Hi my friends,
my question is:
Can Tasker send messages with Signal Messenger via Google Assistant voice input? Like WhatsApp does?
When I'm driving with my car I send messages to my friends via google maps + google Assistant. The available Messengers are WhatsApp and SMS. Signal doesn't provide a option.
I think it should be possible to provide a option for Signal.
How can I connect signal with tasker?
If signal is set as your default messaging app, and google assistant doesn't recognize it as an option to send through, I suggest you start by reviewing the signal app's manifest for an intent that can be used to send a message. If the app isn't designed for external access, then it can not be "plugged into" the way that messages (SMS) and whatsapp are.
Without a hook to externally call the send message function in your signal app, you'll have to make use of AutoVoice, AutoInput and Tasker to mimic the google assistant integration

Hi Everyone,
I have a sprint touch pro and I am using Google voice as my voice mail provider. Since I no longer use sprint as the voice mail provider I don't get the nice voice mail notification on my phone. Is there a way to hack the phone so that when someone leaves me a voice mail on Google voice I would get the notification on my phone? I hope I explained this correctly and any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
the easiest thing you can do is have google send you a sms when you get a vm. just go to google voice and click on settings (under general notifications)
Use YouMail.com , it does exactly what you're looking for, and you can still use your google voice number.
I am using Slim ICS, and like the feature to send an SMS to an incoming caller.
I use google voice, and have set it as the default SMS app, but when responding to a call with the canned SMS messages it always uses the phones messaging app instead of google voice (shows the wrong phone number to caller).
Is there some file I might edit to change this?
Wondering if anyone uses Google Voice as their primary number for texting and calling. Do 3rd party SMS apps allow you to use your Google Voice number to text? Also, I don't know why but I was using it before but sometimes I wouldn't get text notifications, or there would be a long delay.
Yep. I use hangouts to text/mms.
I too use my Google voice number as my primary number. Sometimes there are some hiccups but for 99% of the time it's perfect and easier now since the hangouts integration.
Same here, hangouts works great for Google Voice SMS unless you're using Android Wear. When I send an SMS from my smart watch it won't use hangouts, using my normal cell number instead. Setting Hangouts as the default SMS app doesn't fix it.
I even take it a step further. I setup Google Voice to ring my SIP number. So when I'm on wifi I have tasker turn off my cell antenna. Saved a lot battery life on my S3, just testing it on my N6 now. I still get calls through SIP (people calling my google voice number) and I can dial out on my google voice number using hangouts dialer and use hangouts for SMS. When I'm not on Wifi, Tasker and secure settings turns off SIP calls so I don't get calls twice.
I'm thinking about "graduating" to Google Hangouts after using Google Messenger for quite some time. Does Hangouts work like Apple's text messenger app where it sends the message via wifi or cellular signal and the app is interachangeable via desktop ?
I was playing with it earlier and it seems like unless the other person has hangouts as well with the sync'd e-mail address, it's basically just Google messenger ?
If the contact on the other end has their phone number tied to their hangouts app then it'll default to a hangouts internet message but regardless you'll have a little box in the bottom left to switch between hangouts and sms message sending. The app on the Chrome will only send Hangouts message, not SMS.

I saw the toggle for switching between SMS and hangouts. How can hangouts make phone calls, but not pick up SMS ?
How does the phone dialer work for Hangouts ? You just dial out in on the desktop and use headphones and a mic ?

Hangouts can send calls to outside numbers but not receive them, I'd assume not sending SMS on PC is from the idea that you wouldn't receive the response. Unlike Mac and iOS the app on PC for hangouts doesn't interact with your phone at all.
The dialer on hangouts sends calls to outside numbers using the internet, the person on the other end will see the call coming from a hidden number. If you call someone that has hangouts then you'll send a hangouts call with the option to add video to the call. On PC it'll use whatever your default (communications) mic and speakers.
Hello,
For those who would like to send SMS with their Google home with advanced UI, it is now possible with the Android application that I developed ?
If you already know "Talk to Mister Home" the voice application that allows you to put time delays in routine: https://assistant.google.com/u/0/services/a/uid/000000136c3abfe7?hl=en
Now in combination with the "Mister Home SMS" application you can send voice SMS up to 10 contact through your Google home using the connection from your smartphone: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ghomefrance.ghf.misterhome2
You can also send distress SMS by voice on speakers or with widget on smartphone home screen.
