Global or Xiaomi EU stable rom ? - Redmi K20 Pro / Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro Questions & Answe

i have ordered the device and it will arrive with the global installed rom but i was wondering if anyone has tried the Xiaomi EU stable release MIUI 11 what were the main differences ?
is it better ?
they mention quite a lot of tweaks with their rom here
https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/miui-11-0-stable-release.52628/

I use EU weekly and it's the best for me

so you're saying I can use EU 9t pro version on k20 pro?

Yes u can install xiaomi.eu on K20pro or mi9t pro all the same

does the OTA updates work properly all the time , i am thinking going with stable release
what are the main differences between the xiaomi.eu with global or the EEA firmware
updates should come earlier right than global/EEA firmwares

tested xiaomi. eu miui 11. it has som bugs. returned for global stable

stable one

I got my phone with Global but oh boy... such a huge pile of crap. I'm struggling daily as applications are being sent to deep sleep, notifications are not coming for multiple app, notifications are not being displayed on the always on display.
I got into problems in my life not seeing messages in time. And Yes, I know you have to give permission to the apps but still it is not working.
I will try the EU rom, if not, i will try 1 custom rom they say is the best then I sell the phone.
So far huge disappointment for me.

notifications on global are way better than on xiaomi.eu. thats why a returned for global

explain why , you are not giving any explanaition
maybe you didnt had something enabled

no floating notification on messanger on xiaomi eu. when i back to global it worked

update. same issue on miui11 on india rom. so my assumption is that china stable have this issue too. that's why xiaomi. eu have it. only global and eu rom which are miui10 have not this issue.
edit2
i have tested it on redmi note 5 with miui 11. same issue
so affected are all miui 11 roms
Wysłane z mojego Redmi Note 5 przy użyciu Tapatalka

Notification issues have been there in MIUI for a long time now....but on both stock and Xiaomi.eu roms can usually be resolved by doing the following
1) View Info page for an app
- Battery Saver, Choose "No restrictions"
- Notifications, Enable Floating and Lock screen notifications
2)Settings>Display>Status Bar
- Enable "Show Notification Icons"
Changed these settings on my Mi 9T Pro and it resolved the missing notifications on borh Global and Xiaomi.eu roms

I was going to open a new thread but might as well comment on this one.
Just got my 9T pro two days ago and went straight to apply for bootloader unlock.
While waiting, I have been doing some research and I really cannot find a reason for going with xiaomi.eu rom.
On my previous phone, that was my go-to ROM and I never encountered an issue, even though I was on beta branch and flashing (almost) weekly.
However, right now, I cannot find any upside for flashing this rom so I might stay on Global.
- Battery seems to last very long time
- No need to risk bricking the device - theres always a chance, even though small, of bricking your device or just voiding your warranty.
- I have been uninstalling stock bloatware with this: https://szaki.github.io/XiaomiADBFastbootTools/
- Android patch leven seems up to date.
- Xiaomi.eu has trouble making google asistant to work - that's stated on their forums and is something far from getting fixed.
I mean, xiaomi.eu is a great rom, sure, but if you are not looking for rooting or magisk or things like that, I would just stay on global - at least as long as you keep getting regular updates.
Up until now, both me and my wife had a xiaomi mi5s - she kept it on global and I kept flashing weekly xiaomi.eu and I must say, there's no difference at all and after a couple of years, both devices have simmilar battery times - only she didn't spend hours after flashing over months.
The only thing that is pushing me towards xiaomi.eu is that my global ROM seems stuck with MIUI 10 and I don't seem to be getting MIUI 11 (If anyone could help me with this, if there's any way to force the update, that would be noice ) - but other than that, I'm quite happy with GLOBAL, at least at the moment.

there is 2 types of global , one for europe and the other one for everything else
you can see if you have the european firmware in the device info somewhere in the middle should be EU instead of MI
i will stick with the Europe global which has nothing to do with xiaomi.eu
the european firmware is officially supported
try changing the region i think i saw video to force it to update to miui 11

how updates are delivered?

Hi! i am very new to the xiaomi community. i have just bought a pre-owned xiaomi mi 9.
it was shipped to me via POST mail, when i opened the phone it is a xiaomi mi 9 chinese version.
i am planning to flash either miui eu , miui global or revos. i just want to ask
how are the updates on these roms (miui eu, miui global, and revos) delivered? do i need to reflash every time? or i can just update just like a regular stock miui chinese rom? (a.k.a. by going to the settings and clicking the update button there and rebooting)
thank you.

Yes, you can update via settings normally on these roms (OTA), so no, you don't need to wipe and reflash everytime. :good:
Nonetheless it will always be better to clean install, as sometimes updating like this can cause slow downs / issues.

you and i have the same version (6gb ram / 128gb storage). i see that you are using the revos, have how is it? have you tried the miui eu? miui global? may you please give me your insights? thank you very much..
I have a same phone like you, and I've been using miui eu edition for months. You have to install updates(downloadable in settings) in the rec, but you don't need to wipe data, just cache/dalvik. So it's kinda convenient.

Question Can anyone share their experiences of Xiaomi.eu ROM vs Global ROM?

I own the Mi 11 with CN ROM and have been using it in North America. I'm thinking of flashing a different ROM to see if it will be a better experience. Has anyone in my situation flashed both the Global ROM and Xiaomi.eu ROM and can give an opinion on which is better overall? I'd be interested in things like speed, battery life, Play services compatability etc.
Thanks in advance!
It basically boils down to privacy vs latest updates.
Xiaomi will phone home as much as you let it, I think the EU rom is supposed to fix that but updates take a little longer.

Global is different to the Xiaomi EU one but many wrongly call the EU one global.
Xiaomi EU is based on the Chinese ROM.
Global is for outside China and has less features than Chinese and Xiaomi EU ROM.

I knew that the Global ROM (developed by Xiaomi) is meant for phones outside of China. I also understood that the Xiaomi.eu ROM is created by developers and is different (but based on) the Chinese stock ROM that shipped with the phone. I think you confused me by saying the "Chinese EU ROM" instead of "Xiaomi.eu" ROM which is what I usually see people say.
What I don't like about the Chinese stock ROM for Chinese users is that it doesn't seem to fully support all Google services and the implementation of Android 11 isn't complete (for example I don't see the Nearby Share feature).
What features does the Global ROM (created by Xiaomi for international users) lack that the Chinese ROM has? I think that as long as the Global ROM supports Google services fully I would be happy with it. If not then I guess I would flash the Xiaomi.eu ROM but it would be annoying to have to apply all updates manually.

Can't actually remember most of them but there was a few. A lot of the AI options like app pre loading etc
Xiaomi also confirmed the global Miui 12.5 update will be a "lite" version of the Chinese Miui so software will be more basic.
When I had the Mi 10 the EU version worked better than the global one with Google and notifications in general. Might of sorted that with next month's release.

Ok. Thanks for the info
I have CN ROM and had to tweak it like crazy to get rid of the China stuff and to get notifications to work. Turned off the battery saver for every app I needed notifications and enabled every option.
Now with EU ROM I didn't have to do anything like that, and have the google feed on the left. Everything is perfect with EU - well recommended.
Excuse me for jump in...I want to by Mi 11 Pro. I want Google Play, Google pay, banking aps, Netflix to work. Shell I stay on Chinese Rom or put Xiaomi.eu Rom? I am from Europe. Thanks!
Edit: Now I see it´s an old Topic :-/

I have already tried the latest stable MIUI14 from xiaomi.eu and it seemed quite alright
But I had one problem - which was rather annoying
I couldn't get my banking app to install properly. And I believe that is because the bootloader is unlocked. But my device was original CN, which I then flashed to xiaomi.eu (and locking the bootloader after that, is not recommended!)
So my question here is - if I install the Global ROM instead (which is xiaomi official, in contrary to the xiaomi.eu ROM), will I be able to lock the bootloader after flashing?

The EU ROM doesn't need to lock bootloader.
The EU ROM looks have a issue relate Google Backup.
Does anyone have the same issue?
New - Google Drive backup bug? Backup gone after reboot [updated]
[updated description below because it seems like backups dissappear after reboot] Not sure if this is from ROM or the Google Drive app. After a day or two my Google backup of my phone dissappears. Even though done successfully before and also shown in Google Drive, it dissappears after a day...
xiaomi.eu
One good reason to move to EU rom: it fixed stuff where China Rom doesn't!
For example, in China/Global ROM miui14.0.12 the AOD display will always turn itself off if it lay on a dark room for around 10 minutes. And turning off Bluetooth from android top down menu will turn off 24 hours only and not forever.
In Miui EU, this they fixed it by making it on always. Same goes to Bluetooth turning off when pressed from top drop down menu.
And many other translation jitter you can notice in China Rom if you were to restart your phone. For instance, calendar will show 1 second of Chinese before becoming english.

General Mi 11 Ultra EU 12.5.3 very happy

Hey,
So after being impressed for almost a year with the mi 10 ultra, I got myself the 11 Ultra yesterday. Bought in the Netherlands.
Immediately there was an update to 12.5.3 and installed and transfered everything.
After reading here I really thought I was gonna get the same hassle (bugs) and the need to install the EU custom ROM.
But after about 24 hours of use I noticed.
0 bugs
0 annoyances
The phone doesn't really get hot. Except maybe when I play league of legends on 120fps and 2k screen.
No notification bugs, battery seems decent. Camera amazing..
Anyone else just having a great experience? I don't think I see the need to flash the custom ROM.
I know the list of featured if the custom ROM seems long but I haven't noticed anything different from my 10 ultra custom EU rom.
hi this is how much i understand worth taking global eee rom mi 11 ultra or maybe better take mi 11pro?
I would take the mi 11 ultra over any phone.. and the global rom is pretty good
Original 12.5.3 EEA has some problems:
date on the rear display is shown as mm/dd even if the locale setting is dd/mm.
The date is correct in all the other parts of the UI (ex the lock screen)
Bluetooth smart unlock works only with Mi Bands. Doesn't work even with Mi Watch Lite and Xiaomi Handset Basic that I own.
Of course it doesn't work with any no-Xiaomi-made bluetooth devices (quite annoying indeed)
The Google dialer (the Xiaomi dialer is no longer available) has no call recording function.
Can't hide folders from the Gallery using the .nomedia file.
I got the mi 11 ultra 3 days ago and I'm on 12.0.5 . No new updates found .. even if I change my region to India for example no luck !
I'm in Germany. Any suggestions?

Love making selfies with the main camera using the little screen. Selfies look amazing like a whole different league from front facing selfies.
Also regular pictures I love how the look. So colorful.
The phone feels snappy fast and I haven't noticed any bugs. I have the feeling it works better than the custom EU rom i had on my.mi 10 ultra.
The only thing maybe is that the battery drains a bit faster but maybe it will still learn to work better and I do play a lot of league of legends wild rift at 2k so I guess it's normal

If your bootloader is unlocked, you can load the fastboot EEA (European version). Just download the Xiaomi MiFlash tool. There are plenty of YouTube videos describing the process. There is also the Xiaomi.EU rom, which is the China rom, minus the Chinese bloat and Google services added in. That is a TWRP install and that is also link on their website.
I don't recommend to install the Xiaomi eu rom as it is not optimized for mi 11 ultra, apps load slower and since it is based on chinese rom it has chinese themes (if you like ur writings in chinese go for it), battery life is more or less the same, if you need to root I still suggest unlock your bootloader, if coming from standard global, unlocking your bootloader will allow you to update to the EEA firmware which is already based on the 12.5.3

It is optimized as it virtually the same rom as the China rom, minus the bloat and Google services added in. There are features not available in the EEA rom that are in the China rom or the EU rom, such as, video recording using the rear display on 21.6.9 or the ability to record your calls, which is also not available on the EEA rom. These features are not available on the global rom either. So if you are a vlogger/content creator, the Xiaomi.eu rom is probably your best option.

Hi there,
Unlock Bootloader and go to EEA 12.5.3 or higher. 12.0.XX is a pretty basic Android 11 ROM but many people like it. EEA visually looks better and so far no issues.
I had for a moment Android 12 Beta 1 installed but has returned to 12.5.3 because camera apps was missing.

Same here on both 10 and 11 Ultra, no Chinese. Also, how is it not optimised for the 11 ultra when it is based on the stock Chinese 11 Ultra ROM? App loading time can be many of many reasons including your own apps you install from your own selection.
I have used the stock Chinese and Global ROMs on both Ultra's and my preference is for the EU custom ROM, I just think it has the best of all four available ROMs included and even as I use the weekly beta version, there has never been any show stoppers and any minor issues, as it is a beta version, get fixed quick. If you use a stable non EU version, you would have to wait for a few weeks to get it fixed and even longer with Global and EEA as their updates are packaged up in much fewer updates.
But it's everyone's own choice, but this is mine.
Guys whatsapp was loading ****ty slow, as well as tapatalk, I had 3 apps installed as personal, chinese themes lead to chinese characters, yes rom had some nice feature, but nothing I can't live without, both rom can be debloated and I find xiaomi eu full of useless stuff as well.

What's useless in Eu ROM ?
Lot of xiaomi services for example, I never understand why custom roms come with so much stuff preinstalled, they should leave just basic services and leave the user the ability to install the app and services they want. If they want to keep services and stuff they could still make different versions of the same rom

well you can have that experience (frequent updates) on your xiaomi by switching to xiaomi.eu weekly ROM
but surely not all of those monthly pixel updates were good? some of them had to have had annoying bugs which made the whole experience somewhat sour
stock phone hardware and software is so good now (for the most part) that there really is no need to update them so often (excluding the security patches)
just enjoy the phone as is - Mi 11 is blazing fast + feature rich and, at least I, find no need to have it updated regularly (especially after MIUI 12.5. update released recently)
the only feature I wish for on my Mi 11 is the option to choose 90Hz refresh rate in settings (without having to download 3rd party apps to do so)
120Hz is kinda overkill and just drains the battery much faster - 90Hz would be a happy medium between 60 and 120Hz on offer in MIUI

What is your Build Code ? 12.5.1.0.RKBEUXM ? or 12.5.1.0.RKBMIXM
If you have EUXM it's a EEE/EEA (European Version) and it's actually the lastest build.
If you have MIXM it's a Global (International Version) and actually 12.5.3.0 is the lastest build.
So depending yourRegion Code, you can download the Fastboot ROM and install local update easily.
My Mi 11 Claud White was EUSF (because an EU custom by my carrier) and i have unblock Bootloader (waiting 168 Hours - [1 week]) and migrate on MIXM Glabal International for have more recent update.
I have tried also Xiaomi.eu ROMS (Chinese ROMS custom / Translated) but thez have a lot of bugs (MMS don't work, Black Theme issues, Theme Manager in Chinese / Google Translate, Some Google Apps unstable like Phone)

Question Flash MIUI 14 EEA beta or stay on Xiaomi.eu ?

On one hand it looks like EEA has finally catched up with most of the missing features from Xiaomi.eu/China(see PS) and you're also getting Android 13, easy OTAs, ability to lock the bootloader and a whole bunch of optimization and new features from MIUI 14. And a bigger support community since it's the official ROM after all. And access to even more BETAs since Xiaomi.eu doesn't do betas on this device
On the other hand, all of this will come to xiaomi.eu when the stable's out anyway. And it will probably be even better than stock. And there still might be a few missing Chinese features that will never be added to EEA/Global.
It's really mixed for me tbh. What do you guys think ? What are you going to do ?
PS: I know there's no China ROM for 11T Pro, but Xiaomi.eu actually ports Chinese features even without the Chinese ROM.

Better time to stay on the Xiaomi EU rom and keep the advantages that do not exist on the stock (call recorder, Full themes, etc.).
On a stock beta version you can have bugs, sometimes not too serious or sometimes you will have to downgrade.
When it comes to stock ROM support, you will only get answers if you want to buy a new phone.
I had the 11 t pro but disappointed with the autonomy and I replaced it with a 12 pro which initially had less autonomy than the 11 t pro with A12 but A13 corrected this problem.

I'm getting around 6h SOT on my device...which I also think it's kinda mediocre. What about you ?
What if A13 fixes battery on 11T Pro as well.
AS for tech support, I guess the stock has a bigger community where I can find the issues easier. But the xiaomi.eu community is much nerdier, so it depends lol

My SOT is never the same, what I see is that since A13 I charge my phone less often and I've gone from 24 hours to 30/36 hours.
Many report the improvement in autonomy with A13.

On Xiaomi Eu rom you have to be precise and make a logcat for bugs.
Yes, but I'm getting older and contrary to most of this community, I don't like tinkering with my device that much anymore. I see that MIUI 14 introduces most of the features that I loved from xiaomi.eu and I'd love the comfort of OTAs, safety and no headaches due to having an unlocked bootloader and just generally, the ease of use of a stock device with no sort of tinkering whatsoever. And just easier back-ups. Also, I'd like having beta access to Xiaomi since xiaomi.eu has none for my device
Now, I'm wondering if flashing using the official xiaomi tool will just lock bootloader and fix/restore everything to stock.

Xiaomi eu has the play store certified without root and with the unlocked bootloader and updates via OTA.

Betas will still be based on the Global.
Betas are test roms to finalize the global stable.

Wait, isn't the beta based on EEA ? I look at the roms and beta was available only for EEA

Global or EEA same base except that the EEA includes restrictions following the European directives.

Hi, I had quite a nooby question, I have an Indian variant of 11T Pro which is running on its latest Indian variant of MIUI, can I relock my bootloader during flashing of EEA variant of MIUI or will that brick my device? Not sure if this the correct thread, I'm sorry if it isn't, didn't know where to ask this question. Thanks

On this device (VILI) you can re-lock the bootloader with any stock fastboot rom with Miflash.
