whats the best way to get a 3t to unmodded 9x firmware? - OnePlus 3T Questions & Answers

hi, i have been searching, but i don't see that anyone has asked this question exactly...is there a way to use stock 9.0x firmware on a 3t and LineageOS if i DONT care about wiping? I have a 3T that i currently have Lineage 16 but not current because i am on 5.08 firmware. I could completely wipe phone, given that, would it work to flash stock OxygenOS on the phone (presumably to get 9.0 firmware) and then go through the procedure to install Lineage again?
thanks in advance
to be clear, I am currrently running lineageos 16 (pre 9.x firmware requirement) and stock 5.08 firmware. the system is unlocked (obviously) and i have twrp installed.
what I want is unmodded 9.06 firmware with lineagos 16 and am ok with wiping if i have to.
thanks

Because I like my phone unlocked and encrypted, this is what I would do:
- backup my user data to a PC
: Install OOS 9.0.6 full rom
- Format data (wipe>format data) to remove encryption
- boot system (will re-encrypt the data and replace TWRP)
- copy data back to phone
- flash TWRP using fastboot
- install Los 16
Sent from my OnePlus3T using XDA Labs

It's answered in the official los-16 and official twrp threads. Exactly that. You need to read through the threads, it's not in the OP.
It's basically: flash twrp-3.3.1-0 or later, relock 5.0.x bl, boot to twrp-3.3.1-0 or later and wipe system and format data, teboot to twrp-3.3.1-0 or later and update the gw to 9.0.x. Reboot to twrp-3.3.1-0 or later and flash rom, gapps and otional stuff as usual.

Does this update conflict / do I require this update?

Good day all,
got a new OTA rolled in for my Droid Turbo, though I already have a clean flash from MM on this device.
The following update rolled in which failed to install per TWRP recovery (ERROR 7)
What exactly is this update?
Has to be installed with stock MM recovery, OR flash the full stock firmware, twrp version, in twrp (3020) worked for me. Don't forget to wipe caches, data unnecessary.

But I do not want to re-flash my firmware. Especially since this update is only 20+ mb it is not large enough for me to re-clean everything and restart it all. Stock recovery is the only solution?
Stock recovery only for tbe OTA. The OTA will likely fail if the ROM isn't pure stock. Flash the twrp version and wipe, and you'll only need to reload any ROM extras. Root with the beta SU after a simmered restart. It seems to like a settled ROM better. Update SU via PlayStore at restart.

If by re-clean you mean re-delete system apps that you don't want, that will be inevitable. The OTA will not install unless system is 100% stock, and the TWRP package will reflash everything to 100% stock. So either way, if you want this update, you'll be re-deleting some system apps.
However, if you're worried about losing userdata, don't. Neither the OTA nor the TWRP package will touch that.
As for your original question of "what is the update," it's just a security patch. It updates the android security patch level to January 2017, and it makes it so phones with locked bootloaders cannot be unlocked (but it will not re-lock and already unlocked bootloader).

Moving from RR Nougat to oreo

So, I am on RR nougat official firmware(4.15 or whatever lol) but want to move to Oreo....what must I do?
Download OTA from OP site, plug 3T into PC, wipe data and flash ota. When finished you can lock bootloader if you want or follow root guide.

Hardware firmware and "ROM" system is not the same. The firmwares used by the Bluetooth controller and modem hardware is independent of the ROM except for the fact that the application layer apps/phone RIL must be able to communicate with the modem firmware. Therefore it's important to have the matching firmwares in the phone for the ROM bundled binary packages (binaries and firmwares taken from the same original OxygenOS ROM) for them to be as compatible as possible.

How to update unlocked and rooted stock rom?

Hello there.
My G5s+ is suggesting a security update. But since I did unlock the bootloader and rooted it with magisk I did not install it.
My question is: What is the best way to update the phone?
Just flash the new stock rom? And where do I get those?
Thanks in advance.
Nobody here that can tell me how to upgrade?
Should I just flash the new version if I get it somewhere?

Unlocked bootloader will not affect the OTA installation..!
The reason the OTA-Update fails is that one of the boot, system, logo or recovery partitions are changed.
Magisk modifies the boot image.
On rooted device..OTA may brick the device..so avoid OTA installation..!
Reply your current build Number from about phone..
Do a clean flash.

Flash 26-11 full firmware
Where can I find full firmware versions of the stock rom to flash?
My build version is: NPSS26.116-26-4
As I understand it, there are two new security patches since that version? If I'm flashing one of the newer versions, is it just a case of dirty flashing it normally through twrp? No need to factory reset?

If that is the firmware build you need, you could try the firmware here: https://firmware.center/firmware/Motorola/Moto G5s Plus/Stock/ but ensure you download the correct firmware. (credit to: https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g5s-plus/how-to/xt1804-able-to-lock-bootloader-npss26-t3722572) Also, verify it is the firmware you require and was the latest firmware build on your device - please don't downgrade with stock firmware (else you may hard brick with OTA updates corrupting your bootloader)...
Stock OTA updates, as mentioned above, require fully stock firmware - they will not flash with root, modifications or TWRP (and attempting to flash via TWRP may soft bootloop your device). Thus, you must re-flash the stock firmware - you may be able to save your data by omitting the 'fastboot erase userdata' command and you do not have to re-lock your bootloader. However, I'm not familiar with the G5S Plus and I hope another user can provide you with flashing commands.
I would still recommend you make a backup of your device in TWRP and keep that safe, in case you have to wipe your data for stability.

Fingerprint sensor doesn't work on Android 9.0

Hello,
I was using an Oreo crDroid custom rom for a while until I decided to upgrade to a Pie Havoc custom rom. Now the FP sensor doesn't get recognized by the rom.
I read that I need to downgrade my FP firmware to nougat base, how do I do that ?
I'm currently using the Havoc rom, everything is working but the FP sensor.
Thanks in advance!
You need to flash
For Oreo bootloader (deprecated): FPb-sign.zip

There are so many versions of oreo firmware for sanders on XDA.
Which one is to go for?
Or which one is the authenicated firmware?
Plz mention the best one as i am planning to flash a custom rom for the first time and i need fingerprint gestures the most.

Flash the Pie Havoc rom, then the file I attached, and then TWRP.
Reboot recovery and continue with the flashing.
That worked for me.

3. Flash rom

No, read the pie threads.
You have to flash rom, twrp
reboot twrp
flash gapps and magisk
But read the first post of the thread's rom you'll be flashing.

Why is there no ROM for Unlocked PRA-LX2 with EMUI 5?

Successfully unlocked PRA-LX2 bootloader with DC Unlocker
Flashed EliteTWRP (because every other TWRP is down)
Rooted with Magisk
But
There are no ROMs that says it will work with EMUI 5 PRA-LX2. Tried LineageOS that said will work with EMUI 8.x firmware and obviously didn't work.
Can't update to EMUI 8 through Team MT because it only supports locked devices?
Manual EMUI updates get stuck at 5%
Phone doesn't even show a updater app
Does this mean i'm stuck with unlocked emui 5?
Can someone please link me to a guide that will help me update to emui 8 and oreo manually so i can enjoy these awesome ROMs?
Please
Okay Haky86's LineageOs 14.1 worked but I still need a way to update that to newer LineageOS version? Anyone have a guide to dload PRA-LX2 to EMUI 8?

Nope it won't work
All roms available for this device are GSI's ( Treble roms).
What you have Now( Lineage OS 14.1) is not GSI rom
Your device will be treble supported after updating to EMUI 8. After that you can Flash any rom of your choice.
Currently I have Havoc OS 2.9, it wasn't available on these treads but I Flashed it because it was GSI rom

I followed this guide
But the TWRP mentioned in the video didn't worked for me and No official TWRP was available for this device at that time.
After Flashing System, I did Factory reset via Stock recovery.
About Performance ... Don't expect Mid-Ranger King like performance ? UI animation seems a little slow than AOSP Stock Roms. You should also Flash NSF- Injector or L-Speed or FDE.AI like Magisk Modules Why? Because these optimize the Rom and I was able to play Call of Duty Mobile on Medium Settings?? on EMUI 8 it was struggling even on Low settings.
And I have Stock Kernel
Rom is stable ... Bluetooth Audio work. Adaptable Storage doesn't work and I heard it doesn't work on Android 9. Didn't checked the GPS.
Update ...
Things I forgot to mention ...
1) Signal bar is bugged it always shows 1 bar?
2) Camera is now choppy ... P20 pro camera Magisk version doesn't work, Gcam doesn't work because of Android 9?but you can have Google Camera Go, result is better than AOSP camera
3) Mobile Hotspot doesn't turn off, you have to Enable WiFi to turn it off???

Important Note :
*DC unlocker doesn't Unlock the Bootloader* .... * it only gives you the Bootloader Unlock Code* .... * So you have select "get bootloader unlock code" NOT UNLOCK BOOTLOADER ( currently I don't remember the correct option on DC unlocker Client)
Firstly I downgraded to Android 7 via Hisuit, then Unlocked the Bootloader. At that time DC Unlocker worked only with EMUI 5 ( Android 7), I don't know about the current status of DC unlocker. If you try to get bootloader unlock code with Android 8 it won't recognize your device.
Updated to Android 8 via OTA to enable Project Treble
Brother Momin, which version of TWRP did you use? My phone has EMUI 8 and I have unlocked the bootloader.
I had tried following the video you mentioned above. I used the TWRP they mentioned. Then downloaded Havoc 64bit ROM and flashed it. The everything went downhill from there. I couldn't factory reset or boot up. Sadly, I forgot to make a backup and then had to get my phone flashed with the stock ROM from a professional. What was the exact steps you followed? Thanks.

I had major problems too when I wanted to boot HAVOC OS 2.9
I used this guide to unbrick mine
https://forum.xda-developers.com/p8...uide-brick-huawei-p8-lite-2017-maybe-t3816694
In this guide there is TWRP named RecoveryV2 ... This was the only working TWRP for my device,

*important Note* = I could use this TWRP to flash things like Magisk,OpenGapps or to revert to EMUI etc. This TWRP couldn't Factory Reset my device and corrupted my internal Storage.
You have to wipe system via fastboot, Flash Havoc OS via Fastboot , Factory Reset via Stock Recovery ? then Flash TWRP to flash Gapps, Factory Reset via Stock recovery ? Flash TWRP for Magisk?
In Magisk you should Flash Ainur Auido to increase Sound Quality and NFS Injector to increase the performance of Device
Its been a year since I Flashed Havoc on my device and I kinda Flash and Forget ?
Thanks for the reply. Your device is Pra-Lx2 or Lx1? Is it your daily driver? So the process is: bootloader unlock>wipe system via fastboot>flash havoc>factory reset via erecovery>flash twrp, gapps, magisk etc.
Will I be able to backup my stock rom from twrp before I flash Havoc, as a fall-back if anything goes wrong?

TWRP couldn't do Nandroid backup. I haven't tried Official TWRP because I didn't need it.
Yes Havoc is daily driver.
If anything goes wrong, follow unbrick guide- unbrick via HuruUpdater method. Always have full Stock Rom on your PC ( as it is around 2.5gb) you can get it from Firmware Finder.
After Gapps I did Factory Reset via Stock recovery just in case?
