There's no cons to rooting whatsoever, provided the user reads and follows the rooting guide in the Dev section. It's easy and trouble-free. There's been but a single instance (Angelom's ICS kernel combined with touch-recovery) of mass bricking. That kernel is out of circulation now, so nothing to fear there.
All other 'plz help, bricked' threads are created by the people who were careless and didn't read, period.

Battery life depends on what user does with their phone, IMO. If one keeps all syncing, GPS, data and whatnot on all the time, their battery will be shot on any phone.

No reason I can think of apart from bragging about benchmark results.
wow duude!
Cheers like, your reply was just great!
Yeh! I just stick to Dr. Ketans guide to rootin as tis easy to understand and great. Others have so much updates and editin it becomes hard to keep track as my net provider is messed up... i get only 5-6 kbps
Should i actually get a custom rom, or its no use as the stock rom and ics is coming up.
Is gnote actually worth it or should i get some other phone ( N.B. i am getting the phone imported and i wont have warranty applicable after shipping it out of europe... and the sending faulty phones back from here is risky as it hardly makes it through due to customs.
I also had some hard time thinking about buying SGN. Now I have it for 2 weeks running on stock ROM (I don't have time now for rooting $ stuff...) and I don't have any problem at all.
My advise - Go For It!

If you follow the exact method described in the Dr. Ketans guide thread there's no risk of bricking.
At present you cannot find a power house like this in the market... Even you can make this device much more powerful upto 1.7 ghz speed... Nothing can beat this at the moment (as per my knowledge) So if you want power house like this, there's no other option than buying this beast. Definitely it worth it.
Regarding custom rom... Its good but if you wanna feel like this device is made exactly for you.. Go for a custom rom.. Its lots of fun and excitement.. You can make this to work which ever way up want..
Buy it.. And make others envy..
One thing I will say, get a case for it straight away. The placement of the power/volume buttons make it a hard phone to use "naked". I got a rubber bumper case and used box cutters to take out the notches where the buttons are, to make them recessed to allow me to hold the phone how I prefer. Makes the whole experience much more comfy especially for gaming.
P.S. Overclocking reduces the lifespan of any device. You're trading lifespan for speed. If anything I would underclock it to give it better thermal control.
Guys did you know what is the best retail price to buy a GNote and the site
Hi, i would buy today a Razr i. I'm a flashaholic, i read that for intel cpu is hard to develop. I flash custom roms weekly.
I chose it because it has a good performance in small dimensions. My expectations is a small and fast device.
Would you guys recommend to buy a phone like that?
THX.

Thank you guys. I bought one yesterday. I had to solve the battery draining issue like in this video: http://youtu.be/lgGDxZstgm0
But after that everything seems good now.
I would say no. There are plenty of phones with way more dev support.

If you are a flasher, well, no :/
I use to be a flasher with a galaxy ace, so i buy this phone, but because the unique processor, theres not to much development :/
But the phone with stock its awesome, even i feel it more fast and powerfull than a S3 or Xperia Z, i have both phones
And the battery amazing!

It depends.
If you're a flashalcoholic because you want the best of your phone in a fully customized way I'd say yes maybe: stock is already very well made and there's a few great mod/rom to improve it. Theming is certainly not on a CM rom level, but still there's a few mods.
If you're a flashalcoholic for the sake of geeking with your phone and try new stuff very often the answer is no. As previously said, development is quite confidential, and the risks of bricking this phone is also quite high (for noobs like me may I add; I miss my old Xperia easy panic restore).
Otherwise the phone itself is awesome if it fits your needs: well built, compact, great performance and battery life, I'd would not trade it for any other phone.
I used to flash like crazy on my older phones and got this because I knew it would be less possible to do so. That said, I have still found plenty to play with and enough development exists to play around on weekends without modifying something every night.
Aside from that - best form factor for me in terms of size/battery life compared to any other phone I've picked up.
Thank you guys for your reply. :highfive:
Hi, I'm totaly new to Xperia ZR and so I heard about antutu results checking how good phone is. I installed it and got 25539 points result but there were some scale that showed phones going well over 30000...I know my phone can't get there but is the result I got good or bad.
Also I appologize if I asked something stupid but as I said I'm new and just want to learn.

its a good score for stock ZR. if you want more performance you must root n deodex the rom and uninstall useless apps. that makes phone much faster.
If you unlock bootloader and install custom kernel n rom, phone might touch 30000+ score.
My girlfriend is on a budget and for the money this looked like the best phone I could suggest her to buy.
Since she is not very into modding phones, my question is: I have no problem modding it, but once i will have modded the phone with international rom, will it have any prpblems, bugs, unwanted reboots, force closed app, or strange error messages?
Can someone that isn't into modding use this phone with no trouble after is set up?
Thanks , for your help
All i can say is stick to stock miui and it will be fine with regular updates. The only thing is installing gapps; u can do it for her. Btw, if ur gf loves to take selfies, mi5 cameras are rly gud
Hi! I've been googling from time to time during one month now and found no answer to my problem.
I was messing with a phone my mother bought (she was scammed btw) this is a chinese knock-off of a Mate 20 pro... the phone even has the logo, but of course... it is not, and it has a Mediatek MT6580 processor and 2GB of RAM, it does come with a fingerprint sensor though!.
Well, the phone was a complete garbage, I couldn't even message without freezing due to overloading. So I decided to "help my mom" and went for the good ol' DIY phone modding/bricking. So now its broken.
------------- IF YOU JUST WANNA KNOW WHAT I NEED READ FROM HERE --------------
I need to know if there is a way to recover the phone, I have SP Flash tool and I'm able to flash ROM's into it, but I haven't found a suitable ROM just yet. I've downloaded lots of ROM's but only one I was able to actually flash, BUT it doesn't work, it boots, and starts but touch screen nor physical buttons work. So... Any suggestions?
Thank you very much in advance to all of you who feel sympathy for this broken morale son of a good mother.
