Model vs Software - BLU R1 HD Questions & Answers

I just bought a R0031UU (16GB OEM), but the custom build version says blu_R0011UU_V21_Generic and it's loaded with Amazon Bloatware.
Is this correct, or did I get a phone someone uploaded the wrong rom on?
Just a suggestion, but maybe post a sticky about how any R1 HD that's received OTA updates is unrootable. Did not realize that before I bought this phone.
Also, I'd appreciate any suggestions for a cheap (<$60 on eBay) Rootable Dual-SIM LTE phone with Quad-core cpu and >2gb Ram?

questions about availability and version

Hi, well I finally managed to mess up my HOX big time (I broke the wifi antenna ) but I am eligible for a new phone already. I have some questions though, since my HOX is kinda broken I need a phone fastish, do people actually already have the One or are there only pre-orders?
And which versions are there, I couldn't find a price for the 64 GB variant, does is exist or is it postponed and I read LTE is optional, I want an LTE ready phone what should I look for
64gb version isn't out yet. My guess is their gonna release it on the 2nd quarter.
For now it's only 32GB version seperated by different LTE bands. go to the HTC site for the breakdown of the bands to know what variant you should get.

Amazon N6 on T-Mobile

I should have my Nexus 6 from Amazon tomorrow evening. From what I can tell, what Amazon is selling is the generic US version that works on all US carriers.
I wasn't planning on buying a new phone, but my Note 2 took a dive off the table a week ago and landed on the tile floor, shattering the glass. The six inch screen, on the Nexus 6, coupled with the huge sale on Amazon made my decision for me I'll probably try to replace the glass on the note 2 later, so I can sell it. I never used the S-Pen. I bought the phone for the large screen.
I have read quite a bit on the forum, but haven't seen answers to my questions. It is possible that I missed something.
I am a bit confused about the listing of 5.1.1 ROMs on the Google site. They list a ROM that doesn't say who it is for, a ROM specifically for T-Mobile and a ROM for everyone but T-Mobile.
My carrier is T-Mobile. What exactly is the difference between the T-Mobile ROM and the others? If is is only WiFi calling, then I don't care, as I don't use it. If there is more to it, please elaborate.
When I get the phone, I'll note which ROM it has, then let it do an OTA update over WiFi to see what ROM it updates to. Once I put a T-Mobile SIM in the phone, will future OTA updates be the T-Mobile only version or the generic version?
Thanks.
Every rom works on this phone - but only SOME support WiFi calling (T-Mobile specific)
They should explicitly say whether they do or don't support WiFi calling (most don't)
If you don't care for this, use whatever you want. It will work just fine. You can use whatever rom you please.
Once it's using T-Mobile service you'll get only T-Mobile specific updates. If you're rooted or on a rom, OTAs won't happen - so don't expect that.
Just to follow up, the original Android version that was on my phone was 5.0, Build LNX07M. The following four OTA updates were applied via WiFi (no SIM yet).
5.01 Build LRX22C
5.1 Build LMY47D
5.1.1 Build LMY47Z
5.1.1 Build LMY48I
What I find curious is that the last update wasn't LMY48M, which seems to be the latest. Does anyone know what the difference between 48I and 48M is?
I really like this Nexus 6 so far. Although it is taller and wider than my Galaxy Note 2, it is much thinner and lighter. I love the extra 1/2 inch of screen and the higher resolution.
Tomorrow, I go to T-Mobile and swap my micro-SIM for a nano-SIM.
Thanks.

Note 8 256GB & Dual Sim?

Hi Guys
I'm looking for a dual sim phone but keep finding phones where the 2nd sim tray is also where the SD card is used, so I have to pick one or the other.
I've found this model of the Note 8 and am considering buying for use in Canada: https://www.eglobalcentral.com/samsung-galaxy-note-8-n9500-256gb-dual-sim-deepsea-blue.html
Can anyone confirm that this is definitely a dual sim phone as information on different sites are mixed?
Thanks!
Hi there, all the duos versions (dual sim) use the storage sim slot as a dual purpose - so yes, you will need to choose whether to install 256 GB external storage sim, or second carrier sim. However at 256GB of installed storage - does this really present an issue? Interesting website - thanks for the link. Not sure about that model number but they don't have 256GB duos in Orchid Grey.
Thanks for the reply.
The fact that the phone has 256GB internal storage means that the sim slots aren't an issue. I just wanted to check whether this version was dual sim as I'm looking for one phone to use a business and personal line on.
I prefer the look of the blue too, so I think I'll bite the bullet and go for this one.

I don't know if you noticed but that phone is the Snapdragon version... I like the price better than the one I just bought: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Samsung-Gal...var=572001194802&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 but this has Exynos and Orchid Grey and I don't want to wait any longer... LostinCanada,
I'm also waiting for the same seller to provide it , but I did not order it yet because once it is 28-29 September, this variant ( The hong kong 256gb dual sim ) will hit Hong kong markets and more sellers might sell it , may be with better prices.
But Please keep us updated once you get it.

Hasan

I had inquired with this seller & he said it is snapdragon version. As per me Exynos is 1.7GHz whereas snapdragon is 1.9Gz. Plz check again the specs.
If u check Note 8 in wikipedia it says Exynos: Octa-core (4×2.3 GHz M2 Mongoose & 4×1.7 GHz) Cortex-A53 (GTS)
Snapdragon: Octa-core (4×2.35 GHz & 4×1.9 GHz) Kryo.
The link u paste in ebay shows 1.9GHz. Means it is snapdragon.
OMG!!! Thank you for pointing this out! Grrrrrrr..... Now I don't know where I am going to buy this darn phone. I have requested a return. I am so glad I didn't find this out two weeks from now. If anyone knows where I can find a 256GB Note 8 Duos Exynos version (with unlocked bootloader) I would be grateful!

Are you sure that the original link I posted isn't for the Exynos version? I cannot find where it specifically states it but it looks like it may be the Korean version (256GB & Blue), which are Exynos?
I did send a message to ask but got a vague reply with a copy-paste from the product page, they clearly didn't have a clue what I had asked!

Thanks @maheshhtc. Now I am in an argument with the Ebay seller, who is claiming it is Exynos version. I tried calling Samsung but they only give information for the phone sold in the country you are in. I did find out from Samsung in Hong Kong that the "Hong Kong version" is actually Snapdragon: http://www.samsung.com/hk_en/support/model/SM-N9500ZVGTGY#downloads. On this site: https://www.techwalls.com/samsung-galaxy-note-8-sm-n950-model-number-differences/ I had referenced N950FD which is Exynos, but didn't notice the seller's ad that it says F950FD and I can't find any reference to this model online, except for within his ad.
So many variations of this phone! Is this an "undiscovered" variation or a typo on his part?
If anyone is looking at buying the phone in the Ebay ad let me warn you the seller says he takes returns, but now is claiming I must pay him the 12% deposit he paid to the Hong Kong Samsung supplier. I hope this isn't going to turn into an Ebay dispute - the seller has 100% good feedback so I wasn't expecting any problems.
******UPDATE:
Well, it is now officially a dispute/investigation. The model number in the ad doesn't match either Samsung HK, or the Asian version I am really after (I think!): SM-N950FD which should be Exynos, 256GB, Duos, and I've heard mixed rumours re unlocked bootloader. So the ad is either a typo, new variant or fraud. I guess I will know in a few days. Ebay says they will support the return in any event because the seller never put any stipulations re returns in the ad. BUYER BEWARE!
I will post any updates as I get them.
In the meantime, please advise if my desired phone, in Orchid Grey, is available to purchase anywhere!

Hi Tonyspurs,
Thank you but that is a single sim version. I want Dual Sim, 256GB (internal), Exynos, unlocked bootloader. Sigh so far doesn't exist apparently.
*****UPDATE:
After several interesting communications back and forth with seller, the seller finally refunded the money for the phone, but not the shipping. Another call to Ebay finally took care of that - but I will still lose some money on the currency conversion. Well, that is officially the most money I have (almost) spent on a phone before... LOL. I was disgusted with Note 5 specs and then foiled by the Note 7 debacle - it's just plain mean to be teased with this elusive Note 8 and not be able to actually buy one!

It now makes sense to me why he yelled at me when I enquired whether his model was Exynos or not (he told me it was Snapdragon, but a day after yelling at me, advised he could get the Exynos variants in but not in Orchid Grey.) I think you have saved me some trouble - so thank you Just from my experience with the Note 7 debacle, 100% positive feedback doesn't mean anything - my seller got all his negative feedback deleted and I had to twist many arms to get my refund.
Please let me know if you stumble across Dual Sim, 128/256GB, Exynos Note 8 in Orchid Grey as that's the one I'm holding out for also Good luck!
Wow! I wish I had had that information to give Ebay to add to my complaint. The seller kept changing his story - including that he had told me he was selling two versions (he hadn't stated that) and that the version he was selling me was Exynos (in grey!). I see his ad is still up so maybe Ebay hasn't (yet) received enough complaints. If I saved at least one person from getting ripped off then I am glad, but I would have been happier to see the ad pulled.
Likewise if you hear of any leads for same (256GB though). Hopefully @maheshhtc will pipe up if he/she spots the phone in India this week.

It seems the guy (Kimbi) ebay seller has removed that specific ad where he had mentioned F950FD Dual sim with 256 GB internal memory. Not saying that these people are fraudsters but they take advantage of language problem. Right now 9500 dual sim with 256GB memory is available but snapdragon version. I think 27th there will be 128GB release & October 5th for 256GB exynos version.
Interesting - he just updated the ad - I checked it before posting above and it still had the FD version with last revision Sept 15th. In re-checking the revision stats after reading your post it looks like the same ad with title and description changed today. I'm guessing the Ebay complaint had something to do with the revision. At least people will now know what they are getting.

Flashing Samsung Firmware

Firstly, I hope this is appropriate to post here - I'm new to this and I'm just getting to grips with it all!
Basically, I live in England, but I'll soon be moving to America. While I was on holiday in America this year, I bought an unlocked Note9 because it was cheaper with the exchange rate, and I thought that it would be the better decision, given that I'll be living in the U.S. soon enough.
However, the firmware is different in certain ways, and I much prefer the U.K. firmware versions. There are things missing from the firmware, that my Dad's U.K. Note9 has, and that my old GS8+ had.
My question is, if I flashed the U.K. firmware to my Note9 would that change my device status? I want it to still say 'Official'. Also, would it do anything to the KNOX counter - or would it even work?
Thanks in advance!

uk model is a N960F
us model is a N960U
you cant flash anything from one to the other.
you should have bought the uk version. a high % of Americans buy the international versions for various reasons. one being the locked bootloader on the us version stopping them from attaining root and modifying the system to their will. this year the international F model you guys have in the UK apparently is the lesser phone performance wise. i think it is negligible since rooting is a big advantage in some cases.
anyways please dont mix up unlocked phone meaning not bound to a carrier or region and unlocked bootloader.
cpu arch:
exynos = F model =unblockable bootloader
snapdragon = U model = locked bootloader
both models are avalablabe in region unlocked models.
there are other variants like the N9600 which is special in a way that being a snapdragon, it can have its BL unlocked.
there is also a N960N which is 99% identical to a N960F model.
A N960W In canada which is 99.999% like the us U model.
and finally the F, N and n9600 are all available in DS models too( 2 x sim cards /dual sim)

What is the exact model NON-CN / NON-Tencent with 16GB RAM / 512 NAND?

I am somewhat confused by the models and am really looking to buy this phone (any suggestions where USA?) (T-Mobile)
My main question is that I want to make sure not to end up with the CN / TENCENT version of this phone!
I notice there are a few model numbers like (ZS661KS) seller on newegg says this is a CN model. I want the international version with 16GB RAM / 512ROM
What model number should I be looking for?
Thank you!

Unfortunately the model numbers are all the same. The version you want is not out yet. Wait for the NA global version. September hopefully.
