TWRP problem! - Xiaomi Mi 9 Questions & Answers

Hello
Installed twrp and after that, all of my folders changed to strange names such as _oeiuehbft and etc...
Wich part of twrp install was wrong? My phone is encrypted but is this related to my problem?
Please help... I want to install Pixel experience Rom
Thank you

Yes, your phone is encrypted. Use latest TWRP and format data (confirm with yes) to remove encryption. Don't forget to back-up, because with format you lose all data.

Problems with root and TWRP

I have a N950F and rooted it today by watching Max Lee High on Android videos. Flashing TWRP with ODIN,
formatting data, flashing OEM unlock zips and Magisk v16.0 ALL USING TWRP
after reboot and setup I boot to recovery because root was unstable so I wanted to reflash it
TWRP says 0MB, 0 memory in sdcard and I cannot flash anything. Also unable to mount anything except System which is RO, Cache, EFS.
Someone help me root my phone and add stereo, v4a and dolby :fingers-crossed:
Try to usw twrp from note 8 Forum here. The thread ist named twrp builder. Has you used a encryption ZIP to encrypt Data Partition?

then try to install the Builder TWRP (https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-8/development/recovery-galaxy-note-8-t3832962). It works like a charm. Other TWRP (like the one what you can download from the TWRP website for note 8) are outdatet and buggy on OREO roms
Go into recovery>wipe>format storage and type "yes" (that will delete all data in your phone) after that flash magisk and reboot.
The reason of unstability the root is Magisk Hide, you should turn it off from the settings. You can use magisk hide when you need it, but avoid shutting down your phone when it on.
Sorry for bad English ..

Whats the status of your phone now? Got it working?
I flashed my phone ... what 10-15? times yesterday before i got it right ....
as i have a European phone with Exynos i followed this
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-8/how-to/guide-how-to-root-note8-efs-backup-t3677038 part 1
with this twrp https://eu.dl.twrp.me/greatlte/ version 3.2.3
only exception to the guide was that i formated the /data twice (got errors first time)
Then i waited and waited (5-10-15min someting with powercord in phone)
then when i log to the phone for the first time i skip pin and password (ie no security enableing at first boot)
It worked fine.

Problem encryption and reboot

Hello
I have mi 9 with MIUi 11 (9.9.26 beta) android 10 and teamwin recovery 3.3.1-35
The problem I have is as below:
With 9.9.26 the system I think is encrypted and I can not have access to my files anymore via teamwin recovery
When I try to do the update to the next versions 9.9.27 and 9.10.10 via external storage because I don't have access to the internal storage (encrypted) the phone do continually reboot ...
I turn back to 9.9.26 version....
Any solution to my problems??
Thank you in advance
Try latest TWRP 3.3.1-42 Mauronofrio

No System partition in TWRP to Backup

Hi everyone! I'm trying to backup my stock rom after unlocking bootloader and flashing an official TWRP build (which I didn't save it to system on the first prompt because I didn't want a dirty recovery partition for obvious reasons, and now can't at all get that screen to appear again, no matter how many times I reflash the TWRP or delete its files from internal memory), but there is no /system/ partition (and never was from the first TWRP boot), only System Image.
Is it how it looks on 9T PRO or is something wrong with mine? I can't seem to find anything about it on the internet.
PS after backuping all other partitions, I was able to flash Magisk w/o problem by unchecking read-only in Mount (even multiple times, because I prefer its older version - newest one had problems with allowing root permissions to apps).
I hope some expert addresses you, but I think flashing stock rom would install the system partition

It might, but the rom I'm on is working perfectly fine and I would love to know if there will be a possibility to backup it at all, or am I destined to wipe and flash another rom when something goes wrong
My bad I, didn't read carefully, but could explain me a bit, about your concern

I got the same problem. I wanted to backup my data so I can restore it if anything goes wrong sometime.
Dont I have to Backup: Boot, System and Data to restore it.
So as mentioned above there is no entry like "System".
Or is it included in "Data"?
I"m on TWRP 3.3.1-22 on my xiaomi mi 9t pro
System image is same as system as far as I know

System image means a 1:1 dump, without image means only used space will be archived.

I tried, after BL unlock, to do a clean install. I was able to format all the partitions in "advanced wipe" menu, then I copied the ozip from PC with TWRP and did a clean install without problem.
On first boot it will boot in recovery and you need to do a factory reset (I was so scared when it happened to me ?).
P.S. I'm on European version, I don't know what are you on, so I'm not sure it there would be differences between different country versions.

Yes, but if you don't format "internal storage" you should keep them safe.
I wanted a clean start, so I formatted everything.
