive:
Hear me out. I think the phone is amazing. The software is crap, now the 5 is out the updates have already slowed. Not to mention OOS is always behind on security.
Now custom roms. I appreciate highly the work so many devs have been doing especially sultan, lineage and paranoid. But theres always something thats a bit off, camera especially, lag etc. Always end up going back to OOS then get bored again, try roms again.
Is there anyone else like me who has had enough of being a crack flasher or gets bored easily and has just had enough of trying to find perfection from a oneplus phone ?
What do you want to hear? Need a confirmation for yourself to get another phone to make the step a bit easier?
Yes, I hate the manner of OnePlus to not even fix a single thing, like the implementation of the Camera2 API. Sure, they lied to us more often than we want. But what company does the job better?
If you want to get a new phone: Fine. I'm also looking for a replacement. But I'm looking for phones for weeks or months, so I'm sure, the phone is good enough and beloved by devs. For me, no OP-device anymore. But really fed up? No.

I dont meed a confirmation from anyone. Ive made a topic for discussion. For instance i have a oneplus one as well ae my back up. There is more stable nougat roms on that, a 3 year old phone than there is on the newer higher spec 3t. Phones are getting ridiculous. What the hell is with these curved screens now so no tempered glass fits properly.
The next phone i get needs to be something that will have good support. Preferably from a company who releases camera sources
LAG on OP3T? wtf :0
I agree with you, I dont like OOS but i love custom roms and PA is perfect, its so smooth and optimized and their camera software is on par with OOS cam

Honestly stock is the best for this phone by far. Set it up right and its the fastest phone out there. Are you talking about screen lag or application lag?

Ah! I am defeateddddd! Pa had application lag. For instance it opens but messages would appear after lag and same with settings. Stock is better but i hate the delay in updates that dont fix basic bugs or update security.
My 2 cents; OOS continues to be good enough I don't even bother to unlock anymore. I was a Nexus fan for sure, but the 6P was my end of the line (yeah yeah, end of the line anyway). I had numerous issues and it finally got the bootloop problem that was plaguing many users. I got a used replacement, sold it and never looked back from the 3T. I tried most roms for the Nexus lines and while many were excellent, it was always something. When I got the 3T I decided to just leave it stock for a week and have not looked back. I get at least 2 days from it, it charges insanely fast, have had no lag/reboots/lockups, nothing. I would say I'm a fairly normal user except no social media really, privacy and all.
I keep a tab on what's new and as of today, nothing at all has tweaked my interest. Samsung/Motorola/HTC = never, too bloated. Pixel = too expensive.
I do feel the security updates are a bit slow and some additional OOS goodies would be nice, but for the price, for me it's hands down still the best phone.
Stock is the best rom, ftw

I hear you and agree with all of it. Problem with oneplus now is couple more years it will be on par with samsung pricewise. Then what? The bloated huawei honor line.
Sultans and PA are the best custom roms but they are not without their bugs.

Didn't we get like 2 betas already since the 5 is out? Also, custom roms have issues on EVERY phone. You won't find a phone where a custom rom works 100%.

I don't know and I don't care to be honest. The stable version of OOS is an inferior version of the beta at this point. The beta is 100% stable in my experience and offers more features than the stable one as you've said.

Wlan signal quality is very bad with mine.
Noticeable in many games, when it is endlessly stucked until the it the signal gets through again.
With 4G there is 0 problems, it's only this weak Wlan module, it's getting on my nerve.

Hello XDA
I know there is no such thing as the best ROM but I was hoping to do a little cheating and save my self some reading and get some opinions on what would fit me the best.
I use my phone as a business phone and thus my battery is dying constantly. I got ALOT of SMS and my phone is constantly slowing down. I want something that won't seem like a old device.
I want to root to install a new ROM and battery tweaks. Here are my requirements:
MUST be stable
Smooth
Good battery life
I want something I don't have to constantly tweak. With my note 4 I essentially changed so much that at the end it became such a nuisance trying to keep modding etc. I want to set this up and forget about it, unless needed.
Thanks !

I understand where you are coming from, but from a practical point of view, if someone recommended a ROM, you may find your experience different from theirs. Happens all the time. Second, it's a good idea to read first. I just got this phone. All I have done is read threads here at xda. Not even so much ROMs, but reading about the phone. This step alone has saved me from myself in the past. Makes it easier to troubleshoot problems.

I agree. I have tested enough roms to conclude that for the 3T there's no point in trying to find something better than stock
Perhaps only something purely based on oxygen os, but more debloated, like freedomOS
basically it doesnt matter, 99% is all placebo.

Beta with Magisk for root and a kernel of your choice. Get some performance and battery benefits from the kernel (if that's the type you decide to flash). Debloat it. Use Greenify and BetterBatteryStats to eliminate wakelocks.

I guess stock is the best choice here for you. It has no additional battery hungry features like viper but is still stable. You may consider flashing a kernel instead and I would hardly recommend you to read into them since that's the best way to get to know to new kernels.

I would say oos..if u want a flawless stock experience with better battery life, use freedom os..
I personally use oos open beta 12( rooted with magisk) with elemental x kernel..it gives me good battery and flawless performance..apps like substratum and viper 4 arise works fine..
Thanks for all the replies. I tried out RR and had an issue with the WiFi dropping - since this was a business phone I decided not to flash a custom ROM. I am now on OOS open beta, the latest one. Loving the parallel apps feature!
Now to get into theming and modding. I've got the basics down already like greenify, BBS.
Any recommendations on rooted apps? What have I missed in the last year or so
Have had the phone for nearly 2 years now and have tried all the roms on every fourm my question is what is the best performing rom as a daily driver dont really need oreo if its slow i can settle with 7.0 just looking for a stable slimed down rom no bells or whistles just a smooth experience
Vanilla and Pure - 7.1, old no updates, no security patches
Lineage - 8.1 - really smooth, good balance. I have been using since the very first beta as daily driver. Full disclosure: i don't use netflix, any social networks (fb, twitter, instagram, snap), don't play games.
I've been trying almost every single oreo rom we can find around here and, unfortunately, it can't compete with a good old stock 7.1 rom. much better battery, much better bluetooth connection, better deep sleep, smooth experience and of course much much better overall stability. I really enjoy testing new features and new android version but, in my opinion after many desperate months of testing custom oreo roms, keeping the 7.1 stock rom (with some good tuned up kernel nonetheless) is the better choice to get the sweetest nexus 6 experience.
I'm using Pure Nexus still. Everything works and rock solid. I never get reboots, battery issues, or other problems. Actually battery has been the best for sometime. I have tried nitro which is great but I have found that Netflix causes problems. It seems to be the case with most oreo roms i have tried. I'm waiting for that one issue to correct so I can reflash.
Pure nexus is good but has added fetures im looking for a stripped down 7.1 as a daily driver love my phone dont want to upgrade just want the best performance i can squeeze out of it
You can't get closer to stock than Pure Nexus. There aren't really choices for Nougat other than the last stock release or the last Pure Nexus release.
IMHO, staying on a 7.1.1 October 2017 kernel is a mistake. The patches for serious kernel flaws do not exist for the N6 unless you go to Oreo.
I suggest Beltz which is an Oreo ROM.
However, there is a thread existing which tracks and discusses the various Oreo ROMs for the N6. ROM Repository - Info / discussion on all '30' Oreo ROMs (6.4.18)
"Good judgment comes from experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgment." - Will Rogers
The smoothest performance is to be found on the stock ROM, though you don't get bells and whistles on it. Google has taken a lot of time and effort to optimize the performance of the stock ROM. So much so that one well-known developer on XDA abandoned a ROM he created for a OnePlus phone because he couldn't even come close to meeting the performance of the stock Google device he was using for comparison.
Now, the stock ROM is not a good choice if wanting security fixes. Since the N6 is EOL it is not supposed to receive any further updates. If security fixes are important to you, then you need to be running an Android 8.1 custom ROM. Nitrogen is a good choice until real life for the Beltz developer calms down and he can resume work on Beltz.

I'm experiencing some graphical glitches, screen is flickering very often for about a second or so. First it was rebooting as soon as it boots (with magisk 16.4 , with 16 it's gone but I'm not sure that's the reason).
Pretty annoying that flickering or dim for a second. Didn't touch anything, stock settings for kernel,no magisk modules.

I've moved on to newer hardware, and only use my N6 for some gaming and media consumption, so having stability for me, is better than bleeding edge features like with Lin 15.x. Safety Net pass or fail doesn't bother me, my daily driver is unrooted and secured.
Current set-up: stock 7.1.2 with Franco, Xposed with Gravity Box, the latest Magisk, and BusyBox Pro to keep it all ticking.
hi there, i got mi 9T pro with EEA, i used to have a oneplus phone, i wanted to have a stable and fun time with the phone, i flashed lot of roms but at the end of the day i flashed other rom and keep going on this cicle, currently i dont know for real what to do sense idk if i can trust custom roms for daily driver has basic stuff might become broken , i am currently using xiaomi.eu stable, but i miss the lack of smothness and customization tho, i love the device but software side not so much, what can i do? really would like a opnion, what rom should i use for flash and forget?, what if the dev abandons the rom what can i do then?

You have an ORD as much of us here. The only cure (if there's such thing) is using an apple phone. Many already did that, but after some time they bought again an Android. What I do, I use only Los currently Los 17.1. No major bugs, a good daily driver. I can't use anything than aosp for much time, in this case miui ROMs. At the time the devs abandon this device you probably already bought alot of other devices, so don't bother about ROMs support for this device. Check for help here instead.
