Hi.
Can someone please put me out of my misery because for the life of me, I can't work out how to get any decent voice control working.
The only thing that comes up when I activate voice on my headset is the useless voice dialer.
I feel sure I'm doing something wrong but I just want to be able to say something like "Play music by Metallica" (because who else would I want to listen to?
I had several android phones before the iPhone 4 design made me switch. I've just flogged my 5S because it was crap but I find myself missing Siri, never realising how much I used it in the car.
Help!
Smiffy.

On Google play r many apps similar as siri
Google Search (or better said Google Now) is your friend here. If you update to minimum Google Search 3.2.16.1006154 you can even activate your search just by saying "Ok Google". Best combination IMHO is Google Now with Google Experience Launcher, minimum vers. here is GEL 0.10.1.920880... The Play Store unfortunately doesn't serve the latest Versions. But if you type Version Numbers in Google you get several links to the corresponding APK's...
One of those: http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/02/05/google-search-updated-to-v3-2-meet-the-google-now-launcher/
Thanks for that
I have Google search version 3.2.17** currently. How do I set that to be that default responder to the voice dial command from my headset?

I'm not sure if I get your question. You have to be on your homescreen to activate Google Search by saying "OK Google" followed by for example "will I need an umbrella today". There are workarounds to activate the listening capabilities while in apps or even with a switched off screen but I'm more than happy for this "half solutions" till the full functionality will be implemented in KitKat anyways. Oh and it's only available in English for now, I'm half spanish/swiss and there is no way to use it in those languages.
If you want to give Tasker, Autovoice etc a try http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2657759
I installed Allo, having been told that Google Assistant will come with it. I have a OP3T
After downloading it seems nothing more than Google Now?? Is there something else I need to do
I would really appreciate any help you can give
Hi @eric0668
Allo will allow you to use the google assistant only within the application it self. If you would like google assistant instead of google now then there are different ways to do that.
Thanks H3rnand3zz
In spite of the number of posts I am really a newbie.
1. So even when I open Allo, it seems no different than Google Now
2. Could you help me get it working like it does on the Pixel [Non root]. I had the Pixel and really liked Google Assistant
Thanks Again

Sure no problem... So for the first question. You have to send Google assistant a message. So on the bottom right corner of the Convo list click new message icon and chose Google assistant.
2nd question download this app.... It works perfect and will give you Google assistant but you need root.

Unfortunately, you cannot get Google Assistant to work in the same way as it does on the Pixel without rooting. Downloading Allo does not activate Google Assistant through your Google app, it simply lets use it server-side. To enable true Google Assistant, either root or wait a few weeks. Google has stated that they are officially releasing Assistant on all phones with Android 6.0+ "soon".

You can use Freedom OS. There's google assistant which I'm using. You just need to select it in the Aroma Installer.
Hello
I would like to activate Google assistant in the Google app on my HTC One M7, but the option ist not available in the settings, although the phone meets the necessary technical specs. Installing the Google assistant app also is not possible.
Thanks for hints.
Hi all,
great phone, also the China Version. After uninstallation of the Chinese stuff and using Nova launcher, it's almost perfect.
But: has anyone an idea how to enable the Google voice assistant (Hey Google...) and the Google Maps time history (grey italic bold in the settings). Surfed around and did not find anything so far.
Thanks!!!
Dispositivo privacidad, smart lock, voice match
So I installed android 12 custom rom Pixel extended but I did not flash any gapps as I did not think it was necessary,.
Everything's working fine and smooth but I can't activate google assistant using my voice as it shows, Google assistant is not available for my language.
I have changed assistant and phone's language but no success.
After looking through some forums , I think i found something like it needs 'Google hotwords' etc.
Does someone have a solution?
