Charging issue on MIUI stock roms, selective charging - Xiaomi Redmi 4X Questions & Answers

Hello,
I have an interesting problem when using stock MIUI roms (issue does not happen on CFW like AOSP etc.)
I cannot charge my phone using various chargers, if i connect a charger LED only flashes, it charges for a 0.5 sec and then it stops.
Does not happen on Stock Xiaomi charger and on some other random chargers. But happens for example on Samsung 5v 2A charger or some generic 5v 1.5A.
It is frustrating because i do not know if charger i am about to use will work.
Interesting fact - as mentioned before this does not happen on custom roms AND if i reboot to recovery on my MIUI stock rom I also can charge with any charger.
Does MIUI roms have some kind of software that blocks certain chargers? Is there a mod for it i can use through my custom recovery?
add. - cables does not matter, chargers do. I can use sam usb cable and on one charger it works on another it doesn't.
Thanks in advance.

Try to use custom kernel, maybe that's kernel related issue.

[Q] Can't charge while powered off

Hey,
I just realized this happens if I plug my charger into my phone while it's off. See attachment for what happens. It's rooted and has cwm. Any ideas?
The attachment seems to be broken for me, so here's a mirror: i.imgur.com/yKIN4.jpg
What ROM/Kernel do you use ? Cause this is a known problem for ICS ROMs based on LP5 kernel.
Oh ok. I thought the offline charging worked on a lower level than the os. Anyway, it's the "[ROM][09.04.12] imilka's CyanogenMod 9 v01 [IMM76D/4.0.4]" I use.

[Q] Phone reboots every time it sleeps

Hi, I have a Captivate running Jelly Bean 4.2.1 (Slim-4.2.1.Beta.1-OFFICIAL) on a Semaphore kernel. It works perfectly when it's plugged into a computer through USB. Otherwise, it reboots into recovery, every single time it goes into standby, even when it's on a charger. I've tried raising the CPU speed, uninstalling SetCPU, re flashing the ROM, and nothing helps.
Is this a hardware issue, app issues, or does it have to do with the ROM or kernel? I had CyanogenMod 10.0 with a devil kernel running on it previously, and it did the same thing.

Have made you many any changes/mods?
Also, did you try going back to stock KK4 and reflashing the rom you want to use?
If it's recurrent on 2 different Roms, then it's most likely something you restore or some mods. Hardware issue is possible if it does it on stock.

No, I haven't really made any changes. It wasn't doing it on stock a couple days ago, before I flashed the new ROMs. I installed an App (wakelock powermanager) that keeps the cpu running. That fixes the problem but it drains the battery way too fast.
I'm trying to figure out how would be the best way to go back to stock.
Thanks

The best way to go back to stock is the one I mentioned, Odin one click KK4 (in the dev section).

[q] [q/help] charging problem (gt i9001)

Model: GT-I9001
Android: 4.2.2 (Liquid-JB-v2.4-OFFICAL) downloaded from XDA.
Kernel: [email protected] #5
PROBLEM: when mob is fully charged and stay on charger starts to dissipate battery. This only happens on custom ROMs,on the gingerbread works fine.
Is it a bug or cell phone has some protection for custom ROMs?

Sorry for the double post.
Hello,
it is an old topic, but now I have the same problem with my 9001. How do you fix this problem at that time?
I tested some cable and charger combinations. I use a custom rom.
Kind regards. I hope anyone can help.

battery not charging on any aosp roms

Hi all,
I am having the same re-occuring issue with all pure android jb roms like paranoid android, carbon rom, and CM rom. After flashing the ROM the battery stops charging. After removing the battery and putting it back on the issue is still there and also each time im getting a different battery level reading. The strange thing is that when i flash a touchwiz based rom eg; ultimate JB the battery charges normally without any issues. Has anybody else experienced this issue? I would be very grateful if some could suggest a solution to this problem
Thanks,
Flash these ROMs cleanly with the wipes. I have used CM, Asylum, PAC, Supernexus and other ROMs which have varied bases and have not faced the problem. Clean install of the ROMs should work, and also try erasing the battery stats.
re flashed rom with all neccessary wipes

I re-flashed cm 9.1 stable, I carried out all necessary wipes, it is getting charge, but it only charged 10 percent in 1 and a half hours, also the charge drops really fast. I really love the UI of these sort of ROMS but always having the same issues . Might have to revert back to ultimate jb rom.
If you can help me please do, I so badly want an aosp rom.
Try the AOSP based paranoidandroid or supernexus ROM. How old is you battery?
I thing just flash stock jb via Odin..
Then flash ROM with cwm with all procedure..
This may fix or problem..
Be aure that phone charging on other ROM(ICS)

My battery is about a year old, I flashed supernexus yesterday and the issue with the charging was present. So I flashed back to ultimate JB ROM and the phone is charging fine, it also charges fine on rocket rom, so it seems as though the issue is only present when I flash aosp based ROMs
try other kernels

having the same issue with carbon rom. wipe everything reload rom and it is fine for awhile then the battery stops charging again. swap batteries and the still doesn't work. go back to a touchwiz and all is fine. i am using a galaxy s3. funny part about it is that when i plug in the charger, the battery icon (dotted circle with text) starts rotating like it is charging but go into status and it say that it is not and the battery drains fairly fast. faster than normal use. it would be nice to figure this one out as i really like the carbon rom.
I was also having inaccurate battery readings when I'm using CM 10.2. But since I switched to PAC-Rom battery readings are accurate now, and even lasts longer than stock rom. (based on my experience) So you might want to try PAC Rom if you somehow need a custom rom, or flash a touchwiz based rom to save your battery lifespan.

K3 NOTE advice

Hi guys i need a little help over here.I bought this phone from AliExpress few days a go.Everything is ok,i think, with the phone itself.Checked it's CMIIT ID and it seems legit, not a counterfeit one.Only few problems i find are:
1. that it came with some chinese system apps which can't be removed without flashing new ROM.Version of ROM installed is VIBEUI_V2.5_1515_7.50.1_DEV_K50-T50 with multilanguage support (using Croatian atm. ).Is this Chinese ROM with multilang support?
2. it doesn't charge battery fast,it's pretty slow and battery life isn't best.No matter if i use original AC charger or charging it via USB port on my PC.
3. i don't have option to update phone in my phone/settings
I asked seller can i update to newer version but he responded that it wouldn't be a good idea because i will lose multilang support and warranty will be voided.I guess if i re-flash it back with currently ROM everything would be fine ?
Is there any official stable release with VIBEUI 2.8+multilang support +no Chinese apps+OTA for this phone i can use ?I saw the thread created by hackerpower but i couldn't find what i was looking for.Maybe someone facing the same problem as i am?
And would it make any difference, regarding battery life and overall performance,if i flash latest ROW rom ?
Thx
Nobody?..?

1. You can easily root with any of the methods. If you dont like using commands, try out the Lenovo K3 Note Manager. Its GUI. Once rooted, you can easily remove/disable/freeze the unwanted/chinese/bloatware apps.
2. You could use a different charger with higher power ratings. The charger which comes with the phone has a low power rating. I used my Samsung Tablet charger and it charges fast.
3. You could download the OTA update packages and flash it using SPF tool or via Recovery.
The official updates are Chinese and English only i believe.
There are many custom ROMs which has multi-lang support.
