So I have a 5th gen Fire 7 and I wanted to ask if there was something to make the performance better since it only has a low-end quad-core processor and 1 GB of RAM. Removing the bloat helped a bit but some stuff still consume RAM (can't view what apps or packages are causing it).

Best option is (perhaps) a downgrade to FireOS 5.4 followed by removal of Amazon apps that you will never use. Many of those apps pre-load themselves into memory and/or run background tasks that tax limited device resources. You can find more info in the General section of the forum.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/amazon-fire/general
delete amazon apps on 5.4.0
i am on 5.6.0.0 and apps wont uninstall with adb command even if (success) is displayed in the command window.
if i downgrade to 5.4.0 will it be possible to uninstall these bloatwares ? thnaks

Yeah i have a fire 7" and 5" i think both 7th gen. I am tired of their sluggish performance. I have seen a thread somewhere where is mention how to downgrade to 5.4.0 and then it is possible to debloat it..
has anyone done this and how is performance after?

So is it possible to root the all new Kindle Fire HD 7" ($139.99) with Fire OS 3.0 on it? I'd be looking to put Android 4.2.2. Or is it possible to load the Play store onto the device?
If so, is it also possible to renew the device back to Fire OS 3.0?
Well its brand brand new ya know? I am also curious about this question booting andriod that is
I've used them bone stock with Fire OS 3.0 and for $139 it works flawlessly, however i'd love to get the Google Play store at the least.

Have you tried Bin4ry's Root Many Android yet? It has worked for every Kindle Fire since the second generation devices were released, so I find it hard to believe that it wouldn't work for the newer devices as well.

I haven't purchased one yet. I've only used one a work.
It probably won't be far off. @Hashcode seems to be already working on it, based on this.
It doesn't appear that he ever ended up getting it done because he hasn't posted in about a month. I actually went out and purchased one, so I am quiet eager.

Hashcode is a busy guy. He develops for about a dozen different devices, so adding one more to that roster is going to take a while. Yes, we're all eager for his work as well, as his ports of CM10.1 and CM10.2 are amazing. Even if we have to wait a year, Hashcode, and if not him, someone else will get around to developing for the new Fire:fingers-crossed:
And if you did go out and actually buy one, why not try doing what @soupmagnet suggested and try the Bin4ary root method on it? Amazon may have forgotten to patch the fake-backup we use to "sneak in" the root binaries.

Could I get the link to the method? This would be the first time I have rooted a device, however i'm sure I could do it. I've been building computers since I was 14.
I don't think it would work though, because this Kindle runs version 11.3.0.3 not 7.4.6

Here's the link. I know, it's for 7.4.7, but hey, who knows? It may work :fingers-crossed:
And the KFHD was the first anything I've ever rooted (although jailbreaking iOS was nothing new). Supposedly, if you're familiar with Linux, Android's not that different. If you take your time to read everything carefully and follow the instructions, everything should go smoothly.

OK - So I've been at this for over 4 days and here is what I know to date:
11.3 Kindle is fairly easy to root thanks to many people around here.
Root Many will not provide you access to Google Play on the 11.3 OS Kindle
All the forums that propose solutions to getting it to work around here - don't work on 11.3
Widgets and Live Wallpapers don't seem to work if Google Play is not working
KFFirstAide will not allow you to get Google Play working on 11.3
As far as I can tell, while no one has outright said it, you can not correctly get Google Play working on an 11.3 Kindle Fire as of 12/27/13
Please correct me if I am wrong, I'd love to be told and shown otherwise.

From what I can tell your and read. That is correct. Root is fairly easy though it took me a while cause what most threads dont tell you is you need the sdk so you get the drivers working properly. Which is what I had to do. I have put all the google apps on my kindle but I get force closes a lot and can't use the market. Might be wondering how is any of this useful then? As you can still log in I just use the google apps I like example YouTube and Play Music. But as of now I have heard of some getting market to work but I have not seen a definite way to get that done.

I'm a bit confused with this. I have one on the way, but I'm concerned it will have been updated to the latest firmware. Are there downgrades available if it is locked down, or is it just not an issue with the latest firmware?

hi,
I don't know if this is specific to fire or a general cyanogen question, but I work with fire- so there it is.
According to the tutorials I see (most notably Rootjunkies https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4dwguHoxTvo) when I install CM I also need to put in SU in TWRP (or any other bootloader). Can I not to? What would happen?
I'd rather that apps I'll install be at their maximum segregation possible and have no loopholes to wiggle through.
Thank you very much.
You don't have to start a new thread, for every question
you have a few other threads, that you were are getting answers in
starting a new thread just means you have to wait
till someone with an answer sees your new thread
rather than getting an notification that you replied in an existing thread
it's up to you...

Oh,
I actually thought it's more proper and organized that way. Separate issues- separate threads, and only those who are knowledgeable on that question would reply .
I'll try better next time.
thank you.

SU and SuperSU are entirely different things. SuperSu is a root manager that controls application access and elevated permissions. It is optional with CM 12.x which has an integrated root manager. SuperSU is a well respected third party tool that offers additional capabilities.

Also, SU- so this is the command/file that gives the instruction to android to give administrative rights?

Amazon will usually remove lock screen ads and other promotional annoyances without charge if you complain. Alternatively, you can downgrade to FireOS 5.4.0.0 and use the debloat script. I recommend the former route as it is easy and doesn't maroon the device on a backlevel FireOS build.
How would you downgrade to 5.4.0.0? From what I have been reading 5.6 cant be downgraded..? I really just want to get rid of the bloatware...

Litmus test is FireOS. If currently installed version is 5.3.2.1 or above there is no root solution, no rollback option and hence no custom ROM.

Short answer: find a Windows computer and use the 'SuperTool' to root using KingRoot, block OTA updates, replace KingRoot with SuperSU and install FlashFire. You'll likely run into issues with each step and have to read through various threads to find solutions. Once the above tasks are complete you'll need to futz with dates to circumvent a FlashFire time bomb' and then risk a soft brick flashing one of the two remaining custom ROMs for this device.
Long answer: curl up for a few evenings with your favorite beverage, read through dozens of threads (hundreds of posts) understanding 'the process' and 'gotchas' only to be rewarded with a sluggish, technologically inferior device that runs poorly even with a well tuned custom ROM. Lousy ROI.
This device is well past its prime. Those that can boot TWRP (your device can't) can install a custom relatively easily. For everyone else it's probably best to remain on FireOS.
