Hi,
I have a new Sony XAV-AX5000 headunit imported from the US that I would like to use in Europe. The problem is that it can't tune even frequencies (e.g. 87.6), only odd frequencies (e.g. 87.5), because its tuner is designed for the north american market.
Do you know any way, via firmware update or service menu, so I can change this setting and be able to tune european stations (even frecuencies)?.
Thank you in advance!
I bought a AX5000 online and I believe it is an Mexican version. There are only RDS but no "AF" & "TP" function. I would be great if anyone can help changing the region to EU version.
Thank you.
I have Sony XAV-AX100 and I can't get even frequencies. Please help.
Solution?
I want to import one too. Have you find any solution?
Step 4 initial setup of manual lists setting am and fm tuning step size. You read the manual and did that right?
Specs:
FM Tuning range: 87.5 MHz – 108.0 MHz (at 50 kHz step) 87.5 MHz – 108.0 MHz (at 100 kHz step) 87.5 MHz – 107.9 MHz (at 200 kHz step) FM tuning step: 50 kHz/100 kHz/200 kHz switchable
I hear crickets
3 people, same issue, unable to RTFM . Crickets!
Anyone managed to find a solution?
Same issue - trying to get even fm frequencies on a system bought in the US.
even tried to flash the system with a European firmware, but since the system is already at the latest firmware, it doesn't allow me.

I also want to import this head unit and hope radio can be fixed to work with all frequencies. Where exactly did you find a European firmware? Are you sure they differ?
I found that firmware files from sony.in and sony.com match completely (same size and checksum). From some YouTube video I could tell that Indian version doesn't have siriusxm button and has all the FM frequencies. Does this mean that firmware is identical and it checks which region your unit is on the device itself?..
Will it be possible to edit the firmware somehow? Looks like some modifications were made to AX100 (not FM related but still.)

Can't find "Tuner step" in US manual: https://www.sony.com/electronics/su...55f40ecf39615259f1d8a12231c8e8f/47320621M.pdf
It is in Australian and Indian manuals. Looks like they completely disabled this option for US model? Now I worry it could be a hardware limitation
I imported the device but couldn't change the FM step frequency, and also couldn't install a new firmware into the device, but that may be since the version that came with the device was already the same version as the one I was trying to install.
My advice is to not buy it from the US.

I can't find Tuner Step in the settings menu. I was using 1.00 firmware version, I've just upgraded to 1.03 and still no tuner step option. According to the manual, it should be between Steering Control and Clock Time, but it's missing. Maybe it's a hardware related option.

I had a similar problem on my Australian model after changing the tuner step once, it was greyed out.
For me the fix was doing a factory reset, and one of the "starting options" on that was the step size, and I changed it back to the smallest.

This is "actually NOT" a bugs and it is mainly the reason updates of the database is "huge" and if you are not at the WiFi connection, it will be take some times to finish the download.
As the result, you may have a corrupted database and cause the apps fail to load.

You may get the database updated via the setting section. Please DO NOT enable the "Auto Update" features, I notice it could be an issue for some users which their data connection is slow or not in WIFI mode.

This seems to be the pre-release device from way back. It doesn't have the NEXUS branding at the back and the user's manual shows an LG Optimus UI on ICS. Still the same device but not 4.0 when applied to the FCC I think.

Why were people moaning about the battery being screwed in? Looks easy to get in and out without breaking.....
It does look very poorly made though, not exactly eye pleasing like the iPhone 5 and I can already see dry joints and that wire seems like a work around for a device that was designed for something else and they modded it....

Yeah exactly, it's probably just some LaTeX document they generated with little to no attention to the fact that the featureset is different from other phones they have.

Last I checked a few months ago no, at least among popular Android 5.1 ROMs, which I think are mostly derived from CM.
I've never checked some Ancient 5.0 ROMs though, and 5.0 is the minimum for AA.
Basically, the H.264 video encoder does not work, and the CM dev did not expect that to ever be fixed or even fixable.
Same for GT-N7100, GS2/Note1 and even GT-I9000.
Android Auto working on i9300 custom ROM
Hi all, well this is my first post on XDA but not my first visit, I hope you find it helpfull... (and sorry for the long post)
I recently fond myself unable to use the Android Auto car projection on my i9300, I did a little googling and came across this post, but the answer of mikereidis did not convince me, since I found in my logcat the following line:

I don't know if that means that the encoder is working but I found no errors or warnings pointing to h.264 (again, I did not check it thoughtfully). What I did found, when I started the AA app, was the following:

Even if there where a codec problem, the first problem was RAM... But wait, i9300 has 1GB RAM of which only 827 MB are aviable to user, we where only 23552 KB away.
Where is my precious RAM going? The answer to that question came with the help of [1]. Sadly there is no app or customizable kernel that supports editing the reserved device memory, so I had to recompile the whole kernel (First time doing that too =D ).
After a few days, I downloaded the LineageOS 14.1 code and came across its configuration parameters, which are the following:

This are the things that take most of our RAM, but modifying them has its cost, lowering the FIMCx makes the camera crash, but lowering the "CONFIG_ION_EXYNOS_CONTIGHEAP_SIZE" has a more mild effect. I changed it from 71680 to 48128, and compiled. The result is the following:

I am sitting with the same problem on my Samsung S3 with Lineage OS 14.1 trying to run AA with my car display.
Do you have a compiled ROM with the changed settings that you can share. I am a layman at this and would appreciate the help.
Thanks.

But, do you can connect, with this ROM, to your car multimedia? I'm asking this cause I have a ROM that supports Android Auto, but the car multimedia doesn't accept the connection.
Tks.
Sadly I do not use the i9300 anymore so I cannot tell you if it is working with the latest AA updates. I worked back then just beacuse I was able to squeeze a little more RAM into the user pool. If they raised the minimum RAM requirements of AA it wont work...
Nevertheless I will search for the ROM in my backups and try to upload it for you (give me a couple of days). If you want to build it yourself you will have to download the lineageOS code and edit the kernel config, using a text editor or the "make menuconfig" command (if I remember well). As I said in the post, you only have to reduce the video heap size which is under the option name "CONFIG_ION_EXYNOS_CONTIGHEAP_SIZE" .

Hi @RawthiL,
I'm also interested in making AA work on my S3, could you please explain how you managed to get the error log when launching the app ? I'd like to check if requirement changed in recent version. If not, I'll be interested in your custom ROM (if you still have it)
@RRvello if @RawthiL sent it to you privately, I'm interested in getting it too
Thanks Guys
I sent the ROM to @RRvello, but I don't know if it is working, maybe he can give us some feedback on that. I will send the link to you via PM @lenuisible2 so you can try it.
I think that I used the adb logcat command while launching the android auto app. have you checked that?

Thanks @RawthiL for the file and the command, I'll try them and let you know !
really
very useful and helpful thread
thanks
It does work, Thanks @RawthiL !
I used to have "Your Device is not compatible ..." with all CM and Lineage version I tried, and now the connection to the car is established. Didn't make much tests, but it looks laggy, nothing surprising for a 7 years old device.
Next I will try the mirroring hack, not sure it will be usable because of the under powered phone, but I'll give it a try.
AA mirror works, without much lag !
I just followed the usual tutorial, no need to downgrade Google Play Services or anything else:
- root GS3
- install AA unlock/AA mirror
- launch unlock, grant root access, unlock, reboot
- launch AA mirror, configure settings you need
- connect phone to the car, go to speedo icon, choose AA mirror
Sound and video are working great, I don't have a touchscreen on my car (Audi A4 B9), so I have to navigate with the phone touchscreen (I enabled the Show Taps dev option to see where my finger is).
Of course it's not safe to play with phone / stare at screen while driving...
Thanks again to @RawthiL for making this test a success on my old unused GS3 !
Great to hear that!
Thanks for sharing how to enable the screen mirroring, I was not aware that you could do that. The lag issue is indeed annoying in AA...

There is an option in Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi > Dual-Band Wi-Fi = Enable this one.

Did you actually enter the Wi-Fi submenu ? Post a screen because you're likely looking in the wrong page...
Dual Band Wifi
Yes, I have Dual Band Wifi option. And i'm on WW_Phone-17.0823.2007.58
Also în WW firmware but I don't have this option. But connection to 5g WiFi is possible.
In my phone their is no network and internet option it's just setting then wifi
You can also open up the Armory Crate, on the bottom hit Console, scroll down to Storm Network acceleration, you can turn on Dual Wifi there and set the two networks
Yes i did it but it shows it is available on only few games

Try looking in Network & Internet - > Wi-Fi.
BTW, You must disable casting to enable dual band WiFi. I remember when I turn on casting i got a message saying that dual band WiFi cannot be enabled if you enable casting. I opted for casting over dual-band wifi because I have a Nvidia shield TV that I frequently cast to.
i have the same problem, i do not see a dual band option neither in the armory crate nor the wifi settings :/
My version has started from WW. once I update the firmware manually the dual-band wifi option appeared. but the first time it was not there... by the way, I don't see 5G network band in this phone. I have Two 5G enable router in my house. This phone does not show any 5G network band. guys any suggestion?
as long as I know my version made for the Asian zone.
CN model here. Running latest firmware (to date) and I have the dual-wifi option it works fine but can cause some strange cases when websites load super slow or latency is actually worse

Sure I'm using WW_Phone-17.0823.2012.131
I know it shows WW but I'm certain it's a Chinese model as the box it came in had Chinese PUBG ads all over it with full Chinese instructions. The seller also the phone marked as a CN model on the product page.
[Manual Update Tutorial (if you're not on latest)]
- Manually download it from the support section on the official Asus website in the firmware section (here)
- Place the file on the root of internal storage
- Reboot and a update prompt should display
(The update files from ASUS's site are full updates so you shouldn't need to worry about being on the correct previous version)

Updated my last reply to include a short tutorial
So, i thought if the realme 8 has NFC or not and searched it in YouTube and found soume videos that show it has NFC but when i searched it in settings i could not find the freature, i thought first that it may be because the videos i watched had a deferent realme 8 variant from another country, but i wanted to see if i find anything in the settings from a shortcut app(shortcut apps sometimes show hidden settings) and found this

so when ever i open it it crashes can someone look into this and figure out if i can someone enable nfc.. sorry if my English is bad this is not my first language..
Initial question - have you uninstalled / disabled anything using ADB?
Enabling and disabling NFC is done with the quick settings toggle.
If you don't see this toggle, try using the EDIT button to see if the toggle is hidden and then bring it up into quick settings.
In the settings, NFC is located under "Connection & sharing"
If for whatever reason you don't see these, there is an issue with your device. I tried googling around and found no mention about Realme 8 not having NFC. Region-specific versions very rarely differ in NFC/WIFI/Bluetooth/GPS functionality, they mostly come with different bloatware and antennas.
I'm from Europe, so my European version came with minimal Realme bloatware and all of it could be uninstalled without needing to use ADB.
Also try uploading screenshots of the "About phone" tab, if someone more knowledgeable tries to help you, this info might be useful to them.

I'm sorry about that. Realme website also has no mention of NFC on the indian version, but it does on my european version, along with more FDD-LTE supported bands.
Interestingly, the build number and hardware version are the same as my device, I would think atleast 1 of those would be different.
Also weird is that you can search for NFC and actually get results, to me it seems like the NFC chip is present, but is for whatever reason disabled on software level. If this would be true, rooting the device might allow you to enable it, but you would need someone way more knowledgeable than me to help you.

I was thinking about rooting it but at time my laptop isn't with me.. and it also does not have any custom rom since there is no official twrp for it
Hi, use this page if not speak Spanish use translator.
https://www.hardreset.info/es/devices/realme/realme-8/
at least in EU Version - NFC located at right segment to the Cams ...
tested - working good ... also as writing to
* on mifare classic
Indian versions don't have NFC. Even my last phone moto g6 had NFC for other countries but not in India
Cost cutting maybe , idk
