Hello,
today, i switched from my x compact to xz1 compact, everyting is fine but one thing is missing: how can i enable the PIN or pattern security during device startup? on my x compact i have to enter that security right after power up the device but is this also available on my new device? i tried to set a pin, pattern or password but the question to use it during device booting doesn´t exists...
thank you smile happy
Greetings,
SirRobin
Settings > Lock screen & security > Set up SIM card lock
Is this what you're looking for?
EDIT: Never mind, this is after device has booted. I didn't know it was possible to "lock" before or during booting. Color me intrigued.
Thank you, ok, so this is a general issue, maybe a feature? But for me, security right after power on is much better...
Can you set up SIM lock? On other phone is I setup the SIM lock, it asks before.
Did you figure this out? Curious about the same thing, annoying that I can't find it in the settings.
I'm following this thread, I have the same concern wherein I transferred from Xperia XA to Xperia XZ1 and I want to know how to enable the security pin startup just like in Xperia XA

Probably best not to follow a 3 year old unresolved thread.

I've just had a scan through the bools.xml in the framework-res.apk and found this value...
Code:
[B] <bool name="config_enableLockBeforeUnlockScreen">false</bool>[/B]
Try changing that to true and see if that does it.
I guess u mean the "secure startup", this can be enabled if u change the PIN/Pass AND u dont have the "fileencryption" enabled. For this u need the "encryptable=footer" setting in the fstab i guess.
I was looking for a way to enabled it on modpunks LOS-16.. but there is some stuff like GateKeeper missing...

Uhm let me see if I got this right:
For example you set face unlock, when you try to unlock the phone, the phone asks you for face unlock instead of the default unlock?
If that's the case, then yes. It's supposed to work that way.

u now using x z and it happens to u?
yeah i set for example face-lock mode, then the default disabled! and then i cannot return to default mode cause disabled by credentials and
i should factory reset it.
that default lock mode is not important but i thought it might be a problem or mistake by me!
Got it!
it s about Credentials that disabled swipe mode (default)
I removed credentials and then swipe became enable.
as in if you "clear credentials" at the bottom of that menu the default swipe unlock will return? does face unlock remain too?

it s about the level of security (in my experience)
if u choose high level for example pattern then the low level security will disable.
after i cleared all credentials all kind of lock screen return but for example my vpn connections losts
after that when i set pattern again and create vpn connections now i don have swipe again.
it seems logical rather than a bug.
although in build.prop, ro.nfc.icon.enable is set to false, but i found out that there is another prop that enable it.
go to system / etc / customization / settings, there is a file call config.prop
edit config.prop, and put a # in front of ro.nfc.icon.enable=true OR remove the entire ro.nfc.icon.enable=true
And why remove the NFC icon? When the option is ON it remind you is ON, if is OFF it will disappear so I don't know the point to doing this.
HI,
use xposed framework and download the module to remove the nfc icon.
-> done!

And which it is?
Works beautifully on 4.4.4 also. Thanks. You could also just change the value from true to false.
Z3 Compact. Same Problem. Same Solution.
Thank you very much for this post! I sometimes have many ongoing notifications in the status bar and I have NFC alyways on, no need to be reminded about it, I orefer to see notification icons instead!
Best regards, PCHSwS
Xperia Z1 Compact with 4.4.4: Module for XPosed framework doesn't work, but this solution does the job.

It is a waste of space and makes the status bar cluttered. I always have nfc on and don't need an ugly icon telling me what I already know.

On my Z3 compact (Germany O2) there is even another config.prop in system/etc/customization/settings/3567/ additional to the one mentioned above. For this case you must change the setting (...to FALSE) in THAT file - it does not work changing it in the earlier mentioned.
My device is on LP 5.1.1 (...232)
is it possible to do the same on z5 premium android 6.0.1 ? thanks
go to system / etc / customization / settings, there is a file call config.prop < - i cannot find the config.prop
I was using .205 with a custom lockscreen (default lockscreen turned off from the security menu). today finally i decided to update to 207. everything works well except i cant turn off the default lockscreen. there's no option to turn if off from the security menu. all the other options are there except the one to turn the lock completely off. can anybody using the official 207 confirm you have that option or not? this is really annoying because i cant use the lockscreen i like.

You are able to utilize any lockscreen of your choice upon installation of the application. During the application's first startup, you should be prompted to do certain actions to grant the application access to modify the lockscreen. To further determine your problem, please state the application you will like to replace the stock lockscreen with.

well yes, using another lockscreen makes default one to turn off automatically, but that doesnt always happen. (ex - when locking and unlocking quickly)
i was using this lockscreen app

The phenomenon you encounter is mainly due to the fact that the Xperia SP has low RAM at most times and the lockscreen such as the z2 consumes quite alot of it. Due to low ram, the cpu will take a longer time to render and actually remember the preferences you set for the lockscreen because it will take a while before an application will initialize.

Hi, this is my first post so be forgiving
Just few weeks ago I've received new phone - Lumia 620 (I had 610 earlier). I had "some" experience with flashing my nokias and now I'm pretty intrested in modifying WP 8.1. I know this OS is closed and can be unlocked only partly for sideloading apps but I'm wondering if there's any way to change unlocking method or turn it off. What I mean? I mean unlocking phone by swiping just like in android not from down to up but from left to right or even by maze lock. I saw few apps in windows store, but they work only when screen is unlcoked whitch means i have to "lock" the screen by clicking notification which just makes screen black and "unlocks" phone after double tap. And there is my question: Can I turn off lockscreen? Btw. I saw this thread and I'm wondering if this app is just making interactive background or modifies system fiels so I can for example change unlock method?

You should consider doing a factory reset and see if the option appears in the settings.

Thnx for replay. i did FRs a few times before and once now, from Phone menu and boot menu as well
Just tested phone using Phone Doctor Plus app. and FP test failed.
I'm staring to think that FP sesnor is broken.
Do you have any ideas how to confirm that before sending back ?
Fingerprint is only a SECONDARY option. You must set one of the other options BEFORE you can enable fingerprints.

Thnx for suggestion. FP doesn't appear either with SINGLE Screen Lock or DOUBLE LS methods.
In other words FP option is not avalible as primary, secondary or 3rd security function.
EDIT:
Tested for each of primary Screen lock (None, Swipe, pattern, PIN, password) setuped on fresh system (after FactoryReset)
FR -> Screen lock (None); FR -> Screen lock (pattern), etc.

Been a little bit but if I recall after FR it will ask you to put in your pin and then confirm. Next screen should be "set up FP (yes/no) If you select yes then you are presented with a screen or two of instructions before you hit ok let's do this. If you don't get that at some point in the setup then return the device, it's broken.

Thank you for provided workflow. As at any point I'm not able to recall this, and any of above suggestions didn't bring any solution, i rised return ticket to Amazon.
Thank you all for your time!
Topic won't be investigated by me anymore so can be closed
