Phone too hot while fast charging - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions and Answers

So I recently updated to the April Security patch on the 27th April and on the next day was on a trip and had my phone got wet for the first time (used it by the pool). I got it dried before charging on that same day and was able to fast charge as normal.
However, I noticed yesterday that when I plugged my phone and fast charge is enabled, it gets too warm. Too warm than normal and the percentage doesn't go up. It gets too hot that it's uncomfortable to touch so I decided to turn off fast charge and charge slow.
I am using the original charging brick and official Samsung usb cord. I also tried with my QuickCharge compatible powerbank and the same thing happens BUT if I am in a air conditioned room or anywhere cold enough, the phone fast charges and percentage does go up.
Anyone experiencing this as well after the update or is it because I have dipped the phone in water? I need your thoughts.
I have an Exynos Note 8 Duos

Battery does not charge

So friday I noticed that the time would lag. sometimes 20 minutes, sometimes 2 hours behind, a soft reset put it back in normal time. Weird. Today I went to grab it to go to work as it had been charging all night long with a steady green light. I open it up and there is a red icon for the battery...23%..... I hook it back up to the AC adapter and see what it does, it shows a plug to symbolize charging and I check it 30 minutes later, it has dropped to 20%. My bluetooth is off. I now have it hooked up to the AC adapter and removed the battery, i have the battery on a charging dock and the TyTn II has a faint red LED where the normal area for the charging LED is. I am gonna see whats happening in an hour with the battery...
Has this bricked?
Time lags and battery does load now. Its only been in use for 9 months, never been dropped.

I love how people never think the battery is going bad and always think it's the phone right off the bat.
Try another battery and see what happens. Hopefully you bought it new and still have the warranty on it.
Okaaaaaaaaaay....I do not lack in the technical department. The battery charges on the dock and I got it up to 100%. I loaded it back in the TyTn and let it sit for 3-4 hours and it dropped to 90%. I hooked up the AC Charger to it and I got the steady light up on top like it normally charged before all this. The battery continued to drain. I now have it powered completely off and using my old KRZR....(smartphone to cell phone....wonderful) I have a new battery on the way for a week now so it should arrive shortly.
Some wiring leading from the Mini-usb to the actual battery must be corroded or something. I cant explain it...I do live by the sea, and if the contacts are not gold plated in there...I can see some problems occurring. I doubt the warranty would still be intact as I have upgraded the ROM to Win 6.1

Thanks Garfield....I knew there had to be some sort of explanation....

tilt battery charges slowly.

Within the last few days I've notice that my phone is charging at unbelievable slow rate via the wall charge that was supplied. I usually get a full charge in maybe 1-2 hr depending on what percentage the battery is at. Once it is fully charge it hold the charge, but when it drains then it would take like 6 hrs to do a full charge. I've tried to soft reset it to see if the percentage goes up, but it stay the same. I turn off the phone to let it charge, but it still charge at a slow rate. I'm wondering is it time to purchase a new battery.
What do you think? And is there any other test I can do?
The slow charge could be one of a few things... One could be the battery as you suspect (and probally most likely).. Also, are you chargign the phone in a diffrent place? If the battery gets too warm from lack of circulation, it will not charge (or just charge much mroe slowly).. It also could be that your USB port is starting to go... IF you have a stand alogn abattery charger available for it (like one on a docking station) try to charge it on there and see if it still charges as slowly.. Another though could be if you are charging it in your car while using GPS or Wifi.. IF those are left on, they suck down the battery a lot faster and thus it uses the electricity as fast as it can pull it in.. I woudl suggest powering the phone down while charging.. that could also help...
i always charge it in the same spot since i got the phone. i dont have a dock charger. its weird last night i was at 49 and i turn off the phone completely and plug it in. woke up today the orange light indicating that it was charging still was on. turn on the phone and it was at 55 percent. WTF!!!!!!!!!!
I guess that touch pro 2 better come out soon.

i have the same problem. Its either your USB port or the charger, so simply go buy a new charger and if it still does it the port is bad....if not, problem solved
or put it in your computer to charge, that avoids buying a new charger.
usb charging is always slower then wallplug charging as usb can only provide
5v * 0.5Amps == 2.5Watt
where
wall charger can provide as much watt
as the charger is made to
but of cause the pda will only draw as much
amps as it was made to support

Charging problem

So my HTC One does something really weird sometimes and im afraid if this keeps going on something bad will happen to it.
since i got 5 months ago this has happened like 4-5 times. and i charge it every night. so, sometimes when I charge it and go to bed I wake up and check the phone and even though it was charging when I left it it has only charged for like 20% and even though its connnected to the charger the charging icon wont show. plus the phone is too hot. and i dont mean warm or hot on the back. I mean too hot to touch everywhere, not only the back. Everywhere it has aluminium its too hot. this has only happened 4-5 times and I immediately take it off the charger wait a bit to cool off and then start charging it again and everything is fine. While its hot no warnings pop up and the phone works just fine, but its extremely hot and even though its connected to the charger it doesnt charge. why is that?
bump
Hey,
This might be a problem with the charger.
Try using the original charging set provided with the phone.
Is there anything you do with the phone that may be considered out of the normal when you charge it?
Worst-case scenario, this might be a hardware fault. In that case you should be able to claim it under warranty.
Good Luck
Something similar happens to me on occasion. It'll be plugged in but when viewing in/out mah, it actually shows it's draining. Less than when it was unplugged, but still draining although it says ac plugged in. (using battery monitor to view btw). When it does that, and it's left plugged in (like overnight), it's abnormally hot when I check it. I have to unplug it and then plug it back in (sometimes a few times) before charging levels go back to norm.

It happened on me for 1 or 2 times as well, the only different is mine is not really hot. After i flashed custom rom, it seems everything is fine. I guess maybe there are some bugs in the original rom. Now i am using the rom based on google edition. Good luck
I am using the original charger and it does this but it also have done this with a samsung charger i have used some times. something else that I noticed is that when I'm charging and using the phone sometimes the battery percentage drops.

Charging too slow

I've been using my s2 for about a year and and the past few days I notice it's charging slowly now. It takes about 9hours to fully charge and I did have the device fully turned off. Why is it now charging so slow now? It used to take 4hours to fully charge. I'm using the ac adapter that is included with the tablet so it is a genuine.
I just got a Tab S2 and i noticed this too, I was like wow, this is charging slow. I just updated to the latest firmware.
occasionally mine does this too. I just unplug and replug and it gets to normal.

P30 Pro Charging issue or CPU failure?

10 days ago I placed my phone to charge at night unknowing it would be my last time enjoying my P30 Pro.
No water damage. No body damage. It's in pristine condition which is what makes this all worse.
When I woke up and picked up my phone it was burning hot to the touch I literally almost dropped it from the heat.
Tried turning it on and got a red battery indicator and that was it.
The phone refused to charge using multiple oem chargers. I thought it might be a port issue so I used my Huawei wireless charger. The wireless charger blinks fast indicating a malfunction on the phone.
I ordered a new Battery and charging port and did the tear down and replacement phone worked fine until I went to charge it again. That's when the problems started up again.
Battery heats up within 1-2 minutes and the phone turns off. I left it charging for a while and found the CPU board is the hottest part of the phone not the battery.
Is this the end for my phone? Is there a way to fix it?
