Two days back I installed the recent stable build of Lineage OS 14 to my wife's Moto X 2014 (victara). The phone for sure now seems much responsive, faster and leaner, BUT now it has started rebooting abruptly every now and then.
It is not in a boot loop but just reboots suddenly anytime, multiple times throughout the day. Sometimes it even just freezes completely and I need to force shut it off. I had done a cache and dalvik wipe, and before starting I had done a factory reset.
Anybody has any suggestions? Please save me from the wrath of my wife!!

So you start off with the latest stock firmware, you flash the latest TWRP and do an Advanced Wipe, wipe System, Data, and all Caches, you flash Lineage and Open Gapps, and wipe caches. Did you install any apps afterwards?

There's been a freezing issue with Facebook for a while now, not sure if that could be it.

Thanks! Yes, i later singled out and found that it indeed was Facebook!! I did a factory wipe, and this time only installed Google Inbox, Whatsapp and facebook Lite. Everything was fine. Today, I took the next step and replaced facebook lite with facebook full version. Even before i could type in the facebook password, the phone froze!. This is sad. I will continue searching if there are any solutions to this, instead of having to use facebook lite or an older version of lineageos.

Hi there, I messed up a bit
Im on CM11 M11 Snapshot, Unlocked bootloader on my SP and I caused a problem with Google Play Services, I tried to integrate the updated APK into the system partition using Titanium Backup, it froze and couldn't finish the operation and now I cant seem to get onto the Play Store to update services. Ive tried clearing data/cache for Play Store, Services, and account manager, Ive tried removing my Google account and re-adding it (Didn't work at first, but now I'm signed in) and Ive tried removing those 3 apps and then re flashing the Gapps package but there is always an error with Google Play Services and it requires an update from Play Store but it cant connect to it because of the problem Ive created with Services.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this? I don't want to wipe my Data partition / do a factory reset as Ive spent the past week setting up the phone and getting all the apps back that I needed.
I have been in the same way, messed my gapps so bad that one day. The fix is easy. All you need to do is wipe the system, and then flash the gapps again. No need to wipe data.

Wait? What? Won't kill boot/bootloader/rom doing that?
However I've the same problem: play services (all google apps, drive, maps, youtube) stopped to work. They start but can't connect to google account.
So I tried clearing its data and cache, but nothing. I removed the account and now I can't create it anymore: it says there's a problem communicating with google servers.
Install apps from playstore site, gives a 906 error.

No, it wont kill the ROM. But beware, you will need to reflash the ROM zip and gapps.
I didn't mention it in the quoted post, but that guy understood me lel
Well, I was pretty sure. XD
I'll backup, install rom, gapps, reboot, rom update, reboot
I'm really start to hate the play services ahahah
Last night, something went wrong with my phone and google play services kept crashing. After numerous times of clearing cache and deleting the updates, I decided to install GApps through twrp. My firmware is 5.02 with Sense 6.0 and I flashed gapps-5.1-2015-05-23-24.zip. This because I clicked Lollipop (Android 5.0+) and could only choose from two versions of 5.1. The flashing went fine, I cleared cache and Dalvik and rebooted the phone. But play services still crashes! No google things work because of it, not even my playstore. Does anyone have an idea what I can try before I'm forced to go back to fabric?
I have tried everything and nothing works, so I am coming to this expert forum for help!
So, in March I downloaded the TWRP 3.1.0 for my rooted OP 3T and installed it. When I updated my LineageOS version a couple of days later, it didn't install properly, an error came up... and something in Google broke. The TWRP 3.1.0 wasn't working properly, so I downgraded to 3.0.3 and went back some days in LineageOS, but the damage was done.
This is what happens now each time I restart the phone:
- Google Now resets (I need to re-sign up for it every time I start the phone)
- Google Play Store resets (I need to uncheck the autoupdate, the new icons for new apps, etc)
- Contacts and Calendar data resets and downloads again
- Phone calls disappear
- Google Now Launcher resets (bloody annoying, I have to use Nova Launcher because of this)
- For the first week, GMail was not starting, luckily I updated the GApps and it started working again
It's almost like some Google account data is being wiped every time I restart, which is extremely annoying.
I have since upgraded TWRP to 3.1.1 and all works smoothly with installs etc, but the above persist.
I have tried updating Google Play Services, GApps, Lineage OS, have tried wiping all the partitions (literally), I really don't know what else to do. Anyone with a clue?
Many thanks!!!
Just to follow up, it seems to have been fixed after I literally wiped ALL partitions, including all data (I had to sideload the OS and GApps!). Anyway, hope it helps anyone who had this same problem. Cheers!
Hi there, i'm quite confused and desperate. I was on Computerfreaks stock rom for a while untill i decided i needed to change the flavor of my device a little bit and installed RR 6.0.
Sadly it came with a lot of bugs, one day it logged me out of my whatsapp account every hour and i had to do all the first-time setup again, so i grew tired of it and installed the flashable stock 6.0 rom zip.
Everything was good, but then when i tried to install whatsapp google play would tell me that it couldn't install, error code 504. It had nothing to do with the avaliable storage obviously so then i did the whole google account removal/ erasing cache, uninstalling, rebooting, etc. Nothing, the mistake keep going. I downloaded the apk directly, and when i tried to install it, it wouldn't pass the setup and just display "app cannot be installed" only gaving me the option to accept it.
This is when i realized it had to be a bigger problem, so i switched roms ro RR 7.1.2, i could install the app.....however it simply crashed at launch, and wouldn't even allow me to complete the initial setup. I've changed the DPI, governors, tried with beta versions and older versions of the app, and nothing. I've tried with AOSP extended, Kang, and the roms mentioned above without success.
It's funny thought, every other app works wonderfully, it just this annoying thing that i actually need to use, that refuses to install.
In twrp i've wiped everything. System, Data, internal storage, dalvik, cache.
I've tried using another google account.
I just don't know what else to do.
Fun fact, i've also tried to see if this was the app's fault and just for the lolz i've installed it on my tablet.....it worked at the first installation like a charm.

I'm sorry you are having issues, but it has nothing to do with the ROMs you have used. How are you restoring data when you flash the new ROMs, if you are restoring data? Are you using Titanium Backup?
My wife and I are on RR 6.x and we both have and use What's App. Nothing is wrong with it. It doesn't log us out "every hour" -- never logs us out.
RR 6.x doesn't have "a lot of bugs" -- in fact it's rock stable and that's why I've stuck with it instead of going to Nougat ROMs. And because of xposed modules, which I am loathe to give up just yet.
Considering LOTS of people use What's App on all the ROMs you mentioned -- including my personal experience with two XT1225 on RR 6.X -- it's not the ROMs at fault in any way.
I know it's not the ROMs fault, I've ruled that out since I've changed 5 times of rom and it keeps failing. Yet I don't know what I should do to solve this problem. I'm not restoring any data, I've done a full clean install everytime, no xposed, even no root sometimes.
Up until the recent system update Google Assistant worked perfectly, but now it only works when the phone is unlocked. I've tried clearing the cache, restarting the phone and turning every setting off and back on but it doesn't work. Is there any fix?
Have you tried hiding every Google Stuff including Assistant in Magisk, deleting the cache etc. of them, can you try and see if that changes anything?
It's working fine on my rooted phone, all google stuff is denied in magisk though.
Update: I tried to first delete cache and data for all the google apps and restarting my phone, and now it just says that Ok Google is "currently unavailable for this device" even though I obviously used it just an hour ago. My phone isn't rooted so I can't try magisk. Anything else I can do besides factory reset?
Damn you could try removing your Google Account and readding it to the device and restart, if that doesn't work i don't have any ideas left.
