Hello,
First post and allready asking stuff.
I'm starting on making themes and although I have read a lot of stuff I can't get it.
Major questions:
- Do I need to have a custom rom to make themes? Can I install a theme on a standard, factory clean android magic?
- What are those RC33, Rc30, etc... And how do I know what do I have?
At the moment I have a stock HTC magic 32A. The only non standard thing in it, is it's rooted.
The build number only says: CL#33743 (no RC stuff...).
Any help would be appreciate.
take a look at this thread...

Hey smurf... thnks for the answer.
I've allready readed that post (and most of the links in it), and still got the same questions.
They only talk about G1/dream and all those RCXX... The problem my magic says CL#33743. Am I missing something here? Do I need to install a RCXX image?

afaik you have to be rooted to install themes, an exception is when you are using a home replacement.
RC stands for Release Candidate and its just a version numbering thing i guess...
Hello again...
Yeah, I tried instead of just asking.
After a few more reading I realise I was making some confusion. I have a rooted phone so I just adb pull the files I needed to theme (framework-res, htclauncher, etc...) changed the drwable files and adb push them again
It's kinda of what a update.zip does but with more files. Nothing better that trying
Now I just don't know why some people ressign apk's, but I guess a little more reading will fix that too.
Thnaks for your help smurf.
Hello
So I have successfully rooted my phone! And it was so easy.
Thank you every one that have posted guides and made it so easy.
And thank you Cyanogen for your perfect Room!!
But I have some questions:
1. Can anyone list the best rooted apps, and dose it exist an list of all rooted apps?
2. is there any way to remove programs from the program menu(start menu)?
and where is the list of the programs on the program menu listed?
3. Is there any way to implement proxy settings in wifi settings?
In advance
Thanks for all help!!
not development.....As far as apps, search for what you need.....
I've seen posts regarding every single question you wrote. Search a little bit before posting and try to post in the correct section.

I am also new to this rooting thing. Can you provide the link for what instructions did you follow to root your Nexus 1?
I came from an HD2 device, and this is pretty new to me.
i'll appreciate any help.

hey man, thanks for your response.........
i did my research of course and had a little idea now on how to do the rooting, but just wanted to see if there are different instructions on rooting a device.
since the OP said he have just rooted it, might as well ask him to point me to the right direction.
i believed, i have also said that i will appreciate that info.
coming from a totally different device, i hope you understand why am i asking? since a thread has been opened already.

look around the development thread, and use google. from those, i was able to unlock, root, and install enom's ROM w/o too much trouble. using the 'spare parts' app in enom's ROM, you can uninstall things you couldn't before, like amazon.mp3, for which i have no use.
i don't know about proxy wifi settings, never had to mess with it. that seems like a browser condition, not a ROM condition tho. could fix thru router tho, if you're at home. MAC address proxy assignment would be your best bet, i would think.
only rooted apps i use are adfree, andexplorer, and metamorph, i think.
but, i am able to push whatever i want
hi everyone, i am new here, i signed up to ask about this thread i saw: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2717774

I don't know this ROM, but the way of installation is for all CustomRoms the same.
Look in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2400123
The same principle is valid for your ROM.
Works also if you are using TWRP instead of CWM.
If it is the first time that you try to install a custom Rom, you should be carefull, read the whole thread to learn about the procedure!

Hello there!
I just created an account and would like to apologize in advance for any rookie mistakes; using the wrong terms/words and expressions, posting in the wrong place etc... I have seen a lot of very helpful threads but I have yet to find an answer to my issues with my phone.
I have an HTC One (I believe it is the M7) and the service provider is Verizon. The phone was rooted when I bought it and has
"NuSenseSIX-KitKat-m7vzw_RC4.2_032914"
I am having problems with using a bluetooth earpiece together with the phone. (You will get a ticket if driving and talking in the state of WA) and it drives me nuts! I have tried 3 different brands/kind of bluetooth devices as well as made sure that they work on other phones.
I am able to connect/pair the devices - no problem. I can listen to audio, both music/sounds on the phone as well as during calls or using Voxer Walkie-Talkie. There was never an issue on my end as far as hearing sound BUT, not once have I been able to be heard on "the other end". All they hear during a call is a "high-pitched crackling, static, robotic, very annoying" noise which makes the device useless for its purpose.
I have tried restarting, repairing and whatever other "simple" troubleshooting steps I could think of.
I did back the phone up and then did 2 or 3 factory resets, I have "un-rooted and re-rooted" the phone using SuperSU (which was already installed). I have tried to do the wipe/reset/recovery procedure a few different ways, one being a complete removal of Dalvik, cache, and whatever else shows up (sorta scary since I don't have very much experience)
Anyways, I am stuck and wonder if there is anyone out there who can possibly help me..? Is there a "fix" that I can install/apply or is there a better ROM I can use? I'm afraid to try "ROM or Kernel-swapping" on my own before I get some feedback on the procedure...
Sorry for the long post but I really need help....
Thanks - Bob the Swede

Hello Bob, welcome to xda!
Bluetooth call audio was fixed in version 6.01 of NewSenseSIX rom. Your actual version is RC 4.2 which mean "Release Candidate" version 4.2. RC versions are not fully stable, but stable enough for average users to test them. Latest stable version of NewSenseSIX for verizon htc one is 8.0. Updating your rom to latest version should fix your issue.
You might also want to update your firmware to the latest version for more stability. (will be mentioned in the rom thread if required)
You'll have to use twrp recovery version 2.7.0.8 or newer like said in the rom thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2693502
keep in mind that Verizon variant of the M7 have different partition layout than the internation version(M7_UL), so only use stuff (rom/recovery/tools) that is compatible for Verizon M7 (M7VZW)
---------- Post added at 12:52 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:50 AM ----------
if you need help how to flash the rom and recovery just ask here and we will help you.
Thank you!

I am not confident enough to try this on my own and I don;t want to brick my phone.
Can anyone show me the necessary steps needed to do update from RC 4.2 to 8.0..? I have SuperSU v2.14, and TWRP 2.7.0.1.

The link posted by @alray above comes with the download and instructions for flashing TWRP. And the second link takes you directly to the rom.
The only way it could be easier is if he comes to your house and flashes it all for you
Hahaha, I'm sorry, that's embarrassing.

you will first need to upgrade your firmware like said in the rom thread. Click on the link in that thread "Latest Radios and Firmware are REQUIRED and can be found here"
follow instruction to flash the latest firmware in that thread
then flash twrp 2.8.0.1 (also linked in the rom thread just above "Latest Radios and Firmware..." link.
Code:
fastboot flash recovery name_of_file.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
then push the rom to your phone (either using adb push/adb sideload/usb otg) and install it using twrp.
like cisa said above, if you follow the instructions in that thread andtake your time, everything will be good.
THANK YOU!!!
I did it! Thanks to you guys! alray and clsA
I am now on RC8.0 and it is AWESOME! BT works great along with all the extra stuff included.

"The question is human; the answer, all too human. " from Paul Valery - French writer and poet
For the sake of information, it's a good idea to post a question, but it's even better to ask the question in the post and not in the title.
The title should be precise and concise, and it will be perfect for your next post.
Welcome aboard and have a nice day.

Thank you I actually managed to unbrick my redmi 9a phone today, which was the original question I was trying to ask, I am trying to install a custom rom (lineageos) and I tried so many unofficial twrp images until one of them got stuck in the logo screen and I couldn't go to the fastboot screen or the regular os
now that I figured out how to unbrick the device I would like to ask if there is a way to install a custom rom without twrp as I can't seem to get a version that works (the closest I have got is the twrp menu but the touch screen doesn't work)
