Hello, My Moto G 2014 has a weird issue. Pressing the power button basically kills and shuts down the display. The display cannot be turned on by pressing the power again.
Turning on the phone also does NOT show the display.
Only way i can see the display again is -
power off the phone.
get to bootloader
select reboot option
Then phone turns on nicely.................... untill i hit the power button again, then display is dead again.
Last couple of days, i'm not even able to get the bootloader. I tried pressing the power + vol buttons but no use.
I cannot use the adb option as i cannot turn on the developer options on the phone without display.
Really appreciate any help. Thanks
on my older phones (xperia xz1) there was an option to disable the lockscreen at all if the device is unlocked by the smartlock. this way i only need to press the powerbutton to get to the homescreen.
was i could not find any settings or apps: anyone knows a way to disable the lockscreen while smartlock has the device unlocked?

I have a Note 9 (SM-N960F) model.
Stock Firmware, no root.
Using Nova Prime launcher.
I have Fingerprint unlock and Smart lock enabled.
If i pick my phone up from sleep (locked)
i either press/swipe down
where my Home button (not visible) should be and phone goes directly to Homescreen.
Otherwise, i use Fingerprint unlockfrom "sleep" directly to home screen.
No need to press power button.
I'm sure this is better options.?
Only if you reboot phone or randomly sometimes (it's a security measure) I have to manually unlock.
This is the exact problem
Of your phone is already unlocked you still need to swipe up. I don't want to see any lockscreens at all. Why is this even implemented this way.
What I want is being able to use the phone without any unnecessary swiping after pressing the power button. (Razer phone 2 and Sony had an option for this)

i think you misunderstood my point.
I was trying to describe my button press action.
You don't actually swipe nothing.
You don't see the lockscreen, at all.
Call it press etc,
where the home button is.
It unlocks to Desktop.
You don't see the lockscreen at all.
From device sleep,
i "press " Home button
and device goes straight to Desktop.
Fingerprint it's the same. It goes straight to the Desktop.,
( You don't see a lockscreen)
Good luck
Yeah i got it
But that's the problem: you still need to swipe up the lockscreens if you try to unlock by the power button. Unlocking via Iris or fingerprint or pressing the invisible home button world great and you skip the lockscreens completely. But after pressing the power button the is 1 more action that is needed.
On the screenshot you can see (in German) "unlocked by smart lock" after trying to unlock with the power button

dont use the power button.
use the finger print or home button in conjunction with smart lock policy.
you'll get better milage off of the power button this way.
Yeah... Don't use the power button...
No sorry not an option ^^
Is one of the reason I don't use it, and also because I don't know the effective range.
But leaving the home button enable requires to let the "screen touch sensor" active so it will inevitably consume more battery am I wrong?
Are you on Oreo or Pie?
On Pie, this works fine for me. I press the power button, it unlocks with intelligent unlock and goes directly to the home screen/last app. No swipe needed. Does the same when I press the hard press home button.
If you're on Oreo, do what bober10113 says.
I am on Pie, and I am constantly getting the lock screen where it says unlocked by smart lock, but I still have to swipe.

So recieved the device this morning, everything all good coming from a X2 Pro, however one weird issue I currently have (am on latest firmware) is that the holding the power button does nothing regardless of how long I hold it for, so I can't turn it off or restart. Double tapping it works fine and pressing once to unlock etc, so it's not a hardware issue, is anyone else having this? Firmware is CPH2305_11_A.16
Welcome to android 12 --- volume up + power (2s hold) = the new power button .... don't ask... google did it!
I'm guessing Google think people don't switch their phones off.
Very annoying

Actually this is OPPO's fault.
On Pixel 6 Pro "power key to launch assistant" can be disabled and then power menu is back when you long-press power key.
On Find X5, the option just disables assistant launch and no option to restore power menu...
That's so annoying and unnecessary. I'm also struggling to find a vibrate only mode. I can't believe a 1075 quid handset can't do the basics.

There is...
In the notification quick access it's the bell. That turns on silent mode. If you long press to go into the options one of the tick boxes is to vibrate on silent mode. So that's your vibrate only. Once it's set you can literally just then use the bell quick button to go between ring and vibrate

Thanks. That's helpful. Is it possible to pull this onto the home screen as a toggle rather than swipe down each time from to access?
Cheers

I just installed global rom on the chinese pro 10 variant. However, when the phone is on standby (black screen) pressing the power button once has no effect. However a second short tap will bring up the power menu (on/off, restart, etc) instead of the password/PIN menu. I do not have facial unlock or fingerprint on.
Current the power button setting (Press and hold the power button) is on power menu. I have adjusted it already.
Any ideas? Thanks in advanced!

Recycle from assistant back to power menu.
Reboot between changes if this doesn't work.
Just tried it and it didnt work.
Toggle --> assistant --> reset, then
Toggle --> power menu --> reset
FYI if the screen is off by not on standby (ie screen just turned off within a few seconds) the power button does not have this issue. its only when its in sleep mode (waiting after 1 min or so). I guessing this is just an issue with global rom on chinese phone variants?

If you've just updated from 12 to 13 and haven't wiped then I'd assume it's something to do with that.
This is the first im hearing of it, when I updated, the device automatically changed to assistant from power menu. So it may be related to the update.
I guess as well I would ask why you'd need the power menu if your phone's asleep.
Well another bug to the list...
I had to go back to Android 12 duo to other issues like wifi and apps not updating.

I installed 13 from stock chinese firmware. I wiped through relocking the bootloader.
Power menu for when the phone needs to restart I guess? I mean I guess I don't need it but its good to have that function I guess....

Yea I was hoping I wouldn't encounter any bugs.
I'm checking right now and it seems my apps are updating in google play, but I am doing this manually. not sure about background self updating (usually I have that off). Wifi seems to be working as well (even on my newly purchased route with wifi6).

Oh right.. No experience with the Chinese device or firmware, I'd say to rollback to the EU variant.. There's a thread for this in the guides section, just search or Google it and it'll link to a OnePlus community thread.
I don't have such issues on my device so change region and you should be fine.
Hello guys! Merry Christmas to everyone!
Please, any ideas how to get unstuck from power saving mode?
I have the 10 pro, 2213, OxygenOs 13 and I was short on battery when I decided to activate the power saving mode.
Now, my phone wont get out from this powersaving mode even though it is charged , plugged in the ac adapter or after rebooting and shutting it down.
On my notification panel, I only have a few power toggles that cannot go in the settings menu if long pressed.
There is no notification message to disable power saving mode. I'm fully charged and still the power saving mode is on.
Knock on is not working and multitask button isn't as well. Home button sometimes work and sometimes does not. I really wish to get out of this powersaving mode as I had my phone looking up only for 3G network to maximize battery plus the other annoyances mentioned....
I recorded a video to show this behaviour.
Any Ideas? thank you all!

Hi I noticed you just swiped down don't know if you're aware you can swipe down further and the settings icon should appear. Try that I don't own a Oneplus 10 Pro well I haven't received it yet should arrive tomorrow but I keep seeing problems with this phone I'm considering on returning it. But I think you can swipe down further at least that's what I can do on Oneplus 7T Pro. Hopefully this may help you.

HI, mate. Well, I cannot swipe further down to expand the notification panel. Anyway, the settings icon should appear at the top right portion even if you don't swipe twice.. :/
Attached is a screen shot of the notification panel while in normal condition...
I'm sorry to say, but I cannot recommend this phone. If you can get a s22u or pixel for a similar price, I'd definitely go for it. I have a long list of complaints and suggestions about software on this device.. I previously had the s10+ for a happy 3 years

You can always go into fastboot... go to recovery and format...start all over

I can't... Tapping on settings icon will bring up a blank screen for a split second before closing automatically. Long pressing power toggles will say "not supported action"

yeah.. But since I'm about to go out for dinner and I am going to work tomorrow morning, I really do not want to configure all apps and everything again in a rush.. If this is my only solution, I'm selling my OP this week
Press and hold the power button.
Tap and hold the "Power off" option.
Normally a new popup menu should appear on your screen that asks you to “Reboot to safe mode”. Answer “OK” at this point and let your phone reboot in Safe Mode.

Maybe this might work. When you swipe down tap on battery icon and it should take you to battery settings, again I don't have your phone but it wouldn't hurt to try.

Update!
I was able to boot on safe mode. Then, my phone presented me correctly the Super Power Saving Screen and I was able to disable it!
Safe mode steps on OOS13:
Once your device has been powered off, long press the power button to turn it back on and wait till you see the device manufacturer or the Android logo.
Once you see the logo, press and hold the volume down button until your device reboots.
Release the power button once your device has rebooted and you will now be entered into the safe mode.

What happened:
Saturday 24th I activated the power saving mode when I was 5%. The phone died and later when I turned it on, it was on SUPER POWER SAVING MODE without being on the "Super power saving launcher". Instead, somehow it was on my NOVA LAUNCHER while being on super power saving mode, as shown on the video...... So I was not able to disable it or access any configuration. My phone was on Do not disturb, good night mode, 3G network locked...
I tried booting to safe mode, but instead I got to a Recovery screen written in chinese ( isn't this phone supposed to be global or European? model 2213) a few times.
This bug was seriously weird and should be investigated by oneplus. Such thing cannot happen!
Thank you all for your time and your help! Very much appreciated!
