I'm currently stuck in a position where my phone will not boot at all (the boot screen displaying "GT-i9000" and "Samsung" in white font does NOT appear AT ALL), nor can I boot my phone into recovery mode—absolutely every effort produces no effects, and leaves the screen in a solid, lifeless black. The only thing that has any effect is booting the phone into download mode, which is successful; however...
I am unsuccessful in flashing a ROM with ODIN. I have the proper drivers installed, and the phone shows up in ODIN just fine. It also goes through the entire ODIN flashing process as if everything has worked fine. The end result is, at the end of the ODIN flashing process, when the phone restarts and boots, it has the white font (GT-i9000 + Samsung) cycling—it appears, disappears, reappears, and seems to cycle infinitely. The only way to stop the cycle is to do a battery pull. At this stage, my phone repeats the symptoms of the first paragraph: pressing/holding the power button does NOT boot the phone, but does nothing; pressing/holding the volume up + home button + power button does NOT enter recovery, but does nothing; however, I can successfully enter the download mode.
My phone shows up in ODIN without a problem, and I have attempted to flash various original stock ROMs via their respective TAR files—but to no avail. I am in a cycle that produces no effect.
If anyone could advise me as to whether or not ODIN is flashing incorrectly, or what is going on, I would greatly appreciate it. If anyone could point me to the next step, it would help tremendously. Thanks in advance.
Try flashing firmware with PDA, Modem and CSC with repartition?
Maybe some Eclair firmware...
i was in the same situation as u were. i got the (asian version)I9000ZSJP2 ROM and flashed my mobile using odin. I used pit, pda, phone and csc files from the same link from samfirmware (cant post links)
(also had re-partition checked against website's address).
it was a chinese rom and had to change language in settings..> locale...> english.
hope this helps.
Hi,
You can make a flash to the last stable version JPY. In the arhive provided by samfirmware there is a single file "*.tar" select that file on PDA option on ODIN. You try first without cheking "repartion" checkbox. If not working check repartition. That it's all.
REMENBER: JPY is for european model of samsung galaxy s.
I have tried with "repartition" both checked and unchecked. My phone is an i9000m, but I'm assuming JPY would work fine on it, considering every custom ROM I've ever used was based on that firmware. Is this an incorrect assumption? Should I find i9000m firmware (if so, where)?
I'll try getting some files from samfirmware. Fingers crossed! I'll report back on the results.

I have tried every combination of repartition, pit files (or no pit files, as suggested on samfirmware), firmwares, etc. that I can possibly think of. All with the same result: the phone displays the intial boot screen (not the animated one, but the one that says "GT-i9000" and "Samsung" in white font) and get stuck showing that (it flashes the screen, goes away as if it is going to boot, then shows the screen again, cycling forever until I battery pull).

This did not work. It produced the same results as any other attempt to use Odin, being stuck looping the screen with the white text. Download mode continues to work, but powering on the phone normally AND trying to boot into Recovery BOTH get stuck looping the screen with the white text.
Has anyone heard of this problem before? I'd really like a definitive answer before I write my phone off as bricked/dead.
Man, if you have a i9000m that means you have a USA phone model. So go to samfirmware.com and flash with odin version I9000BVJJPD, this is the last firmware for your specific model.

Galaxy S i9000m is the Canadian version of the i9000, which is the European model. USA does not have such models; the closest is the Vibrant, which is quite different.
Nevertheless, I'll take your advice assuming you know something that I do not. i9000m's are not sold in the USA (as far as I'm concerned), so samfirmware's site having a "USA" section for i9000 left me confused. Considering every custom ROM I've ever flashed onto my phone was based off i9000 firmware, as well as the fact that I once tried flashing USA firmware on my phone which left it unusable, I assumed I should be looking at the European versions. I'll try the latest USA version and see what happens.
I will report back. Fingers crossed!
Good luck! I hope that will work.

Using the USA firmware (I9000BVJJPD) gave the exact same result. I still cannot get past the white text. I do greatly appreciate the suggestion though.

I am having a sudden sudden death problem on my device, but in my research I only knew a solution for the I9300 model through a XXELLA bootloader for android JB, and I did not find anything related to this for my device.
I wonder if you also have a solution to the problem on this device that I have.
Someone to help me?:crying:

Can you specify what exactly do you mean by "Death"?
Does the phone boot into download mode or recovery mode?
Does it make anything when it's connected to charger?
The device stops in the logo, it simply does not initialize, it goes into normal download mode, but even after the process of installing the rom (numerous attempts) it initializes, but after 2 minutes it goes back to the dead state, ie, And stuck in the logo.

Stuck at what logo, splash screen logo or boot animation logo?
Well, i suggest u to flash back to tock rom using odin and start again from there.. U might want to repartition you phone too. to repartition, pit file is required, google it and you'll find one.. Good luck.

If Odin fails to flash the stock rom, try flashing with another version of Odin like v3.07 or v3.09, and try other cable and other USB Port, also try flashing the stock rom with a pit ONLY if the error in Odin's log is related to repartitioning.

Just what I did, flashing in other versions, for version v3.09 the installation was successful, however when starting to configure account, wifi and etc. Restart by yourself and freeze the logo again.
This is very strange because there is no malfunction in the device, the card is intact. I believe that version 4.1.2 is the most appropriate for this device, since I have seen many reports of people warning not to upgrade to 4.4 because of this problem.
But now it does not make any difference, I'm going to trade it for an Optimus G touch that I really needed to get LG to work.

It might be a hardware issue, don't you think?
Coming from Samsung for being anything ... this device was stopped a long time, only took it to use a month and a half, I left Samsung a long time, I had hardware problem years ago with two devices of the brand, S4 GT-i9505 - GT-i9500, since then never again, more like my LG E977 is only with the touch screen failing, I found a service shop with interest in this GS3 and I will exchange it for the touch screen of the E977.
Hi Guys,
I have used my T-mobile Note 4 for years since it came out. I have replace the batteries once, but like a month ago when there was an update my phone keep restarting and turning off. I then had to get another phone because of that I still cant get it to restart even after I bought a new battery, updated the firmware. can some one guide me the right way to do this right. I think I am not doing the flashing the right way.. with oldin, and the correct firmware. after I do that I get this installing updates andriod show and it stops and reboots again. please help. thanks
- this phone was never locked before
- Replaced the battery once
- one day when there were a bunch of apps that needed update with probably 35% battery I let it update and after that it kept rebooting
- So installed the twrp recovery.tar.md5 from here that didnt help
- So then from sammobile I downloaded the latest firmware and installed it, that didnt help too
So the question is can I just wipe the whole phone and start fresh? -

Thank you for your response, unfortunately this didn't work for me I did install the latest firmware , but the phone doesn't go to the stock recovery mode for some reason and keeps rebooting. it does say Recovery booting... but it shuts off. so I have no way to do that even if I keep pressing the volume up, power and the home buttons pressed then release the home and power and keep pressing the volume button.

So I tried this yesterday evening,
- I did install the latest firmware which was suggest in by one of the comments above :
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24651442761499080
- then flashed it with philz recovery and did the factory reset and rebooted it but no luck.
- when restart the phone, its shows the Samsung note 4 logo then shuts off.
im afraid to say that your note 4 might bebroken now. If you go to the note 4 reddit, this has happened to many people and has something to do with the solder degrading after a few years iirc. Best thing you can do is buy a motherboard replacement for around 60 on eBay if nothing else works. I have replaced 3 note 4 motherboards for people i know that this has happened to.

^^^This. I just had to replace our two Note 4 after years of service over the last two months. Same symptoms as yours. It is most assuredly hardware related.
Even "better", from the two replacements sent by TMo, one failed within the week. The replacement just abruptly shut off and doesn't turn back on unless the battery is removed for 20 min. or so.
However, once it turns on it freezes. Try to boot to recovery, it freezes before even loading it up. One time the screen display even corrupted on me.
So, tldr, it is time for a replacement MoBo. Good luck!

The new battery may initially help, but it sounds suspiciously like the mmc is beginning to fail. Wakelock app set to option 4. Only thing that worked for me.

Hallo,
black screen of my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 SM-N900.
I can enter recovery mode and download mode and the screen is work normally, and when charging, the screen display green battery charging, so the screen is not broken and well connected.
but when turning on my note 3, the screen remain black even I hear start up sounds and touch sound and see the LED lights.
I did booting, wipe data factory reset and wipe cache and flashing.. but still note work!!
what is the reason that the screen work in download and recovery mode.. and not work when I power on the device!
any suggestions?
thanks in advance
I guess you should download the latest firmware for your phone (from sites like sammobile.com) and use odin to flash that downloaded firmware on your phone. Guides for using odin are shown on youtube. Just make sure that the firmware is for your variant of the Note 3 or you might end up bricking your device.
You have the sm-900 or sm-900a? Big difference between the two phones.

You always get a pass in Odin when you flashed the firmware a single file? You're flashing the latest ROM? If the answer is yes to both questions, it sounds like a hardware problem.

Then it's most probably a hardware issue, though not a serious one, since you obviously can see the screen when in download or recovery mode.
