I asked the same thing in another thread, and also pmed JoeGatto, he did reply "factory resetting and flashing the stock Oreo ROM".
I saw one of your posts advising not to flash bootloader or gpt, will flashing these cause errors?

I managed to downgrade!
I basically followed the instructions here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g6/how-to/guide-faster-updated-guide-to-root-t3914228
Except I didn't flash gpt.bin and bootloader.img.
Hey @Ragarianok can you help me please? I want to downgrade and relock the bootloader of my moto g6 also. I would appreciate if you gave me your discord or something. Thanks!
The easiest thing to do would be to unlock the bootloader, flash recovery, and just install an Oreo rom (I recommend AOSP Extended) and Google apps
you could just flash an 8.x oero rom so there isn't anything to "downgrade" in the traditional sense. Also these Moto phones need sGSI and not just GSI , i think so.
tnx

I do not want to install a custom rom/ AOSP, I just want to downgrade and then relock the bootloader in the downgraded version.

Firmware and custom ROMs help

Hello all,
I did some searching here on XDA and on the internet regarding the flashing but I was unable to find any definitive answer to this so maybe someone here can help me out, here goes:
As far as I'm aware, Xiaomi does not provide a source code for their drivers (firmware) which means we need to use precompiled binaries for specific android versions, downloadable for example here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/k2...mware-xiaomi-mi-9t-pro-redmi-k20-pro-t3955317
What I don't exactly understand is how can one go about installing a custom ROM (e.g LineageOS) and drivers in case there is a difference between Android versions when flashing a ROM (e.g going from Android 9 based MIUI 10 to Android 10 based LineageOS 17)
Most of the how-to's I found on installing a custom ROM specify that I should update to MIUI 11 (Android 10) first before installing LineageOS 17 so the firmware is up to date and working but I would like to avoid this due to Xiaomi's anti-rollback "feature" (fastboot getvar anti) which will then prevent me from installing back MIUI 10 (in case I might want to roll back)
Does anyone know how/where is the firmware stored exactly? As I understand, the firmware is installed via TWRP therefore I believe it's stored somewhere on filesystem, do I need to flash the firmware/ROM in specific order when flashing a new ROM via TWRP (ROM first, then firmware)?
For now, I came up with these steps:
1. Unlock bootloader - already done
2. Install TWRP
3. Flash custom ROM (Android 10 / LineageOS 17)
4. Flash Firmware (Extracted from Android 10 / MIUI 11)
5. Wipe data/dalvik/etc. + install gapps/magisk/etc.
6. Reboot
Will this work?
Thanks a bunch!
our phone doesn't have anti-rollback. Source: xiaomi.eu

I'd advise updating the firmware of stock miui, so you are up-to-date normally. The firmware is located in the vendor. the vendor and firmware files are combined. (links in my guide as well.
Updating to an AOSP rom from miui is also in my guide.
Hello there, I have bought an Xiaomi Mi 9t pro in Germany 2 Days ago.
The guy who used it before had unlocked the Bootloader and installed the TWRP. This is working great and I've got no Problem with that.
He Also installed another ROM. In The beginning there was the Original EEA Rom. Now it is runnning with "MIUI 11 | V11.0.5.0QFKCNXM|(stable)".
He said this ROM is the original Global ROM from China and because of that the Phone identifys as Redmi K20 Pro. I've got no Problem with that, because I know These are the same phones. But my Question is: What is the difference between these two ROM's and does it make sense to use the ROM witch is installed already? Because actually i wanted to test the phone with the original ROM. And where can I find the actuall original ROM?
Thanks a bunch!

Your phone now has the Chinese ROM, not global.
The Chinese ROM is not so good for use outside of China.
You would be better using the latest EEA ROM, which you can download from here
http://bigota.d.miui.com/V11.0.3.0....EUXM_20191029.0000.00_10.0_eea_80e1c5de81.tgz
This is a fastboot ROM and needs to be flashed in fastboot mode, not with TWRP.
There are plenty of guides here on flashing a fastboot ROM, just be careful not to re-lock the bootloader.
Thank you for the fast answer. I will try to install the original ROM as fast as i can find a good guide on how to install via fastboot .
Can you please tell me whats the difference in the methods of installing a ROM via fastboot or TWRP? Up to now I always worked with TWRP. But this is my first Xiaomi device.
And why the bootloader should be re-locked when I'm installing the ROM? And is there any problem with re-locking the bootloader?

Xiaomi release 2 ROMs for each version, a recovery ROM and a fastboot ROM.
The recovery ROM is a standard ROM that is flashed via recovery, i.e. TWRP. Fastboot ROMs are more for recovering a soft bricked phone. They include most of the phones partition images, not just the system image. When changing to a different region ROM, you need to flash a fastboot ROM, not the recovery ROM.
Flashing fastboot ROMs is normally done with the Mi Flash Tool. The tool defaults to flash and lock the bootloader. You need to manually change the flash option from the default to flash only option (called 'clean all' in the tool)
It is only possible to re-lock the bootloader when you are flashing a ROM that is for the original region of the phone, if you try and lock the bootloader when flashing a ROM for a different region, it will brick the phone.
Because you've bought the phone second hand, and the seller already lied about the Chinese ROM being global, then there is no guarantee that the phone is a genuine European model, so it is best to play safe and not re-lock the bootloader when flashing the EEA ROM.

So now I flashed it by fastboot and its running. I had to watch some videos an dread some sides to understand what to do to make the Mi Flash tool run. But all in all its not that complicated as i thought.
When I start the phone its still unlocked, but i think there is no TWRP anymore. Thats not that important for me now. But I'm missing some Features witch were in the chinese ROM already. For example the App drawer. I Thougt it would be normal to have one because up to now i only had Phones with it :/. I've read it will come with some extra updates, and i hope it will come soon.
Thank you for your help. I hope i will accustom myself to use the phone without the app drawer.

Question Help a newbie

Hello, how do I root my new phone, Xiaomi Redmi 9T? I'm a beginner, please give thorough instructions on how to install TWRP and install EU rom. I know that I can search but I want to be sure. Everyone in this device forum seems to be rooted which confuses me. Is there a universal way to root all xiaomi phones? And give Gcam too, thank you for anyone who helps!
i think everyone using same method here,
[Guide] [Stable] xiaomi.eu Ad free Builds installation
As Redmi as usual messes up naming convention, we ended up having three names for same device - Redmi Note 9 4G (CN), Redmi 9T (EU) and Redmi 9 Power (IN) I had spent a day on best way to remove ads in our device and ended up reinstalling ROM...
forum.xda-developers.com
how thorough do you expect im not sure...

The best root method I have used is Magisk, if you are using the stock ROM, you can install it by patching boot.img, you need to unlock bootloader first.
You can extract the original boot.img from the fastboot ROM tgz package.
If you are using a custom ROM and TWRP, you can flash the zip package in TWRP.

With Magisk installed, I think you can't update the system directly, I think you have to unroot first.
You can read the information about it here.

Question A12 Rollback to A11?

Is it possible to Rollback from Android 12 to 11?
Then tell me how.
thanks
Yeah, it is.
I've been hopping ROMs lately, so the process of going back to a11 for me is just...clean flashing an a11 rom via adb sideload. Can try doing that.
Yes, you can follow THIS tutorial, however you would need to download latest A11 fastboot rom for your device elsewhere, since on this site latest one is already A12.

Question Req: Instructions on how to flash custom recovery

Hi everyone
I just got a RN10Pro after years of having a trusty RN5 (whyred).
In my former phone, I recall that the process to flash TWRP (or any other custom recovery) for the first time (with just the bootloader unlocked but other than that as new), involved flashing a dummy anti-ARB image before the actual flashing of the recovery. Otherwise you risked hard-bricking the device.
I'm now waiting for the 7 day period to unlock the bootloader with miflash, and looking for instructions on how to proceed once I get it unlocked. I've read these forums and the installation instructions at the TWRP site and there's no mention of any anti-arb image. They just get on with "fastboot flash recovery <recovery.img>".
I can confirm my phone is ARB locked, "fastboot getvar anti" returns "3" as it's value. I don't have any interest on going back to MIUI after installing a custom ROM (probably AOSPExtended which I got accustomed to), so flashing back MIUI versions is not a risk for me.
As you can assume, I really do not want to brick my brand new phone, ¿Can anyone who has done this before on this device, confirm the process for flashing the recovery and the first custom ROM?
Thanks in advance!
GH
I don't remember doing anything near as complicated. Unlocked bootloader and flashed recovery.img using fastboot.
I installed TWRP with this instruction
I installed TWRP with this instruction
Thank you both for your responses.
I also found this thread:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Xiaomi/comments/dtv6pj
indicating the same (different device but basically the same doubtthat I have).
I'm pretty certain now that I should have no problem just installing TWRP via fastboot the usual way, once I'm able to unlock my device.
Thanks again!
Regards
GH
In all the years on Android, I don't remember ever even using a device where flashing recovery was more involved than doing "fastboot flash recovery.img" (and now had to Google what ARB is - I guess it's some kind of Xiaomi nonsense, from what I read)
It was as simple as that even now with the RN10Pro.

I know, I learnt to deal with that ARB sh** on the Redmi Note 4. As you indicated, flashing bootloader and rom on the RN10Pro was as simple as you said.
Off topic: I tried AEX, crDroid, EvolutionX and ArrowOS, both android 11 and 12 versions, but none of these seem to support the integrated NFC reader/writer on our Note 10 Pro. Do you know of any custom ROM that supports it? I did ask on the ROM threads, but I got no relevant responses.
Cheers, GH
