As usual when i get an android device i root it, use busybox for my scripts to help speed things up.
i noticed this on two p20 pro's
once i finish running my scripts and restarting im welcomed with a screen to insert a NCK code, my sim card is now non functional, no cell service.
if anyone has the time to look into it it'll be a great help

I've seen your posts about this issue everywhere on xda. It seems like your phones motherboard has been completely wiped. As far as I understand (don't have a big knowledge) your device is completely out of any network. NCK codes normally was asked when your device is sim locked and you out a non accepted simcard. But because you've said somewhere else your IMEI numbers are also wiped. If I was you, I would try 2 things.
First: try an unlocking website to get unlock code for the device by using your main imei number from the device's box. It should work (theoretically).
Second: if the unlock code doesn't work, try to contact huawei and tell them, your device get ****ed up during software update. ( I did it many years ago with my Samsung galaxy, the phone switched off during update and had exactly the same problem)
If non if these works... Then you've learnt something new.

ive had two P20 pros do the same thing - a friend of mine has a mobile shop and he doesnt mind me tinkering with some phones (both have been RMA'd and replaced by huawei)
the issue is caused by some scripts i run, the phone only does it after the scripts have been run, but may be due to flashing magisk in TWRP (i did both pretty much at the same time)
im not sure which scripts exactly caused the issue, but ive linked them in my OP
these are the same scripts ive used on my galaxy s8 and Oneplus 5T with no problems whatsoever.
do you think you can have a look and try and see which could potentially cause it?
maybe do a TWRP backup of all partitions and put them somewhere external just incase you decide to run them.
also unlocking sites dont do anything.

Flashing magisk won't do this. I flashed magick several times since I got the device without any issue at all. It must be the scripts you ran.... I don't want to try it as I need a working device

Can you maybe have a look at the scripts?
Only thing I can think of that would cause the issue is the mounting scripts, has anyone successfully removed journaling from the ext4 partitions?
That is the one I want to work.

You can flash everything again via Funkyhuawei
Or enable journaling on all partitions
I believe removing journaling breaks things, I didn't look into it to find out which partition in particular caused this.

Hi everyone!
I bought recently a new galaxy s advanced and for some weird reason i can't make calls, can't text and can't receive anything. But i can unlock my sim without any problem and i can use mobile internet.
I had first the original gingerbread rom (i9070XXLK2), rupgraded it to 4.1.2 jelly bean(i9070XXLQE), rooted it, upgraded the kernel to this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2140597 and after that tried a cyanogen rom(this one => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2497660 ), went after the cyanogen back to the 4.1.2 but nothing works.
atm it is running original 4.1.2 rooted and cwm.
I also tried galaxSim but it doesn't support the galaxy s advanced, also the *#simlock# thing does not work. I am not sure there is a simlock on the phone because mobile internet works.
If you need more info just ask! Not really sure what information you need to know.
I have no idea what to do now, i hope some1 can help me.

You must do Factory reset when you change ROM. Do it now.
Do you have I9070 or I9070P? On CM you do not have network unless you change tee folder if your phone is I9070P.

I have factory resetted it 3 or 4 times (after every rom flash).
It's an I9070, not the P one.
If some1 tries to call me they hear an automated message tape thing that says my number is blocked and i need to call my provider.
I did call my provider and there is nothing blocking my number or the phone.
When i put my sim in another phone everything works fine so the issue must be in the phone itself.

Try to put some other SIM in phone. See what happens then. And did you wipe dalvik cache too? Try that.

I tried 3 different SIM's but all from the same provider, i am going to visit a friend tomorrow to lend his SIM (he has another provider). I wiped dalvik cache every time i factory resetted it (after every rom flash)
Is it possible there is a piece of hardware in the phone blocking the calls and the messages?
Found out something new, if i do phone (the app) => call settings => additional settings, i get a message saying "network or sim card error".
I am searching for an hour now for a fix but i can't find anything. I will keep searching for another couple of hours, i really want to fix this.

I don't know, as far i can see there is no sign of a provider/region lock. During boot no logo from a provider, sim can be unlocked when it asks for my PIN.
I tried to figure out if there is a simlock with *#SIMLOCK# but the code does not work. Any idea how i can see if there is a sim-lock?

I am not sure where you can look for that. And you bought from store or? You can go there and ask them maybe what is the problem. You have warranty?

I bought it from an auction, a phone shop went bust and they sold thousands of phones. They had over 20 shops and they were not promoting a provider.
it was brand new in a sealed box and as far as i know i don't have warranty.
Is there a place to check if there is still a warranty on the phone?
EDIT: just checked and i have still warranry (produced at oktober 2012) but the problem i have now is, i flashed it a couple of times, isn't my warranty ruined now?

I am not sure how is it in your country about that. You can go to some service center to see if the phone is locked to some carrier.
I just tried to check the binary counter, but as far as i can see it didn't move during the flashes and looks original
When i go in download mode i get this:

I think this means it got still warranty?
If it is, i'm going to put back jelly bean on it and try to send it back to samsung, is there a chance they will fix it and won't find out i messed with it?

Yes, just go back to JB and you are good to go. And you can uninstall app that need root if you have any.

Thanks for the help, just switched back to JB (stock version of course) checked the download screen again and it's still good,
No root stuff on the phone anymore, eveything looks how it's suppose to i think
requested to rma the phone and it will be sent tomorrow.

Sad news, the phone is back from RMA and there is a simlock on it, but the problem is i can't find a method to remove it 4 free (don't want to pay even more for the damn thing). I am going to a shop from the original carrier over a couple of days(i know which carrier simlocked the crap out of it and they have shops not really far from here) but i am not sure they unlock it for free, and tbh the people that work there probably have no clue how to do it, so i don't have a lot of hope for that so i want to try it first myself if that's possible, but i tried already a couple of things and none of them works. Anyone an idea how i can remove it?

I was afraid of that, thanks to confirm. Went to the carrier which locked the phone and they said it is illegal to unlock it, which isn't true of course (checked it everywhere and it is legal) I will find a way to fix it with the carrier, thanks for the help.
Hi guys, I'm trying to unlock my S3 Mini and I'm having no luck so far. I've managed to root the phone using the iRoot (former Vroot) program and it worked nicely. At least it seems it did, now it does ask me to give su eprmissions to allpications and busybox is installed.
As for the unlocking itself, I tried several methods. Firstly, there was some service menu, accessible by a long string of numbers on the dialer, then going to network lock menu and setting something there, but the menu isn't there. Or better said, when I come to the Network Lock, it says only Not Active and no further options available. Then I tried the GalaxSim Unlock just to see, but as it said in the notes, this version of phone is not supported and so it didn't work. Same with another app, Galaxy S Unlock, or something like that. That one needs busybox, so I installed the 1.22 I think, but it says that there is a problem with busybox or something. It does say in the notes, that recommended is 1.17 busybox, so I keep that as a backup hope but it seems again, that the phone is not supported...
So basically, I have a rooted S3 Mini, that is still locked to T-mobile. I'm not sure, whether the country of origin matters here, but I think it was purchased in Austria (I am not the first owner) and need to unlock it for slovak O2. So far I am actually very happy with it's stock ROM, so I'm not planning to flash it completely, just sim unlock. So if anyone has any idea, what I can do to avoid going to a phone service and have it done for money, I'd appreciate it.

Hello, I flashed my mi8 like I do every week.
This week I flashed the xiaomi.eu weekly rom, used it for 10hours, then my phone randomly restarted, and now it don't detect SIM cards and don't turn on WIFI, and the phone restart every X minutes.
I think the persist partition has gone. I can't find it on TWRP.
Any help?

I sent my phone to checked by a professional, because it fell from the couch in the afternoon, and everything is working, no shorts.
Now I was almost 100% that the 19/12/2019 update ****ed my phone.
I already bought a realme x2 , because this is my 2nd xiaomi that die out of nowhere, the last one was a Mi4, random shutted down, and never went back to life.

This issue has happened on many phones over the past 5 years, and it can definitely be resolved, it has nothing to do with unlocking anything, it's a encryption problem.
It is possible that when Mi-Cloud attempts to register your sim card, that some sort of security packet is downloaded to the phone for your protection. Ensure that you can sign into your mi_cloud account and locate your device, if using Miui. Also, be sure that you have international texts enabled, they text just once or twice so it doesn't cost more than a few cents.
With all of that being said a persist issue isn't the same thing as a sim card issue, and if you phone will not boot you are well past taking out your sim card. The easiest and fastest solution is to restore your persist partition from a TWRP backup, if you have one.

If you are meaning that your bootloader is locked then the only option ( if your phone is linked to your MiCloud account) Is to return to a stock rom using Miflash or by downloading a fast boot images rom and using the flash all.bat method. The link that I provided earlier has a fast boot images rom linked.
Clarify whether or not you can access fastboot. If you can in fact access fast boot, and you previously used custom ROMs the instructions for installing TWRP are on the official TWRP website. You simply use ADB to push it yo the recovery partition.

hey whats up man,I hope u still answers questions I really hope you do because I'm in a dire situation where is my xiaomi mi8 cant connect to my sim card .It all started this year after a use of this phone since 2019 january.After my trip overseas , I got my own national sim card in again after that it occurs the problem at first was not that consistent,sometimes it detects, sometimes its good,after a while I thought that the sim card is loose so I wedged the simcard with a bit of paper,about sometime it works and then it starts to overheat when it doesn't detect the sim card inside and starts to reboot on its own, if I remove my simcard,its all good I can use wifi without overheating,how can I actually solve this problem? i quite believe that mi account /micloud that is causing all of this? whats your opinion on this? So I did a stupid and flashed over a single-sim N9600's EFS partition with a dual-sim N9600's, and now the single-sim one won't accept any SIM cards with an invalid/network locked SIM error. I've tried just about everything besides zeroing the EFS (because I don't know how to to that) and so all I can do now is ask all of you beautiful people if anyone could share a TWRP EFS backup from a single-sim N9600 to (hopefully) save mine.

I'm not so sure you can use EFS from one other phone, but if it works then, what consequences might have the owner of the original phone if there is in question security breach?!

I'm not 100% sure myself, but some if the Snapdragon devs said it might be able to rescue it. As for security concerns, what sort of security breaches would you be referring to?

EFS is my phone identify, imei and serial number is in it, if happen to do something illegally over internet, social-media, money laundering or any other crazy things, justice might or will hold me accountable, and is not good idea for me to share that.
But, i think is better for you to check about how to resolve EFS problem, there is e developer who posted one article about to rescue or generate and solve this problem, so check about note edge or note4 as much as i remember.

But, i think is better for you to check about how to resolve EFS problem, there is e developer who posted one article about to rescue or generate and solve this problem, so check about note edge or note4 as much as i remember.

Fair enough. What's odd is that the IMEI still matches the phone itself. When I didn't know what I was doing and overwrote the EFS partition with the backup TWRP did say the restore failed, and was unable to write, but the devs said seeing that was normal. Could the problem be the modem partition instead, or something?
I saw the Note 4/etc threads about zeroing EFS, but since they're quite old I wasn't sure if those instructions still applied to newer devices and if they would break things further than they already are. Should I make another thread asking about that for contemporary devices or would those old instructions still be okay?

I hope someone with better android knowledge will help you o this issue, i used to be good with Amiga OS shell or CLI and ms-dos, but with ADB i just cant do much with it.
Foreword: My time with Vivo has come to an end. After flashing a wrong devicecfg and accidentally rebooting my device it is now in a hard bricked state.
Vivo has locked down EDL, there is absolutely no way to flash or backup anything in EDL mode without the official Tools (namely Vivo AFTool 5.9.80).
Vivo India refers me to Vivo Germany - Vivo Germany has outsourced its customer support to bulgaria.
The people on the other side of the line know absolutely nothing about the technical aspect and refuse to put me through to anyone with any kind of knowhow.
Due to their anti consumer and anti repair attitudes I will not buy another Vivo phone.
With this out of the way: You might end up like me with a hard brick. Or without signal.
Even if this will not save you from a hard brick I can not stress this enough: Make a BACKUP! And backup your data. This will wipe your phone.
This process is IRREVERSIBLE unless you have a split ROM of the chinese Firmware or your own Backup.
THIS or BL UNLOCK will break your portrait mode. No more bokeh, neither in Origin OS nor FunTouch.
Do NOT flash fsg, modemst1 and modemst2. They are commented out in the COMMANDS file.
You do this at your own risk. As said before this might brick your device.
Unlock your Bootloader
Backup your Partitions
Download my Flash Folder and Extract it: Android File Host
Open 01COMMANDS.txt and read the instructions
Open a command shell in the same folder that you can find 01COMMANDS.txt in
Run the given commands in blocks or one after the other
If you do not have signal after flashing you might have to erase modemst1 and modemst2 partitions, so that they get replaced by the backup in fsg.
A magisk flashed boot.img and adb-modded recovery is included so you can flash it after booting up FunTouch once and backup all your partitions again.
Thanks again to @Pervokur for helping me along the way. There is definitely an easier method that involves less risky flash operations.
My phone died on the cross while I was trying to figure it out, so maybe someone else will pick up the torch.
I will not be able to offer any kind of support.

Sorry to hear that, man, you were so close to what looked like an easy switch between ROMs.
I know you said you were no developer but you are still a leap ahead of most of us here. Long do we miss the good old days where ROMs, kernels and pure innovation shortly followed our much-wanted phone when flashing a few ROMs a week was normal.

how did you relock the bootloader, does the portrait mode work again?

the second hand goods, it wrote he change the origin os into funtouch
and he sell this service , it charge 2000 nt dollars in taiwan.

I think the only problem that keeps the phone from being recognized as official FunTouch is dm-verity.
In theory both phone versions have the same exact hardware.

I thought you fixed your issue with I think wifi or your signal, and you were good to go, and you successfully swapped over to Funtouch?? I wanted to find a smoother solution for the dm-verity message and the constant "update to fix broken system prompts" by flash-disabling it. Noticed that portrait mode was not working anymore, so I wanted to return to OriginOS, check if it works and return to FunTouch with a more streamlined, simpler solution to write a guide. Signal was fixed but it sometimes would not connect for the first 10 minutes after a reboot.
When switching back to FunTouch I flashed boot, recovery, vendor_boot, and the vbmeta's while trying to figure out what exactly is needed to get the device recognized as IN. Was not working so I tried devcfg and accidentally rebooted before flashing more partitions. -> Bootloop without recovery / fastboot.

did you try using the OriginOS's camera app on FuntouchOS ? I find it when u use the front facing camera, the portrait mode still work. In the other hand, the back camera is not working in portrait mode. I follow your guide and using the FuntouchOS about 2 days. Everything works fine, except the portrait mode and the AOD. Cant use it anymore.
Oh I see, now that is weird that the portrait mode is not working. So even if you switch not all functionality has returned. Thanks for the explanation. Hopefully someone can continue your work, and find a solution for a seamless transition.
Yeah, returning to Origin did not fix portraits either, so flashing the cam apk itself wouldnt work. I am not sure what exactly is causing it, I just noticed it after flashing FunTouch. Maybe it is disabled by unlocking the BL or a hidden eFuse? Dont know if its possible to get it back.
Im in contact with someone in china, vivo service center remote flashing is my last straw to get this back to work but I doubt that they will do that. A cracked AFTool 5.9.80. would solve all of ours problems but we will not see that for at least half a year i think. I've been gone from android for a few years - all the hurdles surprised me, manufacturers locking down their bootloaders and EVEN edl is kinda disappointing.
