Android Auto install onto HU not Android - Android Auto General

I have long drives between Orlando and Miami every week, and I have a Headunit that I really want to hack into and install Android Auto, since Nissan navigation is mediocre. Is there any hack or anything that I can do to make Android Auto to be available on my CUV's headunit?
All input is much appreciated!

LF: Android Auto Experience, without the Wires

feedback non-existent in H/U forum so thought i'd try my luck here.
seeking recommendation to be installed into RSX
back in January I looked into Android Auto/CarPlay from the brand names but they require USB connection to phone = dealbreaker
not looking to DIY a tablet into the dash
LF a 2DIN head unit that works very similiarly to AA without the wires.
I'm looking to have run this app pretty much on default
http://www.androidcentral.com/hands-automate-android-auto-your-phone
will be installing myself
to be used with Galaxy Nexus GSM on 4.3...quite long in the tooth my next phone is likely Note 5 or the new LG Nexus
convenience is key. I just want to enter the car and have BT auto connected to the phone and ready to stream music without having to pull out my phone.
voice-enabled messaging, google apps, backup cam, capacitative touch screen are all requirements. volume knob, 2gb ram, quad-core processor and large community dev support would be nice.I didn't look at Hufei and AN-21 because their specs are dated as they've been around for a while now. I've been waiting for android 5.0 head units to hit the market but it's taking forever.
i'm not an audiophile so as long as the sound quality isn't worse than a stock Honda radio I'm good which is only mediocre at best.
I think you're confused about a few things.
1. Android Auto requires USB, period. It doesn't work any other way.
2. AutoMate is not the same as Android Auto. It's a launcher that looks sort of like Android Auto. It has nothing to do with your other phone, bluetooth, etc. It's standalone. If you want to stream music from your phone you're gonna have a bad time.
The NU3001 is the best (i.e., most modern) head unit available today. Because the source code is available the community has developed a ROM that is car friendly and does work with bluetooth streaming, Google Now, etc. You can run AutoMate on it if you want but I finally uninstalled it as it's just a (pretty) layer that gets in the way between your maps/music/phone apps and you. There are variants available with a physical volume knob but to my knowledge they don't have one for a Honda.

Android Auto has Wifi support built in, but AFAIK my Headunit app is the only way to make it work at present, unless you have access to some unreleased devices/apps.
To Original poster: I don't think a solution with all the features you want exists yet. We've been waiting for decades for useful, robust implementations of the sort of environment that Android Auto and CarPlay provide.
I hope that within the next 2 years we will have solutions that are useful and "just work". The ones we have now clearly need work and seem as immature as Android 1.x and 2.x compared with the Android 5.x/6.x level solutions we want.

Create my own Head Unit with Android Auto?

Hello everyone,
I'd love to have a display to which I could connect my Android phone (via Android Auto) in a similar way like I can do in my Seat Ibiza, just so I could have Android Auto on a big(ger) screen on any car I'm driving (parents, brother, friends, work).
I've done some googleing, but couldn't find a successful project (there's one person who said it was quite unstable), so I came here to get confirmation for either side.
I appreciate your answers! Thanks a lot in advance!
You can install Android Auto app on your Android Head Unit, but you get the problem when you try to call. The app thinks that the radio is the phone, and does not recognizes it as a handsfree. If somebody could tweak it, it would be wonderful.

music lags while using Maps

In Android Auto, When I'm listening some music from my phone and having G. Maps on the screen, there's always some lags in music when the map's moving (like in an higwith exit road)
I have a rooted Pixel 3 and a Mazda 3 2018 (Android Auto from MZD AIO)
I've seen in developper's options many options about bluetooth, what should be the best parameters?
Thanks!
I see the same thing when using my Chinese dongle on my android head unit. I've played around with developer settings in Android auto and the settings on the dongle and nothing seemed to help. It seems to be something low level in the dongle (in your case the head unit or mod app) that causes this where moving the map seems to overwhelm to the system.
Using the same headunit and phone but instead using Emils' head unit reloaded application I do not get any sound issues, even when running in 720p mode.
It seems like the issue we're seeing is more to do with the Android auto implementation in hardware/software.
Ok, I'll try it and see how it's going. Thanks

Android auto

Did anyone installed Android auto in a Nexus 4?
I was thinking use It as a only Android auto phone in the car but i tried many ROMS and the app is always asking for Google services, i installed all of them but It doesnt work.
I just last week paid £329 for mazda to install android auto on my car. I was already pissed off that mazda have essentially hobbled it by not allowing the touch screen to work while driving, but I was ready to start demanding a refund until I saw your message

I have a question about using Waze with Headunit Reloaded and Android Auto:

Is there a way to use Waze in Android Auto aand Headunit Reloaded without having it running on my phone?
I have a Galaxy Z Fold4 (latest update), and an Android head unit in my car via USB. If I keep Waze open and running on my phone, it will show up in Android Auto on my phone (and therefor in Headunit Reloaded). However, it won't show Waze if it's not open and running on my phone.
I don't want to have to hit the Waze app on my phone every time I get in my car. Is there any way to keep it in AA/HUR when it's not running in the background on my phone? Is there any setting I'm missing? Other apps such as PowerAmp don't have to be running in the background on my phone for them to appear on AA/HUR.
