Does anyone have backups of their partitions on the lg v40 under sprint?
Specifically hunting down the original OP partition on sprint?
Any help greatly appreciated.

I got a brand new V40 i haven't messed around with yet, i will make Qflash backups for you, which partitions you need? We do have to exclude some partitions such as userdata etc. because by default even on a new phone those are too big to be backed up and uploaded.
Well I may not need them as bad anymore but I think it's a good thing for others to have access to. I found a used us cellular cracked up v40 on Craigslist so I bought it and backed up 95 partitions and used those to get out of a jam....sort of. I lost my IMEI doing what I did so this is how this stuff goes. Answers to questions just raise more questions and round we go. Ya userdata was almost 50GB alone so that can sit. The 94 us cellular .bin partitions I'm just about finished organizing them and I will have a link to that in case someone wants those. For sure if you have time to backup and give a link to those files that would be great. One question do you know if there is such thing as a batch backup for qfil? The whole one at a time thing is not fun .

Haha, this is why i was lazy about doing backup that there is no way on Qfil to do these in a batch backup that I know of and it's a pain doing these individually. I spent hours searching online to find a way. And then spent hours backing up all LG V35 partitions and as you mentioned the userdata partition alone took up most of remaining storage on my PC. It is a great idea to have a backup and upload it for others, thanks for doing that. It is also really good idea to backup your EFS and other unique partitions in case those get wiped accidentally.
so any luck on the at&t partitions?

Never mind, think I've determined these would just be a direct match to what you'll find in qfil partition manager, and thus just a flash one by one.
Thnx, Cheers

Questions and Suggestions.....
I just got a second captivate, this one WITHOUT a cracked screen!! Now i realize i could just teardown and swap the main board, or the digitizer itself, but... that would be too simple!
Or i could just call my provider and change my imei with them... but who wants to talk to their provider??
Or.... i could do something fun and learn, by cloning my phone. from what i understand, all i would need to change is my IMEI, contained in my EFS.. and i have several backups of my good efs, and could easily backup the new one.
Is it simply as easy as copying the efs folder over with root privilages? or better to do an ADB dd (data dump) then tar it and odin? or ADB push/flash....
Is there anything im not considering? Is there any real risk if I have my EFS backed up? Any other ideas? suggestions? discussion?
any neat/interesting things to do with a copied phone set?
I have mine dd'ed and ready to flash with heimdall(i don't think ODIN will touch the EFS partition, but Heimdall will if you put it in there) So IDK, I would talk to conexxion2005 or AdamOutler about this!
thats what i was thinking...
Yahh, Or contact Benjamin, I forgot his last name, but he made Heimdall
Just dd the efs partition and flash it with heimdall. Thats all you have to do.
Code:
dd if=/dev/block/stl3 of=/sdcard/sdext/efs.rfs
do the same with your new phone to make a backup of it. Change the name of the efs file so you dont overwrite it. When you get done, swap the serial number stickers. I didnt tell you all this. Its illegal
it's personal development for learning purposes.
This is why I value second opinions.
now to get 2 (active) sims for the same imei.....
they both have ICS RC3.1 on them ive had the one a few hours.
one with silver speaker mod, one with out. if you dont know silver speaker mod, GO FIND IT NOW! READ THE FIRST 4 PAGES AT LEAST!
this is what ive been dealing with for the past 2 months......
but it works just fine....
I dropped it a good 10 feet, but it was fine, 20 minutes later took out of my pocket to see this...

Lol my sister's looks exactly the same!
Just flashed it yesterday, it's weird to feel all those cracks under your thumb, and it still works.
I'm not sure DDing then flashing it to another device will have the correct effect but it's worth a shot. I can do remote IMEI repair for the Infuse and Vibrant 4G but their EFS structure is different from the Captivate. I know for a fact you can't just throw nv_data.bin files around and expect the IMEI to follow as it won't. However, DDing the zone then flashing could result in the desired effect.

How would I know for sure? By checking the about> phone?... Running ice cream sandwich so I'm not sure if the dialer codes will work
I wonder if any of this would help me with my borked IMEI? I'm on the network default IMEI (the one ending in 0000) and I really want my original IMEI back...
Any ideas?
Do you think it would help flashing to stock including CSC files? Then immediately booting into stock recovery to force it to apply this CSC?
I know it does some funky things in that first recovery boot.. Applying settings and such...

It worked for me.
From what I understand the EFS contains some device specific information? Here is a blurb I read:
"But What is EFS?
Now that I have your attention about EFS, you might be curious to know what is EFS? EFS is a System Directory, that contains some important information about IMEI, Wireless MAC Address, baseband version, Product Code, System ID and NV Data. Usually your EFS data remain safe no matter what happens, but its corruption occurs when you try to install any Custom ROM and Got this error."
So if we share a TWRP back up that includes EFS and someone else restores that EFS, what will be the out come? Possible wrong IMEI, mac address, no connection?

I figured so. I thought I would put the question out there for more experienced people to verify. I just noticed TWRP allows me to back up my EFS stuff, and I seen someone share theirs in a twrp backup for others to flash. Looked like bad news.

Yeah I honestly have no idea exactly what would happen, I just know that if your EFS gets lost/corrupted you are pretty screwed, unless you have a backup. I'd imagine that flashing someone else's EFS wouldn't be the smartest thing to do.

Unless I'm mistaken, only Samsung devices have the EFS issue. Here's a thread on the Moto X forum acc to which the X doesn't have the EFS issue (LINK). Most likely this device doesn't either. So using another's TWRP backup wouldn't be a problem.
That would be cool if it didn't. I seen our twrp version makes a backup of a EFS partition of sorts. Your link seems to refer to the 1st gen moto x? Hopefully your right, who wants to worry about EFS corruption.
So i m one of the ones that used the root for 4.4.4 on at&t. It worked but write protection is still on so you have to flash the system.IMG with it already added for apps that require to write to it. So how can I make one of these?

My MX13 XT1060's are both unlocked - 1 is a dev ed the other I bought a code for. I was offering to help those with locked XT1060's if they wanted MoFo but no one seems interested. I will see if I can make a pre-rooted image if someone is interested in MoFo for the XT1060 but if no one is interested, I won't waste my time.

I haven't done it before - another poster did it. I don't have the linux knowledge to do it.
Do you have any friends who have the Moto X GSM Dev Ed? If so, I could tell you what to have them do. They would have to make a nandroid of their system first, then factory reset, then root, set up their system with all of the apps you want on your device and then pull the ext4 image from their device through ADB. Then it should be flashable by MoFo. They could then restore their system using their nandroid backup.
Oh I see. Couldn't I just take one of mine?

OK since write protection is still enabled, then would need to use linux to install busybox in the system image. You would have to read up on how to do that if you don't already know how. I don't know how to do that but I know it can be done b/c another poster who is knowledgeable about linux did it for the XT1096 image.
Or if you know someone with a GSM Dev Ed, you can follow the directions I gave above.

MoFo is not available for your device. In order for it to be available, someone has to create a rooted ext4 system image for your device. Then once they do, they can ask maiko1 to open MoFo for your device to test it.
I am able to make an ext4 rooted image for the XT1058 but only b/c another poster came up with a way to do that through TWRP. But that is all I can do for the XT1058. Someone else who knows linux would have to add busy box to it. Or if you know someone with a GSM Dev Ed, you can follow my instructions above.

Yea I was thinking of making the busy box part except all the guides I found were kinda outdated I think. Also if you make the rooted ext4 then give it to maiko1 will he open mofo for it or is there something else he needs? I'd be willing to test for him

But opening up MoFo for the XT1058 doesn't do anything for you if you or someone else doesn't create the images for your device. The images are device specific so you would still need to make the images - either using linux or if someone you know has a GSM dev ed then you could follow the instructions I gave you.
Well I know that. Are the images for mofo the same as the ones I need? And if he opens mofo I could try to make them but the thing is it's really hard to flash them so if mofo is easier it would help with this process

OK I re-read your post and maybe I misunderstood but you don't write very clearly. If you are asking me what you need for the root method you used, I don't know what you need for the root method you used. I have never used it so I have no idea what it entails. Yes yes, an 8200n, I ordered one in bad condition but it boots so I will post the data here as soon as I got it!
I have copied the first 128M of the mmcblk0 of that device. Now I have no idea what to do. Maybe one of you have a better idea.
Hey, any progress here? I also need the img.
As I wrote, I got the raw data but I have no idea what to do with that!
Here is the raw dump of the beginning of internal flash. Flashing it directly to mmc (not to some partition but to /dev/mmcblk0 or similar directly) might recover booting. Then you have to wipe /system /data etc. and install an image from twrp, because OS is not included in this img. In case anyone has a better idea what to do with that, please tell!
https://l3p3.de/shr/goldenve3g-raw.img.gz
Thank you for your fast reply.
As I understand, the debrick img file is used to be written to a SD Card and the hard bricked phone should boot from that.
After flashing your image with Win32DiskImager or Etcher and putting it in the phone, it won't start.
When I flash the last file from this post (Debrick for 4.4.2) (Yes, wrong model). The SD-Card shows something like 26 partitions. That confirms this post:
should show approximately 23 partitions (IIRC)

Your img does not create any partition, but when extracted with binwalk, I can see that there are multiple files inside.
So I think your img is broken, how did you create it? Did you use this post or maybe this one? Can you replicate my partition list? Can you build it again?
I have just dumped the raw internal memory, the first x megabytes of it. It should contain partitions but I don't remember much.
I can look at it again later, have not much time now. But I have that phone and it will be done.
Hey, how are you? Do you have some spare time around?
Sorry, I worked a lot on https://github.com/L3P3/minicraft the last weeks. I have forgotten this thing. Next weekend, I try to do it.
It is an old phone, you should keep it but it does not hurry too much, right?
I also recommend buying a used S4 Mini [serranoltexx] and put Android 11 on it like I did.
Minicraft looks like an interesting project, I will keep an eye on that.
No, there is no hurry, I am trying it just for fun.
Actually i hard bricked my moto g6 XT1925-6 while OTA update. There was an update in my device. I was so excited that i didnt notice my battery percentage and i updated it and now it is dead. It is detectes as qualcomm usb-hs qloader 9008 and i am searchong for help to recover it. I searched for blank flash file but there is no such file available for moto g6 except in lolinet website. There is one blank flash file for ali model and i tried but its not working. I have been searching for solutions over a half month. While searching I went to moto G5 thread and there was a solution that they were booting there device using mmcblk0.img using 64gb sd card. So i think to give a shot on moto g6 also. So i am here to ask for any developer or user of moto g6 to provide me mmcblk0.img file so that i can revive my device and use it again. There are many tutorials on how to create it. So please please help me. Thanks in advance.

Friend also need this file to remove the hard brick of moto g6 xt1925, which is only flashing the white led! can make it available on Google drive!
mmcblk0 is the whole block and by the way this post should be in the Q&A section this is for Develoment
Guys c'mon. Instead of moving post here and there start helping us. Those who have moto g6 provide us mmcblk0.img. I will try to boot and resolve problem. I think there is no any chance that motorola will be providing us blankflash file.

Hi, bezay...
I haven't done any tinkering around with partitions, eg., performing dumps and flashing stuff for quite a while, and given that my own Moto G6 isn't rooted, which if I recall, is a prerequisite for running dd=(if, of) shell commands to perform such a dump... so I'm afraid I can't help you, unfortunately.
-------------------------------------
'mmcblk0 is everything!'
However, as has been commented above, mmcblk0 is the whole of your devices internal storage... in much the same way that mmcblk1 would be your SD card, if you have one installed.
As I understand it, specific device partitions (eg, system, vendor, data, etc) have names like mmcblk0p1, mmcblk0p2, mmcblk0p3, etc. Note the 'p1', 'p2' and 'p3' etc., appended to the end of mmcblk0.
So what you're asking for here, with mmcblk0, is for somebody to upload their entire internal device storage which I'm fairly certain wouldn't help you, even if it could be done.
And I don't just mean the 'user' data partition either... where you keep your photos, music files, videos files, documents, PlayStore installed apps, etc... I mean EVERYTHING ~ ALL partitions ~ Android System (Oreo or Pie), vendor partition, cache partition, 'radios' partition, and likely other, more obscure partitions. In fact, everything encompassed by the mmcblk0 block, which constitutes the whole of your 32Mb specced device.
So you need to be more specific about which partition dumps you need, 'cos you're asking for everything!
For example, on my old (now defunct) HTC One M8, there was something like 40+ partitions, (eg, mmcblk0p29, mmcblk0p30, mmcblk0p31, p32, p33, p34 etc... mmcblk0p43).
I suspect the Moto G6 will have a similar structure. Anyway, see the screenshot below for the partition layout for the M8 ~ it conveys some sense of how the mmcblk0 block is divided. And I strongly suspect the Moto G6 will likewise have a similar partition structure.
-------------------------------------
I hope you get your Moto G6 fixed, but I doubt your current approach will prove successful.
Good luck anyway. I hope you find a solution.
Rgrds,
Ged.

Yes, mmblk0.img is the whole internal storage of the device. That is why I am asking so that I can use my 64gb sd card as a virtual internal storage of my device to boot it up. And another thing I am not asking whole of your personal data. Just backup all your data, clean wipe your device and make backup and provide us so that we can revive it. Although I am not sure that it will boot or not but I read in moto g5 thread that some of them were able to boot and repair their dead device using mmcblk0 provided by developers or users. So I thought to give it a shot that is why I am asking here. If no one can help us then it's ok I will wait for updated blank flash file leaks from Motorola. Anyway thanks for your concern and providing us relevant information.
