This has occurred on both MIUI 10 and 11, stock firmware. The 2 scenarios are:
1. Recipients are receiving the same SMS twice.
2. Recipients received jumbled text, for instance:
Message 1 sent earlier that day: ABC DEF GHI
Message 2 sent now: 123 456 789
Message 1 received earlier that day: ABC DEF GHI
Message 2 received at the current time: 123ABCDEF 456 789
This is less common on the stock Messages app, but still happens. My preferred app is Google Messages (all permissions and battery settings off).
Has anyone experienced this or have a solution?
Happening on stock app as well, so it's the software. Bootloeader is still locked :/

I recall getting this issue if messages were over the 1 message size and spilt into 2 or 3 messages.
Never found a reason or way around it other than using WhatsApp etc

I noticed today that the SMS Messaging app displays the word Sent and a time for text messages that have been received rather than sent. Is it just my Nexus One (FRF91) that is having a brain fart or do other see the same issue ?
It's telling you when the message was sent to you. It's working fine.
So a message that my phone has received is marked sent because someone sent it to me ? Android 2.1 marked it as received ?
I think it's a regression. It should say "Sent" for your messages and "Received" for your contacts' messages.
Also, when I get a SMS notification and select it from the notification bar it takes me to the list of SMS threads rather than the specific thread for the contact who just messaged me. I'm pretty sure this wasn't the behavior for Eclair and is another regression or a horrible UI decision.

It is telling you what time the message was sent to you. I do agree that it should say Received but it's not a bug.

That has happened to me a couple times. I have always noticed, thankfully, before sending a text. Except for once when I accidentally texted one of my boys with a <3. lol
I have a rooted i896 running Cognition v2.3b6. Now by default, when I used the sms app, the time listed for text messages that i receive are 5 hours in the past (at 945pm i received an sms, but the time listed under the text was 445). Because when I my text messages that are sent with the proper time, so in the text message thread my text messages are always first and my recipients texts appear always before in the thread.
I what I didnt was I changed my time zone to account for the 5 hour gap.
So after I did this, most of the text message appear in order except for messages that are sent/received in the same minute. For texts send during the same minute, my sent always appear after even if it is sent before.
I read on these forums that this is a problem with time stamping of the text from the carrier or something, but there was not explanation on how to fix this.
Is anyone else having this problem and found out a way to fix it?

You can download an app called "Sms Time Fix" and put it to adjust by 5 hours. You can also download "Handcent" or another 3rd party messaging app and the time will be correct.
I had a very similar problem. After i got my phone unbricked and loaded the latest version of cognition onto the phone the timestanps were five hours off. I am now using handcent and have no probles whatsoever with the timestamps.
Don't forget to go into tibu and "freeze" your original sms program that came stock with the phone.

Messaging won't send 2 pages plus whenever I forward a message there is no "FWD:" in front of it. Anyone else experience this?

What app are you using to send sms?
I've tried both handcent and stock messaging, neither work. I had the same problem with cyanogen. My friend's hero has the same problem.

Im having trouble sending a text message that is greater than 160 characters too. I am using Aosp 2.2, latest one.
I'm surprised we're the only ones having this problem, although most people don't send sms messages over 160. I on the occasion do, so it's a necessity. I recall 2.1 being able to do it.

To send messages over 160 character, you will have to use a SMS app such as Chomp or Handcent to split up the message(s).
@ stayclean
I've tried several SMS applications, including CHOMP, Handcent, Go SMS, and stock. All show that you are going beyond the two page limit, but once you exceed it says send failed.

With Handcent, did you set it to split after 160? If not, you have to go into Settings > Send message settings > Split 160 > Simple Split.
I know this may be a dumb question but my phone is zippy fast except for messaging. I have lag fix and am using ultimate droid. Is having about 4500 sms and some mms causing the slowdown in messaging or am i missing something? Thanks

Yes this is the exact reason why. It's about time to delete your messages and start over. You can also set message limits in the message settings.
I set mine to:
Text message limit - 500 messages per conversation
Multimedia message limit - 20 messages per conversation
And usually this works perfectly for me. No lag at all when entering the message app.

I have mine set to 450 for text and 20 for MMS. And i only have lag since copying my messages over to 2.2. I had no problem on 2.1 with the exact same number of messages.
I have a T-Mobile Note 9 and recently updated to pie with the official OTA file. Ever since I've updated, all my messages don't send right away. On regular text messaging, I've been getting texts hours late and sometimes my messages are being delivered late (even though on my end it's sent). Especially on group texting. It's happening on Telegram also, where my messages don't seem to go through and I have to force close the application and open it again. But the worst problem is with the WhatsApp messages. 50% of the time, I will send a message and it just shows one tick mark (not delivered). And I've tested this with many contacts, even another phone I have at home. Eventually after a while, the messages will show two ticks. Usually , if I initiate a WhatsApp call then the messages will change to two tick marks right away.
Has anyone else had problems with sending messages after the pie update? I think it's weird that it's happening across apps.
Thank you in advance!
