No signal in my z3+ - Xperia Z4/Z3+ Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello to everyone
I have problem with my z3+. There is no signal - sometimes it's working but once I'll try to make a call or something then signal is frozen and then disappear with "no service" status info.
I've replaced an antenna IC, antenna cable and both flex tapes (I have few broken z3's).
But I know where is the issue - when I took second frame (in which digitizer is not working) then everything works like normal.
What is installed in frame, which can mess with signal? I've cleaned all connectors but result is still the same.
I hope you will help me fix this phone, my backup one is c6603 and half of applications aren't working there...

What a joke man..

After the repairing of my X1's ribbon cable I went home gladly with my X1 functional... partly..
I noticed there's an error in signal in my X1 when I was checking my phone at the SE center.. But I thought it was maybe due to poor reception thus I neglected it..
Now I know that there's some new problem arise.. Any idea how a ribbon cable can affect this?
The signal error is not due to flex, but most likely an assembly error/other fault. Could you explain better what type of error are you getting, e.g. SIM is not read, connection cannot be made, calls cannot be made, data is not received?
Flex contains connectors for front camera, ear speaker, LCD, light sensor, front keypad PCB and optical keypad module, as well as LED lights on all sides positioned on the flex itself - therefore problems with any of the above can be attributed to the flex. However, flex consists of different separate areas, where problem with one will not necessarily mean the whole lot of things will be affected. For example, not working ear speaker may be present with working rest, VC camera not working, while LCD is fine etc. When the lot fails as a group, then the problem is either flex at the slide point, flex at the PCB connection point or the main PCB itself, in which case it may not necessarily be the flex. So what is the new problem?

It read my SIM card but I'm not getting any connection signals from my service provider.. Yeah most likely would be an assembly error
I really got annoyed that I need to go back to the service centre and fix it again. Today I went there and they said technician aren't there and I need to return tomorrow.
Thanks for the reply. Now I learned something from you. Thank you

The antenna module is very easy to access, see disassembly procedure and see if you can reposition it. http://www.formymobile.co.uk/xperiadisassembly.php Speaker and antenna module is positioned on the side OPPOSITE to the camera, you can see removal on photo 4.

I took my phone to the centre for another checkup. And sadly they can't even identify what's going on with my signal too. They're sending it to the HQ. Guessed it'll take another long time to be fixed. Hope I'll get Leo for free tonight. Then I'll just leave my X1 goodbye~

Wifi/GPS problem after motherboard replacement

Hi guys.
Yesterday i replaced motherboard on my N1, previous motherboard was broken, after replacement everything is work fine, except wi/fi and gps. My wi-fi module catches the signal slightly, like w/o antenna, gps have not been able to get to work now.
My question is, where is wi fi module exactly? I try to made some photos of my donor phone with pars in some days, but maybe there is some document or photos with this parts, that I will be able to analyze on my phone
If I remember right, the wifi antenna is hooked up near the upper left side of the phone (screen facing down). Verify that is fully connected.
Check out ifix it they have a tear down of the nexus one so you can see where everything is.
Thx for your advices, i'll try to check antenna

[Q] Replaced speaker, now no wifi/bt/cell.

I replaced the speaker in my i897 and now I get no signal for WiFi, Bluetooth and cellular service. I pulled the case back off and noticed the smaller gold spring loop that makes contact with the inside of the case in the corner near the camera is broken off. Would this be causing my issue or is the new speaker or something else to blame. Where do I start diagnosing and is there a DYI to fix the broken gold spring piece. (Identical to the one that touches the battery cover but smaller and under the case.
Thanks, I'm not ready to give up this phone.

I haven't opened mine in a while but if I remember it right, the connections are right beside the speaker so you most likely damaged it. I can't help you much myself on how to repair it but mobiletechvideo.com might be able to (or even repair it for you). Good luck!

The white antenna cable near the speaker appears fine, the new speaker works fine, WiFi works withing 8' of the router. Leads me to believe there is some antenna connection servicing BT/WiFi/cell in one not making a solid connection. Its not the large white cable though.

Our phone is known to have bad signal (Wifi, GPS and such) when there's something covering the top of the phone so perhaps there's something interfering near the antenna?

Xperia Z1 C6903 - Third Motherboard already giving glitches

Hello,
I have had two replacements of motherboards (done myself pretty perfectly) on my Xperia Z1 C6903 , purchased either from Ebay or Aliexpress. Both of them started exhibiting same behaviour after some usage (original one and first replacement), that they lose the touch screen/digitizer functionality. The LCD and Touch digitizer is perfect, however it refuses to work with the board. I have tried changing the flex cable an of no use. Maybe during the fitting of the flex cable clips there could be a damage to the pins on the main board. I still have the two boards with me and I tried cleaning and replacing them again and again but of no use.
It is surprising to see that two boards exactly ended up with the same problem. I have now got my third board and it is working fine for touch screen but giving me GPS troubles. I use the GPS regularly on my commute, however the google maps or sygic constantly keeps giving me a message of GPS signal Lost , intermittently and frequently . Have tried all known solutions of clearing the GPS cache from service menu and so on. H
Hence i need to know from the experts:
1. Is there a solution for touch screen problem to be fixed, maybe a software glitch (i didnt update the software anyways since I was using the last version of Dstrikerz ROM).
2. Any solution to make the GPS work stably, have opened and double checked all point/pins/contacts on the body and mid frame which supposedly could be the GPS antenna or cables.
Thanks for your help

XZ3 WIFI and Network connection problem

Hi Guys, could you please help me out? A few weeks ago my XZ3 started to act weird. It working perfectly, and after a random time, suddenly its losing both the wifi and mobile network connection (bluetooth is OK). Sometimes a simple restart solves this, but other times its not helping. I tried factory reset, but the problem still occurs. Could it be somehow software related or it must be a harware issue? Any information could help a lot! Thank your very much in advance.

issue may be in chipset so repairing is hard.
I gave it to seller then he sent me another xz3 phone.
now I don't have such issue.
I think it is a manufacturing issue, few phones has this same issue in all Xperia models like xz2,xz3, xperia 1....

i got it fixed from a local repair shop. The issue is caused due to some loose components on the motherboard. There are a bunch golden pins around the edges of the main board, the repair guy called them "signal boosters". i don't know what they're actually called. They're all connected to two main signal boosters right in the middle of the motherboard.
UPDATE: it's the plastic middle frame of the phone!! i finally figured it out.

I'm sorry it wasn't the middle frame either. the issue came back after a couple of weeks, mostly when phone got hot under heavy use. i figured when i pushed hard on the side of the phone where sim card lies, the phone would lose signal for a sec or two and then come back to normal
I finally managed to fix my phone somehow it hasn't dropped signal even once in two months. i haven't been able to pinpoint what exact component is malfunctioning that's why I'm going to list every little thing i did..
it's definitely one of the metal contact points on the edges of the motherboard near the sim card tray that connect with the phones casing to boost the wifi and 4g signal. i put a small piece of medical tape on top of each contact point near the sim card tray to completely block them off. ( I've marked in the attaced pic exactly which contact points you have to block )
I've also removed the plastic dummy sim holder that sits just below sim card tray to fill the gap between metal sim holder and phones body. put a piece of paper medical tape there instead. put a small piece of paper in the top right corner of phone housing so that motherboard would stay a little above the housing when you screw it (see pic)
make sure motherboard screws aren't too tight
Don't worry it has little to no effect on phones signal reception, you're only blocking the sub antenna

So what you did at the end?
Any update on the matter?
I was able to partially solve my problem with my phone, I took out the black antenna frame and very carefully placed transparent scotch tape (because it´s thinner than medical tape) in all the contacts that are marked in red in the atached picture but now I´m thinking that I shouls have placed tape also on the places marked with green.
So what change I experienced on my phone with this method?
well the phone now has Network and wifi signal all the time and very ocassionaly it does lose the network and wifi signal for a second but when this happen the phone does not say that there is no sim card and does not freeze and restart, it just recovers signal by itself and I can continue using the phone.
