Long story short, I've had my Moto X4 (4gb/64gb) Android One Edition for a couple weeks. It was fully updated to Android 9 with March security update. Apparently I got "lucky" and the date / temp wasn't permanently plastered across the top of my screen. The ”at a glance" options were not in my home settings. I factory reset it today and boom. Now I have the ”at a glance” bs plastered across the top of my screen.
How did I not have this fully updated, but then after factory reset?
Google Google.... I learned to live with the non removable Google Search bar. But this is to much. I shouldn't have to have either of these on my home screen if I don't want them. I also shouldn't have to root or use a different launcher just to get rid of them.
You can try clearing data of moto launcher rather a factory reset.

Part news and a question to the bright minds here at xda-developers. With what must have been a day after the 5.6.2.0 fire update for my Fire 8 7th edition there was a notification on an update for the ivona Salli voice. The voice for Salli I am very familiar with from the hours clocked in using a TTS with Salli's voice to read novels over headphones. In my opinion the update wrecked what was the best voice from ivona. So i get on with amazon chat tech support and their claim is a factory reset would revert it back (did not try that) and the update was made by a 3rd party (hey, amazon didnt you buy ivona?). Thats my news about the update and for my question. Was there an alternative to factory resetting to bring back the oem Salli voice?

Probably not as most Amazon components reside in the system partition which is inaccessible without root. Even if a factory reset works (I have my doubts) you'll likely face reversion to the 'undesirable' Salli on subsequent FireOS updates.
I did see a 4pda link for a modded apk of the ivona engine and voice packs, i would see if this works before doing a factory reset.
yeah 4pda works. I just installed Salli on my S9.
Hey folks,
I got an unlocked GS10 (SM-G937U1) straight from Samsung recently and set it up per usual (coming from a Samsung-unlocked GS9). My apps were automatically re-installed by Play Store, I took the latest Samsung update and rebooted. When it came back up, I noticed a little cross icon next to the camera hole punch (see attached). I cannot for the life of me figure out what this is. It wasn't present on the GS9 and I verified that I didn't install any new app that wasn't also installed on the GS9. As a matter of fact, I haven't wiped the GS9 yet and compared the app list on Play Store. Same exact set up of apps, no cross icon on the GS9. I did a few searches on Google and on this Q&A forum but couldn't find anything, so hopefully someone here knows.
And no, I don't have anything remotely related to Christianity or any other religion on my phone.
Your Bixby is Christian... #CrossGate
It's a sign from god to upgrade to s10 plus
probably related to whatever the KYM thing is
Hey, I got a few chuckles out of these replies. Thanks!
Tim got it right though. It's on the wallpaper itself (this).
Hi guys. I bought someones amazon fire 5th gen 2015 model SV98LN . i master reset the tablet, but now there are no apps and no launcher. everything starts up fine. I see the amazon logo, then the fire logo. Once it finally gets to the main screen, all i see if the lock screen. I swipe to unlock and all i see is a blank screen, but i am able to use the pull down menu and able to press the home button but then nothing is there and it goes back to the lock screen. If i register my amazon account to it, it tries to make a kids account. but i can only select apps that i wanna share that i have downloaded/purchased before.
other info.
when i select the check for update, it looks like it hangs and goes back to the lock screen.
when i do another master reset, it does the same thing
i tried reading on how to load up apps, but the tablet doesn't have a browser for me to download the google play store. I tried to use the "legal and compliance" section browser to download it, but that won't let me download the file.
i tried reading stuff off the micro sd and all i see is the stats of the drive and it won't let me view content
also i can't tell what version its on since the update section looks like it's been removed or something
Can someone please guide me what I can do. I don't want this tablet to go to waste.

Download the full update from amazon and flash it with recovery. What was on if before you reset it? if it was rooted, it might be missing files necessary for setup.
I have the UK model of this, running MIUI 12.0.3 with security patch 2020-07-01 (as it came from factory).
So I decided to have a quick mess about with the phone and eventually decided to do a factory reset.
Once back in, I noticed the following:
- Google app drawer is missing a few apps
- 'More app' drawer is missing an app (now 5 not the 6 - can't remember which)
- Completely missing the Games drawer
Other missing apps include:
- Mi Store
- Mi Community
- Opera browser
I am not particularly fussed, but more intrigued as I thought it'll reset back to the state I'd originally received it in from Xiaomi.
Is this normal? Has anyone else noticed?
I assume I could just perform an update, but would just like to know why this has happened and as mentioned above, I was expecting it to reset back to its original state?
I just got my Pixel 5a yesterday and immediately am annoyed by the Google stuff. I installed the Nova launcher but still get thrown back to the Pixel launcher or tossed into various assistant screens all over the place. Is there any way to truly turn this stuff off via normal settings? I don't really want to root or get custom firmware, but I despise these forced integrations between everything.
I don't want anything launching of its own volition or because I accidentally touch or look at the phone. I just want the apps to launch when I click them, the 3-button navigation to let me switch between tasks, and a simple homescreen to hold widgets and shortcuts I choose. The first reason I don't want the Pixel launcher is because it doesn't' let me remove the stupid search bar, but I also don't want any of the other hidden and implicit triggers that tie into the assistant.
I also find it annoying that the home button opens some search if I touch it while already on the home screen. Is this coming from the assistant too? I didn't yet find any settings in Nova to adjust the buttons.
I'm with you here. Installed Nova for the exact same reason as you. I do this next thing on all my Android phones: GO to settings > Apps & notifications > see all apps > Google = DISABLE... o some phones it can be uninstalled!
Personally I also disable "Google Play Services for AR" but that is personal choice. I also disable a number of other apps that I know I do not want/use.
I suppose I could use ADB to try and uninstall them, but once they're disabled that is usually good enough. The first one though, Google being disabled, "should" remedy all your issues. I too use the three button navigation and hate ALL assistants!
There's a program on here called 'adpappcontrol' that's great for removing anything you want via ADB.
It's basically just a gui for the command line program. It's worked great for me on at least three phones.
[TOOL] ADB AppControl 1.8.0 🚀 Ultimate App Manager & Debloat Tool + Tweaks
ADB AppControl 🚀 Root is not required. Works with any Android device. Can do almost everything you dreamed about with applications. ADB AppControl - the desktop program, that will allow you to easily manage applications on your android device...

Highly recommend. Make sure you tip the dev, since he does it in his spare time.

I could have sworn I already did that, but just checked and it is enabled. Has yours stayed off? Would the automatic Google Play app updates cause this to be reenabled?
I also now found the Nova setting Gestures -> Home Button that was causing this other search to appear if I press the home button when already on the home screen. Setting it to None with the checkbox still set for Only on main home page seems to give me what I want there...

Mine has stayed disabled. I can't speak to whether auto updates may have reenabled it. I always turn auto updates off. I like to see what is being updated on my phone.
