How to overcome the character limit in contacts notes field? - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions and Answers

Sorry to post a similar thread to others that seem to have no solution.
I posted this very similar question when I moved to an S-III 4 years ago:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/help/character-limit-contacts-notes-field-t2440978
I dropped Samsung devices al along in favour of LG, but recently I got a Note 8 from my provider, just to discover that Samsiung keeps doing the same weird thing of limiting the number of displayed and editable characters in the contacts notes field.
In the long time gone era of Windows Mobile, it can be fixed in the registry (not a big deal), but I've found no way to do that in Samsung Devices (my S-III question thread explain how LG solution is different, and workable).
3th party programs are either limited or incomplete, and are not a real solution to this stupid limit. Furthermore, some are limited themselves by dessing in other áreas.

Upgraded phonepad text entry?

Firstly, may I say this is an excellent forum and a mine of useful information. I've had my Wizard (O2 XDA Mini S) for a couple of weeks and have found all sorts of useful stuff on here for it, so thank you very much.
I do have one gripe about the Wizard compared to my last phone, a Sony Ericsson P910i. The T9 phonepad text entry program is a bit pants. It's partly because it uses the screen rather than dedicated buttons, but mainly because some of the features in most T9 phones aren't there (or maybe I just can't find them).
For example, I want to type "pet.". I begin by typing 738, which comes up initially as "set". I scroll across to "pet" and then type 1 for ".". However, the text jumps back to "set." instead of "pet.". This, frankly, is a pain in the ass.
So, in short, are there updated phonepads out there that are more intuative than the standard one? I've searched on this forum, but have only seen different skins, which only change the look, not the functionality.
Many thanks in advance for any advice, and once again, well done on such an informative forum.
Funny you should mention this. I ran across this earlier today...(I had alot of time to play around here today)
Check this out. http://free.tengo.net/ I have not installed it myself, but check out the demo, sounds pretty cool and might help you in your quest.
If you do install it please post your results so we all can evaluate.
I had actually downloaded that already. It's quite good, but it's for use with the stylus and doesn't work with one hand (the buttons are too small).
Give it a go if you write a lot with the stylus, but it's not what I'm looking for. Thanks anyway.

Mobile Security??

Hi fellow WinMo users
I have read somewhere on some site or other.. a funky piece of software that once you install it.. it sits silent on your phone.. until someone sticks in a different sim.. then it starts sending a pre-defined number (yours) a text from your theives sim.. and even telling you GPS location... blah blah.. and if you want.. you can send a special text back to it.. and it will disable / delete your phonebook / wipe all your info... etc etc
Anyone know what the hell i'm on about?

I am moving this thread to the regular Kaiser forum as it is not related to development matters. (For upgrading read development ie ROM cooking and other software development.) In this particular case, I could also have chosen the General Forum as such tracking software could apply to any phone with built in GPS.

I don't see the GPS tracking function that you stated you were looking for in the first post in that program you linked. Its also been about a year since they updated it. I'd be concerned how long its going to be supported.
I'm performing some thread necromancy on this sucker to highlight a couple pieces of Windows Mobile security software I remembered from my Palm Treo days with the capability to actively prevent data theft by remote password lockout and remote wipe of data. Worth adding to the list, as the two or three mentioned above and on the Wiki do not appear to be in development any longer.
This article does a nice job of laying out features (though written in a Palm-specific manner, these apps have Windows Mobile versions now).

If anyone has actual experience using any of the remote wipe-capable programs listed here, I would be interested to hear more.

Remove nickname field from display?

Hello everyone. I recently got a new AT&T Tilt (Kaiser) loaded with Windows 6.1 and their new Voice Command app. For those unfamiliar with Voice Command, it doesn't require voice tags like Cyberon's app...it uses some sort of sophisticated software engine to determine the sound of names based on their spelling.
That works fine until you have some folks with names that don't sound like they're spelled. I did some research (here and elsewhere), and I found one work-around that suggests using the nickname field to hold a "Soundalike" entry...Voice Command's search function would then pick that contact up.
It works fairly well...however, when I pull up a contact, the nickname is shown along with the real name in quotes (Firstname "Misspelled-Soundalike" Lastname). I hate that. Is there any sort of registry tweak to prevent the nickname from being displayed while viewing the contact?
THANKS!
...still no takers? The only reason I posted here was because I couldn't find it anywhere else (Google, this forum, etc)...don't tell me the brilliant minds who frequent this forum are all gone! ;-D

[Q] About Photos in Albums

I upload photos on my Samsung ATIV S I8750 through my lap top using USB connection. Photos are named from 01.jpg to 97.jpg, so, when i open albums on the Photos hub it shows all the photos in that album but not in order from 01-97 like it should. Instead of that photos are starting from 01.jpg in order to lets say 32.jpg then continues down from 60.jpg to 97.jpg (which should be on the bottom since its last) and then continues to down from 33.jpg to 59.jpg (in this case its the last picture). I did this with names (numbering) pictures just to show you the point (which in this case it is as it is). So, pictures are somehow messed up, and not in order like they should be because i intentionally put picture names with numbers because i wanted them in that order. Hope you got my point here. There is not an option like "Sort by names" or "Sort by Type" or "Sort by Date", etc. like back in time in windows mobile devices we had. So, in hope that you got my minor stupid problem, i would ask if there is some trick or solution so i can view my pictures in sorted order?
Maybe this a stupid question but i am new in WP8 devices so kinda this is new for me and i am keen to learn more like i learned everything about Windows Mobile 6.x.x. devices from you XDA-Developers guys.
Cheers.
P.S. If i open the same album with some kind of File Explorer (like in this case for example with Total Explorer) i see pictures in order from 01-97, not messed up.

"Ok i search the net for this issue little bit better than previous time and i find out that it's OS related, so maybe they gonna fix this issue in the upcoming WP8.1.

Dialer Isuues on OP3T Beta 19

I am not sure if this has been discussed earlier but here it goes.
I had this problem from the very first day but I've started feeling more and more frustrated because of this.
When I search a contact from the dialer, it searches by the first letter of every name.
It completely ignores a contact if it matches the search term exactly.
Putting this into an example:
'Raj Bhai' is a contact name and if I type '725' for 'Raj', the contact lies far down the list.
whereas if I type '72' it shows as the first contact.
Also frequently used contacts search much quicker of any other phone but this phone doesn't seem to learn from the habits.
Anybody can think of a better way to deal with the stock dialer ?
Thanks
