Google Pay Configuration - Xiaomi Mi 9 Questions & Answers

Bank cards are continually unconfigured on Google Pay
????
Enviado desde mi MI 9 mediante Tapatalk

Same with me since the last Update

I'm using the following magisk modules for months now on every Xiaomi.eu version released (currently 10.10) and never had the issue you mentioned:
"SQLite for ARM aarch64 devices"
"GPay SQlite Fix (Full Edition)"

The problem is: I use the global stable rom without root and bootloader unlock and it still doesn't work longer than 2 weeks.

Same here, and now my bank won't let me configure my card any more as it has been done too many times it now has seen it as a fraud risk. So I can't use the phone for payments any more unless I call the bank and reset the fraud trigger every time!
Combined with the issue where it loses 4G data, this phone is a waste of time.

Best overall custom rom for ZUK Z2 PRO?

Hi this is my first post been using this site for a while now and finally decided to register.
I have the ZUK Z2 Pro which i installed the mokee rom on initially but with the rom i had issues such as the camera and calendar kept on crashing.
I then decided to try the AICP rom which seemed like a decent rom but with this rom i have noticed the battery life isn't that great and it takes ages to charge the phone aswell.
Is there any rom out there which is complete with everything working and no issues?
Also do any of the rom support fast charge as i don't think the mokee one did and it doesn't seem like the AICP one does aswell.
Im not too clued up about custom roms as this is my first phone which i am trying it with for example if you buy a Samsung or iphone they are updated on a regular basis and they don't really seem to have any issues regarding apps crashing etc.
Also the other thing which i have noticed with custom roms some apps do not work like with AICP snapchat doesn't work and I have also read some banking apps don't work aswell.
Looking forward to some feedback and advice.
Thank You.
Resurrection Remix Maybe? you could try
Well I've tried almost every custom rom available and I can say that I've encountered the same issues as you.
Have you tried Resurrection Remix? the latest update appears to be very stable, it's like AICP but with a better autonomy regarding battery life. I haven't found any big issue so far (putting aside the u-health/heart sensor not functioning).
Sadly I always go back to stock sooner or later as it is fully functional if you ignore the big ass problem with the notification panel which is pretty much the main complain about this phone in every corner of the internet. This last time I had to go back due the fact that my bank app stopped working regarding some update Google pushed to prevent custom roms to pass SafetyNet which is a bummer because RR was almost perfect for me. I tried to flash the latest magisk but for some UNKNOWN reason I lost my speakers and no matter what I tried I couldn't get them to work again until I went back to stock.

Hi,
I've just downloaded RR yesterday there was a release of the latest version which i was going to try and see how that is but i think most custom roms have issues such as there will be something which doesn't work.
How would i go back to stock if ive installed a custom rom?
Thank You

Hi,
Just a quick update i've installed the RR rom yesterday so have been using it for a while and all i can say is this rom has been really good for me.
Battery life with this rom has been amazing i'm really surprised by it.
Some apps still don't work like snapchat doesn't allow me to log in, i'm not sure about the banking apps as i haven't tried them yet.
Overall really happy with the RR rom will see how well it is over the next couple of weeks and see if i notice any bugs with it.
Hope that helps.
I managed to log in to Snapchat by configuring Magisk Hide on the Magisk Menu, just make sure you check the Snapchat checkbox in order for Magisk to keep root hidden from Sanpchat.
Hi,
I'm really interesting by your experience because i think to change stock for a custom and if I could find perfect rom directly, it would be cool.
This Phone is very cool by the way !
I will follow this thread with attention,

First I flashed this through TWRP, it's a Magisk Uninstaller: https://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4174453&d=1496871083
Then I flashed this beta version of Magisk: https://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4199816&d=1499018891
After that you need to set Magisk up: Go to your phone Settings > Magisk manager, go to the Menu and select Settings you can activate Magisk hide right there.
Now go back to the Magisk manager Menu and select Magisk Hide, there you can find every installed app, just search for Snapchat or whatever app you have problems opening and check the little box on the right.
Aaaaaan that should do the trick, cheers.

Hi,
That's how i have been trying it but its still not letting me do it like that.
I've bought Zuk Z2 Pro and Xiaomi Mi5s, but i want to stay with Zuk.
The problem is that I don't have much time to mess around with ROMs and stuff, so I need a stable realease for daily use, otherwise I'm gonna stay with Xiaomi Mi5s.
So my questions are:
This release of RR is stable already or would be better wait some more?
Or the Indian ROM is more stable than this one?
Sorry if this is not the right place for this questions
Hi Henryke99,
I've tested pretty all the custom roms wich use android 7.
RR is very stable, very fast and good for battery life, and I've not noticed any bug. But there still is some chinese stuff to desactivate or uninstall, and it does not follow all the android security patches (also it's not an "official" rom).
So if you are not obsessed like me by security, and don't mind to not have the lastest ROM, RR is a pretty good choice.
But for me, AEX is the best because it's updated very often, no major bug, no chinese stuff, very stable and fast too.
It's an "official" ROM, wich mean the developper is pretty active and correct the bugs when they appear, so for me it's an important point too.
I hope this would be helpfull for you!
I recommend RR. It's very fast and a nearly perfect battery drain. Actually there's security patch of June. In comparison to stock roms of most well known smartphone producers (Samsung, Sony, Apple) an update frequency of two months is no problem for me.
I've tried out AEX and AICP. They are also very nice but they have more battery drain and RR is much faster. Perhaps RR will get also "offical" status.
Hi,
after RR, AEX and AICP, now I´m back to Gizrom. It is fast, Utouch and Uhealth is working perfect. Has the best Image quality and all features that cam supported. Ia slowmo 120,240 and 960 FPS. Notification works fine for me. Coloured LED with Lightflow App (but no blinking, its permanent). Many Languages included. I use with Nova Launcher. Nearly perfect for me. I use it in german.
Good Morning. In Gizrom do Utouch and Uhealth work?

That dont worked for me. I used Zuk 2.5 qfil Version. wiped system, dalvik and Cache. Than installed with twrp 3.1 ---> intern storage will erased!
Battery drained about 2-4% over Night.

You don't have to root to use Android pay with the EU Rom. If you look at the features in the post above yours you will see they include Google certified as part of the package.

I was going to try this out today, but I'm getting the good old "10008 followed by some Chinese text" error when trying to bind my device in Developer Options in order to be able to unlock the bootloader. As far as I know, there is no working fix for that right now...
EDIT: One proposed solution is to connect to a Chinese VPN server and trying to bind it, but it hasn't worked for me (I've tried with four different Chinese servers).

Thanks! I think I ended up trying ten or so VPN apps, but I wish I had tried plexvpn earlier.
Although I apparently still need to wait 72 hours (or more like 62 hours) to be able to unlock.
Glad I could help! I still need to wait 24 hours until I can unlock

Why do you have to wait, to unlock the device?
I didnt receive my device yet and it will be my first xiaomi device, thats why im asking
It's hell to unlock this phone. After you jump through hoops to finally get the phone registered to be unlocked, xiaomi puts a mandatory 72 hour wait on the phone before it can actually be unlocked.

+1 same question. ^^
My phone will arrive in round about 10 days, so is it possible to wait out the unlock time before I've received the phone?
You should try and start the process without the phone. Once you get the text you will need the phone to register it. To register it use a VPN app like plexvpn to register the phone in developer options. Use the Shanghai location. Once registered you will need to wait the 72 hours.
72h are over for me. I will unlock and flash EU rom after work.

PayPal always detects root

Hello! I do not know how the PayPal app does it, but it is the only app that the root always detects me, I can pass Safetynet that even in all the others, PayPal always detects it.
Then it gives you the option to continue using it, but I do not understand why it's always happening that safety is detected.

SafetyNet passes well - all green.
Magisk: 16.0; Magisk Manager: 5.6.4, Universal SafetyNet Fix: v2 Beta 5
Must be that device, cause I am using OP5T with magisk and PayPal and it never detects with magisk hide.

+1: same situation with Xiaomi Mi Max 3 Pie
I haven't generated a random package name for Magisk, yet. I give it a try.
UPDATE: same result after switching MagisK manager application name.
I experienced this issue upon attempting to enable my PayPal virtual card for "in-store usage" in Google Pay. A solution that worked for me in this scenario was to set Magisk "Superuser Access" to "Disabled", successfully enable the PayPal virtual card in Google Pay, and then set Magisk "Superuser Access" back to "Apps and ADB".
It's a MIUI issue!
In security app - antivirus - setup, is a slider named "Root". Disable it and the PayPal app stops detecting root.
I'm using xiaomi.eu, so I can't say if this issue is in global too.
Thanks. Based on ur solution now my Paypal is Secure.
This Issue still persists on my OnePlus 6, OOS 9 Latest (Magisk 18.0)
It worked well for me since end of last year until February 2019 it stopped working somehow..
After investigating, I found this thread, leading me to conclusions on what happened...
I tried all solutions posted above, with no luck.
I just found a trick by removing "Phone" Permissions from the Google Play Services App (Via Apps / Notifications Menu - You need to always turn it off before making a payment)
(https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5t/help/google-pay-unlocked-bootloader-root-t3775413, - 2nd Page)
I will give it a shot after updating my Magisk to 18.1 (currently newest version)
Any trick to hide root from paypal completely?

[GUIDE] How to Fix/Improve GPS Lock on OnePlus 5 with Oreo ROM

I ran into this exact problem recently on LOS 15.1.
Props to Asiier for this post which helped me develop a hybrid fix.
I narrowed my issue down to a mix between a bad/dated gps.conf file and Oreo Google Play Services.
If you have the same issue, now or in the future, here are a few things you can do, but you must be rooted.
Option A) There is a Magisk Module - Global Optimized GPS File Replacer - that will replace your gps.conf file with a more updated one. Make sure though that it places the file in both /system/etc and /system/vendor/etc. If it doesn't, copy it to the other directory. The latter is where it's stored in Oreo on OnePlus 5, but some apps may look for it in the former directory.
I didn't fully trust this process though the instructions in the module are very good. The code is here so you can create the file in Notepad or Wordpad yourself and save it with .conf extension.
Option B ) If you want to do so manually, make sure you place the file in both system locations, and set the permissions 644 or rw-rw-r---, otherwise it won't work. Obviously, make sure the old file is deleted and the new one is re-named to gps.conf. Then reboot. I tweaked the file and added several US-based NTP servers to the list, but otherwise left it as written.
After either option - download either or both of these Apps:
GPS Status and Toolbox
GPS Locker
Switch to Device Only in location settings and re-calibrate your compass. You can use the GPS Status app or another app of your choosing.
Open either app and download new AGPS data.
Toggle between High Accuracy and Device Only and that will help to get a good lock.
After that, GPS lock should be much quicker, or can be reset with a new AGPS download.
I found that Device-Only is a better setting for LOS/OP5.
Of course, make sure you're outdoors, otherwise this won't work well, or not at all.
NOTE: Flashing a new build or new ROM will overwrite the gps.conf file back to the bad version, so this process must be followed again each time.
Thank you very much for this guide!
Would this configuration work properly if google play services are not installed?

I don't know. I haven't tried that. All the apps I use GPS with require Google Play Services/Maps.
That said, I think Google Play Services is part of the problem overall. Once I get a lock, I make sure I'm on Device Only setting.

I, too, started having issues when I moved from OOS to LOS on a clean flash, then dirty flashed a nightly. BUT.... after a factory reset, flash OOS, flash LOS - all clean, the issue remained. I really think that this started and traces to a Google Play Services update in early June that somehow creates a bug when dirty flashing.
I wish Google would get their act together because I think this is all Oreo-related, but presents itself most starkly on devices that have weak antennae (like OnePlus).
When deploying this fix, I've noticed that the AGPS data doesn't survive a reboot and needs to be refreshed. I still need 3rd party apps like GPS status, but once refreshed and locked, it stays solid all day (provided I'm outside). GPS works, but I still have to fuss with it, almost daily.
As I noted in my OP, - I'm not sure the Magisk module or the TWRP processes do this, but it's critical to set the replaced gps.conf file with -644 / -rw -r -r permissions, or it won't work.

I checked and no. All config files have 644 as a system file. You can change it but it doesn't matter (this file needs only to be read btw)
Other notice : before reading all your OP, I checked and I didn't find a gps.conf in my /system/etc (it was its place, but with new Android version et vendor space, I guess they moved it)
Are you sure is it necessary with Oreo ?

Sorry, I had it correct in my OP and just edited my error in Post #10 - it's -644 -rw -r -r.
In LOS, the file is placed in /system/vendor/etc. I don't know if that is Oreo-only or not, but a previously used directory was /system/etc.
To be safe, I replaced it in both directories.

Oreo ROMs read the gps.conf file from the vendor partition (/system/vendor/etc or /vendor/etc, depending on Treble implementation). There is no need to replace/place it in the /system/etc partition.
Update regarding all comments, thx all for your work [emoji106]

No treble support for now. And ntp server for EU
You can change it by editing gps.conf

I'm seeing NO improvement establishing GPS lock on the 23 Jul LOS build with new gps.conf file. In fact, acquiring lock takes longer.
I still require the assistance of a 3rd party app. I can't get GPS lock WITHOUT activating a 3rd party app first. I can re-establish lock quickly for a few hours but as time goes on, it takes longer.
I can't establish lock in an already moving vehicle. I have to establish lock, stationary, in the open air.
The one difference between the 23 JUL file and the one I was using, is that it uses general ntp servers, rather than the ones for my region. Using regional servers wasn't perfect, but definitely better.
I have no proof but I still think the root of this problem is in Google Play Services.
Buffing up the gps.conf file "helps", but doesn't fix the problem on my OP5.
GPS is one of those functions that should just work on a modern smartphone. I have a Sony Xperia Z3. It is unrooted and stuck on MM. No problem with GPS.

No improvement between this mod and the commit, but it's a good point for everyone.
My point of view : if it works on OOS and not on other ROM... : Blobs and proprietary codes (drivers?)
I hope treble will fix this mess, just be patient.
During this time, like you said, I keep GPS Status to play Pokemon go and Google services do the job to have a position.
It sux, that's all :/

I'm not convinced that it does work on OOS any better than custom ROMs. A review of the OnePlus(.com) forums reveals many complaints about GPS which each successive update. I grant that for unknown reasons, this problem does not affect all OP5s, no matter which ROM is loaded.

This worked, but after reboot, it didnt work anymore...
Has anyone tried the hardware fix proposed in the OnePlus Community Forum? (I can't post the link here, because new XDA users can't post links...Just google "Oneplus 5 GPS fix?")
I did and after accidentially I broke one of the connecting GPS antenna prongs and replaced it with a aluminum foil ball my GPS is now working perfect!

help me with Google pay

Reason I bought this phone was for use of nfc,
Unfortunately bought a Chinese version running global miui 10, bootloader unlocked
I've flashed havoc and magisk I've passed safety net but unable to get Google pay working (uk)
You have to delete Google Play Services folder from /data/data in TWRP file manager.
Found it Gms
Thank you Google pay now. Working
worked fine until star of march... Still no luck for me on latest xaiomi.eu with magisk 18.1 and all hide like your pic
nvm, worked after adding all exclusion and removing google.gms in twrp manager
Disable telephone permissions for google play services. clear data of google pay app and register again. This trick working in india.
Beta version of magisk 19 solved that issue for me.

Google Pay asks for that permission if disabled... Not working in France.
Any other idea? (currently with MIUI 10.4, xiaomi.eu 9.4.28, Magisk 19.0 and Magisk Manager 7.1.1)
The only filesystem modifications on the phone are Magisk and AdAway.
BTW, can you give me the full path to delete in /data/data?
After erasure of all Google play services data thanks to MIUI UI (550MB), Google Pay still does not work.
Thanks!

Not working to me... After erase of all Google play services data , Google Pay still does not work.
In TWRP, delete /data/data/com.google.android.gms and activate your credit card in Google Pay app.
For me it is working now!
Good luck [emoji1696]

Confirmation! Google pay apk has finally accepted my card. Will update when I test it in store.
Update:
Works! Payed today with my phone!
wow thank you, i guessed it was impossible to make it possible with custom rom and magisk after reading some topics, i just managed to add my card and will try to pay tomorrow
After a new firmware update MIUI EU 9.5.9, it does not work anymore...
Has someone found a more reliable way to have it working?
