Is it recommended to install antivirus app on rooted - bootloader opened phone, or the Google play protection is enough? If yes, please recommend for a light, free one.
Thanks

Hi all,
Im new to Android but I have done a fair bit of developing with Windows phones. I have recently bought a LG Optimus 4X HD and the first thing I want to do is install PhoneLocator Pro for security.
In Windows I used to install security software to the extended ROM so if it was factory reset the software would stay. PhoneLocator Pro says it can do this if the phone is rooted. I have read the guide to rooting and im ready to give it a go.
My question is after I have rooted it, installed the software and removed the bloatware is it then possible to unroot the phone to protect it from accidental deletion and also to increase the security by not allowing deletion of PhoneLocator Pro when it is installed to the ROM.
I have done a lot of reading up on rooting but cant find anything on unrooting. I have also searched but when you search for "ROOT" a lot comes up.
Thanks

"5th. Automatically turns on the GPS giving you greater accuracy. Available only on phones with ROOT"
Soo, if you unroot the phone, the app won't work...
Stock apps can be uninstalled from the phone, and if you unroot there is no problem.
We can't have everything...
Thanks for your help.
If I leave the GPS activate all the time it should still work though shouldnt it?
How do I unroot and then i can try it?

In "SuperSU" you have the option "Remove root completly".
About the app... I don't know if only needs root for that option or to work normally. I never tried that app.
Thanks RuedasLocas.
In your opinion what freeze app software do you consider the best. Im thinking of trying App Quarantine and AntTek App Manager. From what I can see a few havent been updated for a while and therefore dont run so well on ICS.

Sorry if I steal the answer to this question but you can use the free app SDmaid. It also has an App management menu where you can freeze apps.
Or use Titanium Backup Pro Root.

Well... I use Root Uninstall Pro and AntTek Explorer, now, if they are the best or not...
They're very easy to work with and very effective.
RU allow to uninstall or freeze, give the app file location and directory thru AntTek Explorer.
AntTek Explorer allow to see and manage hidden files on the device.
If you plan to do some more Android stuff (especially flash roms what might be possible soon), I'd recommend you to buy Ti Backup. It's great for backups and can freeze, root uninstall, fix market links and more. I have never regretted buying it because you can do so much with it.

Recently i was unable to root and with the help of xda people answer i was able to,ty a lot for ur help,
now i am rooted and on firmware 14.1.G.1.534 IN version as i found using china firmware disables my camera.
now i rooted via Vroot and currently facing problem that is the superuser has got inbuilt process kill which kills almost all my mod at reboot.i am really not liking this features as after many try even my touch pro is still being killed and i am using Xposed module - ultimate dynamic Navbar, which too is being killed which is a creates a real mess. plz tell me a way to disable this superuser feature.
Next thing which is next firmware available which i could apply without loosing root access, and plz tell me is an INDIA firmware available to it as china firmware creates a problem for me.
Thx in advance....
Super user is not the cause of your problems. What else have you installed?
Also, if you don't like the Chinese FW use one of the other firwares that is posted in the mega collection.
You can gain root on any FW ending in .534 That is the latest one with root
wierd problem
others apps are same that i had before, super user has system optimization which i want to stop,as when i optimize it ,it kills all the apps running even if it is in notification...so its bit troubling.I will even try to post all the current aps i am using soon as possible for ur convinince.
i have got fw ending with .534 that to in version which me rooted on current ,my question is can i upgrade to new one which supports root access.Ty
I see, you have the Chinese super user app.
Best to download kingo root in your pc and re root with that.
It will put an English language super user so on your phone and your problems will be gone

If you used vroot / 360root and want to replace the Chinese SuperUser with the English SuperSU, you can do the following:
1. Install SuperSU via Play Store
2. Start the app and you will be prompted to update SuperSU binaries
3. Go to SuperSU settings and choose "Switch superuser app"
4. Reboot
5. Once phone starts up, immediately go to Play Store and install SuperSU again
6. Start the app and you will be prompted to update SuperSU binaries
7. Done!
Hopefully, replacing with the English SuperSU will solve your problems.
still the issue exists

You can root using towelroot and to check just download root checker at play store.

Download ES file explorer and enable the root explorer function. IF it works, you have root. P.S use towelroot if you aren't rooted. It's the best method for dogo.
thanks guys for help but let me try to rephrase my questions as iam an android newbie .
those preloaded videos was something like this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h1a7KjdUqmA , but i don't remeber seeing them before installing clean master , so does accessing these videos need rooting ? and can clean master root my phone without permission ?
iam asking because i bought my phone just a month ago and i don't want to void my warranty

The video you are mentioning must have been preloaded on your phone(mostly it's in videos folder in internal memory). Clean Master does NOT root your phone. Also rooting does NOT void your warranty, unlocking the bootloader does. If you want to root you can use towelroot.
I've had the phone rooted last year and haven't really messed with freezing unused apps until recently, bringing my battery life length to normal.
One of the apps I have frozen was Kingroot. Out of all the apps I've frozen, I'd think that one would be the culprit.
Here's a list of the relevant apps I've also frozen:
Root Browser
Root Checker
If there isn't a way around this, could I possibly reinstall or update Kingroot? Thanks in advance.
If your bootloader is unlocked and you have TWRP installed, you can use SuperSU instead of Kingroot.
Kingroot has issues and should only be used when absolutely necessary. Someone said it sends data back to China for no good reason.
Here's a post that details how to completely remove Kingroot and use SuperSu instead. I've only posted the relevant parts.

However, if you absolutely cannot use a computer, you can do this, although I do not recommend it:
1. Google Kingroot, download, install it onto your phone and use it to root your phone. Be aware that Kingroot is developed by a Chinese company, and part of their rooting process involves sending lots of personal info to them for reasons that aren't entirely clear. There is some debate over how legit they are, but their root method should work on a phone with an unlocked bootloader.
5. Uninstall Kingroot.
6. Download this to your phone and install it using TWRP:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-turbo/development/rom-su4tl-49-100-stock-t3390041.
This will remove all of the Kingroot files from your phone that probably were left on it after you uninstalled it.
7. Download this to your phone and install it using TWRP:
https://s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/supersu/download/zip/SuperSU-v2.78-201609011115.zip
You should now have a rooted, TWRP-equipped phone.

Thanks for the tip on KingRoot, Chazz.
I've just figured out the solution; Settings/Apps/Menu option in upper right-hand corner/Reset app preferences :good::good::good:

I edited my post to incluede @TheSt33v instructions on how to completely remove Kingroot. There is no valid reason for keeping it on your phone.
Hi,
I have recently found out a program with a null name in my apps list and believe it was a malware or something, so I deleted it and since the phone is rooted, I believe it's infected. So I wanted to relock the bootloader (have no need for a rooted phone anymore) but can't download all the apps and games again due to my low bandwidht.
So I was wondering if I make a backup with TitaniumBackup of apps + data, will the malware be able to transfer to new non-rooted phone via a possible infected app? Or it's safe to do so?
Thanks.
This needs to go to Q&A section. If you want to clean your system. Factory reflash a firmware from Google. That will totally wipe your phone to out of the box state. Be sure to backup your internal storage t your PC first before reflash. Also, in this I'd recommend you restore you apps from play store
