Android 10 Secure Folder Issue - Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Questions & Answers

I have just recently updated my N960N to android 10 and I have noticed that everything is working just fine. However when I attempt to update Wechat via Google Play in the Secure Folder it stalls at 71% and stays there with a "Downloading Addition Files notification". I can download Wechat normally outside the Secure Folder perfectly fine. I can also download and install any other app in the Secure Folder without any issues. I even attempted to reinstall Wechat in my Secure Folder but the results were the same. I haven't tried a Hard Factory Reset yet as I want to see if there are any other ways I can resolve this issue. Without resorting to the nuclear option.

Tried that too night. Didn't work bro. I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Secure Folder same thing. I found out that the only solution was to install Wechat normally on my Note 9 and copy that install into the Secure Folder. I may need to do a Hard Factory Reset of my note 9 afterall.

HELP! Launcher Pro Error Rendered my phone USELESS

I've got launcher pro installed and all I did was select a setting under preferences from the home screen in the Launcherpro settings to restore back to its defaults. As soon as I did it asked me to restart. I selected to restart later and then it just started giving me this error:
The application Launcher Pro (process.android.process.acore) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. Dumpstate_app_201007291243_android_process_acore. Log has been saved. Use *900# to copy out log.
This error keeps coming one after the next. I can't do anything on my phone.
I searched everywhere online and the solution is "HARD RESET YOUR PHONE".
I called ATT cust support and they DON"T KNOW how to do it w/out going through the UI.
Everywhere online says hold the down button and power on while holding down. I tried that and it does NOTHING.
Somebody please help?
I don't understand why I can't even get to the factory reset menu at least?
I get all my notifications and everything. I can access anything that pops into my notification tray. It get's interuppted by the launcherpro error message but I can kind of plow through it but I can get to the messages application if there's a message in my notification tray or an email. Can I somehow get to the reset menu from that tray?
I can't access any settings normally because settings run off the home screen and my home screen is unavailable due to the launcher pro widget. I just got this phone...this SUCKS.
I can also access the phone through mass storage. I new to droid so I can't brainstorm any ideas.
Try this.
1. remove your battery wait a few seconds and replace it
2. hold down the up and down volume buttons and the power button until the att screen loads on the screen
3. make sure that reboot system now is highlighted (use the power buttons to move) and press the power button
That should reboot your system. If that doesn't work try repeating step 3 but select delete all user data instead.
If launcherpro is crashing, why not go to appbrain on a computer and give the command uninstall it there. In between the crashes, I am sure the phone will get the command and do the deed. Once done, reboot the phone and either TouchWiz should launch, or the screen that tellls you to select default launcher will come up, and allow you to select TouchWiz. Worth a shot I think.
So hold down and up simultaneously? along with the power button?
Do I hold these down until the reboot menu appears? or do I have to hold all three until a specific point during the phone boot then let go?
I've never heard of appbrain but I will check it out and try it if the reset doesn't work still. Thank You!
I tried holding up and down and power and it sent me to the menu Thank You!
the options are
reboot system now
reinstall packages
delete all user data
delete cach data
is this the stock menu? I was wondering if reinstall packages would correct the issue without erasing my data?

I guess it wouldn't hurt anything to try. I would still try reboot system now first. If that doesn't work you may want to look into the appbrain solution posted above.

I think you may also need to add fast web installer to the toolchain. Get that on the phone first somehow if you need to (ADB install?).

Have you tried the reboot system choice yet? That will not delete any of your data, but it may restart Launcher Pro so that it actually works.
Yes it didn't work. I tried to reinstall all packages but it's looking for some type of ".zip" file at the root directory.
I think it's because I rooted it to sideload, and so this is not the stock reboot menu.
I'm going to have to research to find out what I need to do from here. I'm a brand noob but I think I'm on the right path.

No, that is the correct reboot menu. The reinstall packages searches for update.zip in the root of the sd card, that is how you rooted the device. At this point I would suggest trying the Appbrain method and seeing if you can get that to work. I have never used it so I won't be much help there. If you can't figure that out deleting user data should fix your phone, but you will lose your data.
When you do get everything working I suggest you download rom manager from the market and making a backup of your ROM once you get everything working properly. That will enable you to use the reinstall packages choice to basically go back to a previous working version of your ROM.
Maybe adb (in Android SDK) can be used to remove Launcher Pro?
adb uninstall com.fede.launcher
The only problem is, I think USB debugging mode must be on for this to work...

If it's just pictures you are trying get, then go into mass storage mode, that you indicated you can do. Then take whatever you need off the phone and copy it to your computer. After that put the update.zip file found here onto the root of the internal sdcard. Disconnect the phone and reboot into recovery and apply the update.zip by reinstall packages. Once you get back up, do a factory reset and you will be back to a stock phone with root enabled. Either this, or get your pictures off the phone and then reflash with Odin3 One Click Downloader.
This is what happened. I guess pics/videos are saved to the SD card by default. I found them all there.
So I installed the update.zip file on my device.
I reinstalled packages. Everything went back to normal. A lot of my data was saved too!
I went to the market to download the Rom Manager and had issues. No matter how many apps I tried to download from the Market it stalled at "Starting Download". The ones I paid for said "installed" still.
I did a factory reset through the GUI. It worked. I can download now.
I entered the market with my known google username/password. I tried to reinstall ALL my paid apps. They no longer are marked "installed" but appear as if I did not pay.
Now I'm STUCK on how to get my paid apps back! Namely Rom manager PREMIUM for starters. There's no code or serial to enter. Is there a way to get this back w/out paying for it again?
From the source:

It appears that you are following the steps. Is it possible you forgot your gmail sign in information and created a new account. A second factory reset may be needed.
This is the same thing that happened to me. Hard reset fixed it.
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S
I'm all set, I used the WRONG account.
For future reference, you could have just removed launcherpro from adb.

[Solved] Play services update too big?

Hello
My only phone, the N1 is driven by ev_passion_nightly-2014.08.17. Thanks to Mounts2SD I thought storage capacity limits shouldn't bother me in future: Internal memory says 182 MB free, SD card 2.6 GB free (it's a 4 GB card).
This week Gmail updated to 5.0 - with this update comes the need to update google play services (6.1.88 (1557022-034)). I wasn't able to update (tried play store and .apk) the services due to "Not enough memory available"-Error.
Is anybody experiencing the same?
Regards

Yes, I just tried to update and it also failed due to "insufficient storage available". I did a backup of the old version and unistalled it. After that reinstalling from the Play Store worked fine.
I had a similiar issue with Dropbox last week though and just uninstalling it wasn't enough. I still got "ISA" error when trying to install from store again but installing the apk (copied from another device) went well.
I was just able to uninstall the updates of play services (now I'm on 4.0.34) a full uninstall doesn't seem to be possible that easy. Unfortunately the "ISA" error remains

No Superuser access? Which ROM?

So if you have Superuser you can use Link2SD to freeze/uninstall any app.
Just make sure that you cancel the file system selection dialog (ext2/ext3/ext4/...) because you are already using Mounts2SD. Even without the linking feature it's a great app manager.
Grant Superuser to Link2SD so you can manage all apps. Search for Google Play services in the list, then press and hold it, choose "Uninstall".
Installing it from Play Store should work again.
If not, download it from APKMirror. I checked the MD5 so it's legit.
Thanks, uninstalling worked now. Installation however still isn't working. APK still complains about storage, and Play Store can't be accessed - it stops at an account selection popup.

Are you sure that Mounts2SD is working correct? What does "Storage Threshold" say? Which content types are "green"?
Try to "Clear all app caches" with Link2SD and set "Install location" to "Automatic" in the settings.
Mounts2SD should work correctly (see attachments). I've cleared the app cache and set location to automatic. "ISA"-Error is still present.
Yes, Mounts2SD seems to be fine. It's strange though that your error still persists when mine was gone after that.
Are these directories still present? You can check it with ES File Explorer or any other file manager with root access.
/data/data/com.google.android.gms
/data/app-lib/com.google.android.gms-1
What if you try to install the previous version?
/data/data/com.google.android.gms is gone, the other on is still present. Installing the previous version doesn't work too (ISA-Error).

Rename it (to something like com.google.android.gms.old) and try to install again.
After renaming installation of the new version was possible and Gmail 5.0 is running. Thanks a lot for your help!

[GUIDE] How to fix Oculus System Activity Update issue.

After scratching and pulling my hair for weeks trying to educate my samsung s7 e some manner I came across the VR . Back when I was in stock it worked. But, now it stucked in the Oculus System Activity update loop. After couple of online guides I got frustrated and went to clean up my sd card. So, here is it :
If you are rooted get a recycle bin app or enable it in you file explorer if yours have one. Es file explorer has it , but I use dumpster.
Whenever you hit the update button oculus app downloads the system activity as a form of .apk and when it failed to install it, it deletes the apk. That's where the recycle bin apps comes in to action. Its, saved the deleted apk. in my case its in
/mnt/sdcard/Android/data/com.baloota.dumpster/files/.trash/ . Yours may vary depending on your apps.
Now what I did is I restored it and installed it like a normal apk please don't forgot to enable your "Unknown Source"
For non rooted user I am attaching the apk but I will not be responsible for your device as I don't know whether they are device specific or not.

Hit the thanks button if I helped
You are the BEST. Thanks man. I was getting crazy with this. I tried everything.
I still don't know where the problem comes from but at least I don't have to factory reset ??
Could you please post the files again? I've deleted the Facebook Installer and can't update the Oculus VR anymore. I've installed the Facebook app but the Installer part did't reinstall.
Please post the file again
Yes, could you please upload the file again... Dropbox show the file cannot be found.
My phone is not rooted

Problems downloading since Oreo update

Hoping someone can help with an issue I've noticed since upgrading to 8.0. When trying to download a file from Google Drive or any other app that attempts to place it in the Downloads folder nothing will happen. After around 5 minutes Google Drive will give me a connection failed notification, other apps will just fail silently. So far I've tried: clearing cache and data for download manager, deleting and recreating the downloads folder and even a full factory reset. After resetting things seemed to work as normal for a few hours but eventually - same old problem. Does anyone have any ideas?

I had same issue. Some apps acting funny with Oreo. I just downgraded Google drive and problem gone.
Update: Figured out that the issue is using a VPN. Used the same setup on 7.0 with no issues but for some reason on Oreo some apps don't play nice with certain adblock apps that use local VPN's.

I managed to get GMS running (10.1.0.136) (no USB-Pendrive)

So after hours and hours of following loads of different Guides on YouTube I finally managed to get GMS to fully work again.
I followed his Guide, for the most part, but did some things different.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wxqEZMX6Kl8&t=37s
[EDIT: Set your system language to english after resetting your phone, until you (hopefully) got GMS running]
(1) As soon as i reset my device I opened AppGallery, went to settings and froze automatic App-Updates.
(2) After that I uninstalled the Backup App by going into Settings > Apps > Apps > (search for Backup and show system apps) > uninstall
(3) Instead of getting the Purple G App via a USB Pendrive I got it by restoring a (different) backup with hisuite.
(4) Instead of grabbing the files from a pendrive I had them on my internal storage
(5) After getting the PlayStore to work for the very first time (video timestamp 04:59) I installed alot of apps (important!)
Other than that I followed his guide exactly.
*(3) Get the latest version of HiSuite on your computer.
Unpack Backup file for Hisuite.rar. Put the folder inside of it into documents / HiSuite / backup.
Connect your device to your computer via USB Cable. Choose "transfer files" on your phone.
Go into your phones' settings, search for "HDB" and allow HiSuite to use HDB. (HiSuite will now be installed on your phone)
Open it and give it all the permissions that it needs.
On your computer, enter the Code that the Hisuite App shows on your phone.
Hit restore.
HiSuite will try to install the Backup App that we uninstalled before. It's gonna tell you that the installation failed, just ignore it and try to restore the Backup again.
(Backup File for Hisuite.rar): http://www.mediafire.com/file/a7wbsq1hjkz7vnr/Backup_file_for_Hisuite.rar/file
*(5) List of apps that I installed at that point:
Chrome
Google
Google One
Assistant
Drive
Keep Notes
Home
Street View
YouTube
Maps
Gmail
Whatsapp
Play Games
Facebook
Let me know if this worked for you ^^

Im trying to find a solution for other apps, wish me luck
The only way to have push service notification working is to icebox google framework. In that way u'll have notifications and you can even add how many gmail accounts you want. At the price of Google Play Store, you have to use Aurora Store or defroze google framework when you need it
