Basically,
I've got a Sony head unit and it comes with a App Remote which is poorly made and stays running with notification even when bluetooth is disconnected form my Sony head unit.
I want to be able to kill the app when it disconnects from the headunit bluetooth.
Hope I explained it well,
Many thanks.

use an app killing app/ram freeing app, or greenify.
Is there a specific question?
I do a similar thing with a bluetooth receiver. I use the app TaskKill. It was pulled from the Play Store, but works amazing. It needs root to function. I have a profile setup to look for the bluetooth connection, and start a couple of apps. As an exit task, I have a "Off" task setup thats called upon disconnect. This "off" task uses the TaskKill plugin to kill those same apps. You can find the apk by doing a google search for "taskkill tasker plugin apk", that reddit thread by the developer has it listed.

I tested the Built-in Tasker "Kill app" function on Chrome and it seemed to work without root or the need for plugins.
One thing I noticed when I used Bluetooth related tasks in Tasker however, is that a disconnection of even 100th of a second could cause the exit task to play out, so I think it is good to put a wait and IF to check again.
I'm new to Tasker and trying to set up a profile that will start my radar detector app when connected to my car's BT, and one that will exit the app when BT disconnects.
I've been successful in creating the profiles that are triggered by the BT connect and disconnect. I've also created the task to start my app on the BT connect. However, I am stuck on how to exit the app when BT disconnects.
The app in question, Esccort Live, can be exited by pressing BACK and clicking on the "OK" prompt. To accomplish this, I trying to use AutoInput to do the following:
1. Press BACK
2. Look for "OK"
3. Click on "OK"
Seems simple, but I can't figure out how to do these three steps.
Also, when using a profile that is triggered by a BT connect or disconnect, is there a way to clear this state once the profile's tasks have been executed?
Any help would be most appreciated.
Jack
Some thoughts for you. You may need to put a pause (e.g. wait 1 sec) since auto input can respond faster than the screen can update. Or flash an alert between the autoinput commands. If the Escort Live app isn't in the foreground when you are trying to make an action on it, try opening recent apps using AutoInput, then reselect the app.
BTW, I'm not sure what you are asking to reset on the BT connect/disconnect. Maybe what you want is to use a variable that is set/unset on connect/disconnect and then that variable triggers your task.
AA Passenger
https://github.com/martoreto/aapassenger
What's this
With this app you can have two phones: one is the driver's phone, running Android Auto as usual.
Then you can have another one, e.g. handled by passenger. Passenger can then do 3 things:
play any music via car speakers (for now this requires root on passenger's device)
find some destination in Google Maps or another maps app and send it to Android Auto to navigate there
display pictures on the Android Auto screen (e.g. display how the hotel you're driving to looks like)
What's new
1.9-alpha9
AA Passenger: fixed Oreo crash
AA Passenger: fixed casting volume
1.9-alpha8
audio streaming, without root! (experimental)
audio streaming, without passenger app! (experimental)
works also with Hotspot active on the driver's device
AA Passenger now also available from Play Store
driver's app renamed to AA 2nd Seat
now compatible with Android 5.0 Lollipop
many bugs squashed
support for an NFC tag which launches or installs AA Passenger app
note that both driver's and passenger's apps must be updated to work together
Installation

Can you describe some more what exactly you can do with this and how?
Can we install this android auto sdk somehow and use this?
Is it possible to have android navigation eg navigon running to a smartphone to display in android auto screen?
Thanks,

Thanks for bringing additional functionality to AA!
I hope your SDK will bring more devs support for AA apps

You mean this app or SDK? I assume app.

find some destination in Google Maps or another maps app and send it to Android Auto to navigate there
display pictures on the Android Auto screen (e.g. display how the hotel they're driving to looks like so the driver would easily find it)
play any music via car speakers (for now this requires root on passenger's device)

The SDK itself is for developers. It allows writing new Android Auto apps.
It rather won't help much in modifying existing apps to run on AA, as the logic behind AA apps is quite different than for normal apps.
The SDK is used like any other Android library.
I published an example demo project (linked in README) which shows how.

It is somewhat possible, for example by creating a new Andoid Auto app which mirrors the screen of the phone on the car screen and then somehow circumvents the fact that Android Auto displays its own graphics on the phone screen.
It's also possible to modify an open-source navigation app (I'm experimenting with OsmAnd recently) and implement the Android Auto functionality.
Many thanks for description. Very good. I would pay for an app mirroring passenger screen to android auto screen.. (showing anything passengers screen shows, video, navigation, etc).
I think many others would like this, if anyone could implement it..

Any ideas for what other things than navigation, watching videos while stopped and dangerously distracting the driver while driving would this be useful?
Hi Martoreto
Thank you for your work and for the SDK. I tried to you your passenger app now. But I have to say I failed. I don't have rooted my phones yet, but you wrote to send (push) pictures should be possible right? Currently for me it is just possible to send a point in maps. Other than that if I try to send a picture with printscreen it shows "sent to Android Auto" but in Android Auto happens nothing than 1 second of black mirror. I think to push pictures no root is needed right?
Thanks for replay

Hi @Sissi1991, thanks for trying the app.
I see good news that you established the wireless connection successfully, which was one of the major concerns I had with the app.
You're right, sending photos should work without root. I saw another report in the SDK thread, when the example app could behave similarly.
Just to make sure it's the same: when you take the screenshot, the screen on Android Auto becomes black for about a second, and then appears the AA home sceen?
Also, does the same happen when trying to send some other picture than a screenshot (like Gallery -> <some photo> -> Share -> Send to Android Auto)?
A note about rooting: it's required only on passenger's device (to make audio work).
@Sissi1991, feel free to try the new release:
https://github.com/martoreto/aapassenger/releases/tag/0.9-alpha2
Couldnt make it work also, same problem as Sissi (tested the previous 0.9 alpha 1 version only)
If sending a picture from gallery, it gives an error 'error resizing image'

Ok, this looks like another issue and alpha 2 rather won't make any difference here.
This error shows on the passenger's device, right?
If possible, please PM me links to:
- Android bugreport captured after this error (Settings -> Developer options -> Take bug report)
- The picture which failed to send
Thanks for trying this out.
Thanks for developing such a great idea
Don't know what I am missing, I can't pair my two phones, even though they are connected through wifi direct, the app apparently can't see this connection :s

Yeah, I expected that Wifi Direct may have some connection issues. Nevertheless, please do this:
On driver's device open "AA Remote Settings" -> "Enable discovery".
On passenger's device open "AA Passenger"; if the setup wizard shows up, go to the "Pairing" page.
Wait 5 minutes.
On both devices, capture Android bug reports, upload them somewhere and PM me the links.
Thank you, ill give it a try.
Pairing through Wifi direct isnt indeed ideal and it takes a while to get connected, i get why using 'passenger' smartphone, but as the driver is driving the passenger could use the connected AA phone i think
@martoreto installed and tested new version! Works perfect. Keep on your good work!

Just my 3 cents on this idea: some things can be done with this AA-connected phone, and this doesn't need any special app mostly.
I don't know how it is on other phones, but on my HTC One M8 I can open any app even when AA is connected using tricks like opening notifications drawer, going to Settings, Apps etc.
But even then Maps can't be open on both AA and the screen. It can't render at the same time to 2 destinations.
Then, fiddling with the cable can easily disconnect the nav.
That's why I go with the idea of using the passenger's phone, with his/her music library, maps favourites, bookmarks, whatever context etc., to make car travel a more "together" experience.
Let me announce a new major release: 1.9-alpha8
It has two new main features, namely:
Audio streaming without root, as rooting was rather a major blocker for
this feature to be useful.
Hotspot mode. Now the apps don't rely on Wi-fi Direct only (but it's still supported).
They will work also if the passenger's device is connected to the hotspot started
on the driver's device.
Full release notes:
audio streaming, without root! (experimental)
audio streaming, without passenger app! (experimental)
works also with Hotspot active on the driver's device
AA Passenger now also available from Play Store
driver's app renamed to AA 2nd Seat
now compatible with Android 5.0 Lollipop
many bugs squashed
support for an NFC tag which launches or installs AA Passenger app
Note that both driver's and passenger's apps must be updated to work together.
Enjoy!

Hi
I would love a profile in tasker if possible
I have a vw car with inbuilt Bluetooth
I would like my profile if possible, let me explain
When turning off the ignition on my car tasker would know that the inbuilt Bluetooth is now not working, then tasker will turn off a app on my mobile device.
Hope you can help and understand my question
Alistair
Create a Profile to track the specific BT connection. When it disconnects, set a kill app Action in the End Task (more than likely, you'll need root to kill the app). If it is too stop some app activity, you could use AutoInput to create a macro Action in the End Task.

I have a similar profile. Used autonotification to press the switch off button for Waze

A few weeks ago I started using a VPN provider and Android App and had to figure out that AA and VPN aren't friends.
With an active VPN connection, I get an AA error screen, explaining to me that with VPN I can't connect to AA.
But what is the workaround? I am using surfshark and in this app, I can't whitelist AA or whitelist the right apps to make the connection without deactivating the VPN connection in total.
My idea to build a workaround was to build a automize process flow but feels like it is impossible because at least with the Automize app you can't deconnect the VPN connection or check if there is a AA connection available.
What do you do to make friends between AA and VPN?
Same Problem here. Please add a workaround for this issue. Thank you AA
I am using MacroDroid and wrote 2 macros to kill Surfshark if car Bluetooth is available and to start Surfshark as soon as this bluetooth device is disconnected. But in this time I can't use a VPN connection anymore.
I also want to try to whitelist the BMW wifi to try if this is enough. But didn't have time to try this in the past. Keep you posted.
Hi
What settings did you make? Quit the app when connected to Bluetooth from the car or from AAWireless, Android Auto? thanks
I tried to whitelist the AA wifi network of my car in the Surfshark application today, but without success, as Surfshark notices that this wifi doesn't have an internet connection.
@ForeverYoung7 my macro quits the app if my car's Bluetooth is connected and my VPN status is active. If the Bluetooth is disconnected, another macro starts a new instance of Surfshark. Surfshark is configured to auto-connect.

Hi
Is there some news, how to Bypass android auto and aawireless with surfshark vpn?
?
I use Blokada and had the same issue.
I fully whitelisted Android Auto and then it worked.

It has to do with ur USB CORD.
If you ever get an error message saying something not AAA or AAA it has to do with your charger or your USB port
Did anyone try to bypass android Auto with Ivacy vpn. I'm trying but no Luck ..... :/
I just ran into this today. I created a VPN tunnel that has one random IP address in the encryption domain...Android Auto still fails. My work around is to disable VPN via tasker when my car bluetooth is connected, but this Android Auto failing on ANY VPN (even if it doesn't do anything) is ridiculous.
I am also playing around with exclusions. However, Google is being asinine on this one.
I couldn't find a solution using rethinkdns BUT I did find a solution using blokada. Blokada 4 and 5 and newer come with tasker integration so I set it to turn off when connected and on when disconnected

Can you share some tips here?
I can't seem to find the whitelisting in current Blockada app to do this.
Which version do you have?
On 2.1 it was here: https://block.blokada.org/post/2017/08/17/how-to-whitelist-apps-in-blokada/
I'm using 4.1.4. There I have to swipe up and then I have a button called apps. There I can whitelist apps.

Looks that no matter VPN provider, AA does'nt work. I tried with Ivacy and Proton + bypassing ... but no way!
I would recommend using Private Internet Access, it works exceptionally well and is safe! I have used it in person for one year many options to set up and pass problems
I found a solution that works for me. NextDNS, it's got adblocking, tracker blocking, and can used on routers, PCs, phones and everything. For Android just use the private DNS server option and not the app and you're aet
