Moto X4 F2FS? - Moto X4 Questions & Answers

Anyone running the Moto X4 on F2FS? If so, how do i convert the partitions? I'm running PE 04/07 build with the default kernel and the latest TWRP. I've only found how to do so for a Pocophone but I haven't done this before on any phone so i don't know if the same steps apply to this phone... any help would be appreciated.

I've tried formatting the data partition to F2FS, but the OS wouldn't, I think a supporting kernel is needed for it.

We dropped f2fs support cuz of some reasons Don try it it

[Q] TWRP / CWM decryption feature

Hey guys,
I use the encryption feature of the stock Android 4.4.4 at my Moto G2 XT1068.
The problem is TWRP and CWM don't decrypt the data partition. Therefore I can't do basic things like wipe cache/dalvik or access the internal storage.
Does anyone know a solution to decrypt the data partition? I don't want to forego the encryption feature.
If I get instructions for modifying the source code I can do this too. But be considerate of me, I have only basic skills about bulding from source.
Thank you for your help.

Hi, I have a similar issue with the decryption. My Phone is Sky Vega IM-A880S. This makes it a lot harder to get hold of ROMS and recoveries . I have been able to find just one recovery that works for it. But it won't decrypt the phone when I give in my PIN.
Is there anyway I can maybe get around this ?
Thanks.

Soo, i heard the F2FS file sysrme on OP3T is baddass!

https://www.xda-developers.com/clea...-and-op3t-storage-speed-differences-and-f2fs/
.
so,we should just wait for official 7.0 from oneplus.? i mean, that's the only way i see out OP3 could get even faster...
That's true. And they will make op3 filesystem f2fs too in future updates.
I saw even after flashing beta 8 (via modded twrp) keeps the filesystem ext4, is it true or I am exception ?
And this says, previous community builds had f2fs on op3, can anyone confirm.

You need to be on stock beta8 recovery and factory reset to get f2fs
Or you can use twrp 28 and wipe data for same effect
Why do u have to wait,
Simply flash any custom kernel with f2fs support and convert your data to f2fs
It will speed up considerably
I enabled it on my OP3 and I don't see a difference, to be honest. Might have picked up less than 1% in a synthetic benchmark, but nothing that would translate to a tangible real world benefit...
Once official comes out will we still need to reset to get it ,(all stock 3.2.8)

Does the stock system include a vendor partition? If no, how do I get rid of mine?

SHORT VERISON:
I have performance issues on my Mi5 and I don't think it is related to the installed OS. To narrow down the cause: Could someone please help me out and check, if there's a vendor partition on your device? If there is none, please help me get rid of mine!
LONG VERSION:
I think there is something fundamentally wrong with my Mi5. No matter which ROM I install, the performance is mediocre at best and gets inacceptably bad once I set up a 2nd user profile (aka Second Space on MIUI).
I have pretty much the same setup (2 user profiles, same apps) on my old ZUK Z1 (SN 801, CM12) and everything runs smoothly there. The Mi5 is supposed to have superior hardware but I just cannot feel it.
After doing some diagnoses, I realized that there is a vendor partition on my device. I was very surprised, because I believed this to be part of Project Treble, which the Mi5 is (by default) not compatible with. I have never (knowingly) repartitioned the device: I updated the original Global stable to the latest MIUI version and later upgraded to Resurrection Remix 5.8.5 and now to LineageOS 15.1.. Since updating the system partition and formatting the data partition won't help, I'm now wondering if faulty hardware is the cause or the system software (besides the system partition) has been tampered with. Hence, I want to put the device into a complete factory reset state - i.e. including the standard partition table.
I got my Mi5 last year from Gearbest. Did they maybe tamper with the stock ROM and put a vendor partition on it?

[Q] Magisk data partition remain encrypted.

Hi, everyone
Is it possible after installing magisk and rooted,to keep the data partition remain encrypted without bootloop ?
I have yet to find a way, however there is a user claiming to have root with data & system encryption on the Oreo 8.1 ROM. I'm on 9.0 Global, and tried a million different ways. Encryption is different from 8.1 to 9.0 ROMs. I think the .eu multi-language ROM based on China disables the Data encryption (even though it reports Encrypted, the system is encrypted). There was a thread here that told about possibly enabling data encryption while keeping root on the .eu multi-roms, but i have not tried. I prefer the Global ROM.
If anyone can get root with the System partition AND the Data partition fully encrypted, please let us know!
Here in the forum there is a topic where one member helps another to get it done, and the encryption is done. I do not know if there's root in the middle of the tutorial.
on official global I think there is no way to run rooted and encrypted.
on xiaomi EU encryption is disabled by default, but you can enable it by editing fstab. qcom in /vendor/etc. I have already posted about how to do it, search xda
The newer versions break twrp encryption support I was running miui.eu with encryption up untill stable 10.0.0.2. in 10.0.0.3 their must have been some sequrity upgrade that changed the encryption because twrp would no longer decrypt the data partition

Android 10 ROMs do not install

Hi.
I have a Moto X 2014 and I usually download the ROMs from here without a problem. I was able to install all Android 9.0 Pie ROMs, but no Android 10 ROM for Moto X 2014 worked.
It even goes through TWRP without giving an error, but when it goes to install it gets stuck in the ROM logo and does not come out of it. Stay in the eternal loop. If anyone can help me, please.

I had some similar problems ...
do a clean install and preferably for the BitGapps package!
follow the developers' instructions ...
Unfortunately it does not install even following the instructions. See what I've tried:
- Erase the memory
- File system change
- Restart recovery
I'm getting sad to think that I won't be able to install a ROM with Android 10 on my Moto X 2014. If you have any suggestions I'm willing to listen to you, Punk77.
Hello
which ROM are you trying to install?
I got CrDroid, Havoc, AOSP here and I'm currently using Arrow !!!
only Arrow works with Open gapps the others only with bitgapps ...
what file system is used and what version of TWRP?
Hi, again punk-77.
I've tried to install all Android 10 ROMs. I've been instructed to use the ext4 file system but it didn't work. I use the most current version of TWRP which is 3.3.1-0 Victara. I returned in ROM Stock but still not installing the ROMs Android 10 is in loop.

use f2fs for /data, ext4 for system...
I am currently using the Arrow ROM, I did a clean flash and the zips in the following sequence:
1 - ROM
2 - Open Gapps (pico)
3 - Magisk
CrDroid ROM
1 - ROM
2 - Magisk
3 - BitGapps
AOSP ROM
1 - ROM
2 - Magisk
3 - BitGapps
HAVOC ROM
1 - ROM
2 - BitGapps
3 - Magisk
“Data”???
There is no partition with that name.
Could you please let me know which file system would be ideal for each partition please.
For example, from what you told me the system is ext4.
wipe - advanced wipe - click on data
changes in the same way as with the system ...

Yes! Sorry. I got confused in the translation.
I changed Data to f2fs and System to ext4 and it still doesn't work.
Unfortunately. I don't know what to do anymore except to be sad. :crying:

of all available ROMs the only one that I managed to install without fail on the first attempt was Arrow !!!
something I noticed here, was that if I leave the phone connected to the PC, it gets stuck on the startup screen.
try this way with the Arrow ROM:
1- clear all data, system, chache ...
2- pass the ROM, Gapps ... to the cell phone
3 - disconnect the phone from the PC ...
4 - install ROM -Gapps - Magisk (optional) ...
Edit: Bitgapps also works with the Arrow ROM ...
however, you are unable to restore backups saved to Google Drive.
I did as directed. Only ROMs with Android Pie and below complete the installation.
It's sad because maybe only one developer knows why this happens... :crying:
Thank you so much for trying to help me!

unfortunately I don't know how to help anymore ...
now we can only try the support of the developers for a solution !!!
Edit: Foi lançada atualizações das ROMs...
I just tested it and it still doesn't work.
It remains in an infinite loop...
Frustrated. Very, very, very frustrated!

only tried 10.0 aosp, but 8.0 aosp is stable for me
I understand. Thanks for commenting.
I think I tested all the Android 10 ROMs that were posted on the XDA for the Moto X 2014. None worked on my device even following all the instructions that were given to me.
Arrow
just now, successfuly installed Arrow 10.0.0 Vanilla rom. but it has battery problems as i guess, as all custom roms. only 6.0 stock works good without battery issues
Will this work with TWRP 3.2.1 or do I need to update?
