I am on Fi PPWS29.69-39-6-11 rom (August 1, 2020 security patch). I want to downgrade to PPWS29.69-39-6-6. But after flashing PPWS29.69-39-6-6 rom is internal storage encrypted. Before flashing 6-6 i disabled encryption (lock screen -> none), but internal storage still encrypted after downgrading. Any solution to decrypt internal storage without wiping user data?
TWRP can decrypt the storage, so you can try making a backup in there and restoring it after you downgrade. But you may have better luck using Titanium Backup (you will need root).

Hello, I'm currently using Dirty Unicorns October build.
I want to try some Oreo ROMs, but thing is they do not work well with encrypted devices.
So, I wanna ask how do I decrypt my phone?
The guides that I have seen are very old (for Lollipop). Are these guides still applicable to 7.1.2?
Yes, the guides are still applicable. However, it also depends upon the ROM. None of the Android 8.x ROMs I tried had any issues with encrypted storage.
Backup your internal storage to another device. Using TWRP wipe everything including internal storage and format data. Install ROM that does not force encryption. Copy your data back.
This is correct as far as it goes. What is simply required is a kernel that did not force encryption, not really a full ROM. If you wipe user data before install a "no force encrypt" kernel and then reboot, the user data partition will be encrypted again. You really should flash the kernel (or ROM with a kernel that doesn't force encrypt) first, then format user data. Of course backing up every thing on the user data partition (internal storage) should be done 1st.
Hello guys,
I did a foolish update today without reading the forums first and updated to OOS 9.0.4 (Pie) from my previous stable OOS Oreo without removing encryption and backing up the Internal Storage data. I did take a backup of Boot, Data(excl storage) and System Image using TWRP 3.3.1 and copied it to my computer.
After the update, the OS refuses to decrypt the partition (Error: Decryption unsuccessful. The password you entered is correct, but unfortunately your data is corrupt. To resume, you need to factory reset the phone.) and TWRP fails to decrypt (Error: Decrypt took too long. Killing process, failed to decrypt data).
What else I tried:
1.) ADB restore the backup from the PC (as I can't transfer anything to the phones encrypted storage), but the TWRP backup is a bunch of files in a folder and ADB expects a single file in its command.
2.) Flash an older version of TWRP (3.2.3) and try decrypting (Error: Failed to decrypt data)
Is there any way I can restore the backed up files to get the phone back before the update and save my internal storage? (without a time stone or a quantum jump). I am thinking along the lines that I can somehow restore the backed up files into the respective partitions and make the decryption work, is it possible?
Worst case is there some way for me to backup the internal storage data with the encryption then go about downgrading the phone and restoring it and decrypting it back?
Any pointers would be helpful and appreciated. Thanks.

The only thing you might try is to flash OOS 9.0.4 firmware with 5.0.8 bootloader + keymaster.
If it still says the same, then sorry, but your data got corrupted and it's gone.
Hai Friends,
After installing April security patch Stock System image backup fails. But it can backup system, vender,EFS, Persist etc without any issues. Using TWRP3.3, infough space in SD card. Today updated to June Security patch and still it shows failed after about 99%.
Any suggestions?
Fixed,
flashed twrp 3.2.1 r20 and started to backup system in to Externel sd card and fails, then changed the backup destination to internel it backup system image without error. Twrp 3.3 does not alow to backup to internel becouse it shows 0 mb as internel storage. Does not flashed magisk becouse i need a pure stock backup.
My curiosity got me in to trouble again.
I wanted to try miui 11 so I flashed the while I backed up my pie rom with twrp. All was good until I restored my backup. Now my internal storage is encrypted without a way to decrypt it in twrp or miui 11. Is there a way to decrypt my storage or should I just take my loss?

As i understand data format, will remove the encryption. But before you must copy your backup to external storage, never tried it but in TWRP you have a file manager, if it can work with otg, you can do it.
Hello everybody,
I flashed some rom from other forum which changed my vendor(i guess by twrp messages) and I forgot to flash disable force encryption zip, so now i have encrypted storage, no system and some different vendor which wasn't on my device by default. I have access on twrp and fastboot and all but how can I install system on encrypted device without losing my data(factory reset to decrypt storage) phone?
Edit: by data I mean internal storage not app and rom data. I already wiped them.
copy data to pc or in pendrive using otg then proceed
