I'm on Android pie rooted stock. Some apps have the ability to play sound notifications through my Bluetooth device and also through the phone which confuses me.
I would think because the Bluetooth is connected that the sound would be diverted to the Bluetooth however it finds a way to play the sound through the Bluetooth and the phone.
How can I take disability away I do not see the option in the notifications settings of the app.
Thank you for any help me

I just got myself a new bluetooth headset (Jabra 8040). This model allow stereo music streaming as well. The problem i face is that once i pair the bluetooth, the ring tone and sms tones goes direct to my headset and does not ring on the pda as it normally would.
My question....is there a software that allows me to decide if i want it for handfree or for listening to music. I know i can do this via the settings in bluetooth but that is just too many steps.
I'm not sure if what i ask above is understandable cos i honestly cannot figure out how else to ask this question. Any pointers would be great. Thanks
When you pair you should get the option for headset and audio streaming.
Just select audio stream and it shouldn't send the phone calls to the headset.
Cheers
adam
That's the thing....when i select audio streaming, both music and ringtone & sms tone goes to the headset. If i select handsfree, then it works like a normal bluetooth handsfree but i don't have the option to use it for audio anymore.
I'm hoping to have a program or something to select or enable audio when i want to listen to music & then disable it and use it for handsfree when i don't want music.
If you go to Settings > Connnections > Bluetooth you should see the profile for the device. Click on it to edit and you will see two options, One for "Wireless Stereo" and one for "Headset". Make sure only the "Wireless Stereo" is checked and then click Save. This should do what you want, but I have never actually tried it myself. If it does not work, it may be the device you are pairing (some seem to work better then others). May someone who has tried this with another model can confirm it works correctly.
The part I am not sure about is where the sounds will go. So in the mode, music should go to the headphones, but what about alarm reminders, or along the same lines, the ringtone. I am not sure. I think there will still be some sounds that go to the phone speaker and I think the BT Audio CAB in the Latest CABS sticky can be used to toggle this, but there is little info about it in the post. If you are interested in using it, you may want to search and see if you can find more info.

Totally correct, adding to this, when you select 'Wireless stereo' It routes all sounds that would normally come out of the main speaker to the headphones (rings and notifications) audio in a call is either internal or external earpiece under 'Hands Free'. It does this so that when just listening to music, you do not miss a call or message!
If you only want music, put the phone into flight mode (nothing at all) or go to sounds and notifications and have all your incoming (calls & messages) set to vibrate only.
Hope this helps also.

How above the performance of Jabra 8040? Any sound skipping?
Thanx for the reply guys. That is what i want. Currently YES i'm able to toggle between using the bluetooth as a handsfree or for music via the settings->edit. I'm just wondering if there is a simple way like via a software which i can just tick and untick to either enable handsfree or music?
The Jabra 8040 is good. I like it and no i don't get any sort of skipping while listening to music. I would recommend this unless of course u are a hardcore music person. I'm not....it's only for once in a while sort of thing.
I'm trying to find an app, widget, or whatever that will completely disable the speaker on my T-Mobile G2 if a headset or BT is active.
Currently, ringtones and notifications come through the headset AND the speaker at the same time, only media comes through just the headset. If a headset is plugged in or BT enabled, I think that the speaker should be OFF. (WinMo has always done this. -- I just discovered this "feature" about Android while trying to adjust some ringtones while on an airplane with my headset plugged in - very embarrassing...)
Any and all suggestions would be welcome.
I've looked at several volume control apps, but few seem to support this feature. I tried Advanced Audio Manager that does have profiles for headphone and BT, but they either don't work on my G2 or just disable ringtones completely.
Before the KitKat update, Moto X would automatically mute whatever audio was playing through my car stereo (non-bluetooth audio, CD, radio, ipod, etc) when I interacted with it. This included texts via Moto Assist, Google Maps nav instructions, or even speech with touchless control. This was one of the main features I loved about this phone.
Now since the update, my phone doesn't mute my car audio any longer. I've tried unpairing and re-pairing the phone with no luck. The muting works fine when playing music from my phone through the bluetooth media option in my car. But it used to also work with other audio from non-bluetooth sources as well. The "Phone Audio" and "Media Audio" settings are checked in the bluetooth pairing on my phone, and the "mute audio" setting is checked for bluetooth on my car. I know that Google introduced some new Bluetooth functionality with 4.4, so not sure what settings might have been changed.
Anyone else have this issue, or know of a fix? For what it's worth, the car is a 2013 Volvo S60.
No one had this issue?
I'm listening to google music over bluetooth headset and receive a notification (via enhanced caller ID app) that's supposed to use the TTS engine. The music is dimmed but no voice is output. I tried to test the text to speech in settings, and nothing happens if music is playing (not even a dimming of sound). However, as soon as I pause the music, the TTS test works (I hear the voice).
Is there any way to force google music (lollipop?) play the speech/notification sound during music playback? I've tried various sound mixers and settings in lollipop, but can't get this to work.
Wow, I have a very similar situation.

I'm listening to Pandora through a Bluetooth audio system in my car, A notification comes in, (via enhanced SMS and caller ID app) and Pandora shuts down as it should and Enhanced asks me if I would like it to read the message, when I respond with yes, An error comes up on the screen that say something like this, Bluetooth Sharing has stopped. When Pandora comes back on it no longer plays through audio system just the phone speakers, even though bluetooth radio says they are still connected. When I turn Bluetooth off and on again, it still will only play through phone speakers. The only fix I have found is to shut down the Nexus and allow it to boot fresh, then everything is fine until the next notification arrives, the problem begins all over. Wrote ED a letter about this, He's the creator of Enhanced Caller ID and has always responded to me. So I'm waiting to see what he says, but I have used this program on my last four phones without any issues. I think it is yet another Lollipop issue. Not happy about it and hope the next update may address it. My money says that it has something to do with the screen being off, so tomorrow I'm going to have someone send me texts while I'm paired with car and keep the screen on while streaming Pandora and see if I get different results. Somehow I think it is related to the NFC security feature that will not let you use NFC unless screen is on and unlocked. Just a guess on my part, but I bet that is where the problem lies.
Found my issue. Using viper4android in compatible mode causes issues when two sources attempt to play together. Turned off viper and sounds over music playing worked again.
Sadly, Google decided to make Android 9 stream every sound a phone can make to a connected BT device, no matter if that device is capable of playing that sound, and no matter if streaming every sound makes sense at all. This leads to not hearing alarms and notifications and it also means you can't hear directional instructions by you navigation app when your phone is paired to your car's radio for phone calls only.
And sadly, Lineage decided not to undo this not-so-clever idea of Google.
I know we had this discussion before, but being not able to hear my navigation app drives me crazy every day I need to use it. My company car is equipped with a BT capable radio, that can handle calls only. But as soon as the radio and my phone are connected, Android/LOS still tries to send every tone and every sound to that radio, resulting in silencing my phone completely.
I tried some apps that can redirect any sound in a way that they appear as a phone call to a connected BT device. But those apps block calls, and while I am talking to some one, there won't be any navigation instructions on the car's speaker either and I have to rely on optical instructions, removing my vision from the happenings on the road. These apps also make the radio useless as a radio: you have to keep it switched to BT input all the time.
How about the other way round? Is there any app that can make Android stop sending a specific audio output to a connected BT device? If it's possible to disguise even music as a phone call, I imagine it should be possible to tell BT to use the phone's speaker for a specific source of sound.
There is a setting in maps whether to send directions via Bluetooth

There's a similar setting in Osmand, which sends directions as a phone call to the BT device. But using this option will interrupt the paring for phone calls, so you can't have both, you have to decide whether to use hand free calling mode or to hear your navigation directions.
BT and its settings was a thousand times more sophisticated in Android 7 / LOS 14, when alarms and notification sounds where played over the phones speaker, while your music or calls was sent to a BT device. Now, in A8/LOS15 and above, all sounds are send to a paired and active BT device. So, if your ear phones are activated, and you put them into your pocket, you won't hear any text notification or any alarm. I can not imagine the poor way of thinking at Google's development department that has lead to this idea.
