Hi, I'm having some issues with Spotify.
Everytime I turn off my screen, the app gets put to sleep and the music stops.
As soon as I wake up my screen it's back working.
Any idea how to fix it?
I'm on optimised battery, and the all is set to not be put to sleep. Not sure what else I can do?
Thanks!
One idea - in the battery stats click on Android System and check whether you have "allow background activity" on or off. I've tried this and with this being switched off I had a similar experience with Spotify. Also - the galaxy buds started disconnecting from the phone with this setting on.
Hope this can help. Cheers
I removed battery optimization from Spotify. Also allow background activity.
You can find it in settings, apps, Spotify

When my screen goes to sleep, my Wifi or my data connection stops (whichever one I'm using).
If I'm listening to the radio using Radio Time, the sound stops after the screen sleeps. An interesting thing to note is that if you go to the lock screen, it starts playing again. It seems like the screen just needs to be on. The problem seems to be limited to just certain applications because Pandora still plays after the screen turns off.
Another app, Android Web Desktop, which allows you to text and manage your files from the computer, doesn't work correctly either. Nothing loads while my screen is off but it starts loading once I turn my screen on.
I'm running on a Sprint HTC Hero with DamageControls v2.07.2 ROM for Android 2.1. I also have a Flan lockscreen. I don't know whether the problem is ROM related or what.
Does anybody know why this is happening and how I can fix this?
Please Help!
Make sure always on mobile data in settings is checked.

I just check the settings and I already had always on checked. Should I just wipe and see if the problem goes away? Am I the only one with this problem?
check the wifi sleep policy as well.
Settings>Wireless & Networks>Wifi Settings> [press menu] > Advanced >Wifi Sleep Policy
Setting it to never will make the wifi radio never disconnect, at the expense of battery, of course.
I have it too, although I sort of assumed it was by design. Makes for a pretty frustrating experience trying to use Gmote or Boxee Remote.

I'm still having the problem kinda. It seemed to not turn it off as fast. It stopped working after about 30 seconds in Android Desktop and RadioTime kept playing but was very skippy. Are you having this problem? I don't understand why certain app work and certain don't.

For problems with Gmote and Boxee Remote, this fixed my issue.

That was a useful suggestion. To go a bit further on this point. You can turn on/off your wifi (and more) by using applications like timeriffic when you really don't need it. Eg, when you're sleeping. Timeriffic changes some of your profiles based on time so it would be a great option to add to this setting change.

I use Juice Defender to do the same thing and I let it manage my mobile data connection. Helps stretch out the times between charges a little bit despite me using my phone very heavily.
Solution , for me
http://www.pocketables.com/2013/10/...ing-trouble-using-certain-apps-over-wifi.html
Turn off WiFi optimization .
I'm using Renovate 4.1 and quite often my screen will stay on til I press the power button to lock device.
How do I identify the process?
anyone?
ok, so I think it is GoogleServices.
What can I do to fix this?
Does this only happen when charging?

Nope.
It gets even weirder - I had googled and saw maps was mentioned so I launched Maps and checked settings to see if there were any "Keep awake" options etc. The gps icon appeared in notification bar. I closed the app and now the phone has gone to sleep as normal.
I guess something linked to gps was keeping the phone from sleeping properly?
Since updating to marshmallow, my longer notification sounds, especially Calendar Snooze, are cut off.
I read somewhere about an app setting to allow it to turn the screen on as a fix. I did that but now I can't remember what app I made the change in or where I read that suggestion. I thought it might have been Light Flow, but I can't find it in there.
Now my power button fails to wake up the screen the majority of the time. Sometimes the lock screen will flash for a fraction of a second and go black again. Usually it takes 6-10 tries before the screen finally stays on so I can use my phone.
Since the wake up problem started when I tried to fix the notification sound, I'm pretty sure they're related. Any ideas?

if youre using lightflow id suggest wiping the data in it and resetting your notification settings. it does tend to override the system so i can see that screwing with the duration of the notification, and starting fresh usually solves most problems
i have mine set to wake the screen for SMS but not MMS. it creates similar problems with the screen
Thanks for the info. I tried just toggling the screen on settings on and back off for all of the Light Flow apps, and it seems to have fixed my screen turn on problem, at least for now.

I'm having the same notification sound cut short problem, I have a nexus 7 wifi 2013 model running Mohamed rom v2.1
Whenever anyone calls me on google hangouts, the ring only lasts for a second before its cut off, this doesn't happen if the front cover is open, it happens only when its closed.
I didn't have this problem on kitkat, but on MM this problem started from day 1.
I don't see any light flow option anywhere.
Any suggestions to fix this will be very appreciated.
Thanks.

LightFlow fixed my screen problems, but it was just a coincidence that I installed Marshmallow and my sounds got cut off around the same time. I'm still looking for a solution to that issue. Similar to you, if my screen is on, the notification sounds work correctly. If the screen is off, they get cut off.
Hi,
I often use the RunKeeper application when I make long walks. In all my previous phones, the GPS kept working when I turned off the display and put the phone in my pocket. In the mi 5, however, it seems like the GPS stopped functioning as soon as I turn off the display put the phone in my pocket. When I take it back out, it shows the same position that I was at when I put the phone in my pocket, and within a few seconds it is updated to my actual position.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is this a matter of settings (maybe even permissions)? Same happens with navigation apps like Waze - if I put another application to run in the foreground, such as Youtube, then Waze (while still working in the background) loses my location, and when I switch back to it after some time, it takes a few seconds to show me my new location.
Thanks,
Shlomy
Hi,
This has happened to me also while using the Starva app and the reason is MIUI doesn't allow to use the Location in Background.
To allow that, go to
Settings -> Battery & Performance -> Power -> App Battery Saver
and select the app you want. Then you'll see that Background location is Restrict. Make it Allow and you're good to go.
Regards,
Samitha
Thanks so much! Almost got me to try custom roms because of that.
Hey guys. Loving my note 8. I do have an issue. When watching videos, I lose sound. I discovered that the do not disturb button is enabled. I disable it and hours later it activates itself, without any input. If anyone has had the same issue, let's talk.

You don't by chance have the Do not disturb option "Turn on as scheduled" activated in your settings do you?
This is happening to me as well, in the afternoons the 'DO NOT DISTURB' 'Enable now' setting is automatically turned on
My 'Enable as schedule' setting is turned off.
I have also noticed my DND randomly turns on, and then it takes me several times of attempting to turn it off before it will finally stay off. This sometimes happens several times a day. I do have a schedule in place, but my settings within that also fall out - such as allowing alarms or my favorites. The alarm option will stay stuck in the off position until I end up having to restart the phone. Once the phone restarts then I can make the changes I want, but not sure why I have to keep doing this. My fear is that this setting will switch while I'm sleeping causing an alarm to not go off or I'll miss an emergency call. I could just not use this feature, but I really like it and wish it would work correctly. I never had this issue on my S7
I am having the same problem after the most recent update. DND turns on all by itself every afternoon.
I tried using the schedule figuring it might force it to do what I WANT it to do, to no avail. It still automatically turns on every afternoon?
This issue even happens in Safe Mode
