Random reboot - Xiaomi Mi A2 / 6X Questions & Answers

I have had the A2 for 2 weeks, and facing random reboots in middle of phone calls and also when turning screen on after being off for a while.
Is this a faulty hardware issue ?

Never experienced such issue, are you on the latest, June 2019 patch?

How can I tell if I'm on the latest official build for A2 ?

same here with latest update

Lineage OS update installation problems

Hello,
About two moths ago, I installed Lineage OS on my Mi Mix. All went well and is still well, except for when the 11th of September update came out. All updates until that one worked without problems. This update and the one after this one (that came out on the 18th of September) will not install.
I get an error 7 message and something about needing Mi UI 8.8.30 or later. The thing is I did not know that Lineage OS actually used any version of MI UI and I don't actually think that I have one installed.
Can you please help me understand what the problem is and what I can do to fix it?
If any more information is needed, please let me know.
Thank you,
gg3l

Updating twrp fixes this or finding the right version more so.
[my setup working]
[fw] Pepsy-lithium-06092018-O-MR1-v0.9.1.zip
[OS] Lineage-15.1-20180925-nightly-lithium-signed.zip
[twrp] twrp-3.2.1-raupe-blunden-15.1-updated.img or twrp-3.2.1-raupe-blunden-15.1-vendor-fstab.img (can't remember which one I flashed last sorry but either will work)
[gapps] open_gapps-arm64-8.1-pico-20180907.zip
magisk and xposed working well. I can't fault it yet.

This has been answered and mentioned several times unfortunately. Please use the search function before posting threads
You cannot go from STABLE to BETA without unlocking the bootloader, and you especially cannot do it from the updater. It must be flashed. I'm going to assume that you are trying to "update" to the new version with Android Pie. The Mi Mix 2S just a day or two ago received stable MIUI 10 with 9.0. Be patient and wait for the update for us as it should be arriving soon. Beta versions were intended for developers and for testing purposes and may have bugs. It really is not worth the trouble of unlocking the bootloader and jumping to a test version for a newer version of Android even more so when a "stable" version is just around the corner. Most things will remain unchanged from MIUI 10 based on 8.1.0 to MIUI 10 based on 9.0. People have been bricking their devices due to little experience with Xiaomi smartphones, and it would be terrible to see another one join the list.
How long we wait?
I've got a global mi 8
It's mid march, latest update is 8.1 Oreo Android with 9.6.6
I keep searching for updates and shows none

It's global stable rim
Android 8.1
Miui 9.6.6
Model m1803e1a
Bought on eBay all works fine just can't upgrade
If I download a zip file and try to install under system update - choose file it says the this rom isnt valid for carrier type or something like this.

Sorry for the late reply. I believe it may possibly have a vendor ROM. Your phone should have updated over a month ago to MIUI 10. At this point I believe the only solution would be to unlock the bootloader in order to flash the latest version. Unfortunately this takes about 30 days after the unlock is requested.
That's the 3UK version of global.
No updates as of yet, either be patient or unlock bootloader and flash global stable of Pie.
Yes. And to be honest, DO NOT rush for 9.0. There is severe battery drain on 10.2.2.0 and 10.2.3.0. I used to get 6+ hours of SOT (screen on time), on 10.2.2.0 I would get about 5hrs, on the latest 10.2.3.0 I get 4 hours. Others have complained about the same. In my opinion, the added features aren't worth the battery life lost.

We have 3 Mi8's in our house
Personally I am using the Mi-Globe version " globeROM_v10_dipper_9.3.21_cfg" it is fantastic! It has all of the features such as dark mode, AOD options, face unlock, charging animations, the best themes from all over the world and zero ads.
On the other 2 phones we have the official 10.2.3. While its not as good as 9.3.21 the battery life is still about 8 hours SOT.

System updates bring a newer look to your phone, fixes bugs, solves most heating problems (which mostly depends upon your phone's processor) and gives you a faster and improved performance and they are often necessary for device security or efficiency. And be sure to install (and use) Secure Update Scanner so you don't fall victim to the pileup flaw.

Security patches: eea vs eu

I am starting to be a little disappointed on the frequency of security patches for my eea mi 9... Is this substantially better on xiaomi.eu?
On the latest Xiaomi.eu we are running the September Security Patch
I think that Xiaomi is waiting for the release of Android Q to update the security patches
It's pretty odd that the mi9 SE has been sitting on MIUI 10.3 with july security patch for 2 weeks now while the mi 9 is stuck on june SP with miui 10.2. Basically the cheaper version is getting updated faster, so I guess they have some additional bugs to fix on the mi 9.
Well if they would fix idle battery drain I'd be happy with waiting...
Mi9 and I'm still on june security patch

Latest EU Q is supposed to be 9.8.22 (eu versions read as 2019.August.22, I've learnt that recently)
> Wiping is MANDATORY
> Backup using Titanium Backup only, not TWRP
> I suggest using TWRP 3.3.1-41 and using F2FS conversion in one go

Being a lazy guy I always do dirty flashes. Coming from Global Dev (9.6.27) I simply flashed Xiaomi.EU (9.8.10 Android Q) over. Since then upgraded to 9.8.15 and now 9.8.22. Runs like charm.
Of course, recommendation always is 'clean flash'. But this one can still do in case a dirty flash doesn't work, isn't it?
Cheers
Toscha

Yes you can use it as a daily driver for sure, there a few minor bugs but they doesn't affect your daily experience
I switched on another ROM only because I can't use the Google passwords autofill in third applications (outside of Chrome I mean)
Thanks All who replied. I am now running on EU Q ROM appears perfectLy stable and I love the enhanced dark mode that forces some apps without dark mode to look like dark mode.
As my boot loader was locked, unlocking wiped the phone so a dirty flash was not relevant or required

Unlocking my boot loader wiped the phone but glad to hear I can dirty flash future Q builds
It's quite obvious why this is happening. The Mi 9 is going to be one of the first phones in the world with Android Q, so it's obvious they are just developing for it, and stopped patching for Android Pie.
After all, this is a flagship, they will want to showcase Android Q on it as soon as possible.
I've got August security patch with 10.2.30 on EEA
Changelog of 10.2.30

Bug or update issues?!

Have been facing sudden reboots or auto lockdowns, is this that same unsolved bug of Huawei or is it related to the latest update?!
What model and firmware version are you on. My device is as good as ever. Model VOG-L29, build 10.1.0.201.
