So I did a dirty flash to the 9.10.17 from 9.10.10, I made sure to wipe the dalvik cache and cache prior to installing the new rom and proceeded to installing the rom after that I tried booting into system and now it just goes back to TWRP. Any advice why it's doing this and how I could fix this without a system wipe?
Thanks.
Bye.

Hi. I'm new at using custom rom and I have a question regarding updates.
I'd successfully flashed my milestone to miui 1.9.9 rom. So if I'll like to update it to 1.9.16, do I still need to do wipes like what I did when I 1st flashed it? Or do I just apply update?
Thanks

Techincally all you need to do is wipe cache partition and dalvik cache before and after flashing (don't forget flashing the baseband as well!). If you have problems, try a full wipe.

Thanks So doing a wipe on the cache partition and dalvik cache, am I correct to say I don't need to do a titanium backup?

No, you shouldn't have to do a backup. Create one just in case anything goes wrong, or you need to do a full wipe.

I think you try to flash again, after install Rom you must be wipe data and factory reset, of course you wait in botanimation because it installing, someone think it big problem when see botanimation loop.
It worked!

I messed up my WiFi somehow and a factory reset doesn't fix it.
Is there anyway to wipe absolutely everything but my recovery and a ROM/Gapps to flash?

you either put it there while you booted into your current rom. or you sideload it using adb commands or all in one toolkit from bootloader
Because I am a Chinese boy, so my English is not very good. I hope you can forgive
My device is Google NEXUS6 ,can use the CM12, mokee, chroma, but use Blisspop,My device Infinite loop or crash in the second screen.
Tried many times to recover the official ROM,but still the same.
Very, very fond of blisspop ROM,I hope you can help me,Thank you !
Which gapps are you using? Have you tried flashing just bliss pop, boot into ROM, then go back into recovery and flash gapps?

As mainland China can not use Google, so I did not flash gapps.
My steps are:
1. Restore official factory firmware (5.0 or 5.1)
2. NRT 2.4 Get ROOT
3. Obtain REC
4.flash Blisspop Rom
5.wipe data / factory reset, wipe cache partition
why continue using blisspop ?? just use a different rom.. a lot of roms is out there
Your bootloader is unlocked right?

Currently only see Blisspop Rom has Floating window function
I'm too used to this feature.
Deeply fascinated by it
Next time you flash the ROM, wipe dalvik, and cache before you reboot the device into the system and see if that helps

Yes but if u wipe AFTER flashing, this will always happen, what u need to do is this,
Download rom
Boot to recovery,
Wipe system, data, cache, dalvik cache
Flash rom
Boot
That's it, don't wipe after flashing

Please forgive my English is not very good, so you may not be able to fully understand your meaning.
I tried Wipe system, data, cache, dalvik cache
And then Flash rom
But it is still a problem.
But you say——“don't wipe after flashing”?

Hello everyone.
Lately I had this frustrating problem with formatting the cache through any recovery I ever had. ALWAYS!
How flashing a ROM goes:
- I'm powering off the phone and enter in recovery.
- I select Wipe Data/Cache (Or Wipe for a new ROM option in CWM)
- It starts by formatting data and next is cache, where I get stuck.
I don't have many options. I can either pull out the battery or wait a while. Oh, no worries, after 5 minutes of "formatting cache" it reboots, with the current ROM messed, obviously.
It's annoying because no one seems to have this problem and it happens every single time when I wipe.
Hope there is someone who will bother helping me out with this.
P.S. - I'm no expert, more like a noob, so don't ask me too-technical questions.
Thankiees!
switch to latest TWRP
flash stock om once with odin
wipe data and cache with stock recovery once
then install latest TWRP
that fixed it for me when i had that issue
