Hi guys,
does someone know, if it is possible to flash an older bluetooth driver than the one in firmware JPY? Although the speed of JPY-ROMs is great, I'm getting serious bluetooth disconnects from my car audio system. This didn't happen with previous ROMs (apart from JPX, which had the same issues). If it is possible, where would I find this driver?
Hi,
Same problem for me with Mercedes rSAP bluetooth.
+1
serious connection problem too with headset bt.
Ok, good to see, that I'm not alone. There seems to be some serious issue with the bluetooth drivers in JPY. Now, we need to find a solution. I think, if flashing Wifi drivers from older ROMS is possible (which is recommended because of bugs in the Wifi driver of JPY), the same should be possible for bluetooth drivers.
+1 same problem with Android 2.2.1 and never before with 2.2 on my Nissan bluetooth connect. Just tried to go back to JPO and no bug at all
I have BT problems with Darkys 8.0 and MySpace CarKit. I think it is a problem with JPY becouse with JPX i had no problems.
But its very funny. The problems are there and sometimes it works verry good and another day i had problems and it disconnect every times after few seconds.

So, some people seem to have problems since JPY, which didn't exist before. Does nobody have a solution?
Same problem here with JPY and Parrot I9100, random disconnects, no problems at all before. I really hope for a solution...
I also seem to have this problem. Only way to get it to stay connected is to turn off bluetooth and re-enable it on the phone.

I also have a Parrot system BTW, but the I9200.
Just thought I'd link this issue to mine which has a lot of similarities. Oh, and go ahead and check the link to a common BT bug in Android<->Car BT systems.

Sounds like my problem: Connection drops after a few seconds. Strange thing is: when I enter the car at my home adress, the connection stays. However, whenever I enter the car at my work adress, connection drops after a few seconds. Only difference I know: at home HDSPA is available, while at work, it is not. There is apprently something weird about the wireless module in JPY.
[SGS with JPY]
I don't get permanent disconnects, but the audio drops off for a second or two at random intervals. I can't be 100% sure, but I think I noticed it being less of a problem when I disabled Packet Data and also killed any processes that might be making data connections.
Still this problems with my bluetooth, no one has an Eclair bluetooth driver plz ???
I tried JS3 yesterday, but it didn't help. Bluetooth is still behaving strange.

Thanks for checking that. Is there any way to enable debug logging for Bluetooth within the OS itself? The Bluetooth options in Settings are pretty minimal.
Sorry, I just found out about ADB. I'll run the logger while connected to the car hands-free later on.

Whenever Wifi is enabled while I'm connected to my car audio via Bluetooth, I get these frequent periods of silence (about 2-3 seconds each) but no actual disconnects. Each problem correlates to one of these entries in the logs.
E/wpa_supplicant( 9645): No suitable AP found.
I/wpa_supplicant( 9645): CTRL-EVENT-NO-CONNECTION
E/wpa_supplicant( 9645): timeout (32)
E/wpa_supplicant( 9645): wpa_s->scan_interval (32)
W/wpa_supplicant( 9645): scan interval : value of timeout (32)
It happens more frequently when driving through built-up areas where there are a lot of wireless APs. Once I disable Wi-fi, the problem goes away. The problem doesn't occur at all when I use regular Bluetooth headphones inside my house, so I'm guessing it's something to do with the BT profile used for hands-free.
I'm not sure whether or not 3G packet data causes the same issue, but I suspect it might. I'll try more tests it in the car tomorrow and will get more detailed/complete logs.
Interesting. Keep us updated about your findings.

Stuttering and skipping streaming are very known issues on many jelly bean devices.
The most times when I listen to music in my car, i do this via bluetooth. So it is really annoying me and some day, I will have an accident, while I am fumbling with my HTC One.
I replaced the audio.a2dp.default.so with one of the Nexus 4 (4.2.2) and it just worked well, but only the first time using bluetooth streaming after rebooting the device.
I changed some settings in audio.conf and it still stutters.
But then, i deactived wifi while the device was streaming and all stuttering and skipping was gone.
So... can someone just confirm, whether the a2dp streaming works correctly, when wifi is deactived?
I want to know, whether this is the only point to get this work and I don't want to change my working mess
is nobody interested in this?
I posted this bluetooth issue a while back on this forum, and the issue is corrected by switching off WIFI while using BT. Apparently the new update which is due soon fixes the issue but only one user has confirmed that so far.
Since I use bluetooth streaming on the car mainly, I use Tasker so that when Bluetooth connects, it automatically switches WIFI off (don't need WIFI while driving and saves battery), and when it disconnects it switches it back on. This way the phone just works seamlessly.
Just turning the wifi off and back on again when I connect bluetooth seems to solve this issue for me.
i can confirm - turning wifi on/off fixes it as well for me (until next time I go bluetooth)
I discovered this a couple of weeks ago too. I was about to send it back too. Cant live without podcasts and audible in the car!
I have the problem that i cant even here any sound on my HTC CAR A100 Car Stereo Clip, even if wlan is deactivated With my old sensation everything is okey..

I wonder if this also improves the bitpool value. I'm noticing on my HTC One that bluetooth streaming quality is not very good. From what I've read it has to do with a bitpool value that it set too low, increasing this value is supposed to increase the streaming quality. Highs sound distorted on my phone over BT I can't believe Google/HTC have not addressed this issue.
I have not been able to solve the bluetooth audio streaming issue by turning off WiFi for my car. It works perfectly fine with my Jambox even with WiFi turned on, but in the car, it does not work either way and I'm using software version 1.29.401.13

Did you manage to fix the problem with the A100 as mine is exactly the same, works fine on my Sensation but no the HTC One.
have the same problem:
If wifi is ON and bluetooth is ON, eg at streaming youtube over the bluetooth headset, it stutters and has distortions.
If wifi is OFF and stream a video from the sdcard over bluetooth all is fine.
what i find out:
I use the JellyBean from Quarkx for defy.
The build from 7.3.2013 worked
All later builds, with the new wifi driver had this problem.
But its a known bug that JellyBean has a2dp issues, i guess.
This trick, to change audio.a2dp doesnt helped me
I didn't noticed any problem with my phone even when the wifi ON, I'm using the latest radio "4A.16.3250.24_10.38.1150.03L" found in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2245615
I don't know if it can help..
My car has built in bluetooth connectivity with 2 modes, telephone and media.
Both modes cannot be connected at the same time.
The telephone mode works fine, but the media player mode always fails to connect.
I've had no problems in the past with my SGS1.
I've tried resetting the profiles. I'm on the .350 stock rom but I've added root.
Not sure what I can do now to fix this.
I guess I could upgrade but I'm not sure if it would actually fix the problem.
Does anyone have any ideas?
BTW the car is a Toyota Prius.

Try repairing it with Sony's PC Companion or Sony's Update Service first.
Remember to backup your stuff before proceeding.
Do full wipes.
Update. The Bluetooth pairing with my car is still very buggy.
A quick google search reveals others are having issues too.
I hope Sony address this issue soon.
I'm not having problems with my Bluetooth unit in the car. It connects to both Phone and Media Server. (I have a Kenwood DNX unit)
So I'm still having problems.
The update to 4.2.2 did not help.
So I tried switching to CyanogenMod but the problem persists.
My other phone also running CM has no problems connecting to the telephone and media mode (Samsung Galaxy i9000) so it has to be something going wrong in this phone.
I'm out of ideas. Toyota say it's not a car fault as other phones connect fine.
New Toyotas have a system that's called Touch'n'Go and I managed to test this phone on that and both modes worked fine.
I guess there is an incompatibility between this phone and a perhaps slightly older Bluetooth module in the car. The car is from 2010.
Would be grateful for any ideas.

Wondering if anyone else are having issues with the bluetooth on the note 5. One issue I'm having is the connection to my galaxy gear disconnects and reconnects randomly and after a few disconnects seems like the phone just ignores the gear and manual connection only works 50% of the time other times I have to reset the phone to regain connection. Other problem Im having, which I cant figure out, is my car bluetooth stereo connects with no issue to my phone but when using calling it uses the car speakers for output audio but the phones mic for input audio. Tried my S5 and the stereo works perfectly. Any suggestions? I've tried wiping caches, unpairing repairing devices. Factory reset (which worked for about a few hours but started the same issues again). I was thinking it may be software related but no software or updates were installed between the factory reset and having issues again.
Yes I'm having the same problem with my gear s2 just got off the phone with tmobile there sending me a new note 5 hopefully it will fix it I'll update after the switch

hi,
i have Note5 stock Rom, no root. I also have a Gear watch (still on Android.. not Tizen, rooted, Null 23 Rom) Been using the Gear watch since launch with my then Note 3, Note 4 and now with Note5.
Overall no problems at all. Only replaced the watch battery a month back thats all.
My Bluetooth connection to all my devices has been overall, very good.
I am currently using my Gear with Note5. The Bluetooth connection is very, very good. i cannot recall it ever disconnecting from Note5. (if in acceptable distance.. +-
10 metres or so.) Overall Gear is working 100%.
Point i am making is according to my experience, Bluetooth connection with Note5 works fine... no disconnecting issues.
I know this doesn't solve your issues,
but good to know.
Good luck
I'm wondering if I may have a hardware issue. If connected to a BT device (eg gear) and I move more than a couple ft from the device connection is lost. I'm very confused with my car stereo though, what would cause BT to split and use my phones mic and the stereos speaker not the stereo mic? Anyone ever experience a similar issue?

hi,
futher i can add,
i use Note5 Bluetooth
with following devices no issues. No disconnecting issues or any other issues.
Polor M400 Bluetooth Hart rate watch( re smart notifications) ,
Jam Bluetooth headset (streaming music) ,
Phillips Bluetooth dock.( streaming music.)
My Lenovo laptop,( Sending of pics, apps etc)
and use it to connect to my other Phone devices etc
Never had any issues with disconnecting.
Given that the devices are normally
about 2 meters apart when in use sometimes 10...12 meters.
I would suggest you get you device checked, as yes it does not seem right
that it disconnects so easy (when so near)
good luck
This might be an odd question but how would someone go about testing the phones BT, it connects just not stable. Only reason Im asking is I dont want to send it to samsung and have to wait 2-4 weeks and them to come back and say its working.

hi ,
yes ,i understand, you don't want to wait for period of time ,w/o your phone. !!!
I would have maybe done some "little tests" , to get a better opinion of the Bluetooth issue ??
eg. Test your devices in environment/area where there is no interference , ( no concrete walls ,buildings ...an open area .No electric cables/towers )
An open area ,field or another locations than your home or workplace etc .
See what is you min. and max. distance on disconnection ,if it only occurs more at your home than another area .? Get some facts and maybe make a small video to illustrate your issue ?
and show it to "someone" in the know ???
eg ..If you bought phone through service provider show video to them ./Samsung ( i have a habit that when i have a issue ..........................
eg. broken roof tiles/wall socket /a damage car part ......etc etc ....
i would take photo's/video ,(with my phone and keep copy on my phone ) and when talking to "somebody" in the know/or send your device to Samsung ,show them photo's /video of issues. It helps them to understand your issues better ,
and maybe give you better advice on issue ?
Also ,try to compare you results with somebody with similar device ???
Google is your friend ???
Google around ..???
you might just learn something in process ,that can help ?
Above is basics of what i would have done .
good luck
Bluetooth firmware v 4.2 and older versions .

hi
further to my post above ,
i just want to add another issue you should be aware .
Bluetooth v 4.2 (Note5 firmware ) and compatibility issues with other Bluetooth versions 3.0 ,v 4.0 v 4.1 etc ,To give you a real life example .......
On my Gear watch i use to have Bluetooth v 3.0 ( ? )
i was using my Note 3 ( at the time ).Then my Note 3 was upgraded to Bluetooth v 4.0 ,
when i started having disconnection issues .Also in Bluetooth settings on my Note3 ,device my Gear would not show up in paired devices or stick in list .
When my Gear Bluetooth firmware was upgrade to v 4.0,
i found the disconnection issues was resolved and my Gear then showed up in pair devices
I am not saying this is the issue,
but you should be aware of what Bluetooth firmware your other devices are using ...?????
Is it Bluetooth L E ( Low Energy ) version 4.2 or v 3.0, v 4.0 ,v 4.1,
good luck

Thanks for the replies. After doing some testing and what not the only thing I can figure is a bad BT module/chip in the phone. Sent it in through my service provider today. Will post results when I gets it back. Using my old S3 for now until I gets it back, its like my phone shrunk and got sugnificantly slower lol.

Hi,
I'm having a strange issue with audio over Bluetooth when Mobile Hotspot is on and I was wondering if there is anyone who can help me out.
When my Mobile Hotspot is on and I'm listening music in my car over Bluetooth there is sometimes a random stutter in my audio.
The stutter (no audio for small amount of time) only lasts ~300ms but it totally random. Sometimes there are a few stutters in a few minutes of time, but sometimes it can also a just one stutter within 15 minutes.
I've got a dashcam in my car that I want to have connected to the internet when I'm driving, so that's why I'm using my Mobile Hotspot in my car.
The data flow is as follows (simultaneously):
4G connection => Deezer music app => Bluetooth => audio.
Dashcam => Mobile Hotspot => 4G Connection.
I've got a feeling that the stutter is happening when some network activity is happening over the Mobile Hotspot, but I'm not sure.
When I disable my Mobile Hotspot the stutters are gone.
Your help is appreciated!
Edit:
After more testing it has nothing to do with the Mobile Hotspot, but with Bluetooth in general. Especially when receiving a notification while streaming audio over Bluetooth gives me stutter.
I have the 8GB Exynos (512GB) edition
I'm getting the random Bluetooth hiccup without hotspot enabled.
Also me even when I connect one Bluetooth device
Hm, yesterday was the first time since this phone releases that my Bluetooth connection also sometimes stutters, even without the Mobile Hotspot enabled. It's a lot less than having Mobile Hotspot enabled but it still happened.
Very weird, my Bluetooth connection also stuttered on my previous phone, the Samsung Note 3. Only on the stock rom though, when I used LineageOS the stutters were gone.
I was getting audio stutter over Bluetooth with music and notifications causing problems. My phone is being sent back Monday though.
From the op I was maybe thinking some crossover signal interference, but with a number of you saying the same and now I've just tried my Bluetooth ear buds and they stutter a little too, I guess it's a more general issue. I doubt it's a hardware problem as Bluetooth isn't exactly a new thing, I can't see Samsung using shoddy radios. I assume software as stuttering seems worse with screen off, maybe some power saving feature misbehaving, or background processes not getting priority, I don't know. Hopefully an update fixes it.
Are any of you on custom ROMs and experiencing it?
I'm going to flash one as soon as my memory card arrives, I thought woohoo 128 GB, no need to buy yet another card for another device, then read all the development forums that say in the process you need to format data haha, so a card is needed after all ? But once I'm done I'll test Bluetooth again.

I just went through the list of apps and disabled battery optimizations for Bluetooth and the Deer music app. I also have disabled battery optimizations for Mobile Hotspot, in the Hotspot settings.
Next week I will try to test this and hope there will be a difference. If I can't notice any differences I think I will try to contact Samsung about this.
I know when I used CyanogenMod and LineageOS on my Samsung Note 3 the stutters were gone, but I don't want to flash my new Samsung Note 9 yet.

Hmm, I've tested more today but disabling battery optimizations doens't do anything.
And I've noticed that these stutters are happening when receiving notifications, as mentioned above. So I think this has nothing to do with the Mobile Hotspot.
I hope Samsung fixes this, I'm not the one having this problem.
Im having B/T issues too. Random disconnects and reconnects, stuttering, etc.
Others on the Samsung forums are having the same issue.
There is something wrong with the bluetooth stack. This is undeniable.
I guess I'll hold on to my note 8 for now; reading alot of weird stuff about the 9, and a new flagship shouldn't have all this going on with it right out of the gate..

No issue at all. I stream youtube to my car aux bluetooth. I receive multiple notifications as well as calls.
Weird, some have stutter and some have not.
Will try to have the screen turned on while stream music, see if that makes any difference.
Or maybe changing Bluetooth settings in the Developer Options will do something.
Hmm, have the screen turned on while streaming dind't do anything and changing Bluetooth settings in the Developers Options didn't do anything as well.
