Hi All,
How Do i keep TWRP and flash MIUI 8 official global stable?
right now, Im stuck at MI logo with no progress dots that we usually see after rebooting to system. TWRP is still accessible though.
what I did is:
1. from TWRP recovery -> wipe dalvik, cache, system, data
2. install/flash MIUI 8 global rom zip from internal storage
3. reboot to recovery (TWRP)
4. from TWRP, reboot to System (to prevent TWRP recovery from being overwritten by stock recovery as others say)
basically, I want to retain my TWRP and use MIUI 8 Official Global rom. I'm coming from EU rom 8.0.10.0.
Also, Is it correct to use the recovery rom and not the fastboot rom?
Thanks in Advance, and will surely hit thanks with any help I can get.
Flash it via fastboot.
Hi, im having a little bit of a problem here, i succesfully managed to unlock the bootloader of my chinese mi8, flashed and booted twrp, the issue is, my files seem to be encrypted, i can't copy anything to the device while on fastboot/recovery mode from the pc, tried booting to miui, allowing the transfer of files and booting to twrp again (for some reason i can't boot to twrp from the device itself, it has to be via fastboot with the command "fastboot boot ***") but all twrp shows me are folders with random characters, it seems to be some sort of auto-encryption, do you know how to solve it?
Miui auto encrypts the device, that is why your device is encrypted. You are unable to boot to twrp for two reasons: 1. Miui auto checks and rewrites over any custom recovery 2. Fastboot boot command does not install twrp, it only boots into it, from which u must install twrp again.
Upon booting into twrp, you need to FORMAT data, flash TWRP, flash this file https://zackptg5.com/android.php#disverfec (DM-verity and anti-encryption) this will prevent anti encryption when your freshly flashed ROM boots up.
Side note: DO NOT RELOCK YOUR BOOT LOADER IF YOUR MI 8 IS CHINA VARIANT AND YOU ARE INSRALLING GLOBAL ROM.
I HIGHLY SUGGEST YOU HEAD OVER ONTO THIS THREAD TO UNDERSTAND BETTER! https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-8/development/rom-mi-8-miui-10-global-beta-8-8-7-t3826560/page7

- plug usb to pc for copy lineageOS to internal mi mix
- flash lineageOS 16.0
- wipe cache
[never error in twrp or fastboot]
but if i reboot device always stuck on logo lineage if 5 minute device auto reboot to twrp [always like that]
Sorry if my english not good
Hi,
This seems to be a decryption problem. Have you tried formatting data in TWRP? (you lose all your data including internal storage)
I format internal storage too on TWRP (format all : dalvick, cache, internal, data, and all)
This is my step :
- off mi mix
- go to fastboot
- flash TWRP for mi mix (latest)
- flash (no-verity-opt-encrypt-6.0.zip)
- reboot to TWRP
- format all (data, dalvick, cache, internal, vendor, etc)
- plug USB to laptop and copy lineageOS.zip (latest)
- flash lineageOS.zip in TWRP (done, no error)
- reboot and bootloop
If i flash TWRP and don't flash (lineageOS) and don't flash (no-verity-opt-encrypt-6.0.zip) = TWRP gone  and mi mix go to auto hard reset but no booploop and i must be setting mi mix from beginning like set language, country, mi account, etc
If i flash (no-verity-opt-encrypt-6.0.zip) = bootloop on MI logo
If i flash (no-verity-opt-encrypt-6.0.zip) and LineageOS = bootloop on lineage logo
@Spectra13 did you end up figuring out a workaround for this? I had the same issue when I tried to flash lineageOS16 from PixelExperience. I went back to PixelExperience for the time being.

Just Flash (no-verity-opt-encrypt-5.0.zip) in the last step
And problem solved :good:
.
My mistake in the last step is flash (no-verity-opt-encrypt-6.0.zip) who is not compatible with mi mix

Always when I install any Custom ROM on the device (mi9) , I get one of the following .
-BootLoop to Fastboot
-BootLoop to recovery
-BootLoop again and again (Freezes on MI logo)
and sometimes the device dies , and I flash fastboot firmware again for it to work.
I tried all the installation methods to no avail , please some one help me :crying:
and sorry for my English
To install a custom rom:
-Flash the latest miui rom(actually 11.0.7.0)
-Boot it and do the setup
-reboot Into fastboot mode
-flash twrp
-reboot Into recovery mode
-flash your custom rom
-format data
-reboot recovery
-reboot system
Format Data before flashing the ROM.
But when I look at your Post, better stay on Stock.
Obvious question but did you unlock bootloader? [emoji4]

Oh my friends thank you all, It's worked
I just flashed Magisk after installing Custom ROM
I don’t know if it is a coincidence or really I should flash Magisk after installing a Custom ROM
+ Also, I used Recovery_Fox to install if you care
And again thank you so much
hi guys
i just bought a brand new mi 8 se with a unlocked bootloader ! it was running android 8.1 and i installed miui_MI8SE_V11.0.2.0.QEBCNXM_3363abf171_10.0 on it with a old twrp (i think 3.2) because the newest twrp just refused to boot . after installing that rom recovery or the OS won't boot so i installed the newest twrp and both android and twrp 3.5.0 booted no problem !
buy that rom is a china version and it's BS ....
i downloaded miui 11 from xiaomi.eu and attempted installing it ! i did the following :
enabled usb debugging and reboot to fastboot mode and installed twrp 3.5.0 and booted in twrp
then i used advance wipe option and wiped everything but internal storage
so i installed the rom and wiped data with writing yes and rebooted the phone but it shows the fastboot mode and i can't boot into android or twrp ....
so i have to use miflash to install the stock rom and repeat the process and follow every guide i could find one by one but still i'll stuck in fastboot
HELP ME PLS .....
i just want to install the miui 11 or 12 eu on this phone but it doesn't work
btw fastboot command didn't work at the start on my pc so i found a batch file for AMD and after using that fastboot on pc started working just fine
I found a solution to it ! just follow this guy ! he's my hero
