Update ro.vendor.build.fingerprint for MI 8 - Xiaomi Mi 8 Questions & Answers

I recently checked out my ro.vendor.build.fingerprint and I am on Xiaomi.eu Beta builds.
In the build prop it states "Xiaomi/dipper/dipper:8.1.0/OPM1.171019.011/V9.5.9.0.OEAMIFA:user/release-keys".
Afterwards I flashed the newest chinese beta fastboot rom via Mi-Flasher and it successfully booted and the ro.vendor.build.fingerprint was updated.
Then I flashed TWRP and flashed newest xiaomi.eu beta build, after formatting data and stuff.
Booted into Xioami.eu the updated ro.vendor.build.fingerprint was no more the new one I flashed before, instead was it the old Oreo 8.1 one.
How do you update vendor firmware base instead?

Use Magiskhide props config.

Flashing anything resets device

I've got this new OnePlus 3t A3003. I'm happy with the performance battery and everything but there's this one issue that troubles me. I got the device unlocked bootloader and flashed aospa. Everything was nice and smooth then I flashed SuperSU later. The phone got reset and wiped except for the internal storage. I didn't know what to do and I just left it. Then later I came across some audio mods and tried flashing it again the same thing happened. So I tested and came to the conclusion that flashing anything wipes device. Why does this happen?
What versions TWRP and SuperSU? Just a guess, but maybe an older version with some compatibility issue? Try another version TWRP?
Otherwise, what version firmware? I don't know if AOSPA updates firmware (as some ROMs do). Maybe try to update OOS to current version 4.1.6 and start with fresh firmware, and install current version TWRP again, etc.
My phone is encrypted so what happens is I flashed something then the phone boots and asks for the password to unlock first then after entering it resets. I didn't know why I even switched roms rn using resurrection remix 7.1.2 latest version and still same problem. So im pretty sure the problem isn't with the rom. Twrp is latest version afaik and with rr rom magisk comes so I'm on v12 of magisk. I'll try using another version of twrp and oos.

Thanks mate, there was something wrong with the twrp version I had. I flashed the latest version of twrp 3.1.1 I think and that seemed to solve the issue.

Reverting back to Nougat STABLE build from Oreo Beta

Hey everyone. As the title says, can i revert back to stable version of OS Nougat by flashing the OxygenOS 4.5.1 ROM? (Its 1.46 GB) I'm unrooted and on the stock recovery and bootloader is locked. Can I simply do a local upgrade? If not, whats the procedure?
I'm asking because the guides i found on this topic mentions a special build of OS which is the Open Beta version, but i don't want that. I want to revert to the stable version of OS on my OP 3T.
You cannot revert back to Nougat/Marshmallow directly from the Open Beta. There is a special firmware package to be flashed and there is partial loss of data.
As quoted on https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3t/how-to/coming-update-oos-based-7-1-t3564240
"Notice:
If you want to revert back to the last Open Beta N build (OnePlus 3 Open beta 24 or OnePlus 3T Open Beta 15) you will need to flash the special build provided below. Because of the nature of downgrading from a major version, this will cause you to lose partial data.
Instructions and Info:
The build will wipe app and cache data, but Internal Storage will be saved (ie: pictures and files)
Users who revert their device back to the special build can still OTA update the device to Android O build at a later date."
You can't install the stable version directly, only via the installation of the special build, then installation of the stable package.
Are you sure that if u have TWRP then u can't flash directly the stable OOS rom?

I'm not sure about being on TWRP and flashing an older build, but since OP is on Stock, he'll have to follow the instructions as given by OnePlus.

Data security and phone encryption. Miui custom rom

My new MI8 SE is not my daily use, so I got time to check all available MIUI custom rom (eu,Globe,MiRum,Miuipro,Ros,MS and Masik 1.8.)
At this point no problem, they install very well and they answer my needs.
BUT:
AS EVERYBODY should know that it is very easy to delete the central Password and finger print by the mean of our sophisticated tool (I mean TWRP).
In order to be safe '(without turning back to stock rom) I tried to encrypt the phone WITHOUT success...
Process failed every time with different results (full reset, logo loop for hours, partial encrypt for data only). But was always the point that minimum security can't be reached!
Question:
-Can you well sleep If you mind that you are having all your precious data available in the wind as soon your phone is lost or stolen or even worst let in some bad friends hands...? It takes 1 mn to delete the file without any computer.
I see a partial solution by installing afterward a stock recovery that does allow to trick the system file.
(If somebody has it, I am available to test this option, but don't tell me to flash a stock rom as solution!!)
Your comments/solutions are welcome.
You can have encryption with custom ROM, if the corresponding kernel enabled built-in force encryption.
I'm currently running phh treble 9.0 encrypted, with stock kernel patched by this script:

Thanks for taking care of my post.
This is old now.
I've investigated a bit more and found ways to get MIUI custom ROM encrypted. (for now I want to stay with MIUI stuff!)
I know that almost all AOSP like rom may well encrypt from first install.
My aim was and is still to warn people that without encrypt their phone are open like a lost book.
Thanks for the very interesting and documented thread (link) you directed me to.

If you don't mind could you post a detailed guide to flash our Mi 8 Se. I tried once and got mine hard bricked and i'm scared to try again.
Our forum lacks detailed instruction and it's all hit and trial. And since you have had your hands dirty, could you do that?

Just take care to flash latest 1227 version after EU rom older than 8.12.20 date.
In my view it's a mistake to backup anything with TWRP because as of today nothing is stable. Better to stay with MIUI backup and computer duplication.

That's OK!
you flash 9.2.15 with TWRP 1102 or 1217.
YOU DON't REBOOT THE ROM.
you flash twrp 1227 and THEN you reboot the rom and wait install finish, take some time be partient.
simple!

Finally i got it working following your instructions on the MIUI EU forum. Thanks a bunch. :victory: :highfive:
To others for reference. Following are the procedures that i followed to boot up Miui Eu :silly:
- Flash official 8.12.13 (Dev Fastboot Rom) through MiFlash.
- Flash TWRP 1102
- Clean Data
- Push/ Copy and Flash 8.12.20( EU Rom), it booted up finally without redirecting to Fastboot.
- Update 8.12.20 to latest available from system updater.
- Now there won't be any recovery or we aren't able to enter into available recovery even though the system boots.
- Flash TWRP 1227.

Eu Rom. Need help

Hi guys, I couldn't find a full guide here. Mostly scrambled. Can anyone Please dm me or write here , a full step guide to shift to eu rom.
Currently I am on the latest global rom V11.0.2.0.QCNMIXM : MIUI 11 : Android 10 .
Previous xiaomi device I owned gave me a headache whenever there was an issue of bootlooping etc that comes with flashing i.e. it was difficult to get back. What's the situation here.
Basically I want to shift to eu rom with magisk etc.
Please suggest most stable kernel, recovery etc and procedure. Appreciate any help , links will be helpful. Thanks a ton. :fingers-crossed:

3. Format Data partition with twrp
4. Copy rom to internal storage

Yes, Finally Done. Just booted up. Will let you know what all is working etc.
I unlocked bootloader.
Flashed TWRP, using xiaomi adbtool ,
in twrp formatted everything , but not vendor.
Flashed xiaomi eu rom , then again formatter cache and dalvik cahche, and then formatted data ,.
If you don't format data then the device will keep rebooting to twrp.

Yep, I'd install EU ROM, but didn't like it, many bugs in addition to the ones already in stock MIUI, actually using Havoc OS GSI 3.8, recommended for a less bloated experience and awesome tweaks for this device

Which version did you try?
11.0.8.0 was buggy for me but 11.0.11.0 is really smooth, only issue I have with it is that gestures won't trigger the PUP player so I'm stuck with on-screen buttons. Haven't tried their 11.0.1.0 build because TWRP still can't decrypt Android 10 but I've used it on stock and it was still pretty buggy.
Hopefully Xiaomi will patch it and not just release another broken Android 10 build, this time with MIUI 12.

I am using 11.0.10 , I am not going to use twrp to flash anything anymore so... Doesn't matter to me about it.
But I am finding this to be better than stock miui. Feels a bit more smooth , everything seems to be working just fine.

Question Update EEA ROM without unlocking

Hi there, I recently purchased a Redmi Note 10 Pro, it's currently on the following MIUI OS and firmware.
MIUI GLOBAL STABLE (EU edition)
12.5.8.0 - RKFEUXM.
I would like to update it to MIUI 13 if I try and update using standard OTA update it says nothing is available and I don't seem to be able to update it manually as it says sorry can't update to this stable version. I would like to try and use the method outlined here :
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/update-to-beta-miui-13-eea-xiaomi-beta-tester-bypass.4395965/
However I can't find the ROM I'm currently on available to download, i can only find 12.5.7.0 and if I try using that it says you cannot flash an older version.
This is where I looked for the ROM, where you can see the latest EEA ROM shows as 12.5.7, however I'm on 12.5.8.

Thanks for getting back to me. I downloaded that update and I get the following error.
Flash to this stable version is not allowed. I've attached a screenshot. Thank you in advance for your help.
Hm, I faced similar message long ago, updating from oldest 12.0 miui directly to latest 12.5, had to increment to latest 12.0, then to latest 12.5. But you're already on latest 12.5.
Try this one, maybe it's not allowed to directly update to latest 13.0 ?

And last time, are sure you use the EEA or RKFEUXM? Found 12.5.8 is the latest 12.5 for RKFMIXM, or Global non EEA.

I get a message saying sorry, cannot flash to this older version with the link you have provided.
I've attached the error and I have also attached my phone version details, which I believe is the EEA version. Please can you confirm I have this correct?
Thanks again
Also wanted to add, I found this post. My phone box was dated 05/22 and wonder if the updates haven't been released to this batch of phones? However my phone is on Android security update 01/03/22...surely running a 4 month out of date security update isn't good?
Thanks Again
Same problem. It's stuck on 12.5.8.0 RKFEUXM. None of the newer recovery's work via 'Updater'.
I've tried (SKFEUXM):
13.0.3.0, 13.0.8.0 - "Can't verify update. Sorry, flash to older version is not allowed"
13.0.9.0, 13.0.10.0 - "Can't verify update. Sorry, flash to this stable version is not allowed."
Current security update: 2022-03-01.
Alright I give up, sorry. Move your data, unlock your bootloader (this will clean format your device), flash/boot latest official twrp then flash the 13.0.10 EU update zip. 12.5.8 EU might a recalled update that never goes to wider public.

Could be, very odd though, seems like a few people are in the same situation as me. Was hoping Xiaomi would resolve it.

You can relock it again after a successful update to latest EU. But to be sure, better flash fastboot image (*.tgz file) using mi flash instead after unlocking bootloader, rather than flash recovery zip using twrp.
For anyone else reading this, I returned the phone to Amazon and was sent a replacement with a different date stamp 02/22. This has successfully updated to MIUI 13.0.10 without any issues at all. Definitely something to do with the 05/22 batch of phones.
