Magisk ask to use bootbridge -- bootbridge gives me a black screen. - Xperia Z3 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Good evening everyone,
I've been following really useful tutorials (thank you guys) on how to root my phone since my navigation buttons on screen refuses to work and the system is getting a bit outdated these days. I wanted to keep the camera functionalities from Sony so I followed this tutorial (https://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/general/how-to-root-backup-drm-keys-t3013343) and have successfully managed to root and update to a pre-rooted rom: D5803 23.5.A.1.291.
The problem is I noticed some apps won't show on google play store that I would normally use i.e animal crossing pocket.
I did some researching and found out my best solution would be to get lost in a bunch of tutorials and install Magisk.
Every time when I try to flash the latest Magiskv 14.0, I get an error with the system detecting elf32 and needs to use a bootbridge by AdrianDC.
I manage to find the bootbridge (https://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/mod-boot-bridge-sony-elf-t3506883) and loaded the Magisk that way. The system says it has successfully installed it, but every time I reboot hoping to have Magisk, I get a red notification light in the upper left corner and a black screen.
It seems so easy via the tutorials and youtube videos but I am stumped.
I am a total novice but this is some really cool stuff and would like to learn more.
Can anyone help me troubleshoot or redirect me to some tutorial links I might have missed?
Thanks a bunch.

Probably a way, but easiest thing is probably to use custom kernel, (Elite), and Magisk will probably be fine with it. It just doesn't like stock elf kernel...

Thank you for your response.
So that's why was tripping up the installation.
I shall look into this custom Kernel and (Elite) you are referring to.

Bein Sport app refuses to work with my rooted Z3C

Hi everyone!
I have a rooted Z3C and it is a fantastic phone, I love it. The problem is that I bought a television sport service that includes the possibility to watch games on your phone, it's called Bein Sport. This app is able to detect root and refuse to play any videos so the service I bought becomes kind of useless
The worst part is that I don't want to mess around, just want to watch games on my phone and use the service for what it was thought. Si I thought i'd give a shout here, has anyone been able to bypass that annoying feature? I don't even understand why they don't like rooted phone
thanks!

There is an Xposed module for masking root on your phone, not sure if it will work or not. There is another Xposed app that offers help as well.
Installing Xposed can sometimes be tricky, make sure you find the right arm zip or you could be facing bootloops.
The place to start if you want to go down that road is here

Hey Steve, thanks for answering. I am willing to try your solution so I read the page you showed me to install Xposed. I downloaded the last version of the ARM (note arm64, or x86), should I boot into recovery and flash it now? I reaaally don't want to mess up and have to reinstall it all! Is the Z3C part of the phones that have problems with Xposed? cheers!

I use Xposed, it's very popular and works fine on the Z3c. I think the emphasis is to read about it before you do it, as many people rush in, go to downloads, install the one with the latest build number and then come crying to the forum about bootloops.
The fact that you have read ahead on the page before you did anything assures me that you won't mess it up :good:
If it reassures you, I am using xposed-v80-sdk22-arm.zip on a 5.1.1. build. But there are more recent versions out now, although I don't know what the advantages of using those are. Perhaps later versions cover the use of MM. Can anybody enlighten me on that?
Edit: Once you have flashed the installer in recovery, restart the phone and then install XposedInstaller_3.0_alpha4.apk
With that installed and running you can find the modules and install them.
Each install or change of settings requires a restart.

Yep, installed, up do date, and some apps even use my root without any issues
If anyone comes here, here is what happened to me: I tried to install Xposed to try this trick but my phone would'nt falsh because it couldn't mount /system. I assumed that it was a problem with partitions. I tried deleting root manually but the app always found root even when I wasn't rooted anymore (beware, this app is pretty smart). I ended up having to go back to stock which sucks because the battery is really bad in comparison, but anyway I can watch football! Cheers

I actually went ahead and installed it before you replied, and I've been looking for something like it for ages. It's really well done.

Yes, installed so I could keep adblock and still play Pokemon Go with my kids. Used SuperSU full unroot and then followed the guides here on XDA for how to install it - works great
Installed following the android police tutorial. Root and xposed working. However, when I switch "Root Toggle" in Magisk Manager to the off position, it switches itself back to the on position. Anyone else getting this?
Edit:
This works, per u/Howie_The_Lord on reddit:

Phone stuck on booting screen after install

Hello,
first off, sorry. I was stupid and didn't read into it before installing (or trying to install) Xposed to my Samsung S8. Yes, i've read now that it doesn't work with the official ROM, but now it's a bit to late.
So. After rooting my S8 today (using TWRP) i wanted to install Xposed. I downloaded an installer from this site because.. umm, i had a brain fart. For some reason my brain took that site as the official website, so i downloaded it from a 3rd Party site instead of the actual website.
I installed the apk and granted root access. After that i clicked on install and Xposed installed successfully. After that it obviously asked me to reboot my device, which i did. But now i am stuck on the Samsung screen of the boot progress. I know i could technically just wipe the phone (again) and start anew, but i'd like to avoid that if possible. I can access TWRP, but if i try to access the system files in the file browser, it shows "0MB" and i can't access them.
I tried downloading an uninstaller linked in this thread, but i don't know which one i should download.
Sorry again for me being so stupid and not reading into it and downloading from some weird 3rd Party site.
Thanks in advance for the help!
EDIT: And yea, of course i didn't create a backup before installing Xposed. So if there is no way to properly uninstall it, i gotta wipe everything once again

I don't have this device but, I believe that you should be able to flash (via TWRP) the Framework Uninstaller located on the following Official XPosed link. Just select the correct ARCH (ARM, ARM64, etc...) for your device.

If necessary, you can always try to obtain some additional member guidance and support from the following Q&A thread that's specific to your device and variants.

In the link provided by @lbuprophen use the arm64 zip uninstaller (latest version) to uninstall exposed.
Just curious how long did you let it try to boot for, mine took 10-15 minutes for it to do it's thing and boot up.

I tried that before, unfortunately without success. It also may be noteworthy that my brain turned off and downloaded the XPosed installer off some 3rd Party site. I know. Stupid. But it happened.

I waited over an hour for my phone to boot, before and after flashing the uninstaller. I also tried wiping it and even completely formatting the data, everything without any success. It kept on not passing the Samsung screen and eventually bootlooping.
I fixed the issue by just flashing the stock rom with odin and then reinstalling TWRP and rooting my device again. Will stay away from XPosed with this phone for now.
Thanks for the advice anyways!

You did what I would have probably done myself in this situation by starting from scratch.
I just wanted to let you know that I believe that I had saw somewhere (within the dedicated area of the forum for your device) that individuals were successful with Magisk XPosed.
Though I do understand if you want to stay away from XPosed until your ready again and I'm happy to see that your at least up and running again.

I got the same even just after the installation of the apk for Systemless Xposed on an Xperia (XposedInstaller_3.1.5-Magisk.apk) found here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/unofficial-systemless-xposed-t3388268
I made a reboot as I like to isolate the issues while they happen. That was it: bootloop..

OnePlus 5 Safetynet issues

Hai.
Yesterday I rooted my device with all latest versions and everything went pretty well. Then when I checked Safetynet check, there was an error on the "CtsProfile" and the second one was okay. Then I tried all those methods including modules, tweaking settings, installing universal fixes and even extras like USB debugging etc etc but nothing worked.
I've used these versions of apps:
platform-tools_r29.0.6-windows
Magisk-v20.3
twrp-3.3.1-0-cheeseburger
MagiskManager-v7.5.1
Other things I noted:
Just to check I downloaded Pokemon GO, it works for some time like for 2 minutes, when you log in and then gives error of the device.
Similarly I tried another app one first launch it said not compatible with the device and then I closed. After some time, I opened and it was working fine.
Plus, hiding from #Magiskhide doesn't affect these behaviors.
So, I want someone to help me with this, because I've tried almost all of the troubleshooting things.
Thank you!
It's a good idea to be a bit more detailed... For example, what does this mean?

What modules, tweaks, universal fixes and extras are you talking about?
And I'm assuming you've checked here already:
https://didgeridoohan.com/magisk/MagiskHide#hn_SafetyNet
If it's just CTS that's failing, it's usually caused by using an uncertified device/ROM and can most of the time easily be circumvented by using a certified device's fingerprint. Is this one of the things you've tried? If not, give my MagiskHide Props Config module a go.

Oh, I'm so stupid I didn't completed that terminal step fully. I thought it would be automatic, meh. Thank you a lot. It's fixed.
Now that the Safetynet check is whole working but does it change anything? Like, I tried Pokemon Go now, but it still says device, OS or software is not compatible. Why is that? I mean, if it's only for Pokemon Go, then I guess it's okay because I'm not really a fan of it.
But if it's same for other apps in future, what should I do next to fix this?
Regards.

As far as I know, you can't. Not without locking the bootloader, which you shouldn't do on a modified system (you'll risk bricking the device, permanently).
If you're going to sell your device it would be a good idea to go back to full stock anyway, and then you can lock the bootloader and the message would go away.

Nowadays if you're to root the most ideal approach would be Magisk, which allows you to modify the system without directly touching the system partition, as well as hiding its presence from certain sensitive apps so Safety Net can still pass.

If you're saying it's past prime... in some aspects, yes, thanks to the fact that you can't have both Xposed and Safety Net passing at the same time.
Still, if you're interested, you may consider looking for EdXposed or LSposed. I haven't tested it myself as I don't really have a use case at the moment, but these might be useful.

You mostly need to just unlock bootloader following official instructions. After that you can proceed to flash kernels and GSIs through fastboot.
PS: I think this thread should best be posted in the Q&A forum...
EDIT: Just noticed your other post. If that was your real question... well, you were in the stock recovery and not the bootloader so fastboot commands obviously won't work there.
To enter bootloader, power it off, hold VOL- and POWER buttons until you see something like "Restart Bootloader", then you should be able to use fastboot.
Thank you, for all of your information!
It helped me by heaps!
The biggest problem I was having, was thinking the phone was in fastboot when it wasn't.
When I figured that out, the phone was quickly up n running on Phh-Treble with GApps Gsi.
Magisk Manager vs apk uses were confusing. It's Modules I can more easily blindly understand due to knowing XPosed.
Magisk went in smoothly & successfully via the change extension fastboot method which you explained.
But it appears the same as before inside the OS It's there but not really in type of thing.
Everything but the f2fs file and Magisk did complain.
I have no idea what kernel actually made it in now.
Safetynet! Hahaha! Is a new thing for me.
My phone is PlayStore bonafide uncertified also now.
PlayStore, I tried some other gapps nothing really changes, it just reupdates back to where it was, if it does, anyways(I think).
I tried registering device too. Failed that!
Being Uncertified = no netflix, no bank apps(deal breakers to me). GPhotos 1/2-ish working. Gvoice, Gmail working great! Razer Themes.apk + Pandora disappeared. I miss Razer Themes Lockscreens alot! Razer gives only a play link.
I installed older Netflix & Bank app. Both working.
Play ignores netflix but updated Bank. The same Bank app did stop working on a deemed outdated device in the past. It's not Chase but close.
I did try hiding things from the launcher via an other installed launcher.
An old Selinux(sp?) showed set to permissive. I changed to enforced, rebooted and it appeared to stick.
I installed Greenify(old) and stopped everything then did my monthly banking business, paid, xferred, etc. All transactions were confirmed. Boot still unlocked.
Soon afterwards, I installed Aptoide which informed me of root.
The Gsi's package Installer, won't install anything from within Es(I'm a diehard Es file manager user). The built-in file manager must be used to call the installer. The built-in file manager also crashes when searching.
A buggy installer I can deal with. Banking without it's app, I can not.
A halfbaked PlayStore is doable but not ideal.
The gsi itself on a RP2 is beautiful. The darks darker. The flashlight toggle works now! The fingerprint sensor never worked, still doesn't. 120fps, few games bake that capablity in. I haven't tested yet. No sound in Wyze app.
I recommend having your fav most used .apks dled before leaping onto it.
First boot was loud! Be prepared!
Then nothing.
2 days later, I noticed all alarms & notifications were set to silent sound.wav.
Idk, where to go from here. Stick to where it is now & wait for fixes. Go back. Or to go patch crazy if I can manage to get Magisk in.
I'm happy enough where it is now and it feels pretty secure. Will relocking the bootloader wipe it? The adult in me thinks.
But! I love tweaking...zzz
Relocking undoes it
