Hi guys, anyone experienced this problem where after coming from xiaomi.eu rom (9.3.28), there is a bootloop in the setup screen? I tried flashing the firmware+vendor for a lower version but still the same. Thanks!
What rom are you trying to flash, and are you flashing the proper firmware + vendor?

I'm trying to flash Havoc and using the 9.3.14 firmware in the post. Tried the others as well like pixelexperience and aosip but same thing.
Did you wipe everything? Try to:
1. Flash MIUI PIE 9.3.14 XIAOMI.EU DON'T REBOOT
2. Flash Disable_Dm-Verity_ForceEncrypt DON'T REBOOT
3. Wipe Data,System,Cache Your Data will be lost
4. Flash HavocRom + Gapps
5. Reboot and Enjoy

Yup, I was.
Finally got it working after playing around and deleting the lockscreen files. It was somehow screwing up the boot.
Thanks guys!

OK you want to use the original OxygenOS 9.0.4?
Then go this way (all your data will be lost!):
1. in TWRP (3.3.1.0) delete all partitions (Dalvik, Cache, System, Data,...)
2. reboot into TWRP
3. format Data in Wipe - Format Data - type YES
4. reboot into TWRP
5. connect your phone with your computer and install full OxygenOS 9.0.4 zip (download from OP page)
6. reboot into TWRP and install magisk, if you want to keep TWRP. Else reboot into system
First boot takes 5-10 Minutes.
Thanks sir i will try and inform you if it work i will be thanks ful

Is there any method i can download miui cloud message, call history backup without install miui rom
After a long time I was finally able to unlock my Redmi Note 7.
I realized that flashing and other things on this device are a little bit more complex than on other devices I have had in the past.
Therefore I want to know what are the do's and dont's of this device and maybe make a comprehensive list so that everyone can avoid BRICKING or running into trouble while messing around with their phone.
I have seen things such as:
- never wipe system (which i'm not sure is true btw)
- dm-verity and vbmeta stuff (when to do it and what is it for? - some do it, some don't... which is confusing)
etc.
As you can tell I'm a newbie with this device.
Would be cool if you guys could give some input in order to create a comprehensive list.
Thanks!
Yeah Same thing here !!!
I've been using this phone for a month, i'm not an expert but if it can help around.
-Most custom ROM have they steps to flash and are usually the same for a clean flash (Wipe Cache, Dalvik/Art Cache, Data and System)
-If the custom ROM need it you will need to flash Vbmeta, usually the most ROM already have it inside, and a few have it as an external zip, this is only needed "once" you are coming from MIUI to a custom ROM, otherwise you don't.
-Other custom ROM will ask you to flash global firmware and that's just a 60MB zip that you will found in the ROM links usually, as I said most of the Custom ROM post have their steps.
-Dm-verity is something i haven't had to face as a problem so far so can't help abot that, but following the steps have never cause me any trouble.
What to do?
-First read the post of the Custom ROM including their answers, as it always help before flashing something because you will read if it have any kind of problem or etc from users feed back, and of course the OP info.
-Always have a backup of your stock ROM and personal data to avoid any lost.
-The break-the-glass solution in case of any problem will be always to know which version of phone do you have and have a Fastboot ROM for emergencies or if you are returning to MIUI stock, and the MIFlashTool from MIUI site.
-Always clean flash when you are going to another rom.
What not to do:
-Wiping and formating things you don't know what are you messing with, eg. Vendor partition.
-Never do a dirty flash over another custom ROM or stock, only do dirty flash in the same ROM type if the Dev says is possible to "update" that rom with that method, otherwise do a clean flash.
-Never flash another MIUI ROM that's not your type (China, Global, EEA, Rus, etc) with the MIFlashTool.
-Never flash or use the MIUI Tool with low battery
This might be the common and global things that always someone can tell you, if not the much but i hope it might help
never wipe system, unless you're planning to install another rom after that.
/system is where your OS (ROM) is located, wiping it is wiping your OS from your phone.
IDK much about disable DM-v and vbmeta, all I know is we need these two for disabling android's verified boot, secure boot thingy from google. yay.
AFAIK, we have 3 ways to disable DM-V
Using ofox, open settings > ota > mark on 'disable dm-v' before flashing ROM
by flashing disable dmv zip
by flashing magisk because it's included in magisk.
just do one of them but you can do all three, it doesn't really matter.
and vbmeta is needed only if you're on MIUI and about to flash AOSP rom.
but lately most custom AOSP already zipped with vbmeta so you don't need to worry about that.
here's how I flash ROMs
format data,
reboot recovery,
wipe cache, dalvik, system, data, internal,
flash firmware
flash ROM
flash gapps (optional)
flash kernel (optional)
flash magisk
reboot
hope this helps.
Wipe system if you are installing another rom otherwise you will end in bootloop because there is no system to boot.
Get a latest flashable firmware for your Note7 and place it in your mobile in case you get bootloop.
Install Recovery have every thing always backup.
Use Titanium backup for your apps even system apps should be backedup if you are going to modified system apps or delete them .
I just got the device 2 hours ago already making an optimized/rooted/debloated stock rom for it .

Ohh didn't know. Thanks for letting it me know.
I only flashed, until now, RR and AEX. Now I'm back on Xiaomi.eu ROM But never had any problem.
Code:
/*
* Your warranty is now void.
* I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed.
* Please do some research if you have any concerns.
* YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
* you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
*/
A guide to flash MIUI OTA/Stock/Any MIUI based rom from recovery without any bootloops or bricking device.
First things first, if you haven't done any modifications to your device (not even unlocked bootloader), then this guide is probably not for you. Just update via the Updater app. If you want to unlock bootloader and root read this guide first then come back.
Now if you have unlocked bootloader with TWRP installed and encrypted device then you can flash full ROM from TWRP without any issues.
Staying on an encrypted device is recommend for better security.
To check if your device is encrypted or not go to Phone Settings > Passwords & security > Privacy > Encryption & credentials > check if it shows encrypted or not.
To decrypt your internal storage (Not recommended):
Make sure you have a backup of your data copied in PC.
- In TWRP go to Wipe and select Format Data(don't go to advanced). Type yes and format data. [This process will format all your data so make sure your data is backed up].
- Go back to TWRP home and Reboot > Recovery.
- Reboot > System.
Now if you check again in Phone settings it'll show "Phone not encrypted".
If you have a decrypted device and want to flash MIUI rom or OTA through recovery you'll face bootloop.
Then there are two solutions to overcome this issue:
1. After flashing full MIUI rom through TWRP you need to format data again. But you will have to backup your data to PC everytime as your internal will be formatted. And then you would have to go through the hassle of setting up your phone which takes atleast 15 mins.
2. A better solution is to use another recovery like OrangeFox recovery. It has a special MIUI OTA support. So you can flash MIUI OTA and any MIUI based rom from recovery without bootloop, formatting data or bricking device in any way.
Here's how to use OrangeFox recovery:
Make sure you have a backup of your data copied in PC.
These steps work for both encrypted and non-encrypted devices
- Download the stock MIUI Recovery ROM for your region or any other MIUI based custom rom of your choice, and copy it to your phone’s storage.
- Download the OrangeFox recovery zip from here.
- If you don't have any recovery installed right now then extract the recovery.img file from the zip and follow the "Flashing TWRP" steps from here
- If you already have TWRP then go to Install > flash zip normally. Your device will boot into OrangeFox recovery automatically in 5 seconds.
- Go to the Menu > tap on OrangeFox settings icon in top right corner, and enable these under MIUI OTA settings :
1. Support MIUI incremental OTA
2. Include system in OTA survival
3. Incremental OTA signature verification
4. Prevent auto reboot after installing OTA
5. Disable DM-Verity
6. Disable Forced Encryption (Don't enable this if you have an encrypted device already and want to stay encrypted)
7. Aggressive stock recovery deactivation
- Now go to the “Wipe” menu :
1. If already on a MIUI based rom and flashing your current MIUI rom zip then select data, cache, and dalvik.
2. If coming from a non MIUI based rom to MIUI based one or if switching from current MIUI based rom to completely different MIUI based one then select data, cache, dalvik, system, vendor.
- Now go to "Install" and flash your MIUI ROM. (This is just a one time process.)
- After the ROM is flashed, OrangeFox will start the "OTA_BAK" process, which will backup your system and boot partitions into the /sdcard/Fox/OTA directory. You must NOT delete any of the files in the /sdcard/Fox/OTA directory. If you do, then incremental OTA updates will most definitely fail.
- Reboot > system.
Now when MIUI notifies you that there is an update:
- Download the update, using the MIUI updater app/official website.
- If on an encrypted device allow it to reboot automatically to OrangeFox. If decrypted, boot to recovery manually and under miui OTA settings enable the Disable Forced Encryption option first and then flash OTA from recovery.
- OrangeFox will install the update automatically (this might take several minutes).
- Your phone will reboot automatically upon completion of the installation of the MIUI OTA update (If it doesn't then reboot manually).
- After this, you will not need to flash a full rom any more.
- Enjoy your updated MIUI

Hi,

Well the only reason I didn't mention willow is I'm not sure if orangefox supports willow or not... although I think willow support was added after 10.1 stable version and it's the same file as of ginkgo....
Yes you need to backup your internal storage and every app as you will lose all data/apps/internal storage files.

Yes you can root eu.. yes it'll also work in encrypted devices but under miui ota settings don't check disable encryption option so that you can still have an encrypted internal.. Yes you need to flash your current miui recovery rom once you flash orangefox. It's just a one time process for your current rom. Just wipe data, cache, dalvik nothing else.

Are you booting into MIUI at least once after flashing it, before flashing anything else?
I've stopped doing the mount/unmount. I now always reboot back into TWRP after formatting data, seems more reliable.
In TWRP do a factory reset, then format data, then reboot back into TWRP.
After this install the ROM you want

If you want to flash something else, remove lockscreen security first before flashing. This should allow you to dirty flash an update, or clean flash a new ROM, without problems. You only need to format data when flashing over MIUI.
If you get into problems and you cannot successfully get a custom ROM working, this is when you need to flash MIUI first.
You only need to flash vendor/firmware files when the custom ROM recommends/requires a version that is different to what you currently have.

The emoji's screwed up my reply. Try again.
1. Next time create a new post, don't resurrect a vaguely similar old post.
2. Restore MIUI with a fastboot ROM and try again. Use my guide here to help you install the ROM of choice.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/k20-pro/how-to/simple-guide-flipkart-owners-t4151007/post83329343
If you're not sure what you're doing, follow the guide exactly, do not freestyle.
1.Install any rom
2. In recovery factory reset or change data partition to ext2 and then again back to ext4
Reboot
It will boot.

Hi, I am new to K20 Pro, I have not unlocked my phone yet, I was just going through the forum, to understand all the things and how flashing is done in K20 Pro, I have a question about flashing the vendor, some ROM require it & some don’t, can anyone explain? And how do I choose the correct vendor for my device?? Where can I download the right vendor??
Thanks!

When flashing you will actually need vendor and firmware files together.
These are taken from the official MIUI fastboot ROMs. You can find them repackaged in a single flashable zip file from here.
https://downloads.akhilnarang.dev/MIUI/raphael/
Flashing one of these files in TWRP is the easiest way to go.
You can also find then repackaged as separate zip files from here
https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/
This site has a much greater archive, so is good if you need an older version that you can't find in the other site. You will need to make sure you download vendor and firmware files for the same version.
You should always stick to the version that is for the region of your phone. e.g. Indian vendor and firmware for an Indian K20 Pro, etc.
Some ROMs use an OSS vendor and so this is included as part of the ROM install. In which case there is no need to flash the MIUI vendor.
When a new version of MIUI is released, vendor and firmware files might get updated, to fix a bug or to add extra functionality. In this case some custom ROM devs will include them so that they get the bug fixes or extra functionality in their ROM too. When this happens they will update the minimum vendor and firmware version requirements for their custom ROM - the version will be the actual MIUI version in which the vendor and firmware files were updated.
Where a ROM doesn't specify vendor and firmware and doesn't have an OSS vendor, then it normally implies that any version will work that is from MIUI based on the same Android version. In this case use the most recent version, which you will already have if you've kept up to date with MIUI updates.
When installing a new ROM, you will only need to flash vendor and firmware files if your current version is less than the required version of the new ROM.
