Hi, everyone!
For a month or two I'm experiencing a problem: some games installed from Google Play are not working, they show a blank screen and won't start. And it goes only for the latest versions from market.
For example: last version of Minecraft (1.9.3) is showing only blank white screen, but if I install older version (1.6) - it works perfectly.
The problem is not connected with the rom - I've tried several variants.
Please advise.

I have the same problems. That's why i try to upgrade android and i install [ KatKiss - Nougatella #038 ].
But it was worst because now some games don't work.
It is android related for sure, I experience the same problem. Some games that my kids used to play for months, have updated from play store and no longer start (black or white screen). I've asked rom developer @timduru whether he has any idea, but he hasn't replied for couple of weeks now.

I downloaded the update for PSX4droid this morning and played a few rounds of Marvel vs Capcom, although it is a little choppy, this is the first version to run on Gingerbread.
EDIT: changed refresh rate to 30, played smoothly, but forced closed after a while.
snesdroid is also working.
whoooooooo I'm going to have fun tonight

Hi, I can't get it to work on my Nexus S. I just downloaded PSX4Droid, the correct BIOS (SCPH1001) and 2 different versions of FFVII. One is a .bin and the other is .iso. I can't get either to work.
When I click them in the ROM selector the menu slides off to the left (as if it's loading the game) but then it just goes back to the ROM selector page.
Any tips/ideas?
EDIT: PS: The .bin version came as an ECM but I unpacked it correctly.

Having the exact same problem on my Nexus S, and am following that same procedure. I also had another game that was in the ECM format that I converted to .bin format following other instructions, and tried like 7 other BIOS files I found online too. Anyone that got it to work want to shed some light on how they are doing it?
Wanted to add that I am using the free version, maybe only the paid version was updated to work?
EDIT: OK, really wanted it to work haha so went ahead and bought the v2 paid version, and it does actually work, so I guess that the free version has not been updated to work with the nexus s yet.
I can play games for a while, but they all eventually force close. Wack
Where are you guys finding PSX ROMs?
I'm unsure of the rules on this forum so don't want to link. Just google "psx roms" and use the first result. The URL starts with "emu"
force closing
streetfighter ex 2 10 seconds in and it force closes any fix or does the app still need to catch to are phones
Chocobo racing 's 45 fps but it don't smooth . Hix

I bought this a while ago for the n1. While the performance is better here on the ns than on the n1, playing a game eventually results in a force close. A bit frustrating.
I'm holding out for fpsece which is said to be coming out soon, with much better performance than psx4droid.

Can someone explain to me what this does? Is it like a playstation one emulator?

Yes, a psx emu. Put cd images of psx games you own on internal storage and play them on your phone with virtual controls.
Psx4droid Not working on Nexus S
I tried both the free and pay version of psx4droid and never got a rom to work. I downloaded different roms form different sources and even did some converting to .bin file from 7e files. Still nada. I also did the whole sch1001.bin (or whatever the correct file name is) and loaded that into the emulator but again nothing. All that happens is that when I try to load a rom is goes back to the menu page or just crashes. Any ideas about what I can or should do?
Thanks
I can't run smooth any ps1 rom . Hix . How can i config it ?...

fpse has finally been released (around a day ago). It's on the market for approximately $5. I'm going to give it a go and see how it runs.
Got it working
For those of you still having trouble with psx4droid on the Nexus S:
Download the v2 apk, not the v3 available on zodttd's website.
I found this, who knows how long it'll be there, but it works fine on my phone:
Ok seems it won't let me post a link, but just google "psx4droid v2 v1.1.2.apk" or a variation of it and that should do it.
Just tried it with Castlevania SOTN and it ran slow but at least it worked, I'm sure messing around with the settings could speed it up a bit, I'll research it when I get a minute. Tried FF Tactics and it booted up fine, didn't try gameplay yet.
Just got an update push from Android Market. Words with Friends Tablet edition available for download and install. The new updated version locks the player in landscape mode, with games to the left, current selected board middle, and chat to the right.
I find this is way better ... everything on 1 screen. Also seems faster (but still some sync issues with people ... one friend says it's my turn but on my screen it says it's his turn?)

Yeah I've seen this a couple of times before, most of it is resolved with an update. I have one friend that has the problem reguardless.

I upgraded to the German Samsung rom 4.03 with no problem and everything is working fine, however every now and then I am getting a small green icon appearing the notifcation bar at the top which if I follow takes me to the Play Store and offers me some type of pinup game or pictures, how do I stop this, it never happened with the previous rom.

Play store has some setting for ads and notifications.
Did you try changing them? I'm not sure if that would help as i haven't seen that "green icon", but worth the try!
Hope that helps bro...
I am adding a new thread because this is a very peculiar issue and i still feel something is really wrong in my N4 settings but i have seen some similar or even worse cases with some old gen nexus devices and i have tried some workarounds which don't seem to work so far.
Here is the problem description:
I cant play any videos in Facebook or Twitter official apps.
Facebook says "Error occurred while trying to play this video"
Twitter end up with a black screen and shows nothing( some 1 out of 10 times it acts as audio only with black screen again)
Strange thing is I cant play fb or twitter videos even in chrome browser in my mobile.
Youtube or other players work fine (Vimeo etc.)
Near about everything else works. Youtube app or browser playback is fine with no issues. Mx player runs fine too.
Some background about my device settings:
Android 5.1.1 stock, not rooted
Its using AwesomePlayer instead of NuPlayer in dev options.
There was one time when i was not able to play any video in my device because nuplayer was selected once by mistake and changing to AwesomePlayer helped.
But after that issue around 6 months back, i have done complete factory reset and everything was working fine for 3-4 months, i started getting this issue in last two months or so.
I read some similar issues in Nexus 7 2013 with Android Lollipop but not exactly this.
Is anyone else is facing or had ever faced anything like this?
Any suggestions on how to get rid of this? Don't want to factory reset again.
I have tried all usual things like clearing cache, reinstalling those apps but i think this issue is something else as i cant even play those videos in browser too.
Again i enabled the dev options last week and thought changing to NuPlayer might help but that also didnt help. All others settings are default settings.
PS: Intentionally not posting as Q&A as i believe some other older gen nexus devices are facing similar issues with new updates so this might fit well as discussion thread.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note its solved: Reason was the older version of Android System Webview app. Updated it and this issue went away. Hope this helps others facing similar issue.
I think it's something about google webview apk...do you have this app??

What Android System Webview APK do you have installed? (This is essentially the applet which allows 3rd Party apps to access the web). The latest version, 45.0.2454.37 came out yesterday. While I have had this same issue in the past with older Webview versions, yesterdays seems to be working just fine. Go to the Play Store and update to the latest version and see if that resolves.
Yes i have this, In my device it says the version is 44.0.2403.90 and it says its up to date. So maybe the update is not out yet for my region. It makes sense that this is responsible for it as i have auto update on and some new version might be causing this.
What do you guys suggest should i uninstall/reinstall this. Or maybe get an older version?
Thanks for your help.
Btw, Facebook video playback issue affects other device too, not only the Nexus 4. It happened on my aunt's phone.
Plus it's not a Lollipop issue, my aunt's phone is still on 4.2.2, and I had my Nexus 4 at 4.4.4.

Go to http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google...ebview-45-0-2454-37-arm-android-apk-download/ and you can download the latest Android System Webview module and not have to wait for it to become available to you in the Play Store.

Yes i have tweaked the subject and hashtags accordingly when i know the exact problem.
A solution for another possible N4 video playback issue
I came across this thread searching for a solution for for my video playback issue, with my N4 unable to play videos occasionally.
I eventually narrowed down the problem to firefox, and setting
Code:
media.android-media.codec.enabled=false
in about:config finally solved the issue I had for years.

I tried this. It didn't fix the playback issue for me, but before it shows a still thumbnail and the player but now there's nothing. Just a grey box.
Hi all
I upgraded to Oreo few days ago, and while in general it seems to be working fine, i have few issues / questions, hoping you will be able to help me.
1 - Before, on the lock screen, when swiping, there was a cool "ripple" effect, which is gone now - I searched for swipe effects option, but no luck, even after disabling all other methods of unlocking and leaving just the swiping one. How can I get that back?
2 - When trying to install APKs directly from Google Drive, it stops during file loading, with the error message "there was a problem with parsing the file". Now when i copy the exact same APK to local storage, it installs fine. Anyone else stumbled upon this?
3 - How the heck can I get black notifications back? (No root). In Nougat there were files for it (Blackframework.apk and BlacknotifactionsOnly.apk) that changed the ugly and battery draining white notifications into black ones, I tried to see if installing them would work in Oreo, but unfortunately they don't. Are there any versions of similar apps for Oreo?
(Substratum + Andromeda themes don't persist after reboots, so I'm searching for other solution)
Thanks for all your help
No more effects on the swipe, much like when we move from jelly bean...
same issues with number 2, has to do with the new way google installs apks, annoying as fuhh..
3. No black notifications until 8.1 oreo. unless rooted =( ... I helped make some of those overlays (blackandredcallui, blackandredV2, etc) sucks, i really miss em. =(
*** caveat on number 3, i think there is a guy who got them to work but he only has 3 themes and can find it in the theme/note 8 section. could be wrong..
