10.3.1 is pulled of, not possible to install it anymore.
I did it on the first moment it showed up, and it is full of bugs, and now considered as beta...

Hi, of you tap the 10 logo around 10 times it will then give you the option to flash your own zip file.

10.1.2 update

Anyone got the update yet? I got a notification but when I tried to update it was gone.
Oh gosh I thought it was just me seeing things!
I downloaded the update and tried to update through the updater but failed. Got the message "Error:7".
I downloaded the update, change the zip file to update.zip. Using the updater without problem.
Now in 10.1.2
Stock Camera got night mode now, however, GCam still need "Buffer Fix" Option to work.

Yes, this is an incremental update from 10.1.1.0 to 10.1.2.0.
The ROM of course is official, you cannot update an unofficial ROM without unlocking bootloader.

The update is not "revoked". It's just the moderator will remove any unofficial post of ROM in the forum. They want to keep all the ROMs under one official post.

OTA update requires stock recovery.
You can use TWRP to flash the full ROM, but not OTA update.
I think this is the reason.

mi 8 global android pie is NOT GOOD
NO Night Mode as we all waited
battery time is worse than android OREO
i only did the update because i needed the Night Mode but it is only available to Beta Version not Global
so we have to wait longer

"System update failed" No matter which update file/name (android 9 or 10)

Can someone help me please? I have tried so many different files and so many different file names but no matter what, I get an instant "system update failed" message when i click ok selecting the update. I have tried files here in xda and every A9toA10 update file I could find on Telegram, with every combination of file names, but no luck. I always get the same message. I also tried the official update of the same version (A9) nothing.
I did RAW firmware (1910.64) relocking bootloader, wiping before and after bootloader relock, still nothing.
I am currently at 1910.64, completely stock, bootloader locked (no warning on boot), no google account or patern required, not even connected to wifi, I STILL get the update failed message.
What am I missing guys? Is there a specific file I should be using? Everyone seems to be updating successfully, except me...
I don't care its a beta, I just need Android 10 for the global dark mode and the not-broken notifications of 9s doze.

No I didn't touch that. Compared to the S10+ the fingerprint is much better on the ROG so I didn't feel the need to.
I found the solution so for anyone in the same position with me:
You will need to be rooted at the latest Pie version of RAW WW rom.
If your phone is Tencent (like mine) you can't do OTA updates of WW versions and thats why I was getting the error message. You need to change the /vendor/factory/COUNTRY file from CN to WW. Use root explorer and its build-in text editor to open the file and change CN to WW. Reboot now.
The OTA update will still not start if you have rooted boot.img BUT magisk won't also flash the OTA update if you dont have rooted boot.img!
So you need to press "uninstall" at the bottom of the magisk manager and "restore images" at the prompt. This will restore the stock image, but still give you the ability to patch the OTA update and still have root when u update to 10. I thought just to fastboot the stock boot.img but nope! magisk wont patch the OTA if you boot with stock boot.img.
When you will press "restore images" you will get a message that a stock backup is not present and after some researching, I found out that the backups are expected to be in "/data/" with the filename: "stock_boot_SHA1.img.gz" so you need to gzip your stock image, generate its sha1 code and put it in the file name. I used 7zip for gziping and hashmyfiles to generate the SHA1. If you don't have the stock image, you can extract it from the official firmware's (asus website) payload.bin file using payload_dumper-win64"
After you get the "backup" gzip of your stock boot.img with the correct filename (including the sha1) you place it inside the "/data/" folder with root explorer (not "data/data/" just "/data") and you can now "uninstall" and "restore images" from the magisk.
When that is complete, copy the OTA .zip file of Android 10, disconnecting the usb cable from ur pc should trigger the notification that an update is present. Start the update, when it reaches 100% it will ask you to reboot. Select "later" and go back to magisk, select install and "install to inactive slot (after ota)" and restart when that finishes.
You should boot back to Android 10 and have magisk and root at this point.
Hardest rooting I have ever done, google really f'ed us with android 10 "security". I miss the good old days we were just flashing 1 file in fastboot and we had root+twrp+hapiness...
Good Luck to anyone trying.

Are you sure you are looking at the right folder? I believe its a mandatory file, but I am not sure. Maybe if you don't have it is for the better even. When you do factory reset, in what language is the setup? Before I edited that file mine was in chinese, but after editing its english.
Anyway, I have included a screenshot of the rest of the files inside /vendor/factory so u can check if you look in the right place.
I also uploaded the country file here DELETE THE .TXT extension, I put it so I could upload it here.

How to flash Android 12 beta
Click to collapse
The Android 12 beta ROM comes in the form of a .tgz extension, commonly referred to as a Fastboot ROM. To flash this ROM, you also need to have a Windows PC and phone with an unlocked bootloader. Instructions to unlock the bootloader of your phone can be found on your device’s subforums on XDA.
To flash the downloaded file, follow the instructions below:
Download the MiFlash Tool on your PC that can be found here. After downloading, extract the tool and install it. It is also advised to have ADB and Fastboot installed.
Reboot your phone into Download mode by powering it off and then pressing both the Power and Volume Down buttons together.
Connect your phone to the computer using the USB cable.
Download the Fastboot ROM .tgz file and extract it and make sure you remember the extract location, as you will need to paste the address into MiFlash Tool. Make sure there are no spaces in the extract location path.
Run MiFlash Tool on your PC and in the address bar within the tool, paste the extract location from Step 4.
Click “Refresh” within MiFlash and the app should automatically recognize your device.
Click “Run” within MiFlash to flash the ROM file to the device.
The progress bar within MiFlash will turn green, which indicates that the ROM was successfully installed. Your device should boot automatically to the new version.

You might have issues with third party apps that haven't been optimised yet for Android 12 etc

I think you can flash anything these days, if it doesn't work for any reason you can go back, there's unbrick and rollback fix on YouTube
You just have to delete about 8 lines of code and then you can flash backwards as well as forwards

There is no miui apps if those are important to you, its not ready for grandma yet!

Not worth it yet for most people imo

Question Is there a way to force/download OTA updates?

Ok guys, I'm new to MIUI so please be gentle
So I'm on stock MIUI 12.5.4 global (RKAEUXM) but there is a 12.5.6 out (also RKAEUXM).
I have no intentions of rooting etc. and I wonder if there is a way to download/force just the OTA?
Is saw the Google answers where it says set region to India etc, but that does not work (also tried with vpn)..
Anyone know how to do this?
Thanks!

Hey thanks for taking the time to answer my question..
Your first link brings me to a blank page with only an add for MIUI community app.
Your second link shows a download page which doesn't show a version, only says "global" and actually also say "modified copy" in Chinese.
So yeah, I'm not going to just risk that if you don't mind...

You can upgrade your phone by Local Update method without unlocking your phone. The method suits for the situations listed below for sure: Update to Global Stable ROM from Global Stable ROM, Update to Global Beta ROM from Global Beta ROM, Update to Global Beta ROM from Global Stable ROM and vice versa. If you encounter the issue that the reboot page keep loading for a long time after flashing, you can choose to wipe all data via entering Recovery Mode. You can turn off your device and then hold both Volume+ button and Power button at the same time to enter Recovery Mode.
STEP 1Download the latest MIUI ROM file Click here to download
There is no need to do it again if you’ve already downloaded the latest ROM file.
STEP 2Connect your device to the Windows PC/laptop via a micro USB cable, and copy the ROM file downloaded in Step 1 into the folder ‘downloaded_rom’ in the internal storage of your device.
STEP 3Launch ‘Settings’ app on your device, select ‘About phone’, click ‘System update’, then press ‘three dots’ icon at the top-right corner, and select ‘choose update package’ to enter. Choose the ROM file you’ve put in ‘downloaded_rom’ in Step 2.
View Image
STEP 4After choosing the right ROM file, your device will begin upgrading. Your device should automatically boot to the new version when the update is completed.
Go to system update->tap on the main icon 5/6 times, this will unlock hidden settings->now download manually from trusted websites like mifirm the RECOVERY version of YOUR rom. ->go then to update again and select on the three dots at the up right "choose update package"

You'd need windows..
So if you're on a Mac like I am for work then you could use boot camp and have a dual boot or just get parallels, have an OS within an OS, it's £70 a year but it works extremely well..

Your phones saying you have an update?
If you're rooted then you do not want to update the conventional way..
This is in my guide on rooting mate. Just follow it.
In short to update you do this.
1. Install oxygen updater
2. Change update method to full in the app.
3. If an update is available then download the whole thing, it'll be big.
4. Once downloaded, back out and navigate to the normal phones system update and click the 3 dots, then select local upgrade.
5. Take the update and let it install.
DO NOT REBOOT WHEN PROMPTED!!!
6. Back out and open Magisk.
7. Click the top install button and then install after OTA.
8. Reboot and you're updated and rooted.
I'm on NE2210_11_A.13 too, local install doesn't work (it doesn't recognize the Oyxgen ROM)

Turn on airplane mode, turn off wifi, then reboot, does it show it then?
read this the other day, someone was able to get it to show by doing something like this.
Or could be a Magisk module causing it, if you disable them then reboot, that may make it work.

It doesn't show if there is an update pending to install. Solution is to reset the phone and not connect it to the internet or to delete the installation hidden files.
Unfortunately the problem is not finding the option, but that when you pick the .zip for Local Install it says it's invalid. I've downloaded the ROM .zip file directly from Oxygen Updater and from external links to no avail.

Ahh I see so can I clarify, at the moment you're on the Chinese OOS?
And you're attempting to install another regions firmware?

Correct, NE2210_11_A.13 is the Chinese version. I'm attempting to simply install an OxygenOS official ROM but it's not allowing to. I have an OP8 Plus and it worked very easily, simply pick the original ROM, local upgrade (now the option is called "Local install" instead) and then clean cache and good to go. This is not working now for whatever reason. I tried both in A.12 CN to A.12 EU and A.13 CN to A.12 EU.
