Hi,
does anyone of you imported Moto X to Europe? Did you have to pay import charges? Where did you order your Moto X? I was thinking of ebay.com, but I would like to pay not more than 600 USD, but with import charge it would be much more. Is there any internet shop that selling Moto X and it's not so expensive there?
Thanks for all your response.
Allso thinking about importing a Moto X. But with E-bay things get really expensive. Just plain white or black unlocked Moto X will set you back about 600 dollars incl shipping. Than you allso have to pay customs.
well I ordered yesterday a moto x from ebay. the phone was $549 + $20 shipping + $120 import fee.
total is $690 for an unlocked phone which is $40 more than the dev edition.
I don't really know if this price is okay-ish or if I've been robbed... fact is, this phone seems to have a good battery life and coming from a nexus 4 that can only be an improvement.
I think this phone is worth of its price
So ebay is the only way to order it and have it shipped to Europe?
Been having my eyes on the moto x since it became available in the US. My main concern though is not the price (although the import tax is way too expensive) but if the european carriers' LTE bands are supported by the x. Spending 600$ on a phone and not being able to get the 4G speeds is a setback...
I'm actually hoping for moto to produce an international version but probably just having way too high expectations...
I guess we are stuck with ebay at the moment and a big questionmark regarding LTE bands...

Neither of them ships to Europe (maybe just amazon but there aren't interesting offers).
I also hopes for Google Play Edition, maybe that version will be available in Europe.
I think i saw a recap on the moto x Wikipedia page (the english one) that lists the 4g frequencies that the moto x can use. I think it covers pretty much every common bands.
(I'm one the phone so putting a link here is a bit of a hassle but it should be pretty easy to find)
I have imported a Rodgers moto x to the UK through family. Yes I did get import charges. It needs unlocking I did it through cellunlocker. All works fine.

I bought it from ebay unlocked/unnamed and it works perfect in Egypt (gsm) unfortunately we don't have LTE yet but H+ is really good.
Price on ebay dropped to something like us$ 490.

I think you are referring to this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moto_X
The variants section state the bands.
I still don't think it'll work specifically in my country cause according to this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks I am on band 3 which is nowhere to be found on the previous link.
Just received it! Rooted, set locale to fr-CA (voice thing doesn't work with fr-FR). I don't have a nano sim yet, I'll try to trim down my existing sim... Either way the real nano sim is coming in the next couple of days.
Active notification is nice. Also, I don't know if this is because I'm mainly using it with USB plugged in but the screen also lights up when you grab the phone. No need to push the power button... It's actually quite nice : just grab the phone and unlock it and you're good to go.

Hi there,
Is there anyone that can confirm LTE on the moto x working in Europe (at dependable good speeds). Living in the Netherlands currently.
Going to the US for Christmas... would like to pick a moto x up (hopefully the wooden backs our then). Only thing that got me concerned is LTE compatibility. My google searches result in contradictive answers.
Motox should support LTE 700 / 850 / 1700 / 1900 (... if someone could confirm this)
If only I would know someone used this phone successfully in the Netherlands (LTE .. 4G at expected speeds and dependable connectively)
thanks in advance!

We could probably help you determine if it would work but you would need to tell us what band(s) your provider uses for LTE in the Netherlands.

I don't think you will see LTE support on the 800 or 1800 mhz frequencies used internationally, however 2600 Mhz is officially supported by the Rogers XT1058 Moto X. If you want to verify you need to look to see if the provider uses "band 7 LTE"
If they do then your best bet is a Rogers Moto X, they can be sim unlocked for 8 dollars or less and Motorola allows bootloader unlocking. There is no branding on the hardware or in the software which is nice. The only disadvantage is they are 16gb only and woven black/white only. I will probably be listing one on ebay or swappa soon myself as I have two of them.

Thanks for the quick response Steve-x
Pardon me for asking. Hope the following is not a dumb questions, but what is a Rogers Moto x? Is this a brand? or is it just a reference to a rooted device? How can I tell a xt1058 model apart from others? (I would really prefer picking a one up when I am in the US next week)
kind of need at least 32gigs... no sd card slot on this thing. However, compromises can not be avoided sometimes.

Not a dumb question at all. Rogers is a mobile phone provider in Canada, they sell the XT1058 version of the Moto X in woven black or white, 16gb only. They are simlocked when new but can be unlocked for 8 dollars or less and they have 2600 mhz band 7 LTE enabled.(this band isn't used in the US) Motorola also allows this version of the Moto X to have the bootloader unlocked which allows for easy rooting and you can flash images from other providers. I am using one myself with a different provider in Canada with the retail version 4.4 installed. There are also no provider logos on the back of the phone which is nice.
I wasn't really able to find any info online about the Verizon moto x being unlocked. IIRC all Verizon 4G LTE phones come Sim unlocked. Is anyone able to verify? I'm thinking of picking up a new in box Verizon moto x for 250. I just wanted to see if they come Sim unlocked so I could use it on T-Mobile.

uhh... something about the LTE bands.. better double check the specs of TMO LTE bands vs VZW LTE bands... you might need too manually enter in the APN info and stuff. there's another thread floating around here regarding that iirc.

I put a T-mobile SIM in my stock 16GB Verizon Moto x. Here is what works and doesn't.
First off, 4G works! in the South Jersey area and it is Blistering fast, I have exceeded 40MB speed test downloads twice, Several in the high 30s and I am avg in mid 20s. Uploads are averaging 20+/- . Compared to Verizon this is like comparing Fios to 1999 era dial up. the best I ever got on Verizon 4G was 14 download but average between 4 and 9 !
The Network notification switches a lot between 4G, "H" mode, whatever that is, just bars and another which I didn't catch quick enough to read ?
Battery has been amazing compared to my galaxy Nexus, I got 7.5 hours of Actual "Screen on Time" which included some GPS use and an hour of music streaming total phone up time was 34+ hours. How long it will perform like this is anyone's guess, today i got about 6.5 of Screen on time. I hope this inst a trend
Now for the bad news - Using it as a Phone. Incoming calls are fine but, making outgoing is a Pain in the A$$.
When I dial a number, (which is a hassle on this KitKat dialer) it often goes to the home screen or back to the dialer. The Call Fails. I am not sure if my dialer is buggy or its a compatibility problem. the KitKat Dialer on the Moto X is an exorcise in futility. Google are you listening? Why reinvent the wheel. All I want in my Dialer is a Number Pad! and a phone book.
When I Open dialer I see Recent calls up top, the whole middle section says all contacts and is otherwise blank, the bottom has the number pad icon, History and settings dots.
Clicking the number pad icon enlarges the bottom section, which then goes all white and removes the three icons. I have to then click the back arrow and re-click the number pad icon to bring it up the actual dialer. .
At this time I can dial. and then the call always fails on the first attempt. Sometimes it takes several attempts to go through.
When I click send on the dialer the 4G disappears and I am left with just the bars. they come back when call is done but sometimes take a few minutes to do so.
If you Kill the dialer app or swipe it away, coming back to it you will have the same issues when trying to get the number pad (two attempts) if you dont, the number pad will open on first attempt. but the calls will still fail on the first try.
I also cant use the internet when in a call, whether WiFi is on or off. Is this a T-mobile problem? I could use the net in Verizon when in a call when on 4G or WiFi
The Data is set to global mode but I have tried both the other settings. On boot up I get a warning saying the SIM is not recognized which I just swipe away.
I am also having this problem. After making a call, the music player and the phones "volume" aspects cease to work., Meaning, I get no sound out of the phone, Music, notifications alarms etc.. This happens almost every time and the only fix is a reboot
I disabled all Verizon Bloat and a lot of Moto Bloat as well This could be causing some of the bugs? But i have tested several different configurations all with the same outcomes.
Hope this helps and puts an end to the - Will it work or not questions. There seem to be a lot of Net Know it all's that flat out say a Verizon Moto x wont work with a T-Mobile SIM or some other undocumented "fact"

From what I've researched the Verizon Moto X do not support T-Mobile LTE Band 4. Confirmed from Wikipedia and Motorola: http://www.motorola.com/us/shop-all...Verizon/moto-x-developer-edition-verizon.html, and GSMArena: http://www.gsmarena.com/motorola_moto_x-5601.php, it only support Band 13.
I have the Verizon Moto X and I can succesfully connect to T-Mobile's LTE without any modifications at all but somethings up with the 4.4 rom or radio... when connected to LTE, i cant send SMS messages and when i dial out, the phone totally disconnects (like turning airplane mode on and off) and then u gotta dialout AGAIN before your phone connects to LTE (while it has no data or on E/H)...
there is a work around in this xda thread: > Motorola Droid Ultra > Droid Ultra General > 4.4 and Non-VZW carriers
you have to sacrifice LTE, just hope this gets fixed in the next update (4.4.2?)

I wouldn't trust Wikipedia 100% because its updated by "users" who may not have all the information.
I have the Verizon Moto X too. I can confirm it DOES support LTE Band 4. And I have gotten LTE on my X when I've inserted my T-Mobile USA SIM. I've also received HSPA+. The Verizon Wireless web site listing for the X also now says "LTE B13/4 700/1700" under specs.
As ozzyGEEK mentions there is a slight problem with the X and a work around is needed. There is discussion in another thread here on XDA with the details. I shared this link already -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2578665 start around post #14 of that thread for details and work around.
Initially the VZW X did only support LTE Band 13. It appears Band 4 support was added with KitKat. So its possible Wikipedia and Moto's sites haven't been updated yet.
Adding Band 4 support via Rom/Radio update isn't new for Verizon. They did it for the Galaxy S4 as well. (it initially shipped with only LTE Band 13 support, and Band 4 was added later). Oh, and yes, with my T-Mobile SIM in my VZW S4, I get LTE too. I haven't checked to see if it has the same bug as the X that ozzyGEEK mentioned.
My girlfriend and I picked up two Moto-Xs during the sale. I'm using Dev edition on Straight Talk AT&T. She's using the T-Mobile version on T-Mobile. Neither of us is getting LTE. I've been trying the Moto vs the Nexus-5 side by side thinking I'd sell one. The Nexus-5 picks up LTE just fine where the Moto is on HSPA+. I called Straight Talk and they weren't helpful. After reading this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2569939 I expect that AT&T isn't recognizing the Dev edition as an LTE capable device. It's too bad because I really like the design of the Moto-X. Sure big screen on the Nexus-5 is an advantage, but the design, active notifications, and touchless controls on the Moto-X are very nice. I called Motorola and they will RMA the device for a refund.
When my girlfriend activated her Moto-X at T-Mobile the rep told her that she would not get high speed data (LTE) because she didn't buy the device from T-Mobile. Could this really be true? We don't have LTE at home, but she works in an area with LTE coverage. SHe said that she hasn't seen an LTE indicator on the phone.
The Moto-X is a very nice device. It's too bad that Motorola doesn't have clean carrier support for the T-Mobile/Dev Editions. The Nexus-5 works fine, and given that it covers many more LTE bands I'm confident it can be used on LTE networks going forward.
It's impossible to buy the device from Tmobile so that associate was full of it. Perhaps she hadn't noticed the lte icon, it's very small.
I don't quite know what to make of those signal numbers, but according to sensorly I reside in a fairly weak LTE area so these pics might be a guide, FWIW.

Thanks for posting that screenshot. I suspect that she just hasn't noticed the indicator. I will check her phone when we are in an area with LTE coverage. I'm sure I'm not picking up LTE because I tested the download speed and checked the signal status. I am disappointed that Dev edition doesn't play nice with AT&T LTE.

I had the same issue and was frustrated. I can tell you, the post mentioned right above is true. I called ATT and Motorola neither could help me. The xda member untyped was the one who told me the issue was the way the phone is being registered to the network. ATT only seen the Moto X as a gsm device, due in part probably to the way Motorola has it listed internally or something, God knows. But he gave me an ATT Moto X imei and was able to register the device as lte. If it wasn't for that I would still be hspa+. Not sure if it's ATT with the corporate bs or Motorola not doing it right but that seems to be the issue.

No issues with LTE on my GFs xt1053 with Straight Talk. I had trouble getting LTE working my Dev Edition with AT&T, but after switching the Network Mode to LTE with Gravity Box it has worked great.
Do you have one of the new ST LTE sim cards? They only started selling them a few months ago. If you do, are you in one of the rare areas where AT&T uses Band 5? The xt1053 does not support LTE on 850mhz.
Problem Solved
After reading that others are getting LTE on AT&T with the TMo and Dev Ed versions I rechecked my settings and somehow Settings->Wireless& Networks>More->Mobile Networks>Network Mode was unset. There is a radio button with two options: Automatic, and 2G. Neither setting was selected. I selected Automatic and voila, LTE now works. Just for kicks I reset the phone to see what happens. When I check the setting Automatic is selected, but if I hit cancel, it deselects and then nothing is selected. This appears to be a software bug.
If you're having issues getting LTE check your NETWORK MODE settings and make sure it's set to Automatic.
Settings->Wireless& Networks>More->Mobile Networks>Network Mode: AUTOMATIC
Sorry all, I was mistaken. I was thinking Nexus 5. Moto X is clearly not available directly from T-mobile.

Hey guys! After doing a little research, I bought Verizon Moto X to use because I read that it's unlocked. I got it new from craigslist for a decent deal. I'm coming from a nexus 5.. I liked it but the feel of the moto x is just amazing. Plus I was always jealous of the active display and always on features.
Anyway, here's the issue.. The phone works brilliantly until 4G comes on. When that happens, data works great, and is blazing fast as usual, but I cannot make calls or send texts. I can receive calls and texts just fine, just can't make them. On everything below 4G there are no issues.
Apparently, since 4.4, you can no longer make new APNs. You can try, but it won't actually save them. For now, I am using an app that accesses the hidden menu to limit the phone to HSPA.
Is there anything I can do or am I better off selling it? Verizon are such ****s.. I don't think I will ever again touch their devices or services again.

It's supposed to be unlocked, it was in the colors that I wanted and it was a great deal. There were T-Mobile ones for sale, but quite a bit more expensive.
I'm pretty sure there was a Verizon Unlocked Moto X and a general unlocked Moto X because Verizon uses different antennas then companies like T-Mobile. Therefore using an unlocked Verizon Moto X WON'T work on T-Mobile or other carriers like Sprint

When you say 4G do you mean LTE or HSPA+?. The Verizon model does not support T-Mobile LTE. HSPA+ should work
The Verizon model doesn't support UMTS/WCDMA on the main band Tmobile uses which is 1700 Mhz/AWS. So it is likely getting confused when trying to switch between bands to make calls.
At the end of the day it was the wrong phone to buy for your needs.

So I just ordered a pure edition so that I can use it on att. I know previously there had been some issues with making lte work with these pure editions but how is it now? Can I walk into the store and tell them I want a new sim for my phone and will it work fine with the lte bands? I am wondering if this has been resolved from att and moto as of late. Anyone who recently got their phone might know the best answer for this.
@Maknora,
You will not have any problems, at all. That is exactly what I did last week. Took only 10 minutes.

Great. Mine does too now =)
Came from gs2, punched sim card to nano size and had no data. A 5 min online chat where I simply stated problem and provided IMEI solved the problem. Now phone says 4G LTE.
Same here. Took mine in 1 month ago and walked out with LTE. Even though on of the reps kept saying it wouldn't work

Based on your question, is there a difference between "LTE" only and "4G LTE"? Mine says the latter it's a 4G symbol with LTE rotated 90 degrees on the side. Sometimes I do see just 4G only (in a place with a repeater). I also was using LTE Discovery and when it says 4G LTE, the program shows the corresponding LTE band, else it shows HSDPA+.
In another thread, I was trying to find a way to enable the extra bands for the pure, without upgrading to Lollipop. Has anyone figured that out yet?

Came from gs2, punched sim card to nano size and had no data. A 5 min online chat where I simply stated problem and provided IMEI solved the problem. Now phone says 4G LTE.

When you log into at&t.com what devices does at&t show that you have? I never bothered to update the IMEI and it says I have a Motorola Z830, which as best I can tell is not actually even a real handset.
When I first inserted my at&t SIM in my brand new X Pure Edition, it said "4G LTE" but after a reboot (or maybe a few I am not entirely sure), now it just reads LTE, which is what unbranded handsets display for LTE service.
4G LTE is at&t's Branding for LTE rather than an actual difference in technology.

My device too is listed as a Motorola Z830. Mine always shows data connection as 4g lte, even after many reboots. I am not familiar with the details you mentioned, but most importantly my device seems to work properly. If yours does too then the exact indicator may not matter.

Mine says I have a victara when I check the website. I've been switching between 4 phones lately (Moto X, Nexus 5, iPhone 6, Lumia 830) and LTE works on all of them, all with the same SIM card. I don't understand why some of you are having problems, I've never had an issue no matter what phone I've used.
The problem exists for users coming from non LTE phones. Mine was a galaxy s2.
