I'm new to the OnePlus3 forums (I just purchased the phone, and haven't even had it shipped to me yet) but I'm frankly surprised this had to be implemented at all. Can someone explain to me why that wasn't already available?

It's quite simple. According the information given by the company, they have sold many more devices than expected so now, they need at least a month to produce enough units to satisfy the needs of the market.

Google needed to implement it on their end. My Samsung Galaxy Note 4 had to wait for 60fps to be enabled on YouTube too.

My apologies- I understand why I haven't gotten the phone itself yet. I've been on XDA for a while and understand the phone industry pretty well now. Apologies for sounding like such a noob. I was actually asking why the YouTube app didn't have 60fps by default for the OP3.

Thanks for the answer. I'm really surprised that 60fps isn't just automatically enabled on all phones that have a display that can refresh that quickly. Interesting.

I think they need to whitelist certain devices for it to work. I'm sure they don't want low end devices to attempt 1080p at 60fps.

Used 2% overnight (9h23m) with everthing enabled, very awesome!
But when using the phone a lot (gps navigation etc) I got like 4h SOT and can not even use it a half day...

There's no useless stuff, like I said, when idle the battery life rocks.

Of course that's why this thread is here for ! :victory:

I forgot to take a screenshot, but my first result with the phone was fantastic.
I used the phone with mixed usage (Tapatalk, chrome, whatsapp, sms, calls, etc), 1 hour and half of Pokemon GO, 50mins of GPS (Waze), brightness almost always 50% or more, i put it to charge with 19% and i was with 4h:52mins of SoT, and 38hours of usage in total, amazing result!! With my previous S8 it was not even close to this value.

With 4k mah battery capacity only merely can get 6hr sot? Bad battery design.

You've never played Pokemon Go, else you'd know with an hour and half of that over 38hrs total use this is a very good result. Presuming it's ballpark similar to my Mate 10 the battery life here will be superb, definitely leading the way over all other flagships for normal mixed use.

You can't be serious right?! Pokemon GO uses Location + Data connection, and i've played the game ONE HOUR AND HALF, and navigation GPS (Waze) for 50mins wich again uses location and data at the same time to work, besides all other usage i did with him, i'm not a light user i had to charge my S8 every single day and most of the times i had to charge it at middle of the day.
I believe Mate 10 Pro should be a bit better than P20 Pro, but it's still a huge beast on battery life.

First charge. Happy camper. Really good battery life.

I've been generally impressed. I'd say it just about offers genuine 2 day battery life on moderate use. I plug it in most nights at around 50%.

Doesn't last more than a day...
I don't consider myself a heavy user but the P20 Pro doesn't really make it through the day. With 100% at 8am, wifi on for most part of the day, no bluetooth, rarely some gps, taking a few photos, checking Instagram and Facebook every hour or so, some music streaming not more than an hour, I barely have 30% left at 8pm. I'm kinda disappointed to be honest! I'll have to run some tests to see if my battery is okay...

I'm also not getting more than 5 hours of SOT... I was expecting way more after reading all the reviews where they say the battery performance is so good

Do yo use an magnet case ? As that can interfer with pressure sensitivity!

First of all you are holding a store demo device so they can have all sorts of wear by the time it's been out as demo in store. So pressure problem can have occurred by a customer so. You cannot ask questions of problems from a store demo device since damages can be done by any customer like they can drop the device and much more.
I tried pressure thing on my note 9 and had no pressure problem at all. So I think mostly that since you are holding a store demo device it's probably been damaged by a customer that caused the pressure problem.

By picture you posted is from a demo device. So that does not mean your new phone will have problem at all. Try your own device first and then ask us questions, don't ask questions from demo devices since they are 90% chances of wear and damaged by customers.

Because in the second pic you can tell it's attached to the security device at the bottom.

What's the world coming to, complaing about demo unit defects lol.
Turn the screen to a dim background color and take a picture. It might be the cheese grater screen issue that 4 people on this forum had issues with.

Hey Google not working

In the past couple weeks when I use "Hey Google" to initiate a call or text I get the verbal message "ok let me get some more information so I can help you with that" and then it tells me to "tap the notification button on your device". But whatever "notification" is on the phone or HU isn't obvious and it won't provide any further information as to what "more information" it wants. It APPEARS to be an issue with Google setup but no idea what.
Google is less than helpful so maybe you smart guys here can help me out?? Thanks ya'll!

I think that MAYBE you are experiencing the same problem as I am.
If you manually trigger assistant in your phone by holding the middle icon/button and say a command like call someone it will display a screen asking you for activation. No matter how many times you activate it. It will deactivate again and you will have to do the same process again.

I have a Samsung S9 Plus and I trigger through the mic switch on my steering wheel. Its worked that way before. It seems there's a switch to be flipped but I can't find it.

It does have kind a switch... You should say a command with the phone unpluged and then assistant will answer with "Let me get more information" and then you will be able to toggle google assistant on again. The problem is: Most of us... no matter how many times do this, some time later it will ask again and again and again for this permission again.

Actually worked this afternoon so I guess it's a "**** happens' kind of thing because I haven't changed anything.

If your device is behaving like mine it will soon disable itself again. For me it's completly random. Sometimes it takes a couple of days and other times, it gets disabled 2 or 3 times during just one day.

They should. AA is one of the apps that I most use in a daily basis and more and more people are buying cars which are AA compatible.
This is slowly pushing me to Carplay. It just works.

Dear members,
Could someone recommend a good replacement battery for the Nexus 6? If someone could post a link of a trusted seller that ships to Canada that would be awesome.

I've just had to negotiate with Amazon a return of a new expensive Polarcell battery (£20) for one of my Nexus 5s because it simply didn't work. The battery icon indicated a full charge but when I tried to boot all I got was a one-second flash of "Google" and an immediate reversion to the battery indicator.
I therefore have to withdraw my recommendation for the battery in my previous post. It looks as if Polarcell's quality control needs some work, since Amazon shows a number of happy customers but at least one suffering the same problem as I just had.

Did you replace it? My battery is dying too and i'm searching for good replacements, 2 months ago I bought a gadfull battery for my samsung s5, manufactured in 2019, pretty happy with that but I can't find the same manufacturer for the nexus 6

Do you mean did I replace the dud replacement? No, I'm wary of buying another Polarcell now, despite my Nexus 6 one giving me excellent battery life - rarely dropping below 50% by bedtime. If I pay three times the price for a battery, I expect perfection, not disappointment. I don't say you shouldn't try Polarcell, just be aware that you may be unlucky.

I have installed a new battery in my Nexus 6 today.
I'm curious and excited on the OST results.

Can you link to which battery you bought? I am looking for one as well. As it is harder to find a good one with a phone of this age. Also, did you swap it out yourself and was it a hard process?
