Request: OpenMoji Module for Magisk - Magisk

Hi there,
I just installed Magisk. On my old Android phone I had Xposed. So I don't know Magisk well yet.
I searched for some emoji changer in Magisk, because I'd like to use the Openmoji.org set (also on Github) (Sorry, I can't post links yes as a new user). I only find changer for other emoji sets. How could I do this, or is anyone interested to make such a module? @tych_tych for example?
Thanks!

Port modules from Xposed to Magisk

hi everyone, i just want to know if its possible to make a port from youtube adaway and microOG (from ogyoutube) modules to Magisk i think magisk its the best hide root app snice google becomes too evil with root users (bassically, every xda member)
You can modify the Youtube apk yourself and then use Magisk to replace the stock apk. That's about it...
Magisk and Xposed are two very different modifications to your device and they're NOT interchangeable.
But im talking about modules

I saw a thread about magisk modules there are a lot of modules like viper and others and the developer do a systemless versión of xposed for magisk, so i think a bit about porting xposed modules itself
The word "modules" is not exclusive to Xposed....
There are certain things that you can do with Xposed that you also can do with Magisk, and vice versa. But (and I repeat), they are very different frameworks and are NOT interchangeable.

Magisk = You want to stay on the stock ROM and only need root and maybe a couple of mods like build.prop additions and you don't want to modify your system partition.
Xposed = Your system is modified and you want more deeper OS level mods like custom ROM features injected into your system with the Xposed bridged framework.
Magisk as of now can't add any special custom ROM features unless you modify a whole apk and use Magisk to systemlessly replace the stock apk with the modified one. There is no injecting code into your system like Xposed.
Oh i got it, thanks

It's magisk bug. If you encounter this bug please reinstall magisk installer via TWRP. And you'll get all of your Module back.

Just click delete module on magisk manager. And my module will gone (uninstalled). It's systemless BTW.
Or you may install emoji only, I gave the link in 1st post.
Emojis working perfecly on kenzo NOS 7.1.2! Thanks
working perfectly on redmi note 3....but honor 6x having weird symbols beside emojis..any fix bro ?
Is there a font module only?[emoji4]

Installed this through magisk 14 on a moto g5s+ running stock nougat, and it looks like it's worked, but then it will display a different emoji to the one that you click. Anyone having this problem?
Edit. Actually, it seemed to be a problem with textra. Once I downloaded the textra ios emoji plugin it put them in the right order. Seemed to be working properly everywhere else.
This module won't install at all. I tried 3 separate times, even re installed Magisk completely. Here is recovery log.
UPDATE: There's a bug in the installer somewhere because if I flash it first then no other modules will install no matter if I flash magisk again in TWRP and if I instait last it just won't install period.
UPDATE 2: I tried another systemless font zip with pixel 2 fonts and it does the exact same thing so it maybe rooted to that somehow. Thanks again.
Noob question but i just rooted my pixel 2 using Magisk and the only reason for doing so was to install IOS emojis (since most people i message use apple phones its easier for me to understand them)
Previously i rooted my galaxy s6 and used emoji switcher from the play store to change the emojis. Afterwards i unrooted the phone since i was having issues with safetynet apps (i originally rooted with CF autoroot and supersu). Even though i unrooted my phone the IOS emojis remained and I was able to use my safetynet apps properly again.
After rooting my pixel 2, I had some issues with emoji switcher (emojis were cut off on gboard and too close together when typing) so i decided to try this module instead. Worked perfectly save for the lockscreen square as shown in a previous post. Since I dont require root for anything else, I was wondering if I unrooted through Magisk Manager (and restoring the stock boot.img) would this module uninstall itself as well? And would i have any issues with safetynet following the unroot?
I would prefer to keep the IOS emojis and was wondering if they would remain if I decide to unroot(since I assume the module simply overwrites the system fonts)

Magisk modules doesn't actually write anything to /system, so if you uninstall Magisk, you uninstall the mod.
You can of course use the root permission to overwrite the system fonts, but if you plan on unrooting and keep the modification, don't use a Magisk module.

Ok i used a root explorer to find the /system/fonts folder. I assume I would simply have to copy the .ttf files from the module zip into that folder? Or is there more steps to take?
Sorry for asking but i am fairly new rooting and my previous rooting experience was limited to following youtube guides and I'm still a bit unfamiliar with modifying system files.

That would do it, yes... Take whatever files you want from the module and copy to the corresponding location on your device. Just remember that you will not be able to update your device with OTA updates, since /system has then been modified. You'll have to do that manually with factory images.
Edit: you might have to change permissions for the files, but just make sure they match whatever other files are in the same folder and you should be good.

[Request] Module for Toast Notifications like XToast

I'm on Pie. Xposed and Xtoast no longer works on Pie. XToast is Toast Notification personalization app. (Duration, Style, Height, Color)
So anyone have suggestion XToast like module for Magisk?
I only needed for disable toast notifications for specific apps.
Thanks.
No... That's quite outside the scope for what Magisk can do with it's module, but it happens to be exactly what Xposed is for. So, if you don't have Xposed you'd have to find some other means of achieving the same (or similar) goal. But not with Magisk.
Think of Magisk like a file injector, where you just mount new files into the system (without touching it), and Xposed as a code injector, where the running code is altered on the go. Two quite different things...
You can of course make a Magisk module that mounts a modified apk over the stock one, where you have disabled toast notifications for that particular app, but that would be extremely cumbersome and not really feasible.
I get it. Thanks ?

android version? rom name? edxposed version?
Hi
I have Android 9.0 Pie,
BlackDiamond N8 v2
EdXposedInstaller_v2.2.5-release
Riru_-_Core-v19.5(27)
Riru_-_EdXposed-v0.4.5.1_beta(4463)_(YAHFA)(4463)
Functions as well on Android 10.0 Q with FloydQ v7 for S7
Later versions of Riru requires dev mods of the Xposed modules and as Xtoast is no longer maintained you must stay on a lower version of Riru for it to function.
I love it as well, but had to giv Xposed up to get som apps to function. :-(
Thanks...all good things must come to an end except one....

Xposed Installer with different package name

Hi, I'm trying to change the package name of the apk of the Xposed Installer...
I tried with the material design xposed Installer:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/material-design-xposed-installer-t3137758
The first time I changed only the name package and the app doesn't recognize xposed
The second time I changed every de.robv.android.xposed.installer in the manifest in de.robv.android.xandro.installer but the app doesn't open...
I'm trying this to hide the Xposed Installer from Remote Play PS4 that doesn't work with xposed installer Installer (It recognize the .xposed in the name package) (and yes I tried sudohide but It doesn't work for me, maybe because of android9)
Anyone with more knowledge can help me?

Not sure if this helps but using xprivacylua there are some custom hooks you can download to hide the exposed installer app. Worth a shot.

To be honest, I do believe that XPosed is detected by the Framework Binaries and not the App specifically (or Solely).
For example, if you were to look at an App's detection of Superuser...
With a flavorful of apps that manage Superuser, the detection of Superuser is made by locating the SU Binaries.
The above information is very brief but, pretty much to the point.
Your idea is not incorrect in itself but, you should be looking at this specific scenario in another light (aka the whole picture).
I don't use Magisk myself but, I've seen more successful posts for Magisk XPosed than the other options. I'm not stating that the other options don't work but, Magisk seems (to me) to be more successful.
Good Luck!

With xposed (without the Installer) the app works well, magisk also introduced the function to hide the word magisk from the application name and randomize the app package name
Anyway EdXposed Installer isn't detected, I Will use It when they will patch bootloops (or rovo release the official android 9 xposed)

Issues with Magisk

Hello,
Attached you could see my current version. For some reason I can't see all of the modules in Magisk. There are some that I'm looking for and I know should be there but they are not.
Any suggestions? Is that becaus of android 11? Also would like to install edxposed but it is telling me version is to new? Is that the reason for all of it?
Thanks
Exactly what modules are you looking for? There's been many purges of the module repo, so maybe the one you're looking for is no longer there...
And if you check the EdXposed docs you'll see that it "supports Android 8.0-10".

No such modules in the repo. And I don't think there's ever been one for AdAway... You might be thinking of "Systemless hosts" that you activate from the Manager settings.
I used to have Adaway (a stop sign with a white bird inside) and greenify when I used magisk on my OP5 a bit more then a year and a half ago...
Can you maybe explain to the system less host thing? Is there another place to download those apps/modules? Did something happened to magisk that all of a sudden there are less app and a lot are not supported anymore?
Like I said, there's been many purges of the modules repo. Modules that didn't get their installation scripts updated when necessary (they were basically abandoned), modules that were deleted by their creators (Greenify4Magisk is one example, IIRC), modules that John found shouldn't be in the repo anymore, etc.
And again, there's never been an AdAway module in the official repo (I'm fairly sure about this). The systemless hosts module is what you need, and then the regular AdAway app will only alter that rather than your system files.
There are many places were you can find modules outside the official repo (and an option to add third-party repos is in the planning stages). Your best friends in this instance are all the search options available to you (mainly XDA search and you search engine of choice).
