Hello everyone, here's something else I noticed after upgrading to Android Pie. For some reason the slow motion function doesn't work properly anymore.
What I mean is that before (implying android O) when I finished recording a slow motion video, the video would transition smoothly via the sliders (to indicate at which point you want the video to slow down).
But as of now, after updating to Pie via the OTA Update, the video freezes when it gets to the slowing down part of the slow motion video.
I managed to get the video to play by moving rhe sliders to encompass the whole video (slow motion from start to finish). But it kind of defeats the purpose of having those sliders in the first place if I have to slow the whole video down to fix the problem. Anyone experiencing this issue? Everyone's help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried the first method. Didn't work for me.
As for the second method (to reset the device) I'll think about it then post my findings.
I was just hoping that there might be some other way to do it without resetting my devide. But if it kist be done then so be it.
I'm still open to any other suggestions though. Thank you

I went as far as factory resetting my device. Still didn't solve the issue. Getting kind of frustrated now. I hope they could fix this in a future update or something :crying:

I think the problem here is the Photos app itself, the slow motion slider is not stable or maybe not compatible with the video codec(not certain) that the Mi A2 is using.
The slow motion video from the stock camera is a full slow motion video when you play it in a 3rd party video player. While, the Google Photos tries to modify the video where you can select the part to be slow and fast.
Perhaps you can rollback to the previous version of the Google photos, maybe this could help. Look for an apk from apkmirror.

Try playing the slow mo video using some other player like VLC or MX or something else! It works like a charm! I use VLC player and didn't face broken slo mo video playback. Google photos seem to have some issue with slow mo video playback. I believe this should work with Mi A1 as well.

Hi
My camera record slow motion video but when recording was done and when i want set slow motion speed the setting button not working.
Is there any guide for this?
Thank you everyone
#edit# i have this problem with all video files! Setting button has no functionality!! #
I think it's camera bug or 'slow motion' doesn't support some video formats. In some firmwares there were that problems. You can flash another firmware or install other camera app that supports slow motion.

Thank you for your answer
I want to know is every one phones same as me or not?
please some huawei p10 owners tell about their slow motion mode.
can you change slow motion speed or not ?
I had a similar problem but managed to find the solution. When I got my phone, I uninstalled/blocked all of the bloatware. Amongst these programs was also the Videos application, which I blocked. It appeared that this app was needed to edit the videos. Now that I have it unblocked everything is working fine again.
The slow motion and sometimes video recordings are unpredictable as for performance. I think the SLO-MO is bugus. Never worked for me, only intermittent..
Which video app do you mean ? by title and if I uninstall will the camera app still work. I will not be editing in my phone. I have fabulous slomo at hoghest frame rate but the other 2 speeds do not work. If I remove will ithey now work ? Also slo mo ar highest speed have no control over film captured action duration . Thought it would continue recording slomo till I pressed stop ?
Hope for answers for my P20 Pro
thanks
I just wanted to ask if someone also has some problems with the recording/playback of videos. The video looks like it lags every seconds. It doesn't matter which settings I apply neither Full-HD nor 4K is working properly.
I've already tried different applications like the standard camera application and the open camera app, but there is still no improvement.
Send us a sample. I don't have any problems. What system version are u using?

Yes, It did for me twice and I missed something very imp that day..
Is anyone facing problems with Stories videos? Whenever I try to upload a video, from my gallery, the video lags SO MUCH...
And if I try to record a video directly in Instagram app, the video lags EVEN MORE.
The experience with this social network, in a whole, is a little bit crappy, with the Mi A2...
It's so sad, because I really love this phone, specially the camera.
Well, is anyone facing the same problem? Is there any fix?
Thanks in advance! <3
Same problem, only with GBintsa stories work fine
Same problem, but only video story.
I also have this issue and always had it with every Android smartphone I ever owned. I investigated a bit on the internet and read somewhere that Instagram handles the Android camera API in a ****ty way. I'm no expert but seemingly the difference is that iPhone always uses the same API or just some different version because there are not many models on Android however there are probably more than 1000 different camera APIs because there is a much bigger variety of models. In short: Instagram on Android is not very well optimized.
I had the same issue with my MI A2 i fixed it buy installing a previous version of the instagram app I had the go like 10 vesrion before to get it right though and i lost the gif feature in messages but let's hope the update wont have the same problem.
Instagram beta works fine for me
Edit: NO IT'S NOT!!
Also recording from stock camera app in 1080p 60fps and then posting as story is fine
I also had this kind of issue, which is also present in older device like Redmi Note 4 in MIUI. I don't know what make its bugged tho

You have to think that you don't have an iphone, and you don't record smooth video on instagram app. Record on camera app and share it on your story.

I think this is a decoder related thing.. because screenshots look bad, but photos taken from camera looks good. Any video other than 1080p 60 fps from stock camera looks stuttering; but it also has very bad sound quality... That's really fuktup xiaomi..

The problem with the sound program will solve Cinema FV-5.
Go to the sound settings and put a tick on the Disable Audio Automatic gain Control (AGC). The sound starts being processed by the application's algorithms.

Instagram stories are smooth on my mi a2 running android P with the latest instagram update. Last time i was on android 8.1, the latest version of instagram has the choppy stories problem. Try updating to android P.
It's been months and still my stories are 15 fps.... what a joke...
This crap needs to get fixed. No matter which account I the video is choppy/laggy. If i shoot video inside the app the review looks good. once it uploads it's laggy. If I save the video to my phone... it's choppy. If i have a video already on my phone and I upload it to stories to the normal feed... it's choppy AF.
I'm on 8.1 oreo with RAW enabled. This suuuucks
Can someone confirm that the videos are better or smoother in Android P?

YESS this also happened to me, im using redmi note 5 rn and the current rom is in miui 10 global stable
The solution is to install the older version of instagram. I'm from Brazil and I found this solution, if you want to solve it and see everything fast again use this version here: 51.0.0.20.85
Search google to download ...
Do not upgrade to the newer version, if it does not come back all over again.
Guys! I found the solution!! Try to use the
H.265/HEVC codec.

How can i do this?
Hi,
When I record a video (with stock camera app) in 4k that is longer than a minute in the photos app it laggs (1-4 fps), the sound is playing normally. When I try to play a 30 sec 4k video it runs smoothly. In other resolution everything is fine.
But, when I play that video in an other app (like Filemanager's built in video player) it is fine.
I deleted app data, and cache, still doesn't work.
I also tried to record a 4k 1 minute long video, wich is about 300MB, then I recorded a 10 minute video in FullHd wich is 1.6 GB, the FullHd video runs smoothly, so I don't think it is a problem with size. What could be the problem?
Same here brother. After i stabilized the video the vudeo become choppy. Or if I see recorded 4k video the video stuck at some piont and show like slidesjow of photos.
For the last 2 days, that is what i am frustratingly suffering. It was not sth existing a few days ago. I was wondering what caused this and saw your post. Appreciate all kinds of recommendations.
If anyone have a solution please let me know, I still have this problem. After June update all of my 4k videos are broken and I can't play them in Google photos.
Are you sure it happens only with videos longer than 1 min? I have the same problem but it's random.
Sometimes videos longer than 1 or 2 minutes play OK, sometimes very short videos lag.
Haven't tried less than 4k, though.
Super annoying - using VLC now.

Hi, so I tried a few things, and it works.
Disable the app. If it asks to replace the app with the factory version click "ok". After that, enable the app, and DON'T update it, even if it asks to.
This worked for me, no problem at all, the 4k works, the slowmotion videos can be played without stopping too.
@Thuyamo so you lost the improved interface, dark mode and all that?
I am just afraid it will cause sync problems or something.

I'm currently on version 4.11, the newest in play store is 4.19 so it's not that old. For me this downgrade didn't cause any sync problem. Since the screen is so dim I don't want to make it harder to see stuff on my phone outside the house?, so I don't use dark mode at all. But yes, I lost the dark mode feature. The improved interface is there, I didn't lose it.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
I'm on 4.18.0.250747830 version, 1st play of recorded video was playing normally, smooth, but 2nd and so on lagging like hell

I don't care if it is working or not, to play videos I'm using MX Player Pro.
I created ticket [9-1423000026724] with Google One Support. Let's see how that goes.
Guys, this is a secret so SHHH don't tell anyone.
HTML:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.videolan.vlc
(Because, I mean, who in their right mind uses Google-anything. Just joking, but srsly.)
Ok, here is an update on ticket [9-1423000026724] with Google support.
Long story short, they said Google Photos cannot play 4k videos.
So I said that was not true and sent them screenshots of Photos running on an iPhone and on a Motorola Android phone, including the information pop-up that shows the video resolution.
They replied they did all they could and closed the case.
I am so dissapointed with their service. I did not expect a quick solution, but I thought they would acknowledge the bug.
What do we do now? I think opening more tickets with them is all we can do. Hope you guys can help me on that.
Kick off some pictures. Only rules are X3Pro only and straight from the camera.

Evening walk.
Does anyone have the 10-bit HEIC (aka HEIF) files working on Windows 10? I can view the pictures on the phone just fine, but Windows refuses to display them. They do display fine on my Mac but not on Windows 10.
And yes, I have the HEIF Image Extensions loaded. And tried reinstalling them, and resetting them. But not joy :-(
Is it just me? Or do others have this working?
(BTW 8-bit HEIC files work just fine)
Sorry for the bump but please guys help me out here. Can someone enable 10-bit images and see if they can view them on their Windows 10 PC? This takes 2 minutes to test.
I'd be grateful.
It took a bit more than 2 minutes as sharing the pic to Telegram auto-converted it to JPEG! Same if I did that from the File Explorer.
Sent by email, tried to open with Paint.Net -> no-go.
Then Microsoft Photos, which asked to to install the HEIF extension from the Store.
Didn't work
There is a free HEIC Image Viewer on that same store though.
Nice! Let's try that
So I gave up...

Same. Seems the OPPO interpretation of HEIC / HEIF is not the same as Microsoft's. Which is quite a shame!
I also note that since the last update, Google Photos will no longer sync these images. It now says "device only" when you view them on the phone :-( So not only do they not display on Windows, now they don't even sync over.
I do hope OPPO fix this. It was one of the main reasons I bought the phone. Being able to view photos on the phone only in 10-bit is a fat lot of use.
I note that since the last update (11 A 21), the phone will again sync HEIC files in Google Photos and windows can now open them... provided they are 8 bit. Windows can still not open 10-bit HEIC files from the Find X3 Pro, even though Macs can do so.
So this frustrating restriction still remains. One of the key selling points of the phone - 10-bit end to end workflows - is still unavailable MONTHS after launch. I do hope they fix this because otherwise all of the pre-launch marketing material was basically a lie.

Have u tried installing heic/heif plugin from MS Store? On my laptop with windows 10 I can display HEIC 10bit photos. On my desktop I cannot (no heic plugin)
also, I can't upload HIEF photo (10 bit) to Amazon Photos (actually, I can upload them, but they cannot display correctly).
I guess Oppo implementation of HEIF is not completely standard.

Hello,
Looking at posted photos I understood my mobile HW is not defective. The camera SW of Oppo Find X3 pro is quite a disappointment.
In my opinion pictures taken in sunny days are dramatically over saturated and over exposed. Person skin seems made of plastic and vegetation colours quite unnatural.
In cloudy days results improve, but photos are almost always over exposed. It seems SW applies a beauty filter to faces, even if this function is turned off.
With GCam the pics are much better! Unfortunately we lose all aux lenses...
I'm really disappointed. I find unbelievable, no YouTuber ever pointed out this issue during their reviews.
Does someone have suggestions to mitigate the problem with stock cam or can suggest alternative can which can use all available lenses (no root)?
The Blue t-short of my son is almost white, the sunny areas have no details.
lights in the background of the kinder seat are completely over exposed.

To be fair the EV range on those 2 shots is enormous and the camera is faced with either under-exposing the shadows or clipping the highlights. It's chosen the latter, which honest I would expect many point and shoot cameras would do. When I got my first DSLR many years ago I thought it was under-exposing everything (which it was) but it was merely protecting the highlights, which I had not been used to with P&S cameras I used previously.
The Find X3 Pro is probably erring on the side of over-exposure because with a tiny sensor, you need to feed it with as much light as possible in order to keep the noise levels down. It's a design decision and an understandable one IMO.
At the end of the day, all you had to do with these shots was dial in a bit of -ve exposure compensation.

Firstly you dont know how other phones would capture this scene...maybe even worse.
Im mostly happy with the camera but im not a Pro. Sometimes I take shots with HDR on/auto or with AI on/off which makes huge differences.
You can check out my samples on gdrive: gdrive
Not every pic is perfect but it will give you maybe some comparison with your results.
