Pie update bricked my phone :@ - Xiaomi Mi A2 / 6X Questions & Answers

2 times I tried to update from 9.6.17.0 to Pie which I got at System -> System updates
Both times It stucked at black screen and that's all I got. With MiFlash I flashed 9.6.10.0 and updated to 9.6.17.0 from system-system updates
Is there any way that I can disable system updates at this phone? I ll stay at this Oreo
(fckn xiaomi's updates, huawei much better in my opinion) - dont go for MI A2, stay away from xiaomi at all (had some problems with older xiaomi phones too)

Keep holding the power button, it'll boot

Phone do not boot after Oreo update

As i installed update and clicked reboot to apply it, now my system do not boot. Phone always stuck on white NOKIA logo boot screen forever. I tried few times to restart it via VOL-UP + POWER, but it always have same result - never boots. Please give me advice how to deal with it
It happened to me too, in December already. Mobile is in service now.
They flashed original fw, tested and returned it with results no fault. Right after switch on and new Oreo update it starts to freeze and produce various mistakes again, so I have returned phone to service. Will complain with seller about exchange.

That really sucks. But what do you mean by various mistakes? Like your system boots, but some functionality is not working? As i said in my case it totally cannot boot and recovery mode i can't enter factory recovery mode by VOLUME UP + POWER on start.

Ach yes, sorry. First it stucked in logo Nokia and rebooting again... VolumeUp+Power does not work normally on Nokia.
It helped procedure found here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=74406267&postcount=34
Then I was able to make factory reset and mobile booted, but worked with various faults.
Did you unlock your bootloader , flashed TWRP and then changed the slot? Slot A to B or vice versa?
If so, then the solution is
How to solve!
I simply waited until the battery ran out
When battery was completely dead and no Nokia-logo appear any more >>
Then I charged the battery 3% juice without booting
and from there I entered recovery-mode with the help of a USB cable.
Holding the volume+ button while connecting the USB-cable
From TWRP-recovery I changed to the other inactive slot
and whooala, that's it!
Edit: I sucked the juice (mAh electric-capasity) out of the battery quicker with help of OTG-cable and an external USB-powerd fan.
Use almost any external max 5volt USB-powered devices available at home, even charging another phone unless the second phone doesn't reverse-charge, this Nokia can be used as a power-bank.

Okay, I Need Help (Like a Brick, Sort of.. Just read thing below)

So, I had Xiaomi phones before and I know that they can get little bit buggy sometimes, because of that I always keep "allow OEM unlocking" checked, just in case something happens. Okay back to what happened, I was running latest Pie version when I got notification that update to Android 10 was available, so naturally I tried to update and got stuck in a bootloop. This had happened before, so i decided to just roll back to the previous update and try again but no, even tho i have my bootloader unlocked and I can flash in fastboot mode, It doesn't work (I tried with just running .bat file and with MI Flash). It writes 'success' but when it reboots it can't past android one logo (and after few attempts to boot it gives error 'can't boot would you like to retry or power off' or something like that), I have tried to flash many 'update versions' but to no avail, only thing to work is first official ROM (android 8.1)
after flashing that it boots and works normally, it successfully updates once, to Android P and than same thing, It downloads file, applies update and when I reboot phone to finish update it gets stuck in bootloop.
Please help me, thanks in advance.
My advice is to unlock the bootloader and install the Pixel experience ... It is much better than the official Android 10 ... And get rid of Xiaomi's update issues.

(My bootloader is unlocked) something strange happened I tried again installing latest pie update and for some strange reason ( to be honest I tried to boot 30-50 times) it worked and it successfully updated to Android 10 ( again after ~50 or so tries to boot) so yeah.

Nokia 8 stuck on boot logo (can't reboot)

Hello Everyone
After a series of frustrating efforts to install custom ROM in my Nokia 8 (TA 1004) device, I gave up and ultimately decided to go with the official ROM (stock was android 8) and updated it to android 9 via OTA update and went ahead to install TWRP and Magisk for root.
It was all fine, but then I launched the Magisk app and it said that it needs to download some files, which it did, then it went ahead for a reboot.
And now my phone is stuck on NOKIA logo.
I can't seem to power it off or restart it using any key combinations. Vol UP + Power, Vol Down+ Power, All three keys, I tried everything, even for 50-60 seconds. But it won't change. It's stuck on NOKIA boot logo.
Any help would be really appreciated.
i have the same problem! Please, answer

Bootlooping Stuck in Maintenance Boot Mode can't access TWRP recovery or Download Mode at times

No matter what 9 out of 10 times I can no longer access TWRP recovery and Odin Download mode.
I'm currently on GA Lineage 7.1.2, rooted G900V. I have magisk 20.3 installed.
I've been having to change roms android 7.1-10 constantantly over the past couple years due to instability. Today the rom I was on I could not close the screen manually with power button otherwise the advanced power options would show. It's a bug!
Now all of a sudden after doing a full wipe and installing another rom I went to back it up and got the maintence boot mode rather than TWRP. I have already done factory resets, flashed other roms, re-flashed TWRP and my firmware. All of this several times over!
When I do mange to get TWRP I do wipe everything and restore backups of roms. Sometimes in download mode it wont stay and within a few seconds it bootloops into maintence mode.
I have no idea why this is happening again but now it seems it might be permeanent? Ive seen this maintence boot mode thing before but switching to another rom and or getting rid of bad modules stopped it. But not anymore.
Any ideas what is causing this and what can I do? Is my S5 done for? I guess at this moment I should stay on the buggy rom I was trying to get rid of until I can do regular backups again.

Well a bad power button could explain all 3 problems.
Or are you saying that even when using the advanced Power menu it will not reboot in Recovery or Download mode?

That never happened on my S5 G900M. I'm curious: could take a photo of it using an other device and post it here please?
Using this XDA site search: site:forum.xda-developers.com/ sm-g900v maintenance mode you can find other G900V users with a similar problem.
One user posted this:
I ONLY
GET "Maintenance Mode Recovery Menu" Which has 3 options
1 Normal Boot
2 Factory Reset
3 Safe mode Boot
But Sadly and STRANGELY I CANNOT GET THEM TO WORK EITHER!!!

A troubleshooting step could be to flash the most recent stock Samsung for your G900V which will re-lock the bootloader, test thoroughly to make sure it works properly then unlock the bootloader following one the numerous threads on XDA about it.
FWIW my Galaxy S5 G900M LineageOS 17.1 build 2020-11-29 + Open GApps Pico build 2020-11-05 + Magisk 21.0 + Magisk Manager 8.0.3 + TWRP 3.4.0 recovery is running smoothly without any major bugs.

Sorry for late reply I been busy. So the problems are happening again off and on. I'm going to have to switch roms again because mine keeps soft rebooting itself and dropping SIM card at times.
Next time I get maintenance boot screen i'll try to take a picture of it. The thing is from the restart menu I have the option to boot into recovery. When I do it only sometimes goes into TWRP otherwise goes into the maintenance boot mode and I have seconds to make a choice Boot normal, safe mode and factory reset. None of which options work. Within seconds my phone boots itself. I have the same issue in download mode if i'm able to get into it within seconds reboots itself. So it's very hard to do anything with ODIN. I've re-flashed twrp and my firmware a few times but it takes hours sometimes to be able to due to the self rebooting phone. There is also the problem of when I power off the phone in menu options it shuts off then powers itself back on again. I may have a bad power button its been a couple years that I can remember changing it. But it broke to where I couldnt power off my phone. When trying to lock the phone the reset menu pops up sometimes other times it locks phone as it should. It would be a ton of work for me to switch to a stock rom and do all that crap over again. I mean I wasnt having this problem this constant until recently.
I'm staying on 7.1.2 because bluetooth and music are working. I was on 8.1+ bluetooth would always drop and music would stop working in background due to how background foreground processes changed after 7.1.2. Also the camera file location is messed up and not in DCIM it's located in a lineage file. Whenever I take pictures they are auto uploaded into my dropbox. It doesnt work on newer android versions after 8.1. I have the G900V Verizon maybe thats why i'm having all these problems. I know for sure the No sim is one of them on this device.
I dont plan to buy a new phone until next year and it will be a 5G one. It's too early to invest in one at this time since 5G is just slowly rolling out.
@curiousrom here are two photos of the S5 booting into recovery / maintence boot mode.

Thanks for the photos.
So it seems it's a Bootloader Maintenance Mode, not recovery.
The first splash screen is the bootloader's which is named Aboot in the S5. See the attachments.
You installed a custom bootloader to unlock your S5 G900V & that's probably why it's acting up.
Ask in S5 G900V unlocking threads & includes those photos.

Odd because I really dont have this problem often and yes that was the only way to unlock the bootloader on 6.0.1. Anyhow I ordered a new power button should arrive soon. That might help with it being sensitive it does look a bit pushed in. I noticed it seems to not boot into TWRP if I choose to go to advanced restart menu and choose to boot into recovery. When I manually do it after powering off i'm not having the problem. So maybe it's a bug with all the ROMs out there when choosing recovery from advanced restart menu options.

I think I have bricked my Mi 8 trying to change to a global ROM, please help!

Hi, I'm having a complete disaster today having tried to go from the latest stable Chinese ROM to a global ROM.
I understand that I need to unlock the bootloader, so after a fair while managed to do this. It didn't work on my PC but it did on my wife's. I really should have given up then. Sigh.
I think this unlocking did work as the developer settings say it's unlocked and when the phone boots up (when it did boot up) there was a little unlocked graphic at the top of the screen.
At this stage I thought all would be good. I have downloaded the MiFlash tool (2021.2.26.0) and the ROM below.
Mi 8dipperstableV12.0.2.0.QEAMIXM10.0GlobalDownload2020-11-23
I'm certain that I have the Mi 8 (and not the lite or other version) so this seems like it should flash?
After having to download a fix (something to do with drivers) I can see my phone in the Flash tool and can select the folder with the rom (before the fix any refresh would just cause my phone to say "any key to shutdown"). So I can click "flash" and keep everything crossed.
But, it doesn't work. Initially it seemed to progress but after about 10 minutes, with the status bat at ~95%, it gives a timeout error. I think - though I'm losing track - but I could still boot my phone up at this stage.
I did this a few times and the same thing happened. Then, I got a worse sounding error "Missmatching image and device". I kept trying and got this or some other instant error that I didn't note down.
After this my phone wouldn't boot up, it just goes into recovery mode. I do note that it I press vol up and power I get the option to connect to some windows app (this doesn't work) but curiously if I try flash from this state I get the same issue as above (it seems to work slowly but then times out).
So I'm at a loss and have a broken phone! Any suggestions would be very helpful to say the least!
I'll add that at the moment the phone is stuck with the fastboot logo on, so I can't even turn the damn thing off. I can try but it just boots up again into this screen :-(
Geeze, on about the 20th try the flash tool just hung so I yanked the phone out and now it seems to have worked. I'm keeping everything crossed right now!
Display fastboot logo, maybe it is not bricked.
"It didn't work on my PC but it did on my wife's. ". I had the same problem when I unlock the bootloader. mi 8 not work well with usb3.0, suggest you use your wife's computer with usb2.0. OR patch you PC registry of windows 10 with attached bat file.
Are you a Chinese ?
