Hiii
I just want to confirm that weather it's normal or not?
1. When ever I connect my phone to power (While phone is switched off) USB/AC phone boots up to safe strap choice menu automatically without pressing any button & I can go to safe strap menu by pressing settings button or boot normally to phone. If i don't do any thing it goes to charging mode.
2. When I connect to AC power & at that time even if battery is not there in phone, it will boot to safe strap choice menu but wont boot further. whatever i press it will just boot again.
3. While connected to AC power after booting into safe strap even if I remove battery, safe strap works fine. I can browse through menu etc.
If that be the case then may be phone can also work like that with some tweaking, so for people like me who are most of the time working on laptops, they can connect their phone to charger cable whenever possible & reduce use of battery. It will increase the battery life also.
My Mi3 has switched off automatically and doesn't start again. The charger when plugged, the notification light keeps blinking red and when I removed it from charge and again plugged in, the phone is blank, the notification light also does not show up. I tried to boot into recovery by pressing volume up+power button, but that also doesn't work. I did not root my phone and I am on official miui v6 Rom. Please help!!
Try fastboot mode (power+vol down). If that doesn't work either then it's a hardware problem. If it works then proceeed to use Miflash in order to fix it.
From past 7hrs I've put the phone on charge and the red notification light still blinks, my phone is on now nut the charging % still shows 0 I don't know what to do
Use other charger.. Been through that prob.. I use 2A note 3 charger..
I've got an M8 charger as well, I'll try putting up that charger for Mi3 now..
I finally succeeded to boot into recovery mode, thought to wipe all data.. I selected wipe all data and now it's stuck at 98% and nothing is happening.. I am sick of it now. What do I do?

it seems you are using the mi recovery and wiping by mi recovery usually takes times just dont be in a hurry let it wipe it will take time and it usually get stuck at 98 but eventually will be 100%
once u wipe everything and flash a new ro dont forget to flash a custom recovery as well

I flashed into recovery not to flash a new Rom but to hard reset the phone.. and yes you were right, my phone did wipe completely( needed some patience at that time ) and now, after hard reset, my phone stayed normally but the charge was 0% and ids not charging.. what might be the problem??
Maybe you should use miflash and flash a new ROM via fast boot mode

Ran into the exact same problem yesterday. You need to use a higher output charger. After three different chargers, I came back to the original Mi3 charger and it started charging. I later used Ampere from the Play Store to see the output of different chargers and saw that this red-light blinking only comes with chargers having low output.
I have exactly the same issue. phone switched off and refuses to charge/boot.
whenever, i connect it to charger the red light comes up, the red light will be off after a while even when charger is kept connected.
again if i disconnect and connect the charger, the red light would come back.

I have exactly the same problem! And after a while the LED switch to Green, but when I try to start that phone, it doesn't work and screen only flashes few times and battery is recharging again from 1%
Useful guide
There are two methods suggested for you :
1. Hard turn on (just like taking out the battery for other phones) // Try this first
2. Try entering your recovery and reboot (or perform factory reset) in it.
To hard turn on:
1. Long press the power button for at least 10 seconds. Don't release until you see the Mi logo. Sometimes, more than 10 seconds is required. It depends on your case.
2. Release when you see Mi Logo.
To enter recovery:
1. Press the Power and Volume Up buttons at the same time.
2 Release them when you see the Mi logo.
Now, you should be in the recovery mode.
Tell me if it works. Glad if it helps.

I have the same problem, suddenly power off, red blinking led when connect to charger....
I replaced the battery, and now my mi3 is good like it was....
Sorry bad english....
The other day, I formatted all the partitions and my phone didn't boot anymore (not even the charging led). When I connected it to the computer, all partitions were visible so I used mi flash to install an old stable (kk) rom and it worked!
Hope this helps.

My Droid Turbo power buttons seems to no longer make contact (I don't hear any 'click'). I was concerned about these from the start (I've owned it since right around it came out in October last year). At the least, I was able to wake my phone up by calling it and setting the volume rocker to wake the phone. I leave the country in about 12 hours so this is a pretty frustrating discovery.
Anyway, can anyone confirm whether the Droid Turbo turns on after charging after it was turned off?
I've read in another forum that a Qi wireless charger will turn the phone on to charge it- does any know if this is how it works? If the phone is off, the Qi charger will turn it on and then perform a charging? What if it is drained completely? My buddy at work has an Energizer Qi charger, and his phone (Nexus something) did not turn on from being off when I placed it on the charger.
I have USB debugging enabled- would I be able to utilize adb to turn my phone on when it is off?
Thank you in advance, I'd try everything I'm asking except if none of them work my phones kaput.
'adb reboot' might turn it on if you have USB debugging enabled, but I would wait for someone to confirm this (I can't try it right now). I don't know how this would work but one Google result says it does.
For waking up the screen, there is Moto Display which responds to accelerometer motion and Moto Actions, Approach... which senses your hand motion.
I would just not turn it off, turn on airplane mode to conserve battery when not in use, maybe bring another phone as a backup.

Still no workaround?
I just ran into this problem. Power button is completely broken (no click, or any resistance given when pushed in), and phone died last night. The first time this happened, i plugged it in to charge and it booted right up after getting an initial charge of about 5%, but now nothing. The display shows that I'm at %100 charge, but cannot figure out how to actually power on without using the power button. Anyone had any luck with this yet?
Assuming your phone is powered off , Hold volume down key and connect charger cable. You will get into bootloader screen. Disconnect charger cable and connect phone to PC and use the following fastboot command to boot your device without actually using power button for once.
fastboot reboot

Thanks for this. I'm in the same boat. I'm at the bootloader. What do I need to be able to send the command to the phone? Is this what ADB is for?
You're welcome
First of all, you will need to have motorola usb drivers installed in your pc, download and install from motorola
Then, you need fastboot.exe in your p and, execute from windows command line. Have a look at Minimal ADB and Fastboot thread for information on how-to and downloads.
The rest as i posted, when the phone is off, keep volume down key pressed, connect charger, you will be in bootloader mode. This mode will let your phone and pc communicate only via fastboot protocol. So you can use the " fastboot reboot " command to start your device without a working power button.
dude you are the man. this thread and method saved me of having to buy a new phone cause i thought my phone was gonna be a paper weight. thanks for all the info on the fastboot protocol
i love you, thanks man.

Qi Charger Works
"I've read in another forum that a Qi wireless charger will turn the phone on to charge it- does any know if this is how it works? The Qi Wireless Charger works whether your phone is charged or not.. I went to the Verizon store and asked to see the charger demo'd... I placed my powered off, Fully Charged, Broken -power- button- Droid Turbo on the charger and it Came to life.
I immediately configured the phone with an alternate power button app to control the screen on/off. FYI None of the apps I found will actually power the phone on from off, but will control the screen once it is powered.
I actually tried everything in this forum short of the disassembly of the phone but that was next... the program download.. Reboot Fast Boot; I couldn't get it to download correctly. after about 3 hours I quit... drove to the store and the rest is history. So Glad Not to have Lost everything!..
When I try this in the command prompt it says The device is not ready. I have all the Motorola's drivers downloaded so why isn't it working?
Thanks so much for sharing the minimal adb fastboot info, my son had issues with his droid turbo power button. I ear raped him for not taking care of his phone. I felt bad but we were both amazed at my new computer skills. im totally a computer retard and powering his phone back up with that program felt great ....THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!
You are welcome and i would like to thank to that unknown hero for gifting me one month adfree xda
Thanks - using Qi charger "solution"

Thanks for the confirmation that this works. Not comfortable taking my Droid Turbo apart and would prefer to avoid that if at all possible. I have multiple QI chargers at home and work so hopefully that sustains until I get a new phone in 6 months. Will re-explore disassembly as an option when I find a good video for the Droid Turbo.
The Fastboot method worked perfectly! I'll be able to limp along until I get my upgrade. Thanks!
Like yours, my Verizon Droid Turbo has a broken power switch. I accidentally allowed the battery to drain completely and could not get it powered on. However, I placed it on my QI charger I use for my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge and it powered right up. Very happy that worked for me.
stuck in fastboot flash mode
Somehow I uninstalled my OS when trying to flash a ROM, and I'm stuck in Fastboot Flash Mode. My power button is broken. I can use ADB and do "Fastboot Reboot" but I'm still stuck in the bootloop. What other fastboot commands can I use to install a ROM that is on my internal storage? Or I have a download on my computer that I can use... Please help!

Well, using fastboot you can boot to TWRP.
http://lifehacker.com/the-most-useful-things-you-can-do-with-adb-and-fastboot-1590337225
adb reboot recovery
Function: Reboot your phone into recovery mode.
A lot of functions like flashing ROMs to your phone require you to boot into recovery mode. Normally, this requires you to hold down a particular set of buttons on your phone for a certain length of time, which is obnoxious. This command allows you to boot directly into recovery mode without performing the complex finger dance of your people.

From TWRP you can install the OS, you can drag files from your PC to install on your phone, you can RESTORE the backup I KNOW you made before doing any of this.

Haha, yes I do have a backup, but I can't get into recovery due to my broken power button and being in Fastboot Flash Mode. I checked the link, but didn't see the proper command... what is the command for Fastboot to TWRP recovery?
Here is what I'm seeing:
Bootloader: Slot-count: not found
Bootloader: Slot-suffixes: not found
Thank you for any more help you can provide!
I have experience a bootloop in redmi 4
Its starts when my battery reaches 0% when i connected to a charging the led indicator is blinking and after 5 minutes the phone power on with vibration and shows mi logo and turns off and the process repeats continuous when i connect the charger it repeats till my battery is over
Tried various switch to open recovery or fastboot nothing working
Please help me i dont know problem of my phone any possible fix for this
Try charging your phone from computer USB port when in fastboot mode. This will prevent it from turning off..after say half an hour after your battery is somewhat charged try switching to normal charger and check if problem still persists.

When i access fastboot mode it opens for about 3 and the phone restart
Press Power & Vol+ & Vol- , after a vibration.. Leave it. Same for Fastboot mode. Maybe you're holding it for indefinite time
I bought bricked droid 4 thinking i could fix it but apparently not.
Event after flashing the stock firmware (using fastboot), the phone still wont boot.
Some more information:
- Phone doesn't have a battery (or more specifically battery wont charge, dead probably, i disconnected it)
- I create a factory cable (bridge pin 1 and 4) and managed to enter fastboot mode
- When phone is connected to usb (without any buttons pressed), it shows a motorola logo for a few seconds, then the screen turns off, then the screen turns on again (this time only black no logo) and then reboots again.
- Same thing happens event when i try to enter recovery mode
So i have concluded:
1. It is not possible to boot the system with only factory cable, without battery (probably not the case)
2. There is some hardware issue (hopefully not)
If everything else fails i will try to charge the battery using external lithium charger circuit, see if maybe battery can be recovered, or if that fails buy another battery, see if it boots with a battery
I bought this phone to install linux and play around with it, if someone is wondering why would any sane person buy a broken 8 year old phone
Any tips would be welcome
To answer my own question, device cannot be booted using only factory cable, it needs to have a battery.
With factory cable you can only enter fastboot mode, not even recovery
Charged the battery using external charger, and device booted
