Fishfinder Firmware Mod/Hack

Hi @ll !
I dont know a skilled community like this so i ask you these question.
There is a Community about Fishfinders and they got a Problem.
Humminbird produces US Products and International Products. The international are multilanguage but the US aren`t.
So if somebody want to use the device in another timezone the zone is locked.
The firmware files are for both versions the same. I guess the device look at the SN# and knows the version of the device.
So there is a software lock in the firmware. I guess the os of the devices is a mini linux because i extracted certain files.
The users will donate a successfull work. ( perhabs some hundred dollars?! )
I am not a pro in modding/hacking software so i ask you to help.
If there is any interest i will give you the the firmware *.bin.

If you have trouble to find the official page of Asus Driver and Updates for the TF701 (like i have) here is the link for it

You might ask "ok,but why a Thread?" ... well, because not everyone has the Asus.COM page as standard,and the other regions still dont have a support section (or even a TF701 section at all, which is for example in Germany quite strange .. you can buy it since 3 weeks but Asus.de claims this tablet doesnt exist?)
As you can see on the page there are already some Firmwares released (even a new one i dont have myself).
Always remember to download and use the WW Firmware (stands for World Wide),except you are from US,Japan,Taiwan or China.
There is also some other stuff you might need, for example (for future developing) the Unlocker.

Do you also know where to find the release notes?
I got mine yesterday and it update directly to Version V10.14.1.45 but I see on the asus page version Version V10.14.1.47

Mine did no OTA from .45 to .47 until today (November 3) so I downloaded it from Asus und did a manual upgrade - fine until now :good:
For manual updgrade: Download the .zip from Asus and unzip it once (it's a ZIP inside the ZIP). Put this new .zip now best on a microSD (or the root of the tab itself) and when inserting the card the tablet will state that there is an available system update

I think what he is searching for is release notes, what gets patched with the new firmware,etc.
But i must say im sorry, i didnt find anything like release notes so far.

Same here, no release notes on the 3 (!) firmwares released since I own the TF701T. Either Asus is listening very good to first customer complaints or they are still working on the firmware themselves... chose what you think
Anyway, I am very happy with it! :victory:

It has come with version 29. It has a new system update version 38 (JHDMIBH38.0)
Edit: just did antutu benchmark on the new version, the score is 32770

Your download didn't complete and the package is corrupted. You'll have to download it again.
OT : I opened this thread and bought an Honor 6 myself.

Anybody rooted v38 yet? If so, what's the procedure?

My Redmi Note got delivered by Flipkart Yesterday, its running v39 however first time I left phone connected, I suspect it downloaded v38 to a folder
called "Downloaded Rom" I think this folder came up after initial use
However phone is running v39 and I've rooted it already straight after the unboxing.

Hate to say it but it's most likely only the start of them being banned in many countries.

MIUI site having JHDMIBH 38.0 AS THE LATEST INDIA version available.
v39??? could not understand pl share full details and any new vissue dealt in v39

Does anyone know why even the latest v38 update is build on top of android 4.2.2 when it's almost time for lollipop for most of the new devices.
I mean it should have been KitKat right out of the box. I had high hopes from the v38 update but it kinda disappointed me :/.
Btw is there any chance of KitKat officially in the near future?

asharma7: sorry my Bad, I wrongly posted.
Running JHDMIBH38.0 as it was a OTA update.
Don't know why such a good hardware is so BADLY done on the OS side.
the included 4.2.2 is still buggy, MX Player and many apps crashes on various settings.
Xiaomi is too hesitant to publish the Kernel Sources and that's the prime reason why custom Roms are still not available for this beast.
They have announced earlier that kernel source would be available around new year, lets hope they do that so developers can PORT other available
ROMS and make this device more customization friendly, especially if CM12 gets ported, I'll stick to that without a second thought.

What to do if GearVR not working and asking for update.

Hi All,
Just want to share one of the options, what can you do if GearVR not working and asking for update.
I have an international version of Note 4 SM-N910F.
My operator didn’t publish necessary update and I couldn’t connect my Gear VR.
Spend a lot of time reading this forum, because I was afraid that I could brick my phone.
This method is 100% working and doesn’t require root and it won’t reset your personal data.
All you need to do is to check exact model of your Note 4, mine is N910F
Then go to sammobile.com -> Firmwares -> Firmwares database -> chose your version of Note 4
and find NK4 firmware update. For me it was N910FXXU1ANK4.
In my case I’m from Ireland and my Operator “Meteor” didn’t publish this update,
but another Irish operator “O2” did, so I used Odin to upload O2 updates and GearVR works just fine.

You're not talking about the same thing here, 910F is the "correct" variant, meaning it has the snapdragon processor and is "fully compatible" with Gear, however one needs to first upgrade to NK4 or newer to make it work, which some carriers have not yet made available.

Mine that I've tested is 910C that includes Exynos processor. Initially it wasn't working, then after following those steps it's working great for the last 3 weeks

Are there any ROMs or root for SM-N950S, N950K or N950L?

Hi folks, I've tried searching and browsing through the forum but all I see are other models of Note 8.
Anybody has knowledge if the Korean version of N950S/K/L can be rooted and flashed with a custom ROM?

As far as I know, the only Qualcomm note 8 that could be rooted was the N9500 from china.
Everyother model with Qualcomm chipset had a thing called safestrap with which you could get some functionality.
You can check the pages here on XdA for the Korean version.

Uhmm according to a few websites, the SM-N950K/L/S are exynos soc's not snapdragons .
But here is the confusing thing out of 3 websites 2 says they are Exynos soc's and 1 says snapdragon soc, hmm.
The op;
Chech phone info app from play store and see whose soc you got. If Qualcomm snapdragon then look at the safestrap method as @centaur31 suggested. But I think its only for the North American models SM-N950U1/U/W.
But is Samsung Exynos then below:
They should be bootloader unlockable, just check developer options for the oem switch.
As for any custom roms support I would check out the note 8 rom forums and find a rom for Exynos you like to use and search the thread and then ask if you didn't find your answer.
I would look at Dr. Ketan's rom thread first.

Thank you, if I'm not wrong, the Koreans have the Exynos. So in this case, it can be rooted? Isn't it irritating for Snapdragon users being unable to root their phones?
