notification sounds issues - Moto X4 Questions & Answers

Dear all, I wanted to report another issues/bug? regarding notification sound on my Moto X4 (moderators, please merge with already existing discussion if this massage looks like a duplicate). Every day I have the same issue. When the screen is locked, any notification I receive, mostly Whatsapp, Gmail Twitter and few others, I receive sometimes the sound, sometimes the vibration, sometimes nothing. When using other apps, for example instagram, I do receive messages from Whatsapp, but no sound, or at least vibration. I really hope this can be fixed with the next update. Thank you for your help!

Notification Issues (MLB At Bat & CNN)

Hi. Long time iPhone user but new to Android as of two weeks ago. Bought the HTC One (AT&T) and am loving it so far.
However, I have been having issues concerning notifications through a couple apps. Specifically the MLB At Bat app and the CNN app. Let me start by saying that I have received notifications without issue when it comes to email, texts, and Facebook.
Now, with At Bat, I have notifications set up in the settings for the app (specifically for my favorite baseball team), and I technically do get notifications. What I mean by that is, if I happen to turn on my phone, I will see that a notification previously came in. However, I do not receive any audio or vibration feedback to accompany the notification. So, the phone doesn't actually alert me. The same case is true with the CNN app. In the settings for the app, I have set up to receive notifications for breaking news. Again, I technically get the notifications sent to my phone, so they will be there when I happen to check the phone for whatever reason. But when the notification is sent, I am not alerted in any way (no tone or vibration).
As I said before, I get notifications (accompanied with audio tone and vibration) without issue when it comes to emails, texts, and Facebook. I have scowered the system settings and the settings on the individual apps but everything appears to be in order. Thanks in advance for any help or direction you fine folks can provide.
edit: Also, I have uninstalled and reinstalled both apps, but nothing has changed.

Viber notifications problem

Dears
The Viber app on my windows phone always shows two more notifications when in the background, i.e. now I have no chat in it, whenever someone says hi, it says that I have three unread messages, which in fact is only one
And I know, I checked all chats and nothing unread is left.
Can someone show me a way to remove the other two annoying ones?
I appreciate your time to read this and contribute to it with your help!

Delayed Hangout notifications

Hi there,
has anyone have a fix for delayed notifications from Hangouts and possibly some other apps? I've got delay about 6-7 minutes, before notification come through, and when I go to conversation before notification come through there are messages unread. Already tried disabling [battery optimization] and [Restrict app background data] for Hangout but this does not fix things. I've wondered if this has something to do with issue with Nokia described at dontkillmyapp com but mine Nokia 9 doesn't have those system apps installed.
I don't have this issue with Hangouts on the 9PV, but I do have it on my OnePlus 6T. Funny enough though, my wife doesn't have the issue on her 6T. It's weird, but it seems almost random how Hangouts has delays like that.

Delayed/Absent WhatsApp Notifications in Pie-based Custom Roms

Hello there,
I tried several Android 9 custom roms from the local xda rom forum and faced an issue with WhatsApp notifications in all of them.
When I use the phone and receive a new message, it shows a notification for it properly, I also get notifications in the lockscreen if the phone was used like 5 minutes ago.
But as soon as the phone is unused for like 15 minutes and I wake it up, no WhatsApp notifications are shown (notifications from other apps are), neither in the lockscreen nor after I woke it up. I then need to open the app manually, only then I get all new messages and corresponding notifications at one blow.
So far, WhatsApp is the only app where I noticed this problem, notifications from other apps like Telegram and Gmail work without trouble and as intended.
I always do a clean flash, don't use any customizations and set up WhatsApp freshly. I also excluded WhatsApp from Doze in the battery settings, but this didn't solve the problem.
In MIUI and other Nougat-based roms, I don't face this issue. I didn't test many Oreo-based roms to give a report about them concerning this issue.
I'm not sure if I do something wrong or if there really is an issue.
Do WhatsApp notifications work for you without problems?
Or do some of you also face this issue? If yes, were you able to fix it?

That are aggressive doze settings
Which is ysed for good battery backup.
I am having same issue with WhatsApp.
Gmail and Telegram works fine for me, there is no issue with that. but i have issue with Instagram direct message that it does not shows until i open app but other notifications such as comment, new following are shown properly but i think it is a bug with Instagram since other notifications working fine.

Major issue with delayed push notifications

I have been experiencing delayed notifications on my Note 9, mainly with Facebook Messenger, but it applies also to the Line messenger app and Outlook, so it's not confined to one app. It's probably just that I use Messenger often, so notice it more with Messenger
The symptoms are a random and sometimes very long delay between sending a message and receiving a notification, measured in minutes to hours. Sometimes, I'll receive a bunch of notifications from multiple apps when opening the screen.
Other times, even opening the screen does not cause me to receive notifications. I can be actively using the phone and there will still be a random delay on notifications.
For example, I was using my phone earlier to web browse and my girlfriend sent me a message. I did not get a notification. After 30 minutes, she called and asked me why I was not reading her message. Opening the messenger app, I saw the message there (as well as the time at which it was sent) and about one minute later the notification came in.
Similarly, I can be using the phone and someone will video call me on Messenger. I don't get a notification until I actually open the app (I know this since my other phone that has the Messenger app installed on it rings, so I know I have an incoming call).
I can test notification delay by using one account from a computer to send a message to the account linked to my phone, so I know exactly when the message was sent. But the notification delay, even while using the phone actively, is still present and measured in minutes to hours, whereas the other phone receives the notification immediately.
It is NOT doze mode at fault. I have explicitly disabled ALL battery optimizations as well as turning off doze mode with ADB at boot time.
It's not bluetooth, even though some users in other threads have pointed to bluetooth being at fault.
I have cleared cache, uninstalled all updates for Google Play Services and Google Play and reinstalled them.
The phone itself seems capable of receiving push notifications correctly. I can use the push notification tester app to setup a high priority notification for, let's say 10 minutes from now. Then I shut the screen. After 5 minutes, I send a message to my phone with Facebook Messenger. No notification is received for this message.
After 10 minutes, the Push Notification Tester app triggers its notification correctly, which is received immediately. And then shortly afterwards, the notification comes in from Facebook Messenger.
Clearing cache and data on Messenger doesn't make any difference, and as I said in the first paragraph, it does not appear to be the app, since other apps are affected.
This is driving me crazy. I miss out on messages and important emails.
Is anyone aware of any solution to this problem? I just see a whole bunch of snake oil remedies on the net, but no real solution.
It appears to be something that might be related to notification priority, judging by the behaviour of the Push Notification Tester app, but this is just speculation on my part
